In this world, Magic is Everything. All people, all races, are granted with the power to perform mystical and magical feats via grimories, mystical tomes granted to each and every child on their 15th birthday. Those blessed by the mana can have their names written down in legend.

The skies were dark in this area, but Joseph still knew where he wanted to go. It was a town he could find without any map spells, because it was where he was raised. Spilling those visions had been a bit much for him. Finding out they had been real memories that had never entirely been pushed out just pushed the young man past his limits, even when asking for help. He couldn't sit in a building and face a calm face while it felt like everything was falling apart. He had asked for whatever had been said to be written down because... it had to be important, but the Golden Dawn member just couldn't hear it right now. The papers in one hand had everything that was written down for them, in the other was Yugos hand. “Is it okay if I fly us to an area of forest around Hapshass? It's, I feel like my head is going to break. I used to go to that forest anytime I needed space from myself.” This wasn't something Cobborn had said to another person before, but this wasn't a normal person, nor a normal situation. It wasn't a nightmare. What do you even do next with that? His father was real in it. He really died in that memory, didn't he? Their pale pink eyes tried to focus on the now, but part of him was lost on the images of the past. His father trying to react as quickly as they could.
There had likely been far more to luring out that man and getting them to even come in the first place, but such details weren't exactly things such a small child would have been privy too. There were a lot of holes, the papers could probably help fill them- but he was having a hard enough time focusing on walking. “I wonder how many people he could have helped if my mother hadn't wanted him dead so badly.” Why did those words come out? He wanted to hold himself together but these terrible dark thoughts leaked out. His blood father had been a crimson lion. He knew nothing else, but that was enough to suggest they likely helped civilians as much as possible. That wasn't a squad to join if one wanted to be a slacker. For some reason it felt like she had taken so much from him, but this was the first time he had said anything about it in public. It wasn't anywhere crowded, nobody was paying any mind, but even this felt a bit too close to insulting her around fans that might not enjoy such talk. He didn't want to use any magic, just let himself get taken somewhere warm and pretend like nothing ever happened. It would be so nice if that had all been a very horrible dream. “Would you... hold onto the papers? I'll try to create the construct after a few breaths... but the paper feels heavy.”
It didn't have any physical weight really, like any other bundle of papers. It was an emotional weight hat he would need to use hands to even try to describe. That nightmare was unfinished incomplete bits of memories that hung inside despite the huge memory loss. It was one of the first things to start coming back, despite the dark implications. A phantom from the mind reaching for him using faces that might not even exist anymore. Are any of those people still alive? The person who had killed his blood father, how was one to even find out the first thing about a person with no physical description? Everything felt a bit dazed, like breakfast was threatening to come out and his legs from under him. Shaking hands, one still holding onto one of Yugos hands. Everything felt so terrible and he just wanted to run to somewhere safe where everything could soak in and he could decide his next move. Their next move?

The sky above threatened to rain upon the duo as they made their way into the outskirts of the city they were in. The meeting with his father had been standard, but there was nothing they could do if more information was not found. Yes, the memories were a real thing. But it was easy to manipulate memories. It was easy to make false worlds in your own mind. He knew that well himself. It had been a coping mechanism to his lonelyness as a child. He hadnt been aware of it at the time but he often day dreamed as he read, feeling himself there in those worlds. He had not needed to do that for a while now. The world around him demanded his attention too much. He would never be able to allow his guard to fall. There was too much to protect now, too much to live for. He needed all his senses to be embraced in this reality and none other. Yet even as he held the hand of Joseph, he couldn’t help but feel like he was somewhere else. A place peaceful and calm. Like a still water ocean with out a single wave. It was just him…. and Joseph. [break][break] As Joseph spoke about wanting to fly to a more private space he couldn’t help but nod his agreement. He spoke softly and measured. ”Of course my dear Friend. You are more then welcome too. I do not have the skills to make something like that.” he remmebered how impressive it had been to see the young man make the musical themed boat they took while capturing his cousin when they had first started this ordeal. He handed him the papers with a shaky hand and Yugo gently held it as he took the papers from him. ”Take your time…. I will keep these papers safe. I promise you that.” he smiled at him, keeping eye contact. His singular patch of black hair hung in his face. He moved it aside as he carefully held the papers. He stepped back to give Joseph space to be able to make his spell properly. [break][break] little did the two know a figure was watching them. Waiting for them to get farther from the domain of Zaven of the Golden Dawn. The figure had 2 others with him, they were older and wiser. But they did not move. They knew better then to attack here. They would just keep up with them till they were far enough between settlements that if they went missing it wouldn’t be strange, after all the woods take all. The youngest one had his dagger ready just in case. He was eager to make his first kill.

