The first break he had ever taken had been forced upon him by a higher ranked magic knight from the same squad. That had shown Joseph how time off can be when you actually try to relax. On today? The person he shared an office with had pushed him a bit to spend this day off relaxing, but this was different from the time Naxel had grabbed him up for a fun time at a pub. Nobody had taken the peachy orange haired man out, there was no guide to doing this day. There had always been the focus on the one goal for him much of his life, to become a magic knight. Even after becoming one, he really wanted to improve. Why can't every day off be life the first time? At least when someone else is dragging you along you don't need to figure out where to go. He was so clueless on this that Cobborn would be just as clueless had he been walking in their hometown, Hapshass. On the other hand? There had to be more in Nairn than the pub he had been shown to. There was a thought that soon floated to the mind, spilling into his hands signing out the words. “Do I know what I like to do to relax?” Sometimes it helped to sign words out instead of keeping them in his head. The young man was hoping that it would help him figure out what to do, but it didn't. They were still just as clueless as ever without the slightest idea on what they even wanted to do.
The Azure Deer member felt tempted to pull his mantles hood up and just give up on the day. Outside of the hooded mantle, he was wearing a plain white dress shirt with red buttons. The pants were merely tan colored slacks, the shoes being brown and plain. The only thing that didn't make Joseph totally vanish into the background was his squad mantle. While his hair and eyes had unusual coloration, the plainness of most of their clothes would have balanced that out. The pale blue from the mantle made the unusual coloration stand out more. A pale orange colored hair that shimmered a light yellow in the light, giving a gradient that one might expect to see on the skin of peaches. Continuing with the color theme was the pale pink hue of his eyes, looking to be a common color of the peaches people commonly designed sweets after. He knew exactly how to vanish into the background when and if they wanted to. Joseph was walking in town to try to figure out what to do, a plain that had failed horribly. They had one more idea on figuring out where to go or what to do, sign for himself to try to force something out. So his hands started to move again, forming word after word. “Am I interested in any food? Should I try to find something in it? Drinks? Nothing there too, really? Clothes? None? Do I have any interests outside of work?"
That plain failed as badly as a burning inferno. Maybe it was hard to find interest or likes because he had never tried. Where would he even start though? What did he want to do on this time off? This should be easier! Then again, didn't this make sense? When was anything simple for him? Even music wasn't simple anymore, nor sound. His magic became more complicated than it ever should have before he ever even got his grimoire, or any spells. Music was supposed to be the most basic thing for members of his fathers family. All of them had songs inside, but the thought of having his own song inside was now a terrifying concept all in its own. He didn't even want his own songs inside, because the silence allowed him to hear the sounds of others. The music of the world was so beautiful, each object and life holding its own tune. Maybe some more walking around town would help? He thought it would, but soon enough he wasn't sure anymore. Why? Two random strangers walked by. They looked like two old friends, one was carrying a bag of groceries. They were chatting about one time when they had been young teens and had gone to a musical performance by a certain operatic singer. Whenever his mother was brought up, it became a lot harder to know what to feel, do, think, or say. There wasn't a single memory of her inside that could be reached.
Complete strangers could remember her better than him. They knew more about his own mother. It typically didn't bother him, because it wouldn't be brought up or thought about. A frown fell upon their face. He couldn't think about her, otherwise those memories would appear. The insanity from his father had been caused by her passing, making the two irreversibly linked in mind and memory. “I can't even figure out how to have a day off without being reminded strangers remember her better than me?” He signed these words out in a quick frustration. Should he just give up? At least talking in sign language instead of his voice typically allowed him to get away with saying more. It was common for people to not know it. Meeting Alma had been a good reminder to not get too comfortable in the way he spoke though, as she had understood it.

It seemed like Chisana was being forced to take more and more breaks lately, he was not to sure why that was. He hadn’t made any major mistakes or anything along those lines so he wasn’t sure why Rosa and the Captain kept pushing him to go off on these little “vacations” maybe it was because he was still a young mage both in experience and in age. He was approaching his 16th birthday but beyond that while he had done some missions and cleared out the same dungeon a few times he was still green when compared to his other squad members. So, he decided to go and wander around Nairn, it was where the Azure Deer’s base was located and by the multiple mages wearing the hood it really showed. It was also known as being a cold and beautiful place so instead of going to the common areas to relax Chisana had decided to visit some of the more out of the way places so he could grow as a person and as a mage. He wasn’t sure what he would find here in the town, but he was hopeful that he would find someone or something to keep his interest call it a gut feeling or some push by fate.
