After a short rest and preparing his things Chisana once more returned to the capital to meet with the lead researcher of the potential Archaeology endeavor. From what Chisana had been able to discover about the person was that she was Ilhiana Vones, archeology aficionado, ex-model and previous member of the Coral Peacocks. She was rumored to be very defensive of anyone trying to join her trips and wasn’t beneath literally tossing people if she thought they were just as she calls them “posers.” So it seemed that the biggest obstacle would be to prove to her that he was in fact there to help out and not there to cause trouble or steal anything crazy. Which to Chisana was at least understandable, no reason to bring someone that would be a burden in a potentially dangerous place or someone that would just try and steal everything that wasn’t nailed down. Luckily this endeavor was something that actually piqued his interest and desire to learn more about the various long lost history and knowledge of the Clover Kingdom. He still wasn’t able to find anything that would explain why there would be any kind of ruins out in the jungle and that drove his curiosity through the metaphorical roof.
Worse come to worse Chisana could at least show that he would be useful as a bodyguard, he was pretty sure that with his golems and items that he would be a valuable asset against any dangers that would potentially come about. Walking towards the Inn that was listed under the request Chisana noticed that there was a small crowd gathering around the entrance and raised voices could be heard. While Chisana wanted to know what was going on he decided it would be best to sit back and wait for his other member Hania. They had gotten along during the beginning stage of this request and Chisana was sure that he would show up shortly, so it would be best for them to present their case to Ilhiana together instead of staggered. A bit of a packaged deal would make them be a bit more interesting to the woman, especially if she thought he was to young to go along. It didn’t happen often but every once and a while someone would notice his youth and hold it against him even if he wore his mantle.

It had been almost a week since the buzz around the archaeology expedition had spread throughout the kingdom gaining the attention of scholars and academics alike, each hoping that they would gain a vital spot on the team in regards to the historical find. This was straight-up Hania's alley given he preferred study over anything else, including interacting with most of his family or squad, there were a few exceptions to that rule, however. During that time he took the chance to find out who would be leading the expedition, turns out it was a washed-up lower-end model but well known former member of the Coral Peacocks, her name was Ilhiana Vones. He had met her a few times at functions here and there but he didn't find any sort of appeal to her physically but did enjoy the conversation somewhat.
It was a surprise when he heard that the woman had left the Coral Peacocks, more so without so much as a word as to why. Not that she owed anyone that, at the end of the day everyone would eventually retire if they didn't get killed before that but it was interesting to see that she decided to take this path. Then again, he shouldn't have been surprised given what the Coral Peacocks are known for. The day had finally arrived however that the woman was taking interviews to decide who she was taking with her, a sorting process to see who had a genuine interest and those who were merely there for the glory or get something else out of it. Hania had little worry about being picked given his own interests, still, he knew the woman would treat him like any other.
The interviews were being held in the grand archives within the royal capital, due to this he decided to walk instead of getting one of his families carriages ready for such a short journey. He also realised it may not look to good to turn up in such a way and so this was the best course of action. He knew that the interviews would be done over the next few days but he believed it better to get it done sooner rather than later and so, went on the first day. Upon arriving around thirty minutes later he watched as time and again people were pretty much getting dismissed by the woman, he couldn't help but bring his hand up to his mouth and chuckle seeing this. She was never one to mince words and could throw words as good as the high ranking nobles when she needed to. Some seemed to react as if it was no big deal, others seemed angry and a few seemed genuinely devastated at not making the cut.
He realised then and there that the bar was set high, especially seeing his old history tutor walking away disappointed, he had been an archaeologist himself and she had dismissed him as if he was nothing more than an intern. "That's rough." he said feeling sorry for the man, he had given his life to history even losing his family over it and it seemed all for nought. Eventually, he managed to get into the inn and looked around "Perhaps I should grab some tea afterwards." he muttered to himself, his eyes falling on a familiar figure "Lord Chisana Shengxiao of the snake branch, member of the famous or infamous black bulls depending on how you look at it." he chuckled showing it was nothing but an over-exaggerated jest on his part "How are you today?" he finished his hand going to his chest, his hand slightly away from his body palm flat and towards the one he was greeting.
"I'm glad that you are here already, have you had your interview?" he asked the other watching a sobbing woman come down the steps "And how often has that been happening?" he enquired wondering if the black bull would come to be at his side. He had absolutely no issue going in together, in fact, he held out a small book to Chisana for him to take. Within it noted the snakes, their venoms, how to make the antidotes, poisonous plants, a vague map of the area they were going to, toxins, how to treat them, what could be used for aid, what to avoid and what could be eaten. "I decided to make you something for the trip." he said to the other "A congratulations gift if you will." he didn't seem to think the two of them weren't going to be going on this expedition, he could hear the muttering of others about how the pair would be using their families names to get chosen but they had to go through the selection like any other applicant.

