Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
Valo had said what he felt was needed to say to this Jaeger family, he could care less if they were nobles or royalty he didn't let anyone disrespect him for no reason. Especially since it wasn't warranted, he did nothing to receive such harsh words and judgment from them. He simply showed up and they started to run their mouths, so he had to put them back in place. But apparently he wasn't the only one that felt this way, to his suprise Hinota was very upset about it too. He looked back at her with a little shock on his face as she instantly came to his defense, he would say it was out of character for her but he knew when the time called for her to speak up she would do so without question.
The flower mage went on to correct them and speak her mind on the matter. Valo was a tad bit nervous that maybe he went to far with his words in the presence of her home, but hearing Hinota speak he was definitely in line. Most people that came to meet Hinota had the wrong idea about her, because of her appearance and her nature people usually thought she was just some kind damsel in distress all the time. Some even thought because she was a pacifist that she had no business being a magic knight, let alone a Royal knight. But Valo thought and knew differently, he witnessed her bravery first hand and saw just how much potential she had if she focused on her path. Truth be told Hinota wouldn't cause harm to any living creature, but she was as fierce as a dragon when she needed to be. Valo knew even back in Kikka, but this moment proved it even more Hinota was as powerful as they come.
A smile was on his face as he watched Hinota, Charlotte noticed it and smiled herself. Of course he would fall for someone just as fierce and fearless as him. But the focus quickly went from Hinota to Anata, as she walked over and simply smacked Echo in the face. The action even caught Valo, Agneya, Charlotte and Nanami off guard. While the party was still getting to know Anata, they knew such rash actions were not normal for her. She was rather reserved and calm, and usually was an additional voice of reason for Valo. So seeing her just walk over and smack Echo was quite surprising. Hinota who was also in shock, stopped her servants to explain why she took such an action.
Being called a snake this culture was a serious offense and insult, especially to ones such as Prince Kiyoshi and Princess Anata or known as Princess Fumiko. Valo knew the two were considered high royalty, but if he were being honest sometimes it honestly slipped his mind. After that it seemed like the drama was over for the most part. The Jaeger family had said their peace or at least tried too, the one named Echo had to be held back from commenting any further. And oddly enough he was surprisingly more willing to leave now, Valo had assumed it had something to do with his presence. Since he was adamant on staying here to win Hinota's hand. The fire mage simply rolled his eyes as the embarrassing family left the Estate grounds. "Good riddance." the fire spirit commented.
"And so we followed." Valo replied to Hinota's comment quickly, it was more of a whisper to her not wanting the many ears in the estate to hear. Kiyoshi commented on why they were here, and apologized for how Valo was dressed. Valo's thoughts were racing now, there was a lot going on and a lot being said. Was he truly ready for marriage, especially to a royal princess like Hinota. The fire mage then sucked his teeth, when he saw Kiyoshi and Anata bowing once again as an apology simply because for the way he was dressed. Hinota commented on how Valo usually doesn't see the point in bowing, and while he was learning it still left him kinda confused. He looked at the twins and commented. "I still don't get it to be honest. But if I am greeting someone of royalty I can get sorta used to it. Not making any promises though." Valo said the last part as more like a joke.
"I wanna wear a hankfu!" Nanami replied to Hinota with a bright smile. It was obvious the little one was excited to be here, and put on some pretty clothes and have some innocent fun. "A week is to long Hino. The last time you walked away with worry on your face. You gone for way to long, I won't let that happened again." Valo replied to her his voice was stern but also yet at the same time stern in this belief.
"That would be lovely Hinota, thank you very much." Charlotte replied to her, confirming she would also like a hanfu to wear. The group would follow Hinota's direction on where she was leading them.

The small party had no idea that the Jaegar family had decided to leave the estate as they had been with Junjie while Luli walked with them. The flower mage looked at the fire mage as he whispered "I wouldn't have guessed." she said shaking her head a little unable to believe that he would leave mid training like he had to track her down as he had. "How did you get through the mist?" she would ask, she knew that he had ki but there would need to be someone within a certain area before he would be able to do such a thing. There was never anyone in the mist to her knowledge and even if there was it isn't near parts of her home that are frequent so it was rather confusing to her. She needed to know this so that the defences of her home could be looked at.
She didn't exactly understand why he was whispering, it was clear they were alone and even those that were nearby showed little interest in the small party that was walking to one of the many palaces. "Why are you whispering Valo? Are you afraid of someone saying something?" she would ask, she had already guessed that the note that was under the soft cushion the bracelet he wore hadn't been found yet as if it had he wouldn't have been so worried about her, then again, she was also quite sure that her home would be nothing but a fire pit by this point. "I did invite you when I had Luli deliver your bracelet, the directions were under the cushion it sat on." she said, she hadn't brought it up before because she didn't know how to take it but she didn't want him to feel like he had to whisper about how he got there.
She smiled a little at his words "I can understand you don't see the point of it, from what I understand from my time outside of my families estate it is a way to show who stands in what social status." she said standing still for a moment pointing two fingers and a pair of maids bowing to each other like she had "Here it is just a sign of respect, of course, there are times that whose of lower status do bow lower but again this is nothing more than everyone understanding an order to things." she said thoughtfully "Besides warriors bow differently when accepting orders, delivering messages or sparring with each other." she continued looking up to the mountains and pointing again with two fingers "My families training grounds are up there, I can show you sometime." she offered.
