[attr="class","text"] [attr="class","header"]Lance[break]Sinclair So, when's lunch? [attr="class","header"]Appearance
At a passing glance, Lance is nothing remarkable. He had black eyes and hair, standing at a little below average height. His hair is shaggy and spiky, kept at a medium length. No attempt at styling it, with it just being bedhead. He has a lean build, built for speed, with olive skin. With his calloused hands, and worn clothing he often wears, he very much looks like the peasant he is. Dotted across his shoulders, there are scars from wolf bites, from attempts at scalding that may have gone in a bit too deep. He prefers to wear black, dark red, and green. Any given outfit he wears is very simple, with a random combination of clothing items he wears. However, his Magic Knight cape is a staple with most outfits. [attr="class","header"]Personality Lance is excitable, curious, and is pretty self-confident. Often to the point of blind confidence, which can get him in trouble. He's insanely stubborn, and once he makes up his mind, he isn't the type to change it easily. He has a lot of confidence in his instincts. After all, his gut had never let him down. He had made it this far following it. Lance will often have a cocky smirk plastered across his face. He’s always looking for excitement, whether from meeting new people, going to new places, and trying new stuff. There is a lot out there to experience. But as a result of this, he’s a bit impulsive and easily distractible. He’s fiercely loyal to his close friends and squadmates and considers them his “pack.” He doesn’t trust folks outside of his “pack”. It takes time for him to warm up to someone, but once they gain his respect, he’s a ride or die friend. He has a strong detest for people who act rude toward him or his “pack”. He’ll go as far as baring his teeth and growling and stepping into the fray on behalf of them. He’s relatively happy with what he has, not caring for money or fame. Rather he just wants to do good by his adoptive father. And while helping people is his primary goal, as a magic knight, he soon developed a love of combat. It reminds him of his days hunting with the pack, and he’s a sucker for the adrenaline rush. He fights unorthodoxly, relying on wild unpredictable movement. [attr="class","header"]History Lance was a mistake that was soon regretted by his parents.Both of his parents were stubborn to a fault, too prideful to back down. Their love was one of passion, and not substance, with their personalities and viewpoints often clashing negatively. Manipulation and deceit were commonplace between them. While each of them had the vague hope that nurturing something they had made together, would help them mend their relationship, their motives weren’t good. In the end, control was the thing that mattered most. Lance was an excitable and curious child, always ready to explore whatever was around the corner. He had endless energy, and for the two parents who didn’t want the job, he was too much. But both were too stubborn to be the one to end things. That would make them the loser in the relationship. While he was often given the bare essentials to live, the two were very hands off in raising Lance. As Lance grew older, the drinking started. This primarily came from his mother, and when drunk, she would spew verbal abuse toward her husband and physical abuse toward her son. By this point. Lance’s father had checked out from the relationship and would find whatever reason he could to stay out late. He ignored the screaming and the mysterious bruises that would appear on their son. While he despised his family, he didn’t want to admit he was ever wrong. A feeling both parents shared. When Lance was around seven years old, he began to gain some understanding of the abuse he was suffering. Unable to fully understand the tragedy of his life, he still understood this wasn’t right. If he was loved by his parents, why did he always feel so low? Even when standing right next to them. He had one friend though. During his time left unmonitored, he would often wander around the edge of the nearby woods. During one trip deep into the woods, he came across a wolf, whose leg was caught in a rope snare trap. The boy tried a hasty approach to help the animal, only to receive a shallow bite on his left shoulder. And while the pain was a lot for the young boy, he fought through it. He quickly returned home with dried meat to act as a way to calm the animal, and as the sun began to set after hours of work, he was able to get close enough to free the animal. It seemed grateful to the boy. It felt like Lance had made a friend. He returned to an empty home. After a few hours, his family would return, separately of course. And neither of them acknowledged the poorly wrapped injury on their son. They just didn’t care for him. It was like he didn’t matter. A few months later, after a particularly rough beating from his mother, Lance made up his mind. He was going to run away. After he left, his parents didn’t care about his absence. They barely even looked for him, only doing the bare minimum to keep up appearances. Eventually, they split, and it took the kid binding them presumably dying for them to end the stalemate that had been their relationship. But Lance did live, and to a degree, he thrived. At first, he was proud of himself, excited for this new chapter of his life. But this enthusiasm began to waver as the days went on. But on the brink of starvation, he got lucky. He came across a large pack of wolves, devouring a deer they had taken down. While they were hostile at first, one prominent member of the pack was recognizable to the boy. The wolf he had helped. While the boy wasn’t allowed to join them in their meal, they did leave scraps for him, accepting his presence. A returned favor. Lance began to live on the outskirts of this pack. He’d follow them, and do what he could to help, but things were tense. He got snapped at time and time again. Lance learned to adapt, becoming more and more wild, watching the wolves and mimicking them to survive. He learned to stalk, to hunt, to survive. And slowly but surely, the human living on their outskirts became a member of their pack. And while he was seen as the lesser at first, he slowly found his place. By the time he was thirteen, he had found himself far away from where he had started his journey. One day, while they were near a town, he came across a hunting party, who took the child back with them by force. He resisted but was outnumbered and overpowered. He was taken to the local orphanage run by an old priest by the name of Warren Sinclair. His patience and kindness felt bottomless and did his best to teach Lance how to be more civilized. After a year of living with Warren, the two developed a close bond. And the man officially adopted Lance, seeing him as his son. When Lance was fifteen he received his grimoire and early had a firm grasp on wind magic. But feeling respect and indebted to Warren, he stayed, helping the orphanage. But Warren was getting old, and when Lance was nineteen, Warren passed. Lance was at his side in his last moments, with Warren’s final message being a somber one Warren had wanted to be a magic knight in his youth, but chickened out, before taking his exam. So he went to work for the church running this orphanage, wanting to still help the people of this kingdom. And, while he was happy with the work he had done and all the children he had helped. But he had always wondered what could have been. “Don’t let your fear of failure prevent yourself from living. Go and make something of yourself.” Thinking about his adoptive father’s final message, Lance decided he would become a Magic Knight. Taking up the path Warren never did. Packing what little he had, he went to Kikka to take his exam. He passed, catching the intrigue of the Black Bull’s captain with his unique way of moving. And now it was time to be the Magic Knight Warren could have been. [attr="class","header"]Magic
MAGIC DESCRIPTION: Lance likes to think the way he uses his magic works perfectly for wind. Hitting fast and hard is his biggest motto, primarily sticking to close and mid ranges. Lance uses his control over wind to either boost his abilities or create large scale attacks. By harnessing the natural freedom of movement within the element of air, he weaves wind around him to not only increase his speed but the force behind his attacks. For close range, he relies on his limbs being engulfed in this fiercely spinning wind, fighting more like an animal than a mage. But once he slips into mid-range, he relies more toward creating compressed blasts of spinning air. He’ll often create localized twisters, even launching them horizontally to force his opponents movement, primarily to take advantage of better positioning.
