[break] Well, well, well... everyone is so busy this time of year. There's so much merriment and energy that fills the air, it's a time like no other. Malcolm and I were talking about how we could be of service to help in this time of great stress as those with less struggle between eating and enjoying gifts with their loved ones. The church can indeed help with that but in all my years alive I've noticed that the best things are in the form of earning it, I'm sure many can agree. So, with that in mind, we decided that we would go hunting. Skins can be used for blankets or clothing, the meat can be used for food in a feast, the bones can be used for a multitude of things and anything that can't be will be returned to the ground. [break][break] There are many different kinds of herds in the Forsaken region, that being said we aren't going out of our way to completely wipe out entire herds more just thinning overpopulated ones, so, if there are less than eight within a herd, leave them alone. Anyone, found to not listen to this simple rule... they don't want to know the consequences. With that being said, happy hunting everyone! [attr="class","Solscroll"] Sol stood with a few of the other green mantis members as they got ready for the hunt that they would be hosting along with the black bulls,the tall man had arrived a little bit ago on one of his golems and was garbed in more winter attire with fur lining much of his attire inside but it was still battle ready and wasnt flowing since it wouldnt help him especially in such colder weather, as their captain mentioned that they would hunt to not only help those in need by using the skins for warmth and clothing the meat used for a feast and anything that couldnt be used would be returned to the earth in order to honor the creatures life. As he waited he caught the sounds of whispers around him and for once it wasnt about him which was a nice change of paces Sol had grown up dealing with such rumors that it honestly gotten to the point he shrugged them off but all the whispers at the moment were in excitement of the yule festival which brought a bright smile to the tall mans face
That being said he looked at the other members of his squad and smirked.”alright ready for a round of hunting everyone lets make this a hunt to remember and give everyone something delicious for the holidays” he called out to them getting the other members excited as they called back to him affirmatively, as he looked around he hoped to see his former squadmate Valo so they could hunt together and while it had hurt that Valo had transferred over to the black bulls Sol knew that it would be for the right reasons such as manpower needed as well as other things.The red eyed man was still intent on giving his friend a punch in the arm though for not giving him a warning but knew that this wouldnt change anything between them,”now where is he I know he wouldnt miss an event like this and I do want to see who is the better hunter” he said more to himself then anything else

It was that time of the hear again!! The Yule Hunt and Feast!! It had a while since Valo was able to participate in one of these events, usually being busy with a mission. But not this time!! This time he was free and he was ready! Nothing was going to get in the way of this, so much so in fact he left the Black Bull base very early.
Valo's excitement wasn't solely just because of the hunting and the feasting though, events like this also gave him the opportunity to see his old squad again Green Mantis!! Him leaving the squad was sudden and bitter sweet, but it was needed for many reasons. Black Bulls needed the help severely, and it would allow for both him and Sol grow without impeding on each other. Also now the Forsaken Region had two powerful mages in both squads to protect it.
Speaking of Valo wanted to see his bro Sol again!! Today was going to be a great day! Hunting and fighting some beasts, feasts! Seeing his old squad and his bro! Valo wasn't going to waste anytime at all. He didn't wait for anybody, wanting to have the most fun as possible. Valo was going to bring some of the hunt to them! The aura mage was already in the deep lands of the Forsaken Region doing some hunting, it wasn't long before he spotted and he was spotted by a massive herd of large mana beast mammoths, there had to like thirty of them!!
"That'll do perfectly!"
Instead of coming from the entrance point, Valo would make his arrival from the forest itself. Hanging off one the first large mana beast mammoth's tusks with a wide smile on his face. He saw his buddy Sol and some other familiar faces from his old squad. He took a deep breath. "WHAT ARE YALL WAITING FOR LET'S GET THIS HUNT STARTED!!!!!" He shouted from the top of his lungs at everyone in the waiting area! After the mammoth he was riding on, a large group of them were running behind!!