She giggled bringing up her fan over her veil instinctively "Hanfu." she corrected Nanami but she knew she was doing her best in regards to new words. She looked at Luli before she left "Could you get one for Lady Charlotte to please Luli?" she asked the maid gave a slight bow which Hino returned without a second thought. Hinota continued into the palace but stopped to look at him as he spoke once more "Valo it wasn't like you didn't know where I was going to be and it wouldn't be when I was last here, I am under orders to protect the kingdom even if my family don't like it." she said walking up the steps once more. She knew what he was getting at as she too felt that worry and longing the entire time she had been unable to leave the estate and had to admit she was worried about coming back here.
She felt like she would never be allowed to leave again, she moved inside the palace and moved to start untying the bow that kept the veil on her face. "Princess, you know better." Junjie's voice rang out her hands instantly lowered, she almost looked deflated "He knows what I look like Junjie and why are you here I thought you were with the others." she said bowing to Junjie who brought his hands out, the left hand over the right as he bowed forward "They left and so I returned to fulfil my duties to you." he said standing straight once more "And if you are wishing to be betrothed to him it is important you follow the traditions." he said, she looked saddened and nodded a little "I know but this is foolish, we work together he's seen my face." clearly upset.
"I understand princess but if your father doesn't believe you are suited for each other you know the other option." he said his tone calm "I don't want to go through the selection process." she knew it was an honour and with her training, she would be accepted because there would be little chance her darkness would ever show itself and if it did there would be issues. Junjie looked like he wanted to say something but remained quiet. Kiyoshi looked at Valo "Before you ask the selection process is a great honour to many families. Young women of age are sent to the imperial palace and are tested to become part of the imperial harem or to become consorts to the princes." his voice whispered, his eyes going towards the flower mage "She's been raised to be a perfect candidate from what I can tell." he finished.
"You need to decide here and now master what path you are going to chose because once started there is no way to leave it and it will not be you alone this path will affect..." his eyes trailed back to the flower mage who was currently talking to Junjie "Can you give her the life she is accustomed to and the protection she needs?" he asked his eyes turning once more to look Valo in the eyes "Do you really believe you can give her more than a prince?" he asked his voice serious on the matter, in the background there would be laughter coming from where Hinota was as she was playing a game with Nanami, she seemed at complete peace as if there was nothing to fear, that there was no worry. "Do you love her enough to go against your pride and suffer what will be asked of you here? If you believe that you can then Fumiko and I will do everything in our power to make sure your betrothal will be secured before we leave this estate." his voice showed that this was an oath from the wraith, the first time he had attempted to extend an olive branch himself.

"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
Valo heard Hinota's question and began to rub his chin wondering about the mist she mentioned. He barely recalled any if he was being honest, but that was because of the spatial portal that was used to get in. "I believe it was the spatial portal if I remember correctly. We had to move quickly so I can't recall exactly. But that must have been it." The fire mage continued to follow and look around at the scenery. There was little words to describe this place, or at least he didn't know the proper ones.
Hinota had mentioned that the directions of her home were under the cushion it sat one, which he probably didn't notice and completely missed it. "There was directions under the cushion of the bracelet? I must have forgotten that fact." Valo answered embarrassingly scratching the side of his head.
"I guess I can give a short explanation on my personal bowing issues." Valo said listening to her speak on the matter. "As you know I grew up in Kikka which is the last town in the common region, basically the closest town to the Noble Region. It is the home of the popular Kikka Jail, the Hall of heroes and the Purple Orca headquarters. Basically Kikka gets allot of visitors for very different reasons. And some of those visitors who come from the Noble region be them noble or not take some kind of false pride in making other 'common' folk bow in their presence. Especially for trouble making kids." Valo then gestured to himself.
"So to me in my experience bowing was something that was used to keep the lower common people even lower mentally. A method to kill their self esteem. Because if a 'commoner' believes oneself to always be lower than a noble, one would never seek to surpass one." Valo said the last part as if he was remembering the exact quote that he heard, the few times he was locked in the Kikka Jail. "But of course not all nobles are like that. Just a certain percentage of them."
"But in my experience seeing how your traditions work, it is...very different. It is something that I can get used to." He said lightly and truthfully with a smile on his face. "But again no promises."
The fire mages eyes did widen when the flower mage mentioned a training grounds. "Don't temp me with a training grounds. You know how I can get Hino, also i'm not here for that." he said which may have come as a surprise to some to hear him say that out loud. Agneya herself looked startled. "You don't wanna train. No way. Your not Valo and what have you done with him?" she joked. Charlotte and Nanami were giggling behind them, knowing full well how much Valo loved to train and spar.
Valo put on a comical annoyed face and tried to move on from the subject. "Your right Hino I knew exactly where you would be. Which is why I had to come." he said simply because in his mind this is the place where she was not safe. He saw Junjie come closer to speak to Hinota he guessed it must have been important. She had stated that she did not want to go through the selection process, which Valo had no idea what that was. But it didn't sound to fun.
But right when that was happening Kiyoshi had approached him, and whispered in his ear about what the selection process was. To Valo it sounded horrific, was there no freedom of choice? No lives the young women involved wanted to live. This was something he could not agree to. He listened to all of Kiyoshi's questions, and he had to admit he didn't have the answer to them right now.
This was moving so much faster than he had planned to, of course he loved her. But was he ready to sign his life away right here and right now, to be forced in these traditions he was beginning to detest. The fire mage took a breath in and let it out as he always did when faced with tough odds. "I do not know yet Kiyoshi. I can't-I can't answer that right now." he said looking down and then looked back up at him. "But what I am sure of though, is that I want her to be happy and I want her to be free."