Chisana walked the town in his typical white rolled up dress shirt, black vest and black dress pants and found someone that seemed to be making weird movements with their hands not exactly at anyone or anything and at first Chisana thought that maybe the person was crazy but then he remembered reading something about people talking with their hands he had always assumed it was a figure of speech like when orators got passionate in their speeches and moved their hands a lot but it looks like it might be something more than that. Out of pure interest and the drive to learn more Chisana approached the mage calling out to them to make sure they did not become alarmed or frightened off.
“Excuse me sir, I’m new to this town, well visiting from Sosshi and I was wondering if you could direct me to the nearest inn or tavern.” Chisana would call out politely to the young mage keeping his tone polite and calm.

Pale pink eyes turned to look towards the stranger that had called to the young man. The stranger was the same exact height? That was kind of unusual. Their build looked thicker and stronger than his own, one built for combat. Like they had years of practice branded into the body. Maybe that was just guessing due to knowing how a totally pacifistic upbringing had shaped his own body. The pale individual stopped walking aimlessly before approaching this new person. Can't respond properly to someone without at least treating the other properly. “I moved here from Hapshass after joining the Azure deers, but I do know where a nearby tavern is. Sorry that I can't guarantee it's quality.” It was a common issue for those who didn't know how to relax. How do you guarantee its a nice place if you hadn't eaten or drank there before? A tavern or an inn, was he looking for a place to have a drink or spend the night? Should that be asked? But it might be considered nosy if he did. “It's this way.” With that said, the young adult started walking towards the destination. It would be rude to not show them where it was at this point. “What brings you to Narin? If it's alright to ask.” Would they mind? Maybe not. It all depended on if the stranger wouldn't mind some short conversation.
Maybe they would mind, you can never tell when it comes to those you don't know. This could also be the start of a conversation. For at least a brief time, it would be something to do on his day off. He continued to walk, meaning to guide the way. It didn't take long to get to a building with a simple sign. Inside the tavern were people of varying ages, one pair of people was playing chess. There was a small family eating at one table, the type of drinking being varied. Of course there were also people at the bar. One man there looked to be itching for a fight, but generally everyone was giving the man space to avoid trouble. Maybe he had too many drinks? Not enough? It was hard to say when just entering in the situation. Maybe he should try to look for the tavern Naxel showed him before? But that was further away than this tavern had been and he was asked where the closest one had been. Should he say something? But to do that, shouldn't he at least have an idea if one is better than the other? Anyone could get a jumpy customer and Joseph wasn't the best at judging flavors. Many enjoyed the taste of foods or drinks, but to him? It was shrugged off pretty often for the bigger picture. Eat and drink so you can get better things done later. The only time he had eaten to actually taste something was the brief hangout with Naxel.
Even then though, the flavor of that food hadn't been paid attention to that much. The conversation and new things in the situation had been pulling him from such things. If there had been a time that flavor mattered to him, it had been long since been forgotten.

Chisana watched the young man eye him as he approached which he did in turn to the young man in front of him, while he called him a young man the mage in front of him gave off the presence of someone who was older then Chisana. Though Chisana could only guess due to height and how they carried themselves, most people Chisana’s height were typically older then the young Shegnxiao and he was constantly mistaken as someone of older age. The pink eye individual seemed to at least willing to help a complete stranger which was always a positive sign for a traveler, “That’s all right, anything is better then nothing in most cases.” Chisana replied to the mage, He was sure any tavern in this area of town would suit his tastes and even if it didn’t he could easily find out information for another from the barkeep. He had traveled to many taverns due to having to keep track of his captain from time to time, so he was quite comfortable even if he was taken to the seediest of tavern.
Once the mage begun walking intent on guiding Chisana, he would follow the mage making sure to keep pace with the man. “I was told to take a break by my Captain and Vice-Captain so I decided to go to the farthest place from our base.” Chisana said as he smiled at the man. “By the way my name is Chisana Shengxiao, sorry for the late introduction.” After a short walk they entered a tavern with a simple sign and had a few customers, there was the typical family enjoying a meal and the various customers that frequented the tavern. Looking at the bar he noticed the frequent demeanor of someone who was to be avoided, for chisana it wasn’t fear that kept him from staying away from the individual but the common knowledge and gut feeling he was getting that any interaction with the man would probably end up in a fight and while he was quite confident in his ability to deal with the man he was a stranger in a new town. There was no reason to cause the people here and the owner to dislike him for causing a scene though that wouldn’t stop Chisana from stopping a scene if the agitated man caused one.