Breathing was easier without holding the papers. The erratic breathing started to slowly even out, helped by a mix of not holding the papers and getting closer to an area without much of any people. “I-” Their words paused, as if trying to figure out the right way to say something. “The papers terrify me, because I can't lip read. This isn't information my brain could have tampered with, or even information I ever knew, despite it being spoken right in front of my own face.” It was a bad and heavy feeling just thinking about it. It validated this was a memory, but it was also something the man might not have ever figured out on his own. There had been so many memories that had been forgotten, so many times there had been doubt over his own memories. There was a bit of light to all of this. It was something he spoke in sign language and verbally at the same time. ~”I think this has taught me the only memories of mine that are false are ones with no visuals. How my current mind works and how it worked in those oldest confirmed memories, my mind makes no sounds. I've had some memories where visuals are blurred and my mind has sound like a voice, but they contain information that doesn't line up with the rest of my memories. My mother being nice to me before, my father torturing me, and my magic changing elements are all things that fall under that.
I have solid memories of my father hurting me and doing things when he had gone mad, but honestly the worst part I can remember in the normal sense was seeing his mind fall apart. The only times he hurt me in those memories was when I went for anything that might hurt me. But if this is true it means my real memories don't really alter over time and something happened to put fake ones in and mess with my memories. The large gap in my memories might have been put there on purpose. Figuring this out feels liberating, though I don't know why.”~ It was like a fog had lifted, a lot of things were making more sense. It still wasn't the best, the implications were quite dark. He didn't want to say say it or admit it to himself. If it was drugs, it would mean one of his fathers doctor friends had betrayed them. A friend being bought by either his mother, his fathers family, or both. One of the ones that didn't 'vanish'. Such things were a little more than a bit horrifying, not something their heart could take at this time. The past spectres of the mind that couldn't be touched, nor interacted with. There was a pause before his hands started to move to speak. He was well enough to speak fine now, but he wanted to talk in sign language at that time. ~After everything calms down, why don't we read it together? Than we can decide where to go next from here.~
There was something strangely calming, like how his mind worked finally made sense. His magic connecting so well with him wasn't a trauma response. There had been strange things put in his head by someone or someones who hadn't quite grasped his his mind functions, making those memories stand out only if you know about the memories before them. Without that information it was hard to judge, but now he had it. Proof that his mind had always worked the same way it did now. It felt like they had started to see the first step in reconnecting to their own mind. They already felt closer to themselves than they had the other day. “Yugo, do... you think all your hair will eventually go black?” That question was asked out loud as he signed the words break mark out. The spell quickly started to form as they both started to enter the forest. Watching it fully form was a little satisfying, even if he had to briefly let go of Yugos hand in order to do it. There was a calming feeling about being in the forest. A feeling of safety, where all danger made itself obvious through small sounds and there was nobody to judge what has been spoken. With their mind a bit more back though, something else stood out. These words were spoken a bit more quietly. “There's three people following us.”
Did he bring his weapon? Anything? Oddly, yes. This didn't make him feel any more reassured though, as it was his only form of attack. It could only attack one person and the pursuers were not a group of one. Flying off to leave attackers behind wouldn't actually be how a magic knight would act, so it wasn't something he was planning on doing.

[attr="class","polarPOSTIT"] Yugo had thankfully brought his items. He no longer didn’t carry them when he left his residence. After nearly failing to capture George, he would never be found without his weapons again. On his left arm was his classic crossbow, one of the first weapons he ever had made. It was made of a nice and magically connected wood that would help the components inside move smoothly. It was able to shoot a single glass ball. On his left hip he wore his lightning sword, one that he was quite proud of. He wore his grimoire on his right hip and as Joseph spoke he couldn’t help but rest his hand on it. The idea of memories not being true was something he doesn’t know if he could handle. he held the papers securely as Joseph spoke about his memories and what seemed real and not. He would step up next to him and smile softly. He couldn’t help but feel a sense of calmness coming over him. Yes, the memories may be fake, but he was handling this knowledge better then Yugo ever could. He wondered if the two of them could end up getting food again as they both had seemed to enjoy the meal they shared together before. [break][break] He let Joseph finish his thoughts and nodded as he spoke about it being liberating. “Well the saying of old is that the truth will set you free…though I don’t know if its better or worse. that’s why im gunna make sure your not alone during this. Im with you during this 100 percent.” he folded the papers and put them away in his uniform. He couldn’t help but want to help. It was what he had been raised to do. Even if he was an enemy, Yugo would not let them die. No one deserved to die under the power of another. The young magic knight had not yet been forced to take a life, so he did not know that there were times when that was the only choice. “Id love nothing more then to continue helping you with this. When we get to were we are headed we can spend a bit reading it before we rest for the night. We are headed back to my estate correct?” he smiled thinking of what meal he should cook next, he had gotten more groceries since last time. [break][break] When joseph let go of his hand to continue the spell, Yugo couldn’t help but smile at the man. He was such a kind soul, one that Yugo had been instantly drawn to like a Glowmoth to flame. As he watched the spell form he couldn’t help but feel something inside him growing. It was like watching an artist mold their substance…it… reminded him of his mother. That was a painful thought that entered his mind. The memory of his mother working on small art projects of glass was one of his earliest memories. It was like a reminder that she did exist, beyond the pictures and the memories, he had artwork from her. Was this how Joseph had felt when he had heard his mothers music? Had it given him a hopefulness, or was it something of pain? Yugo himself found it to be both. A loving memory, but a bitter reality. [break][break] As Joseph spoke about his hair however, he couldn’t help but blush and play with his hair. You make me blush, I hadnt even thought of that… it doesn’t matter weather it does or does not. So long as I am able to exist with you, then I am happy even if I lose all my hair.” he smiled and as they climbed onto the spell to travel, Joseph spoke once more this time in hushed tones. Yugo nodded and didn’t say another word, but he did undo his grimoire holding hook and let it float out by his side. He kept his cool and kept his hand on his sword almost relaxed, but ready. The three figures would begin to follow the duo, they needed to wait, once they got about half way into the forest, they would be able to attack and fullfill their contract.