The floral mage looked puzzled at his answer "No one on this estate uses spatial magic, my parents believe that the risk of everyone's safety that lives here isn't worth the convenience of hours of travel in a few seconds." she said thoughtfully, she knew that this would something that would need to be tended to but by how Junjie was whispering into something it seemed like the matter was at hand. She was well aware that her personal servants family had served her own for generations and they took the safety of their lords and ladies seriously. She always thought that the pair would have been ordered to serve Ozma as the heir as was their families tradition but it seemed her father had requested it this way which was odd given he wanted to lock her away in a cage and fob her off to another via marriage.
What kind of danger did he really think she would be in with that kind of life? She knew better to argue and in honesty, she was glad for the company for all they were strict they were like family to her. They had always been there for as long as she could remember even if at times they were strict and rigid with things. She knew it came from duty and concern and for all the irritations she felt even now not being able to remove her veil she couldn't imagine a life without them being there. "It seems Junjie is handling the matter." she said with a warm voice her eyes going to Valo's
"Most nobles have walls that protect their estates from intruders, we have a mist that works kind of the same way but once you enter unless you have a marking or an item you will get lost within it." she explained, to her family walls were uninviting and could easily be scaled or penetrated the mist had a more mystical feeling to it and where you could walk into it it wasn't easy to find your way out of it without help. She smiled and nodded "I am guessing you didn't look at anything other than the bracelet and box then Valo." she didn't blame him nor did she intend to shame him as she knew not many people would think about doing such a thing.
She was an odd case on several different levels, a pacifist tactician who joined the magic knights and went on to become a royal knight. She had to admit even in this world filled with magic that this would have been a leap to believe if a person didn't know her. She chuckled lightly bringing her fan to her mouth instinctually as she did so seeing him embarrassed by such a thing. "You are here now and that's all that matters, the bracelet will help navigate you through the mist I had the mark placed on it by Junjie." the last part she whispered, she knew that if she had, had any of the normal crafters on the estate do it then her parents would have been informed and another punishment would follow. She trusted Junjie and though he hadn't met Valo at the time he could tell that the fire mage was important to her so complied with the request without asking questions.
She remained quiet as Valo explained why he hated bowing so much, she held her sleeves and nodded. She could understand why he would see it in such a way. It was terrible to treat others as if they were worth less just because fortune hadn't smiled on them with a prestigious family. It was one of the reasons she was glad that things were how they were in her home, it was just common respect and something everyone did regardless of station, of course, there was etiquette on how it was done but that was more of a station thing but it was nothing like how Valo had been explaining. "Nobles of the west, for the most part, are disillusioned fools who care nothing for the plights of others it would seem," she said keeping her voice low.
She knew not all nobles were this way but it still but enough were that it would leave a sour taste in anyone's mouth "Nobles are more magically gifted, for the most part, this is a fact no one can argue with. This is what they use along with their wealth to keep themselves in their special little bubbles that make them think they are better than those of lower birth." she sighed shaking her head "They shouldn't be using things to keep people under their boots but using it to uplift and protect them" she said, she knew that many would see her view as nieve but she didn't care, this was her opinion and she would keep to it even if it was an unpopular one. When she had finished speaking on the matter she let go of her sleeves, she hated that the man she loved had been treated in such a horrible manner.
She smiled "Thank you for seeing the traditions in regards to bowing here as different and attempting to follow them even if you can't promise." To her, this was a step forward even if it was small. She knew he was still less than happy about her family but the fact he was trying to suck it up, for now, meant the world to her. She chuckled when he mentioned about her not tempting her as she knew how he was and that he wasn't here for that kind of thing. "Valo, it's very common for young men like yourself to train in this culture. I can guarantee the moment that crowned prince Kiyoshi could walk he had started training." she commented Kiyoshi nodding confirming this was indeed the case. "My brothers are the same and I'm sure if you need a sparring partner outside of the crowned prince then Junjie would take up the offer of a spar." she said Junjie bowing a little his left hand going over his right "It would be my honour to do so." he said respectfully to the fire mage.
She brought up her finger to her lips as he explained of course he knew where she'd be and that's why he needed to come "Valo..." she said in a quiet and panicked voice. Kiyoshi leaned into the fire mages ear "Anything done behind closed doors remains there, to even hint that it has been aired publically could make matters worse, be mindful." he whispered his voice calm but showing he was about to stand on a mine that could get them both in trouble. Junjie just looked at him for a moment but remained quiet on his thoughts. He guessed what had happened and knew he should report his suspicion to his lord but that would do nothing but hurt Hinota in more ways than one and his duty was to protect her to the best of his ability and so he would do just that.
Kiyoshi looked to the owner of where he rested contemplating for a moment "Then perhaps it is best we leave until you know what path you wish." he said, his voice stoic. "I am not going to waste my time further if you are unsure that you can commit to this path. I warned you that once it had started you would need to see it through." it was like an older brother chastising a younger one "You don't understand Master Valoriss, for women of our culture marriage gives us a freedom we can't have otherwise even if it is still restricting depending on our husband and station." Anata spoke in a hushed tone "Happiness is something that is often out of our grasps but we cherish it when we can obtain it." she continued looking to her brother that seemed less than impressed.
She looked closed her eyes and thought for a moment "Brother, what if we can merge the two cultures?" she said looking at the black-haired male he obviously was perplexed and didn't like how this was going. "No, we both know we do not bend to the whims of others or break traditions as such." he said she sighed "But they wish to be with each other and they are of two different cultures." she said trying to get her twin to see reason but this was going to be an uphill battle "Then they should marry within their own cultures." he said flatly "You are being unreasonable" "And you're being swayed by emotion over duty." it was unusual to see the pair at odds with each other as Anata was always placid in regards to her brother.