Chisana had been quite enjoying the show of dismissals of the various groups on people who weren’t enough for the cut. While he wasn’t too sure that his interest in the historical value of the expedition would be up to par for the former Coral Peacock he was sure that he would be a valuable bodyguard for the expedition with his knowledge of illusions and his regular use of golems that would be greatly useful in dealing with creatures and even any manual work that they would need to do while on the trip. There is something worthwhile about having a mage that can bring the capability of a small army worth of manpower when you are going into a place you know will have unbeaten paths and unknown dangers.
Though that did not mean he was not interested in the knowledge behind the trip but was more willing to admit he was just excited for the new knowledge not that particular study and meaning behind it, Chisana loved to devour knowledge. After watching some groups getting the good old boot out of the building Chisana was approached by a familiar face, Hania Ravencrest.
"Lord Chisana Shengxiao of the snake branch, member of the famous or infamous black bulls depending on how you look at it."
It was a weird feeling being called a Lord of anything for Chisana since he was raised more as a commoner with the knowledge of being apart of nobility and he chuckled at the last part of Hania’s greeting. The Black Bulls were indeed both Infamous or Famous depending on who you talked to, it was an interesting way of interacting with the public some of them thought you would just destroy everything in the way and others looked at you like a hero come to live. “Hello Lord Ravencrest. I see we will be undertaking these scathing interviews today.” Chisana gave a modified version of the family bow, “I have not taken the interview, but I wouldn’t mind if we took part in it together. A packaged deal tends to go better for most.” Chisana would state as he brushed off the comments from the onlookers that they would use their family name to get into the expedition. “What fools, the Shengxiao have hardly any real power or recognition in Clover and that path hasn’t worked for anyone else why would it work now.” Chisana said as he chastised those around him, if he did not state what his last name was in most cases no one would know he was even apart of a noble family.

Hania kept the book held out to the other to take a smile on his face, whether they were accepted or not he thought it might be good for him to have something to read. He was glad to see that Chisana chuckled even if it was just at the last part of his greeting, it was a fact that no Black Bull could deny. To some, they were heroes that never gave up regardless of what it took to others they were menaces for the exact same reason. He knew he was glad he didn't have to cover that bill each month, in honesty with some of the tales he had been told he was surprised the kingdom wasn't as destitute as the Diamond kingdom. "It would seem so, are you wishing to do it as a pairing or on your own?" he asked wanting to know what the other wanted.
He was quite sure if he wanted to do it as a pairing it could be arranged. Many may have seen this as him throwing his family name around but it was quite the opposite, he was quite well versed with history and the likes and had met the woman heading the expedition a few times and they had friendly debates on many subjects. He also knew his family name where could pull a lot of weight even with her, he would never disgrace her and had always said if he ever ended up going for something like this he would want to be treated as anyone else going through the process. In honesty, he knew it could bite him in the ass but still he had an honour code and it wouldn't sit right with him if he took someone else's place that may be more deserving than himself.
It would seem as if the other had been waiting for him as he answered the question, he wanted to the interview together "Take the notebook it will work in your favour." he said calmly, it wasn't an order or anything, he had no right to do such a thing to a fellow magic knight but it would at least show the woman he was prepared and willing to learn what was needed. He couldn't fault the logic that a package deal tended to go better, however, it could harm a person's chances if the other wasn't up to par so this was beyond a gamble for the young heir but he was willing to bite the bullet.
Hania heard the mumbling and grumblings around them about how they were a shoo-in because the could just throw their positions around. "How deluded do people have to be." he said with a sigh, his head shaking a little in disappointment "Yes, we are nobles. I am from a main noble house but that won't make her treat me or my colleague any different from any of you." It was that simple to him "Besides, we are magic knights it would be unseemly towards our squad's reputations to do such underhanded things." it was clear he was insulted by that insinuation more than insulting his family name. Of course, if he did that and Lydia found out he didn't want to think of the punishment waiting for him.
"None of them were partnered with an heir of a main house." he said walking up the steps as the ringing of a bell signified for the them to head upstairs and into the room where the woman would be sat in a comfortable chair on the other side of the table. "Good afternoon miss." Hania would say his hand going to his chest, his other slightly away from himself his hand flat and towards her "It seems you have had an eventful day." he commented "You're right, I didn't expect you to have someone else with you however." she said Hania smiled "A good friend of mine, he has a love for knowledge and what can I say I miss debating." he said with a chuckle, the woman chuckled and pointed to two seats in front of her "Well, let us begin then." she said Hania nodded and sat on the chair.