Yugos questioning of the term 'the truth will set you free' was quite confusing. To the red head, the truth was something one could typically rely on. If something is factual, than everything should align. ~Thank you Yugo, it would take far longer for me to emotionally recover from this without you, if I kept from dipping too deep.~ The words had been signed with a bit of a lax posture, like one might get from physical fatigue. This wasn't physical tiredness, but sometimes mental or emotional exhaustion can look physical. He wasn't going to pretend that certain dark thoughts hadn't entered heir mind every now and again. It was never acted on, not that they could recall. Despite the missing memories, the young man would like to hope that he would remember such a thing if it had ever been tried. Than again, more important things were forgotten that had only recently been recalled. ~It is always better to have the painful flight of truth rather than the comfortable cage of a lie. Not everyone can handle that freedom, but I refuse to settle for a comfortable cage.~ This time his signing had been done with a more firm posture in the arms and hands, even his eyes starting to look a bit less dazed. Bit by bit, he was slowly recovering himself to small degrees. The truth wasn't always easy, this certainly wasn't.
This didn't mean it wasn't the better thing, or the right thing when someone was capable of handling the possible short term or long term consequences. This was merely the payment for freedom. Pale pink eyes watched Yugo fold the paper before putting it away. Probably a lot more gentle than he would have been in this current state. It was comforting to have Yugo with him. Then there was a reminder, he hadn't told Yugo where he was going. Also it was a good reminder that the other probably aren't able to make their way through forests without magic. “Sorry, I've been heading for Hapshass. The first things I think about as a nice space to calm down is a library, or a spot in the forest around my hometown. I wasn't even considering sleep or meals...” Of course it wasn't late enough in the day for sleep yet, but it would eventually get there. There would be many hours left in the day if he flew them both over, but the three followers had to be dealt with before that could happen. Then again he had already summoned the transportation, why only use it to get from one point to another? Why just let them come to the two of them? And Yugo had already got onto the floating boat. It had a good design for getting around quickly even in crowded areas. If he were to turn towards those that were following them?
Joseph paused in walking, pale pink eyes looking towards the transportation before getting on it. ~We can go anywhere at a speedy rate after the pursuers are taken care of. If you think we should head somewhere besides Hapshass after, than we can.~ He had turned his body while signing to make sure that Yugo got a very clear view of the words being silently spoken. He didn't like the idea of heading back before dealing with anything in his hometown, it felt like needlessly drawing out the issue. Most people in his state would rant to run away, but what would that solve? But the golden dawn member also knew that he wasn't at his emotional or mental best at this time. The mind nor heart were not working towards rational choices on normal reasoning. But of course if his reasoning had been there, he would have remembered before getting on the spell why waiting was better. If they acted before, the group would still be spread out. This meant it would be easier for the enemies to escape. The spell slowly moved along, its not like the thugs would know this was on purpose. It was definitely faster than this. The hair loss comment from the white haired man was... weird? ~I think you should cherish your hair, no matter the color. Longer hair is actually a sign of good health, as those with poor health tend to have more brittle strands that are much harder to grow longer.~
One thing he certainly wanted, it was for his boyfriends health to keep going strong. Thick strands of hair just felt like a good sign to him, something to be happy about. That was a nice thing to think about, even the trap they were setting up for the attackers was better to think about than what had happened in recent times. The memories the man hadn't been sure were even real. Something about showing them visually was especially emotionally and mentally exhausting, finding out for sure that it had really happened made it worse. Recovering would be best, but at least with a distracted mind he wouldn't need to think about the current reality for a brief bit. Any longer than a brief bit wouldn't be healthy, but a breather was nice. Was it bad that it felt nice to get something else to think about? Like the person right next to him. ~Thank you for being so supportive Yugo.~

[attr="class","polarPOSTIT"] Yugo couldn’t help but look at Joseph with an air of love and care. The two had only been aquainted for a short while, dating even less. But even then the young Magical Knight couldn’t help but marvel at the way Joseph still carried himself despite everything hes been through left a strong and vivid image in Yugos mind. Despite knowing there were enemies, he still went about their conversation with a natural ease and knowledge that he could tell he was more experienced. He was more then eager to learn at Josephs side if it meant getting to see him in his calmness. [break][break] The three ambushers were unaware they had been detected and as scuh followed getting ready to deal out their own form of Vengence. They had been Contracted to settle an old grudge, one that had been going on far longer then either Joseph or Yugo had been alive. One that had Yugo locked in the very center of the plot. The killers made their way underthem as Yugo and joseph discussed his hair and where they were going. They didn’t see Yugos smile as Joseph Complimented his hair and yugo made his way to the edge of the transport. The young Magic Knight was much more confident now, he had handcuffs, and even his full gear on. He was ready for a fight. [break][break] With practice skill the three assassins came to a halt as Yugo stood up and unsheathed his sword, the lightning mana crackling through it and the handle into his body as he did. The three figures were caught unawares that he was aware of them and as such their mission had failed to be done in stealth. ”You three seem to be following me and my companion, what are your inten-- the attack had been fast, a fireball launched from one of the assassins who wore a red outfit, the fireball was easily met with a glass ball from Yugos launcher and the young Knight stood tall as he saw his reactions had gotten better. Had the small growth of just becoming healthy helped his body enough that he could actually make such a block? He was feeling a bit high off of his bodys speed and movements. He was finally feeling…alive! The waves of the fireball washed passed him having been dissipated by the glass ball. ”It seems your intentions are not good.” [break[break] One of the assassins in blue yelled at the one in red in a strange language. Yugo couldn’t help but look away to see where Joseph was, and upon seeing him and confirming he was safe he would return his attention to the battle at hand. “If you three are Robbers you could not have Chosen a worse person to rob. I would have gladly paid you a few coin for safe passage, I understand this may be your territory, it is between cities after all.”