"You forget our duty!" she finally said her words being harsh something they normally weren't this was something that caught Kiyoshi off-guard "We were told to obey him like we did our mistress and he wishes to be with her so we need to find a way for it to happen or we are failing." she continued not giving him the slightest opening to argue with her. Hearing these words he closed his eyes "I concede. you're correct." he said as he opened his eyes looking at Valo once more "Can you put your pride aside and learn these traditions if given time? Do you think if given time you would be more at peace with a betrothal being put into place?" If the answer is yes I will get you the time required for these tasks to be done." He knew it was a lot to put on his shoulders "If you can not answer this way I will not attempt it and you both should part ways in the matter of the heart here and now before you both get hurt in the future." he wasn't mixing words he needed to know Valo's intention here and now.

"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
Valo listened to Hinota's explanation on how the mist and the bracelet she gifted him worked together, he looked at it as if he was admiring it for the first time again. He hadn't realized the gift was capable of such things and smiled to himself when he realized his own foolishness. "No to be honest I didn't, I guess i still have allot to learn when it comes to slowing things down." Valo answered her. He payed attention to her whisper and placed his arm down slowly, since this was not a public known thing. He didn't want to attract any attention.
Hino continued talking about the nobles of the west, and he agreed some if not most were stubborn and foolish. But he would be lying if he didn't admit since becoming a magic knight he had met some nobles who weren't so bad and didn't really care for social status or anything of that matter. She continued stating the facts that most everyone believed with nobles being more magically gifted and them using their wealth to keep the same social bubbles. But she thought instead they should use that same status and influence to uplift others rather than put them down. Valo nodded in agreement. "Agreed. From what I see in our current generation. Nobles around our age seem to be taking those ideals to heart. One of the Ravencrests, Hania. I can't stand him but from what I can tell he doesn't seem to think himself any better than any common man. The ice boy might be good for the future is what I'm trying to say." Valo spoke on his rival Hania the ice mage. His basic polar opposite from the personality to the element, but there was admiration there even if Valo struggle to admit.
Hino continued to speak about training and how even Kiyoshi the crowned prince was training since birth. Valo turned and looked at Kiyoshi with an extreme puzzled look, he wasn't sure how he missed this fact. It must have completely went over his head at some point in time. "Kiyoshi you're a crowned prince!?!?" Valo asked him suddenly. This fact probably was mentioned before but it had never truly settled in his brain till now. Valo then turned towards Anata. "So that means you're a princess Anata?!" Valo asked her as well with the same comical expression on his face. Agneya rolled her eyes and rubbed the temples of her head. "You can be such a numbskull sometimes Valo. You should already know that." she told him.
"Yea but like they are actual royalty, I guess I hadn't realized." Valo said now embarrassed with himself. But he looked at Junjie who stated it would be an honor to spar with him, Valo's eyes looked surprised and excited. "Well I'll probably take you up on that offer." placing his hands on his hips.
Kiyoshi came and whispered in his ear about anything done here behind closed doors, remains there and is to not be spoken of. Valo was annoyed by this but he understood what he meant. It wasn't in the fire mages nature to keep quiet about things he knew was wrong, it was really nice seeing Hinota again and even enjoying this time together with everyone was pleasant. But he never let himself get blinded by it. This place and some of the people in it had hurt Hinota, and he was going to get to the bottom of it. Even if it did upset Kiyoshi and the others. Valo will never forget what Hino had said to him in that dungeon, she should have never had to experience that kind of pain and anguish. That is something the fire mage simply could not ignore. The only two people who could know what Valo was feeling was Agneya because of their spiritual connection and Charlotte because of their history.
Kiyoshi's response to him was harsh but understandable, the crowned prince was like an older brother to Valo one that he didn't ask for. Growing up Valo was an only child with his mother, never had an older sibling like figure in his life. So this experience was new for him and he truly didn't know how to proceed. Then Anata spoke up as well she like Kiyoshi was becoming an older sibling figure for Valo. But instead of being being stoic and harsh, she was understanding and patient. Similar to Charlotte and his mother, when he realized this Valo's eyes widened and put his head down. The young fire mage wanted to speak to his mother.
Anata explained how things in there culture were different for women, he understood that and he wanted to help Hinota with all his heart. He just wasn't sure he was ready for such things yet. His ears did perk up when Anata mentioned combining the two cultures if something like that could happen that could probably work! But it seemed Kiyoshi took a different stance and did not agree with Anata's suggestion. While they went back and forth for a second, Valo looked at Hinota but snapped back to the twins when Anata ended up shouting. Which was something Valo had never seen her do, nor thought that she was capable of doing it. He looked shocked and the thought it was time to step in. "You guys don't have to...obey me. It sounds weird just using that word. I understand our particular circumstances." Valo said referring to the relic given to him by Lilitu 'Last Wishes.'
"But you guys are your own person. With thoughts, feelings and history and emotions. You are my friends if not family now. You may not see it that way, but thats how I see it. So when we have disputes like this, we'll settle it by talking it out. Not by you guys having to...obey me." Valo said his peace and how he felt on that matter. He understand they were duty bound to him, but he never wanted any of them to feel like they had to obey him and ignore their own feelings.
"Now for our particular situation, yes I know I can do whatever is asked of me. I just need time to come to terms with it. And more importantly as embarrassing as this may sound. I need to talk to my mother." Valo said hesitantly. Charlotte was already smiling from Valo's previous words about how he saw Kiyoshi and Anata as friends and family. When he stated he needed to speak his mother she walked over to him still carrying Nanami and patted his head. "It would be wonderful seeing, Arianna again." Nanami herself whom started to look sleepy. "Valo's mommy is soooo funny. She's the coolest."