“This is perfect, really feels like a home more than an establishment, doesn’t it.” Chisana would say as he would lightly nudge the young man that had shown him the way. “Come lets grab a table and get some food and beverages, It’s on me since you went out of your way to help me. This can be the way I pay you back.” Chisana chose the closest table and waved down one of the workers ordering some of the basic food and drinks for him and his new guide. “I’ll have to pester you for a bit longer if that’s alright with you. What is there to do around here? Or better yet if you don’t mind me being a bit nosy what do you like to do in your free time?” Chisana was simply trying to get an idea of what there was to see and do in Nairn, he didn’t have any other motives and was genuinely curious.

Anything is better than nothing? That was a strange remark when it came to looking for either an inn or tavern. “Is there something interesting about taverns?” The strangeness of asking such a thing while inside a tavern wasn't lost on him. At least with an inn you could rest there. What was here though? A room? A few books said that some taverns had rooms for customers, but it was doubtful that this was the reason the stranger said it said it, right? Was it the food or drink? But buying food anywhere should be fine then. Why was he trying to understand? If he understood why people did certain things for pleasure, then maybe Joseph himself would have a better idea what to do with himself when he had time off. If this stranger hadn't popped up, he more than likely would have give up and seek either to practice, or read. The black bulls next words had been a bit unexpected. The furthest away possible? Somehow that felt a bit like a joke. ~Not everyone has tracking spells, so he might really mean that.~ Their hands moved quickly as the silently signed, words meant for himself. Most people didn't have a need to know sign language, many didn't even know what it was. This made talking to himself in public relatively easy, even if not everyone appreciated seeing something that looked so unusual.
“The Azure Deer base is in Narin because of how easy it is to get to other areas of the country from here. It feels a bit like you ended up in the opposite of your intended destination.” But what wasn't a bad thing, right? That's why it wasn't spoken with a hint of mocking, only with a playful a sing song tune. “But the perfect place to spend time in if you want to get right back to your base after your break is over, or an emergency happens.” A smile was in those words, up until the final part. Even thinking about an emergency took a bit of brightness from the azure deers mood. For a magic knight, an emergency would likely mean innocent people had already died. Cobborn couldn't even fully relax during downtime it seemed, part of them still being alert. It wasn't something he knew how to turn off, nor was he typically aware of it still going. This was only one of many small marks from old trauma. All the small things together were the puzzle pieces that built the bigger issues. For now at least, none of the larger issues were causing the pink eyed man any trouble at this time. “It's nice to meet you Chisana, you have a pretty unique sounding last name.” His own surname was common enough that it wouldn't be unusual to hear that others had it.
Pale pink eyes took on a look of confusion and surprise, looking a the dark haired youth. A warm colored pale hand reached to touch his own shoulder a bit, unsure if it was to help process the question, or the nudge after. This person was very friendly and informal, but it wasn't a question he knew how to process on thought alone. This was where hands helped, quickly moving to form words without sounds. ~What does home feel like?~ But asking that didn't help. ~What should it feel like?~ Signing was helping a lot less than it typically would. How it felt to live at his aunts and uncles was very different than how it felt to live in his apartment as an azure deer. Not knowing the answer for reasons unknown to the junior had caused some fear to slip in. Joseph didn't want to not answer the question, that was rude. At the same time, he couldn't exactly force him to know the answer. The peachy orange haired person decided to try to skip answering that, because he didn't want to think about trying to at this time. It was cowardly, but it was better to bend for the heart sometimes than it was for politeness. His hand slid back down before trying to bring some bit of a smile back. Ahh, he was being treated now? This person really was friendly. That made it easier to forget the uncomfortable question, though it lingered in the back of his brain.
It would certainly make friends with thoughts on the mother that couldn't be remembered at a later date, though not at this exact time. At this time though, their smile became more genuine. He walked over towards the same table. It seemed by the time Cobborn had sat down, things had already been ordered. It was a quick movement of things, this social interaction. “It's not a bother at all, your company is nice.” There was no thought or wonder on why it was nice. Typically it wasn't thought on so much when the person you're talking to is nice company. “I actually didn't have any free time before becoming a magic knight, so you caught me trying to figure out that same question. Not really sure what to do with myself at this point really.” It had taken so much work just to get himself mentally and emotionally well enough to join. “What did you do before becoming a magic knight?”