Joseph didn't know the way Yugo looked at him or why, for they were not a mind reader. There was a knowledge that it was some variant of affection and trust, like one would a friend or a boyfriend. The two had started off as friends, but chaos and high emotions had burst into what had been just friends getting to know each other more. If those events hadn't happened that day, the two would have just become closer friends, he was sure. The young adult had been so careful about locking away that heart, making expectations impossible to reach. It had become one of his emotional and mental walls built out of fear. A mix of fears, to become like that woman, or to get attached and love someone who may fall apart like his adoptive fathers mind had. The risks that come with an exposed heart, the openings coming in brief times that were on;y clear to the peachy orange haired person when he could taste drinks and foods. Something like that was hard to detect for him. It was hard to tell yourself when it was happening if you didn't want to open weaknesses and pain. At the same time? As terrifying as the traumas made things, he wanted to be happy with others. It was nice to find out he liked fish while talking to Yugo in that cafe. The yearning for connections were stronger than the fear when it came to the want of friends and allies.
Falling for anyone hadn't been planned. He didn't flirt with Hinota while he was single for more than one reason. With anyone Cobborn had seen as attractive. An intelligent mind, someone who doesn't feel they need to show skin to feel confident. A person who was good, but not good just because others told them to be. Someone with elegance but without looking down on someone for something like rank. That description sounded like quite a tall order, right? But nobody has full pull over the heart. Unexpected things had happened that day months ago. Yugo hadn't fit the expectations set in the heart, but they had also been the one to get Joseph to look at himself. As much as they didn't want to admit it, he was a survivor of abuse. That made it harder to look at himself the way the man looked at other people. It was easier to have the teachings and knowledge sink in on right or wrong, tolerable or intolerable when it was about other people. You can't look at yourself physically without something reflective, this makes it easier to dissociate yourself from others. Family had been so important, but most of them had hurt him so much. He was the only one they had hurt, so it had been alright. It took someone else pointing it out for Joseph to realize it wasn't alright.
That person had been Yugo, upset on his behalf for one of the common minor wrongs. The abusive words were something that had been normal for his cousin, but only at him. The man had been nice to everyone else. It made him realize, to see the crimes they had done that he had known of. That pale person was the reason he finally stood up for himself. Also scared the hell out of Joseph the same day, an event of much heart trembling. The golden dawn member didn't know Yugo was admiring him, nor that how he acted in such a situation showed his experience. Just as it might be hard to see the many ways inexperience can coat all your actions, the opposite is also true. ~Thank you Yugo. After we get there and our minds and hearts are calmed, or my heart and mind is calmed? The information needs to be reviewed. The words of deceptive people can't be trusted, but there still might be important information in those memories.~ Calm was not one of the emotions the peachy pink eyed person was feeling right now, though it didn't mean he couldn't try to calm, nor make plans of action. When you're in a bad situation, the worst thing can be to wait to make plans of actions sometimes. Even if what you plan is simple, its better than sitting on your ass and having a mental breakdown.
It seemed their boyfriend was still naive, but at least they were also still sweet. But also, trying to talk gently to bandits that are just being violent. Joseph really didn't feel like fighting, but he had already been getting ready for it. The sensation was sickly against the skin, but there was nothing to be done about that. The man let out a bit of a sigh as they watched and listened to the scene that unfolded. At least they were a good person, but it was wasted on those bandits. “Yugo, you are a magic knight. This means you are required to arrest any criminals you see actively trying to break the law. Please don't hand robbers any yul in the future.” But maybe he wasn't giving Yugo a good enough chance. “It would be rude for me to not trust you to be able to fight them, so just give the word and I'll do my bet to assist you. I can get us to the city fast, even with a few extra pieces of cargo.” That was what those robbers would be with handcuffs on after all- extra cargo.

[attr="class","polarPOSTIT"] [break][break] It was a quick and easy thrashing that Yugo gave the men. It only took about 10 or so minutes. The entire time Yugo had a smile on his face as he dodged and faught like a man whos body was healthy. It was the first time in his entire life that he had felt such a goodness in his body. By the time he was done all three men were captured their faces swollen from the impacts of the Glass orbs his cross bow sent out. They were all handcuffed and even their ankles were. He had learned from his mistake with George and kept many cuffs on his person now when he was out. He waited on the ground as one of the men tried to wiggle away and he placed his sword at the mans throat. He whimpered but didn’t resist further. Yugo breathed heavily but not in a bad way. He was filled with adrenalin, and as he waited he felt his body and his cloths fitting a bit oddly. He was unaware his body had begun to awaken to his true genetics, as his unknown twin was also going through their own awakening. He chuckled as Joseph landed the craft and he would help lift the men into the construct and he would climb up. [break][break] As he looked at joseph he blushed and smiled. ”I had no intention of letting them go sweet Joseph. I learned my lesson from my encounter with George. But It felt good to speak with a fire in my words.” he chuckled thinking back to the day ardere saved his life and to when he first met zaven. They both had solid confidence and spoke with a inner fire. He would get close to joseph and place his hand on his as he watched him. Once they were in the air hed turn and keep an eye on their guests. But they had seemingly settled and accepted their fate. He would gently sit and look back behind them. ”Don’t worry joseph. Once we drop them off, we can sit down and get this sorted. Even if it only leads to another dead end I promise ill keep helping you. We will remove the darkness they hide in and reveal their actions to the light. Then, maybe once we do we can save him too.” he kept his choice of words he wouldn’t let the guests they picked up catch on to to many details. He would gently rub Josephs leg as he steered the ship. It was not in a sexual way but in a comforting way. [break][break] He would watch as the sky zoomed by them, he breathed out and winced. ”For as good as my body felt fighting, it now aches. As if I am having a growth spurt like I did when I was young.” he looked down at his hands, they were paler yet he felt much stronger. He chuckled to himself and smirked. It must be a good sign, that the poison that had haunted him his entire life. He would look out the side of the craft and then back at joseph. “Joseph I…. have grown so much since I met you that day I went looking for the ruins. I am grateful to have met you and to be given such an amazing chance to learn and grow as a person thanks to you.” he would smile up at joseph and it was clear he wasn’t lying.