Valo had gone quite some time without seeing his mother, since he became a magic knight in fact. And he really missed her and her very particular way guidance. His mother was a rather free spirited woman, and rarely stayed home. She wasn't a magic knight or anything of the sort but she was very adventurous. Allot of Valo's personality came from his mother, and the time was coming where he wanted to see her again. He had much to tell her and fill her in on, plus he couldn't get engaged without his own mother knowing. Valo looked at Hinota "I want you to meet her too." he said softly. He then looked at the group "I'm not saying I need to see her right this very moment, but soon I would say. For now count me in. But I need to see her, and I guess have her... guidance." Valo said not sure what proper words to use when it came to his mother. But he hoped that wasn't to much of an ask.

Her eyes went to the bracelet she had, had crafted for him, she wasn't well versed in crafting metal herself so she needed those that worked within the estate who had such craftsmanship to do it for her. She trusted them of course and under normal circumstances she would have left them to their work, but, that item had been different and she had chosen everything from metal, its design and even the pattern on it, she had even siphoned her own magic into it while it was being created. She had watched every moment it had been worked on and if it wasn't how she envisioned it she would have requested they start anew. She knew that any she denied wouldn't have gone to waste as she would have told them to take them as gifts for their wives or children.
She was quite aware that the bracelet was likely far more dainty than a male would usually wear but she also knew something heavy would just slow the person it was meant for. "I made sure that it was the best I could give and that nothing would prevent you from getting to me." she whispered her eyes looking to the ground almost as if she was embarrassed about her words. "My parents would have been informed if I went through usual methods to do what I did and I didn't want them stopping its creation and so..." she looked to Junjie she was glad that she could trust him to help her even though she knew he didn't agree with the request he was given. She shook her head "You are able to get past the mist that would otherwise disorientate you." she said contently knowing it would now be classed as an insult if her parents tried to regain the bracelet from him.
"You've made leaps and bounds, you had proven that when it came to the castle." she didn't want to get too much into it because she was quite sure that Junjie himself would lock her in her palace for the rest of time. She chuckled a little bringing her fan up as she did out of habit from being at home "You needn't worry about those that serve me here knowing Valo, they are treated well and so their silence is assured." She informed the other, each and every member of her palace had been handpicked by Junjie and Luli so she could be at ease and not worry about the walls having ears that would go and run off to tell her family things she didn't want to be known. She made sure they were well compensated and had time for themselves and their families.
She knew that she hadn't needed to go so far given the way their culture was but she believed those who were happy and content with their working conditions would be less willing to betray the one they served. She was raised that honour, duty and obedience was everything and even now she did strongly believe in these values even if she had gone off course in her families eyes in regards to obedience and what they believed her duty was to the family. She brought her hand up and chuckled as he spoke about Hania, she could tell the fire mage had respect for his counterpart of ice even if he found it hard to voice such a thing in words but that was just part of him and that was fine by her. "I haven't really met him but my father and elder brother serve in the same squad." she said thoughtfully.
"You don't know Valo?" she seemed puzzled but then it likely wasn't known out of noble circles so she could hardly blame him if he hadn't known "Hania was adopted into the Ravencrest when he was but a child." she said watching as Luli entered with a few handmaidens offering to help Charlotte and Nanami change into their fairy hanfu. "The Ravencrest are purists when it comes to nobility so no one has ever thought of him as anything but a noble but..." she paused for a moment and shook her head preventing herself from finishing her way of thinking. The last thing she wanted to do was tarnish someone's name or cause insult to a friendly family over an unfounded thought. "Please ignore my last statement." she said softly her tone showed shame at her words and knew she should be more careful when speaking on such topics.
Hinota was caught off-guard with what happened next "Valo, I told you they were a crowned prince and princess when we met them within Kikka." she said unable to believe that he had forgotten such important information, but then, she turned her eyes back to the divider where Charlotte and Nanami were getting dressed and bit her bottom lip. She knew he had been through a lot and was healing from so much destruction and personal loss so she guessed it was easy to forget some things. "There is a good chance that I am related to them Valo." she commented her hands going to her sleeves, this was for one she didn't want to assume such a thing and the second was she remembered just how destructive the pair were, there was also part of her that hoped that she wasn't given her own nature but she couldn't deny the high probability of it.
Junjie looked at Valo for a moment attempting to take everything in "You do realize that you are attempting to get betrothed to a princess." he said flatly, Hinota looked at the taller man "There is no need for that Junjie..." she whispered she knew of her birthright and what it meant but she was unsatisfied with it because it meant there were so many more restrictions on her than the average girl of her culture. She also didn't like being called princess in front of Valo, it felt awkward almost as if being told that she is above him. She wanted to believe that this wasn't their intention but part of her knew that they didn't approve of the relationship, not only was it because he was not of their culture but he was several stations below her own.
"You aren't to speak of his true station around others, do I make myself clear?" She hated doing such things and knew they would never betray her but she needed them to know her wishes. The pair looked at her, they saw the gentle trembling going through her body as much as she tried to hide it, even eye eyes had gone glassy. "You have nothing to gear from us, as far as we are concerned he is a prince." Luli said trying to reassure her, she looked to her brother for a moment who said nothing. He didn't like the facade but his duty was to her and it was clear that even if he was below her station he made her happy. "I will aid in your education if you would allow it." he said his left hand going over his right as he bowed a little. Hinota and Luli smiled knowing that this was his way of accepting the request given to him by Hinota, the pair also knew that Valo himself would have to get use to being called a prince while on the estate.