Chisana took the Notebook from Hania, he didn’t feel like it was an order simply a request from a friend. It was surprising to the young Shengxiao that he considered someone his friend but it seemed that Hania had found his way into that category. Chisana had no clue how it would go from here but at least it was something new for the young man. He quickly skimmed through the notebook as they proceeded to the interview, it was filled with various knowledge about the area they were supposedly going and the information that would be greatly beneficial to anyone who read it should they be going that way. Just like back in the library it seemed the Hania was more then willing to lend a hand with research and sharing knowledge. This was a great boon for Chisana someone that quite enjoyed learning and had joined this very mission to learn as much as he could and be apart of a possible new discovery.
The women in front of them seemed to know Hania quite well. “I am Chisana Shengxiao. As my friend here has stated, I am hear to learn as much as I possibly can and help with security if the need should arise.” Chisana stated calmly as he met the woman’s eye. “Even if you think my drive for knowledge is lacking I promise that I have the needed ability to keep the group in its entirety safe while on this expedition.” Chisana said without coming off as arrogant or bragging he was completely sure he would be able to keep anyone safe during this travel with his mass amount of golems and ability to summon an army in an instant.
The woman looked at the young man and was ready to deny his entry to the group but she stopped for a moment and thought for a moment. With the vouching of Hania and the clear confidence the young man prossessed he didn’tt come off like those many types of annoying overly confident adventurers that plagued her throughout her time here at the inn and he was well-spoken even if it seemed like he was a bit arrogant. She was willing to give the young mage a chance to prove himself now she turned her attention to Hania. He was someone that she knew loved the pursuit of knowledge more then anyone but it was like seeing an old friend and it was time to enjoy herself for a bit.

Hania was glad when Chisana took the notebook from him he believed it would help his studies, he had filled it with as much knowledge as he personally knew of the area. It was useless to the white-haired male as he had everything memorized, why his tutors had tried to have him make notes was beyond him. It was a waste of their and more importantly his time, he had to prove to them that he didn't need to make the notes because he would remember everything that he was being told naturally. This of course came with several long-winded trials such as what were they wearing the day they met. He put them in their place by not only by describing their clothes perfectly but the day, time, how the weather was, how their hair was if they had been late. After that, they didn't waste their time making him write notes.
He still did practice his penmanship, it was expected after all and he found it quite relaxing in all honesty. When asked to take a seat he did so, allowing Chisana to introduce himself before doing the same. "So tell me, why should I allow you both on this expedition when I have dismissed so many other promising candidates?" she would ask the pair, she didn't take into consideration that they were nobles because where they were going they would be just like everyone else. She was once a tutor to Hania but that didn't mean that she would automatically accept him. Hania looked to Chisana to see if it was okay to speak for them both if he was he would turn to the formal Coral Peacock woman in front of them.
"As you know I am an avid learner, I have been since I was a child. I have vast amounts of knowledge and a perfect memory that doesn't ever lose information regardless of how much has passed." he explained calmly, watching the woman who was taking notes, she knew this was all true. Hania was a scholar more than a combatant but he could hold his own if needed within a battle. "As for my friend, he may not be as learned as myself he does have a thirst for knowledge and will make an effort to learn." he said pointing to the notepad. The woman looked up and to the notepad that Chisana was holding "You actually made notes?" she would ask in disbelief, him making the white-haired heir nod "Yes, I made notes. He was worth the time and effort to do such a thing." he said the woman chuckled knowing that the teenager hated writing notes and wouldn't do it as he found it worth his time.
"Very well, I'll send you both letters with the details of the day we will be leaving." she said before looking at Chisana "I would put that notepad to good use, there is a lot of things that you will need to know along the way." she said going back to writing notes Hania stood up knowing Chisana would be doing the same. Vones once again looked up and to Chisana "I do hope I am not making a mistake bringing you. I do believe Hania's words that you strive for knowledge but I also know the reputation of your squad." she said waving them off as she went back to what she was doing Hania couldn't help but sigh at the woman's words. He could understand but he also knew Chisana wasn't quite like the others of his squad and that is why he had vouched for the other.