Cobborn couldn't help but be reminded by how naive Yugo was, though it sounded like his cousin had crushed some of that out to some extent. Was that why the others appearance seemed to be slowly changing since then? “I'm sorry about George. That probably wasn't a good way to start getting a personal taste in the darker side of human nature.” He couldn't help but to think that. It was one thing to read about something, but another to see or hear it. It was nice to see that the other didn't struggle in taking the enemies down and cuffing them. It was certainly preferred to apprehend criminals instead of killing. He hated death, killing, and all forms of violence. Once a life was over, you couldn't just give it back. The golden dawn member stepped onto the transport spell, their peachy pale pink eyes glancing at the defeated criminals briefly. The hand touching from the other was a reminder to Joseph to keep his mind there. There were more important things to do than to let the mind fall apart. The young man didn't want his mind to fall apart anyway. Even after being with the other for a few months now, he wasn't all that good at trying to flirt or be romantic. They considered being capable and intelligent to be attractive things more than any poetry or showing of flesh.
An aching body? Growth spurt? Eyes started trying to focus on Yugo a bit, but in the end everything had to keep to what little that was in their system onto getting all of them to Hapshass, then get them to the Coral Peacock base. “I can give you a look over after we Arrive at The Coral Peacock base in Hapshass, but with how my mind is maybe I should take you to one of my fathers friends instead. There are a number of doctors I'm on friendly terms with and trust that live in that city and could look you over.” He didn't like the idea of admitting these things, but it was better than pretending everything was fine. At least the spell was moving quickly and nimbly towards their destination, better than any feet or normal carriage. The physical and vocal comforts helped their mind level back down again, though he was still not mentally at a hundred present. Now he could look at the silver eagle while driving. “You look a lot healthier, though are likely in need of some food, things with protein and potassium. Protein helps a lot with blood and potassium helps with muscles, so these are just precautionary suggestions.” Cobborns eyes kept on Yugo a few moments longer before looking forward again. They were still steering through the wilderness, with flora and fauna as far as the naked eye could see. There were trails and roads in certain areas though. He knew that the trees would end soon enough, because they would be at the city.
The transportation spell moved swiftly with its nimble shape aiding in any maneuvers it had to do. No sharp turns had to be made, so it was easy to stand firm upon the harp shaped ship. They were close enough that he knew where every tree was at this point, making it even easier to steer towards the location without issue at a quick speed. There was never any slowing at any point by Joseph, always moving it at the maximum speed. ~It would be nice to have the darkness removed. Most of the things that happened were all a long time ago, so hopefully if we run into dead ends it just means I have been forgotten.~ Such a thing seemed unlikely, but they would have to at some point after being unsuccessful for so long, right? That was just assumptions. Hopeful assumptions the man didn't want to deal with blowing down at this time. He never saw the one man in any reports by magic knights that he had reviewed, but it also wasn't like he read reports from ten or fourteen years ago either. A phantom that didn't show up in anything that he knew of. Then again, how easy was it to use a disguise? He also didn't actually know the appearance of the person that killed his blood father. No gender, skin color, nor hair or lack of it. The frightening truth was that killer could still be as active as ever and he would be none the wiser.
Yugo had learned because of him? That put a bit of surprise into their eyes. “When we first met, it looked like you had never entered a tavern before. I spoke at you like I was trying to avoid you into getting into a lot of needless trouble, it wasn't the kindest way to talk to you.” He had been scared for Yugo back then, thinking them inexperienced in the world to the extent that it could get them hurt. “Even after that you were kind when we met again. You helped me realize that I couldn't let myself be the exception to how people should be treated, no matter how important family is to me. It was nice talking and eating with you somewhere comfortable before my cousin showed up.” He had learned from his boyfriend, it wasn't just the other learning from him. It wasn't much longer until the ship entered the city. Now they just needed to get to the coral peacocks base so they could try to calm down somewhere after the criminals were fully dealt with. Cobborn needed to get his head on straight and calm down if he wanted to read the papers, let alone talk to their father.

[attr="class","polarPOSTIT"] The flight had been entirely smooth. As if they were traveling over slick ice in a sleigh. He had never gotten a chance to do it himself. He hadnt been able to as a child and didn’t think of it when the last winter snow had come through. He would have to wait till the next time around to give it a try. The thought excited him. It brought a smile to his face for the brief moment before Joseph began to respond. He brought up george and how he thought it was not the best way to personally see the evil of man. But Yugo already knew the evil of man. How could he not? Someone, or rather, some thing killed his parents. He didn’t know what it was. Be it a devil in disguive, some random bandit, or some one who had a grudge against his mother or father. He didn’t know and he doubted hed ever know. What would he even do if he did know? Would he choose revenge? Acceptance? He didn’t know and for now his mind didn’t want to even think about it. It was like a wall had been built into his mond and he refused to look at it. [break][break] When Joseph next spoke about examining him when they arrived at their destination or perhaps having one of his fathers friends examine him he would chuckle. He would turn his head to look at joseph, the bandits they captured were all out cold. But they would be handled by the guards when they arrived at the city no doubt. He would look at him with eyes filled with something approching love. The months they had been spending time together he could not help but to find that he was falling in love with Joseph. His beautiful hair and his wonderful eyes. Yugo chuckled again and teasingly spoke. “Checking my body? Mmm that’s rather forward for you my sweet Cobborn.” he spoke softly and with a bit of a seductive tone. He smirked and gen tly squeezed Josephs hand as he continued speaking. The young knight was lost in his boyfriends voice and in their eyes and in their hair and the soft subtle sensation of their skin upon his. It was only a hand but it was like the entire world was left behind when he held it. All there was was Joseph, and the wonderful love he filled Yugos heart with. [break][break] As he listened to him speak, he wondered if letting the darkness go was something that could work. It seemed so alien a thought to him that there would not be darkness in this world. There cannot be light without darkness right? His father for all he tried could never shake yugos slight nihilism. It was to be expected given how he had lived hiss life, and then even then after their deaths he couldn’t possibly believe the world could only be good or bad. It had to be a mix, for, without that darkness he and Joseph may have never met and bonded as they had. There was a balance to this world, good and bad, easy and hard. For as terrible as the thought was… he was grateful for the world that brought them together. Before he could respond his boyfriend began to speak of how they first met and how in the meeting that changed everything he had been kind to him regardless. Yugo laughed and chuckled. “Of course my dear sweet Joseph, I had never been in a tavern before.it very much was my first time! Hahahaha, and of course. Why would I not be kind? You and I have never had a bad interaction in my eyes.” he chuckled softly and gently kissed the hand.