The twin wraiths looked at him for a moment before looking at each other as if having a conversation without words before looking back at Valo once again. There was a long pause of awkward silence "In life we were bound to the duties expected of us and even in death this hasn't changed, so, where we do appreciate the sentiment allow us to fulfil our duties in the best way we can." Kiyoshi finally spoke his tone was neutral, Junjie looked at the wraith for a moment and was met with a brief narrowing of the eye as if the wraith dared him to speak out of turn. "Just because we are bound by our duty doesn't change who we are as people master Valoriss. We are still who we were in life we just have a lot of limitations to what we are able to do." Anata said softly wanting to put his mind at ease. "Your outlook on us isn't that much different from the young princess that you've fallen for but it doesn't change the circumstances of our contract to you." she said trying to make him understand that where of course they did see him as family they were still at his call and nothing would change that.
Hearing Valo speak about the matter at hand Kiyoshi looked at him and nodded "Very good, it means your education can begin and hopefully, we can polish you enough that you will be able to fool a royal from our homeland." he said in his normal neutral tone. He wasn't sure if the other had the discipline for it given how hot-headed he could be but he did say he would do everything in his power if Valo answered yes to his questions and so he would keep to his word. "I remember you speaking of your mother when I first started visiting you at the Green Mantis headquarters, she seems like a wonderful person so I wouldn't see why you would feel the need to be embarrassed in the slightest Valo. It's only natural that you would seek out her guidance when troubled." Hinota would say taking the two boxes Luli had been holding and moved to Valo holding them out. "I would love to meet her, please send me an invitation when you wish me to join you both." she said with a smile.
"It isn't so much a traditional hanfu but one someone would use when training." she said allowing him to open each box to see an outfit in one and the matching shoes in the other. "I weaved the fabric myself and even crafted them in the three months we hadn't seen each other." she said looking away blushing, she knew the clothing wasn't his style but if he was going to act the part he had to somewhat look the part and as she found out herself given how she dresses day to day if you don't want people staring you need to blend in. "Luli..." she whispered as if she was about to give another request "It has already been tended to, the Pheonix palace is being prepared for prince Valo." she said without missing a beat "Thank you." she said her tone showing true gratitude "Valo, if you want I can have a messenger sent to find your mother with a letter if you want so a time and place can be set in stone." she said believing that perhaps his mother wouldn't really like to come here to do such things given how different it was and she wanted everyone to be at peace but she left that up to him to decide.

Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
It was becoming very clear to Valo at this point in his life that allot of things were changing. He could no longer just look at himself as the simple young man from Kikka trying to be a good magic knight, to make his family, friends and himself proud. His transition from being a young troublemaking kid, into a magic knight for the Green Mantis squad went surprisingly smooth. He had knack for it, instead os stealing from others he was now prioritizing their safety and saving them. In all the times and opportunities to help people in his youth, he was finally able to do it. Instead of the opposite. He was always good in a fight even when young. So his life as a magic knight felt almost natural to him.
But with all his adventures, and enemies he's had to defeat never in a million years did he think he would end up here being called a prince even if it was only for a trick. He could see now just like his first days as a magic knight he had to say goodbye to a part of his former life. It was probably all for the better, but he just needed to get used to it.
He was still getting used to having the wraiths in his life, whom were great and incredible companions. But it was clear that Kiyoshi and Anata saw things much differently than him. It was a struggle at times to reach a compromise, but it was only natural because they grew up in nearly entirely different worlds. They had rules, orders, strict codes that they would follow even after death. So far Valo had lived most of life in his own freedoms and didn't really follow any rules but his own. Of course he could respect their ideals and codes, but he struggled when it came down to bearing his own down. He would never look at the wraiths as servants, and he would never see himself as their master whom they had to serve. "Alright." was all he could muster in a response right now.
His spirit Agneya flew over to him and looked right in his eyes with a focused scowl, and then flew on top of his head and laid down. They were probably going to have words after this, he was lucky enough she decided not to speak out loud. Agneya's temper was basically Valo's own but with nothing to hold it back, she was upset about something and he would hear about it soon enough. Which was another factor in his new life that he had to balance, Agneya Astra his spirit. She was tethered to him on much deeper level, even though they were two separate beings. He was getting used to having a spirit in his life as well, as the plans for the future not only effected him but her as well. He could not forget that.
One of Hinota's bodyguards the male twin, said in a flat tone to Valo the he was attempting to marry a princess. While this was now the obvious fact, they were words that Valo needed to hear out loud. "...yes...yes I know." Valo replied his eyes showing some concern now, he looked away towards the windows outside, when Junji came over with a little bow and said he would aid Valo in his education the fire mage smiled a little "Thank you Junjie."
Agneya rolled her eyes staying ontop of Valo's head, and rolled body over the other side.
Hinota was speaking while handing Valo a box, the fire mage looked a little confused and interested. "Haha I know, I know it's just not very often a magic knight has to say 'let me speak to my mother'." Valo made a little joke looking at what was inside the box. What he found was a really nice regal set of clothes. The colors were black, white and gold with some red trimming and matching black boots in the other box. It wasn't anything like he worn in the past, but it was certainly stylish. "Aaahh Hino it looks wonderful, thank you very much." he said to her admiring the gift of clothing.
Then two pieces of information came in back to back. The first was the fact that Valo would be staying in something called the Pheonix Palace. "A Pheonix Palace? I don't think I need-." Valo was in the middle of saying, but a quick jab to the head from Agenya's tiny first interrupted him. "Thank you Luli it is much appreciated." he finished off with instead. As for the messenger being sent out for his mother, Valo's first thoughts were to say it wasn't necessary. He would rather prefer to go get his mother himself, but on second thought it wouldn't hurt to do both. "That's actually not a bad idea, granted knowing my mother I will still have to go and get her myself. But sending a messenger out to let her know won't hurt either. She should be on her way back to Kikka to help with the restoration process. She's probably coming from the Forsaken Region, at least that's where she wrote me last." Valo said.