[attr="class","Solscroll"] Sol spotted his former squad mate Valo arriving from the forest on a mammoths tusk and as he called out to them to get the hunt started.” alright then lets get a numbers advantage shall we” he said as his eyes shifted from red to midnight blue as four dark wood trees would erupt ahead of him and would then twist themselves into fearsome looking wolves as the creator smirked a bit.”well Valo shall we see who can get the most” he said as he rushed forward with his golems rushing forward as well, as the squad had seperated and went deeper into the forest Sol was making sure to keep pace with everyone and his wolves were staying in a semi close formation since once they found a few packs of prey then they would strike when the chance presented itself. From the corner of his eye the Pale mantis spotted a pack of wild boar but there was only five of them so they were off limits. He quickly pushed forward and kept looking with his wolves moving ahead as well.
As luck would have it ahead Sol spotted a heard of 15 deer and it was a mix of both bucks and does with no fawns so it was prime pickings,Sols wolves suddenly lunged forward as he gave them a command thru the teather and instantly the herd went into a panic as two of the wolves rushed forward and managed to get the two of the deer by the leg to slow them down before inflecting a death bite to put the animals out of pain as fast as possible while the other two had lunged and went straight for the throat on two deer and had bitten with more then enough force to instantly kill them. Sol meanwhile had managed to see one running in his direction and he quickly closed the gap before unsheathing his katana upward in one strike had stuck the animal in the neck causing it to fall due to blood loss before he quickly moved forward.”thank you for giving your life I promise you will be honored” he said softly before he slid his katana into the deers chest just under the shoulder where the organs and heart were located so that way he ended its life quickly.Sol removed his blade before flicking it quickly causing I the blood to be flung off before he grabbed a small cloth from in his clothes and he wiped down the blade before he sheathed it
the Mantis grabbed the deers antler and started to drag it thru the snow towards where the others were that could prep and make sure the deer was put to use as his wolf golems would do the same some grabbing antlers in their jaws while others grabbed by the neck and would start to drag them as well, while younger men might have difficulty with the weight of such a animal but for any magic knight that did daily training especially physical traning the beasts were barely any strain on the body. Meanwhile Sols golems were without limit as they didnt have stamina to lose so they couldnt get tired and soon enough the Delothosin had brought back 5 freshly killed deer and he looked at one of the preppers with a small smile.”if you can send some of this to the green mantis base I would be very grateful I know some of my squad mates would greatly enjoy some roasted venison for the holiday season” he said as his wolves while looking vicious were just sitting beside him in a line all of them at ease and ready for another round of hunting as his command.

[attr="class","Solscroll"] Sol glanced around as he saw that many more knights were pulling in wild game as well ranging from deer to elk to even some wild boar and as he saw how much was being pulled in he debated about ducking out to enjoy some of the other festivities, he had contributed well since five full grown deer was a good chunk of meat since if each one yielded at least fifty eight pounds of meat then he just netted two hundred and ninty pounds to be given to those that need it as well as the fur and other parts. Looking to his wolves they were all sitting with their tails wagging and their faces relaxed as he moved over and gave each one a pat on the head, it was odd since they were basicly extensions of himself but he still treated them as companions.”alright boys I think we scored plenty of meat and furs best not to take all the prey so rest up” he said as the wolves curled up before starting to crumble away.
As they finished dispersing Sol would turn to head towards the noble region he had heard there were more activities going on there so it would be a good place to see some more of the festival, seeing that Valo was still busy grabbing more of the wild game Sol looked at a nearby black bull that was bringing in two boar carcasses and he spoke.”can you pass on a message to Valo for me let him know I went on ahead but when he wants to catch up meet me at the green mantis base for lunch” he said his tone was calm and the black bull blinked before they smiled and nodded at him and he gave a small bow back before he would start walking off towards the Royal Capital

Racing in by broom, it would seem that he had missed the start sign by a while as those that had gathered here had already started. Riding the broom down and into the treeline, Gawain began shifting his position into a more horizontal one alongside the length of the flying tool itself. Doing so, he limited the speed by which he moved, but also severely decreased the chances of him hitting a thick branch as he sped himself through the woodland. Having to make up for some lost time, he’d value speed over hunting prowess and stealth, even though moving in by air was in and of itself relatively stealthy as it took away the sound of footsteps and made it more difficult for the animals to catch his scent by moving against the air as quickly as he did. Moving over a bunch of deer, Gawain could have landed then and there and be done with it.
Deer were among the woodland creatures that usually numbered quite high, and at times needed to be culled by hunters when the wolves, mountain lions and bears alone wouldn’t be enough to keep them in check. This mattered because during the cold months, having too many deer in the same spot meant they all ate the greenery that remained at a rate that eventually caused widespread starvation and death among their own population, as well as among other herbivores. It was one of those things Griswold had taught him, though he had done so as part of one of his many debates regarding morals and ethics. He believed that there would eventually come a point where humanity would need to be culled in large numbers for the same reason, even though such a thing would never be approved by any kind of higher authority. Truly, there were times when he believed his former mentor might have been a villain disguised as a hero.
Still, he understood the point the man had been trying to make, he just didn’t really understand it all that well at the time. He still didn’t fully grasp the concept right now either, though he at least understood why people did it with deer. For now though, his goals were set on something larger that might inspire some more awe once he brought it in to be skinned, gutted and prepared for dinner.