It was expected when spotting the edge of the city of Hapshass, as that had been the goal. He didn't want to emotionally disconnect, but it seemed to be the easiest way to function at the moment. All the emotions and thoughts could be dealt with after the criminals had been dealt with. “I used to think that people would only like me if they thought I was an innocent sweet peach, part of me is too scared to let go of this completely. How I dress, walk, wear my hair, even these fake glasses.” The lenses were still glass, but they were not seeing eye glasses. The object did nothing for him. His heart was without color and its own sounds, grasping onto anything and everything recorded by memory. The flirting Yugo did likely would have been taken nicely by most others, but it was handled with a neutral hand by Cobborn. Well, it would be in a moment. He was now focused on steering within the city, coming to a stop at the Coral Peacocks base. The criminals may not have been ones he captured, but he wanted them out of the way as soon as possible. “Move” The words were spoken in a quiet and firm tone that lacked aggression, somehow causing it to have more of a cold bite. The three quickly scrambled up, heading inside the building. Maybe it had been the tone of his voice, or the detached cold stare given to them.
Either way, having them go in while still being cuffed made things easier. They were taken, and once inside Joseph filled out the necessary paperwork involved. Having everything concerning those people dealt with let some weight off his shoulders, leaving the building with a bit more energy in his steps and muscles in a less tense state. The man looked over towards Yugo with a weak smile, though it was brief. There was still a lot to deal with, emotionally and mentally. “What I wanted to say was while you're attractive, as a medical student I would stay professional even in front of the most brilliant and attractive minded person in all of clover if it was for a medical examination. Sorry, you probably need that now but I just don't have the energy to help with finding out what happened to your body and sorting though my memories all in one day.” He could technically push past the emotions and do it regardless of how they felt, but that wasn't something to do unless needed. The young man had so many things going on inside, at least the criminals were taken care of. “...I know a little tavern with herbal drinks and soups that isn't too far away. That quietness and calm sounds nice at the moment.” Right now he wanted the forest, but didn't want to look for trouble at the moment.
The easiest way to find solace in a place that didn't require silence was probably that tavern, if it was still around. 'That' cafe was wonderful, but it was too soon for him. Even if it had been a few months already, the embarrassment lingered and stung. The feeling of Yugos hand holding his own before they had entered the city had been nice. This was the same person that had seemed excited over hearing about Josephs real eye color hidden under his mothers magic. How many had they even told that existed? Their emotions calmed down a bit as a pale hand reached for Yugos, latching the two back together. “Sorry for loosing my temper at them a bit and letting go of your hand.” At the least he hadn't been having any lapses of memory. Talking to them, holding their hand, and being around Yugo helped. Someone who cared and he cared about mattered quite a bit. The transport spell vanished, as at the moment? Joseph just wanted to walk there. Was there a reason? Since they were in own now, he could use it to better ground his mind a bit more. The man refused to be over taken with emotions, to be conquered by them. No matter what is written on that paper, it held a long buried truth. The honest and dishonest words and grey morality scale that he knows to be there even without reading it yet.
In a sense even the lies were a type of truth, as those were words someone really spoke at some point. This meant it was true that it happened, no matter what lies or intimidation tactics may or may not have been used. The words from Yugo had been kind and pure. No bad interactions? One might think the first one was, for it was easy to mistake Josephs concerned scolding as getting upset at them. This person didn't misunderstand it, or perhaps they simply understood Cobborn well enough after these months together. “I shouldn't be surprised you understand that I was concerned about you when we first met, though even Griswald thought I was bullying you.” It took a few minutes for the kiss from earlier on the hand to register in his mind. It wasn't common from either of them. Still, it caused a slight flush on the face once it fully struck their brain. Nobody seemed to pay much mind to them as Joseph walked, though a few seemed to give a look of recognition as they continued along their own ways. This was the city he grew up in, so it was one of the very few places the young man expected other people to know him. They started getting further from the coral peacocks base and closer to the docking area. The scent of the ocean of course started to roll forth when getting closer to such a location.
It was one of the buildings that was quite close to the docks, making it likely that this was a place one would find mostly merchants and sailors. The outside of the building looked old, but well kept. It seemed to be made of bricks of the same type of deep grey cooked clay, each brick fitting perfectly in its spot of the wall, none being even a millimeter out of place. The door was made out of what looked like a type of iron with a coating on it, the name being hung over the door being, 'The Sirens Last Tavern'. The windows were made of a yellow hued glass, but it had the look of durability. Like usual, there weren't many people inside. There were two old men playing a game of chess and a young woman at her own table with food and drink, smoking a pipe and reading some papers. The flooring inside was a dark colored wood with a look that said it was lacquered and regularly cared for. There was the bar with its bar stools as well as the tables, but then there was an upstairs and downstairs area that looked to be rooms for rent. Siren art was carved everywhere, the type that looked like a bird with a womans head. There was a tall and well built woman with more than a few grey hairs behind the bar, though it didn't look like she was particularly busy at the time.