Hinota listened to the twin wraiths speak their peace, she currently wondered if she was in their shoes would she be the same or would she bend to the whims of another. Then again, she had heard that Lilitu had been a unique wraith user as she refused to strip those she made wraiths of who they were, it honestly had her question how she managed such a feat, as from her limited knowledge of the magic wraiths were as mindless as a golem. She put it down to some unique form of wraith due to her race, but then it brought up another question why would she have let them keep who they were. From how they acted they weren't mistreated, in fact, they seemed very much loved and cared for. To her, it made absolutely no sense as from what everyone is told daemons are evil unfeeling beings.
She, much like Valo she expected didn't believe this to be one hundred percent gospel nowadays and would challenge the notion should the need arise. She now thought that daemons were much like humans in that each of them was different; with different motives, wishes and wants. It now brought up the question of what were the motivations of Lilitu and Ito? They didn't seem like they were completely happy with what their father had done, near the end they even sacrificed themselves so the darkness could be lifted from over Kikka. That alone made her wonder if Sven had used his own children as pawns and if they themselves knew that if they perished then the darkness would at least weaken. There were just so many questions left unanswered and though the twin wraiths could likely answer them she didn't want to bring up something that was likely painful for them.
"I am quite aware you know, you still needed to hear it spoken." Junjie was as serious as he always had been when it came to Hinota, his eyes going to his sister as he felt her touch "Junjie, no one needs that kind of pressure put on them, I'm sure he's having a hard enough time as it is without you or the former crowned prince making it harder for him." she could feel the glare coming from Kiyoshi but looked him dead in the eye "You do not intimidate me and like it or not you are dead so my statement is true." her tone was still completely respectful but it was clear she wasn't about to back down from someone who even in death held a status higher than her own. "Luli..." Junjie spoke his tone showing some annoyance toward his twin sister.
"Do not antagonise the late crowned prince, it will do nothing but cause suffering later and you will not be the one paying the cost." he warned her. Luli closed her eyes and moved to her knees her hands going flat on the floor in front of her as he bowed her head going to the floor "Please forgive my rudeness crowned prince, I forgot my place and so forgot my manners. I will take whatever punishment you deem sutible for my transgression." her words were softer than they had been only a few moments earlier. Seeing the actions performed the floral mage's eyes went wide as she positioned herself between Luli and Kiyoshi "Please... not in my palace... I... couldn't bear it..." she knew a slight had been given and so punishment would be needed to appease it. She had felt the brunt of a punishment herself for breaking rules and didn't want that for Luli.
"You are willing to take her punishment then?" he inquired, this put Junjie on the defensive instantly more so as the young woman he swore his life to nodded "I am." she said without even stopping to think what that could mean. "I accept the substitution." he stated looking to Luli "You can rise and be thankful your mistress treasures you as she does." his words were cold towards Luli who was now getting glowered at by Junjie. "Your punishment is a light one compared to what it could be..." he said looking at Hinota "You will dance, sing and pour tea this evening." he said simply, this caught those that knew the traditions off guard "Y... yes of course." Hinota said without arguing the fact. Anata who would have prevented Valo from getting involved if he tried leaned in bringing up her sleeve as she spoke.
"Tradition and honour dictate that the slight be rectified, he's being lenient for two reasons..." she began her voice whispered "The first is he wants you to see first-hand why he believes she was raised to be a perfect candidate for passing the selection process and why she would be taken as a bride for a prince or even the emperor himself..." she paused for a moment "The second is out of respect for you, he doesn't want harm to befall the flower princess and knows if he didn't accept her substitution the servant would be harshly punished thus causing distress for her. This way the servant is protected while satisfying tradition and honour... it was a risky move on the flower princess's part but it seems my brother is becoming fond of you both." she said with a slight giggle before bringing down her sleeve.
During this time Junjie had dismissed his sister to take care of things for their mother's arrival later in the evening, he hated having to do it but he didn't want any more issues to arise even if he didn't expect any others going forward. "It is my honour." he said simply turning his attention once more to Valo. "Junjie could you plea..." "I have instructed Luli to send a messenger to inform prince Valo's mother that he seeks an audience with her, of course, not in such flowery words before tending for our own mother's visit this evening." he said calmly knowing what she was going to ask, she brought up her fan and chuckled a little knowing just how on the ball he and Luli were at anticipating her requests. Then again, they had been serving her for as long as she could remember so it was only natural after all those years together.
"Thank you Junjie." she said warmly turning her eyes to Valo as he saw the gifts "I thought you may like it for training, although, if you are going to play the part you are going to need to look the part." she said with a sheepish tone "That means you're going to have to get a new wardrobe for when you live here." she explained, she knew he likely wasn't going to be happy at that but it was an unfortunate part of the role he was to play while on the estate. "I'll try and keep it as simple as possible and movement-friendly." she finished "If it makes you feel any better I'll be designing them... I can even tailor them if you'd like that..." he didn't know his preference on that kind of thing, they came from different status's as well as worlds.
This was her doing her best to try and see where his comfort level was. She had no idea if he was comfortable having private tailors or not. Then again this was just something he'd likely get used to while on the estate but she was willing to be a buffer until he was comfortable with the change if he'd prefer it. "Unlike most estates that have everyone under the same roof, my family's estate is much like the forbidden city of my family's homeland." she said scratching her cheek a little "We each have a palace, even my mother and father do." she didn't go further into that as it wasn't her place. "I believe Luli choose the palace best suited for your element but also your rebirth of sorts." she said warmly. She didn't want him to lose who he was at his core, if anything she believed he would adapt what he learned and make it his own.

Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
The next few interactions had made the atmosphere rather intense. The two bodyguards Junjie and Luli got into a small but noticeable back and forth. Regarding Hinota and Valo the fire mage had no issues speaking up for himself, but Luli did it for him causing her snap not only at Junjie but at Kiyoshi as well who was glaring at her. Stating that the crowned prince was dead, and that he did not intimate her. It was unnecessary, but Valo could understand where her frustrations were coming from she was speaking up for him. The exchange probably wouldn't have happened if he was more stern and concrete in his decisions.
She did come to regret her words towards Kiyoshi though, as it was disrespectful. Valo wanted to say something but thought it best not to for now. Let them run their course for things naturally without his interference. Hinota spoke up not wanting whatever punishment it could be to happen in her palace. Surely it couldn't be to harsh Valo thought. He caught off guard when Hinota decided to take the punishment instead, and this time the fire mage was going to say something. But Anata would stop him and Valo heard that the punishment would just be for her to dance and sing and pour their tea. This was a relief to Valo.
Anata started to whisper explaining the situation, cause he clearly didn't know what was going on. It was much more complicated than anything he was used to. Kiyoshi had had chosen to be lenient because he did not want harm to come to Hinota and also to show Valo himself that she was the perfect candidate for passing the selection process. It was an interesting turn of events to say the least, Valo started to rub his chin watching and learning from the situation. Causing Charlotte and Nanami to giggle at him because his very distinct thinking face was on.
"Don't overthink yourself into a headache, Prince Valorisse." Charlotte said to him taping his forehead, knowing he could tend to overthink things at times.
Valo groaned hearing the word prince in front of his full name, and he knew convincing Charlotte to not use it was impossible. It wasn't a true bother to him, but he still preferred the simple use of Valo over anything else. Names and titles didn't mean much to him. He did like the title the people in Clover started to call him though. 'The Unrelenting Flame.' It sounded cool to him.
The twins confirmed they would give word to his mother, and Valo thanked them once more and turned his attention to Hinota as she spoke about the new clothes and how he would have to start looking the part. It didn't bother him much if he had to be honest. "Sounds like I have to start dressing like Kiyoshi." Valo chuckled looking at the crowned princes outfit, it was elegant and regal and he remembered Kiyoshi was able to fight pretty well while wearing it. "Actually I would like that very much Hino! You know how I like to move around." Valo said as he stared to do some silly comedic poses. "As long as I can fight in it, I'll like it!" and then started to imitate how Kiyoshi stood and walked around.
They next spoke about the palace and Hino mentioned the Phoenix palace was chosen cause it suited his element and his rebirth. Was he going through a rebirth at the present? "Hmmm a rebirth you say?" Valo asked rubbing his chin and thinking again.

Hinota has remained quiet throughout the small conversations that Valo had with the others, it wasn't her place to interfere or eavesdrop on them. She smiled as Junjie informed her that he had Luli do the necessary arrangements to get the word out to Valo's mother about his want to see her. Normally, Valo would have written it himself but she guessed Junjie had instructed Luli to do it to keep her from getting into any more altercations with Kiyoshi thus making her own life difficult in the long run. She knew that the 'punishment' had been lenient for Valo's sake and that if it hadn't been for that it could and likely would have been much worse as Kiyoshi didn't seem to take being disrespected well at all, more so from a handmaid. The flower mage didn't so much mind pouring tea as she had done it so often.
Even if nervous she wouldn't tremble, the thing that worried her was the dancing aspect. She knew so many dances as it was something that she had practiced since she had started to walk, but, outside of her family, tutor, Luli, and Junjie watching she danced purely for fun and exercise. The thought of Valo watching her was terrifying for some reason, she almost felt like she was going to throw up. She'd be so embarrassed if she forgot her footing or worse. She knew that Valo likely wouldn't notice if she messed up but Kiyoshi and Anata would and she knew that they would judge her on it which made this situation that much worse. She had to wonder if she did mess up her dancing if they would even allow this to go forward as they were speaking on Valo's behalf to her father.
Even if Valo didn't understand the situation fully she did and understood just how much power Kiyoshi had in their lives right now. She would happily turn her back on her entire life for Valo and would do so without hesitation, after all, her family kept trying to get her to take off the ring he gave her regardless of the punishment dealt she was still wearing it to that day. "I am sure I will be able to make regal clothing that is also good for mobility though you will end up also having clothing that is more for formal settings, All going well in the future I will be designing our wedding clothing." she blushed at that notion bringing her fan up to her face in the hopes to hide it. Hinota nodded as he contemplated the palace he had been given.
"Fire is a very destructive element but it is also a warm and passionate element..." she said looking at him for a moment before looking out of the window and to the gardens "Even after a forest fire new life can eventually be seen within the aftermath of the destruction and it often grows stronger and faster." she explained looking back to him "I understand that this is also a new life to you and like I have been trying for the last year will have to learn how to balance to both worlds. Our balancing is a little more complicated than most people's due to our relationship but we will get through this trial together and like phoenixes, we shall sore into the next part of our lives together." she said with a small voice blushing once more as she spoke. She then looked to the box "But for now, I think you should change. We can leave while you do so or you could go to your palace and dress there." she said allowing him to make the decision.
Usually, it would be unheard of for a male to be inside her palace let alone getting dressed in it but given the circumstances she was hoping that Junjie would be lenient which even if he sighed she knew he wouldn't say anything. If Valo decided to dress behind the screen she would walk outside allowing him privacy along with the others though Junjie would remain at the door in case Valo wanted to ask anything or needed help.