[attr="class","polarPOSTIT"] Yugo chuckled softly to himself as Joseph drove. Joseph spoke as if he wasn’t always as he appeared individual and that he hid his true self. Perhaps he did, and Yugo would need to brace himself for that reveal. But in truth… he didn’t care if he hid his true self. He still loved him, still loved those soft strange eyes and that wonderful hair. To Yugo, Joseph was as he was. A man who was full of the sweet love of humanity and a desire to do good despite all that had happened to him. Yugo couldn’t help but smile as he drove the group through the City Joseph had once called his own home. Yugo was quiet the entire time as they moved, until such time as they got out of the craft and began to lead the thiefs to the base. As Joeph ordered them to move he felt a stirring inside him. Once again the urge to kiss this man grew inside him, but he pushed it down till they were alone. It was like that gentle but firm order to the criminals had been toward himself. He moved as if on instinct leading the men inside with his lover and the entire time he smiled. If he was a dog his tail would be wagging furiously. [break][break] They went quietly, but Yugo felt an odd sense of danger. As if something had just been caused that would have consequences down the road. But he wasn’t sure if it was just a sense he was having, or perhaps his protective nature over Joseph. The way the thiefs and thugs looked at him made Yugo want to hit them. But he kept his calm as they dropped them off and wrote up a quick report. He was getting better at writing them up and getting them done quickly. He then walked with Joseph and let the man speak, but he didn’t lose his smile the entire time. It was soft and gentle, a smile of someone very content and at ease. He truly loved Joseph, and often felt uneasy at knight when he wasn’t next to him now. Though they slept in the same bed, they hadnt done anything untoward. As he spoke about wanting some palce quiet, yugo would gently take his hand and nod. “Where ever you go my sweet love, I will follow. So I think the tavern is a good idea. When we get there I will rent us a room, so we can be away from the crowd that might be there.” [break][break] The city was quiet as they walked, it was a sleepy area they were in it seemed. Which was fine with Yugo. He watched as the birds flew far above the city, and the quirrels raced along the roofs. He smiled and gently pointed them out to Joseph. Joseph tried to apologize but yugo simply shook his head. “There is nothing to apologize for my Hearts Desire. You are doing things none in this world besides a very few have ever had to deal with, I cannot expect this road we walk together to be easy, for life is not often that kind. But fret not, I will stand by you through harsh wind and harsher downpours.” he let Joseph respond about their first interaction and he smiled. “It was the first time someone in a long time had cared to talk to me in anyway to make me reconsider my actions. I…needed it. Just as I needed your words on the day you first came to our house. That throwing my life away to save others would only be helpful then and not to those who may need it later one had I survived.” [break][break] As they made their way to the Tavern Yugo would take in every detail he could. The scent of the ocean filled his nose, a smell he was only recently familiar with. His father never got the chance to take him to see the ships they owned, now sold along with their business holdings to his fathers partners. He was glad to see the dock was usable however. It filled him with an odd sense of nostalgia seeing the wooden dock and the massive ships at the sea. The bricks were aged but sturdy. And the iron door made it clear that the place had once had a wooden door, but needed to be replaced given how new the frame was compared to the rest. As they walked in he was hit with the smell of a seaside taven and he managed to keep his nose from wrinkling. He smiled and would let his lovers hand go or a moment. “Go find a table my dear sweet Beau, I shall get us food fitting your diet and a room for us to retire too for a little while.” he would smile and make his way past the two playing chess and stop at the bar where the barkeep would be finishing cleaning a set of glasses. They would speak for a moment and she would smile as he paid in full for the meal and the room and a little extra for the trouble. [break][break] He would make his way to where Joseph would have sat and he would smile sitting down with him, making sure that he was able to see the entire tavern from sitting. Ever since they ahd gotten together he had taken to increasing his skills in defensive arts and how to handle sitting in new places and with no knowledge of his current surroundings he knew the best place to sit with what he was given. He enjoyed the time he spent with Joseph but that didn’t mean he could let his guard down. With all the threats in the world he couldn’t afford to let his guard down even one ounce. He needed to make sure that at any time he could help save as many people as possible without sacrificing himself or the safety of others to do it.”So, I ordered us a surprise. A special treat fresh made by the Barkeepers Husband in the kitchen. I think youll enjoy it. It’s a bit sweet, but to balance it out I asked her to give us a good tea combination to go with it.”

It felt nice to have Yugo take care of some things. It was easier to calm down, though Joseph was still overflowing with thoughts and emotions. When being told to find a table to sit at, he quietly nodded. Finding a table with nobody near it was nice, so he walked over and sat down to wait for Yugo. If this was anyone else, would he feel so comfortable to depend on them? But it was his boyfriend and a person who earned that trust from the Golden Dawn member. It was just what was needed, the feel of the cool but sturdy table and chair. There was no padding, but the wood felt carved in a way that it catered to the shape of a person. It was the sort of craftsmanship that made even wood feel nice to it on. The pale man hadn't needed long to order and pay it seemed. The spot did make it easy to see everyone not in the kitchen or in a private room at this tavern, but Joseph hadn't really considered view when picking the table. It was second nature for him to be drawn to spots like this, one of the things that didn't need any deep thinking on the majority of the time. He smiled weakly towards Yugo. “Is it sweet savory, sweet spicy, or sweet sweet?” He didn't expect an answer, but food was a nice temporary focus. Food doesn't change your entire outlook on life on its own.
Things surrounding the food or that effect your view of it could give the item or items greater meaning, but it wasn't anything to consider on its own. Something fresh sounded nice and Joseph did prefer eating plant above meat. The man still ate meat and enjoyed seafood, but not as much as plants. This was all information the other already knew, so it wasn't something he was going to exactly rush over to tell. Then again, why would someone not eat seafood if they weren't a vegetarian and grew up near the ocean? “About what you said before... I helped you see that you needed to care for yourself, but you helped me as well. Before you, I wasn't always the best at caring for myself and it left my body and mind strain more against unusual stresses that could happen in life. You've even helped me with those, like you are right now.” The man wouldn't let his boyfriend think that this relationship had only helped one person. Joseph was no angel, though they were a nice person. His flaws might have been some of the very reasons he ended up helping Yugo, even if there had also been many foot in mouth events in his life. Knowing you're awkward didn't change the events and parts of him that could make situations feel that way, but at least he was getting better at talking with people.
It didn't seem like anyone was listening to Cobborn speak, though he wasn't exactly talking with a loud voice either. He wanted to lean against Yugo, but this wasn't the time and place. He felt so tired mentally and emotionally. “When we are together and I taste something, it's because I'm with you.” It was true. Being able to enjoy food past looking at medical properties and actually experience the flavors was because he ate with Yugo. Being with the other always seemed to make him feel better, which made it possible for the trauma to clear enough for him to experience flavor. Maybe in time he could heal enough where he could do that by himself, but that wasn't today.

[attr="class","polarPOSTIT"] As the two spoke and waited for the food, the cook in the back was busy preparing their meal his peg leg striking the ground as he walked. The man was tall and had the look of a man whom cooking was his reason for breathing. His hear was a light blond with a feathering of orange at the roots betraying his northern hertiage . his eyes were the color of seamoss and sprkled as the man beheaded and gutted a fresh grouper with one swift strike of his sharpened fish knife . the menu written on fine slate with sand chalk revealed the days menu : fresh fish chowder with dill, breaded grouper with garlic and fried octopus with fingerling potatoes. As the man worked the tavern buzzed with activity. Yugo would listen to Joseph speak and he would gently hold his hand. He would look him in the eyes and would smile. “We are not our flaws, they are only a part of us and exist within us. Our fears and insecurities are much the same way, but now we both have a way for us to express and learna dn grow in a healthy manner. All because we happened to run into each other on that fateful day in the first tavern we were in.” he paused then smiled. ‘I wonder how griswald is doing. I hope he has been fortunate in his life. I know I am greatful for the life I have now in a way I couldn’t hope to be before.” [break][break] The food would arrive, massive servings fitting the working men of the docks and the ships. Yugo couldn’t help but chuckle. “Seems we will need a nap after our meal. I havnt seen such large portions outside of the feasts ive been to. I am glad to share this meal with you Joseph. I am sorry for he lack of vegetables and plants, I know they are your favored dish. But I hope the quality of the fresh seafood will make up for it.” he would politely wait for Joseph to respond before he laid a napkin upon his lap and began to eat. He was shocked at the quality of the chowder, and the freshness of the squid and potatoes. “Obh my goodness, these are amazing. I…wasn’t expecting such food from the docks. I am glad we came here. Here Joseph, try the fried squid.” the barkeeper smirked and chuckled quietly to herself as she kept working as Yugo gently held up a fried quidling on a fork for his lover to try.

Joseph smiled a bit. Yugo was still naive, but their ability to learn was quite fast. It was like watching someone with a crows mind grow as they fly through obstacles bit by bit. “You're right.” Nobody as a human was perfect and that was okay. All one could do was strive to become better. They had both helped each other become better and had grown healthier together. Talking about meeting in a tavern? “We met in one, and now we're in a better one.” One was far less likely to find shady people here, unless that referred to a merchant aiming strong and hard on a good deal. There was faith in the couple that owned and ran this place would always keep this a friendly place. He looked at the large man with a smile, than at the food. “We need to talk to my father, than we can rest in a room after everything is over. There is plenty dairy, vegetables, and herbs in this food. ” The man typically avoided meat, but this didn't mean they outright refused to eat it. It only made sense that the portions would be large when coming to a place that serves those who work long and hard as their main clientele. Did they ever tell Yugo why he preferred eating plant above meats? It didn't feel like a large thing, but it was still something. Explaining it wasn't important to the young magic knight, but any detail is likely important when getting to know someone better.
“I believe that if one cannot kill something, they should not eat it. I'm referring to the act of killing itself, not hunting or catching.” He reached for the fried grouper first in the food, but paused when Yugo asked him to try the fried octopus. Honestly, it wasn't known how many items he had ordered from there before or what he had eaten. This was a place that was burned in their memories from a time where only slivers of that time was remembered. The first time visiting it could not be recalled, likely a child at that time. It was typically quiet so long as it wasn't too early in the morning, nor late at night. Those would be the hours many would be around the start of their work day, or the end. It meant those hours were when this place would be it's most active. He started cutting part of the breaded grouper as Yugo started to eat. The flesh was easy to cut into and the breading didn't slide off the meat. This as a sign of quality cooking and fresh ingredients. The fish tasted light and the texture was nice, it paired well with the crispy breading. It's meat was moist, a good contrast to the crisp and dry breading. “This couple has owned the tavern as far back as I can remember. The menu goes with the same changes each season.” There was no 'of course the food is amazing' or ,'the man must have had a lot of practice', or any attribution to fresh ingredients.
Some recipes call for older or pickled ingredients, and experience didn't always mean someone got better at something. Some restaurants had been said to be serving sub par food by others, but still managed to stick around for a long time. This place seemed to not change, though the owners and customers kept aging. New customers would come, some have likely stopped coming eventually. Death always eventually happens. Instead of responding verbally to the offered fried squid ring, the young man leaned over and took a bite. Of course it followed his mouth along and he had no choice but to grab the rest of the ring with a free hand. He didn't think it would be so soon that his heart would calm after being so stressed before. Maybe it was because this felt like the sort of place that danger wouldn't really pop up in, perhaps a sense of security caused by nostalgia. The texture was firm, the flavor was unexpected. Than again this was the first he could recall actually tasting squid instead of just eating it, so of course the taste would be a surprise. The texture wasn't a shock, so it was easy to continue the eating instead of rejecting all the new things at once. Soon enough the rest of the ring went into his mouth, making the rest of the ring fully consumed. “So that's what fried squid tastes like. I see why you're so excited, its very good.”
