Genesis Fantôme
La Poste
And explode it did.
The orb burst like a mini firecracker, though it was more deadly than those crackling poppers. The redhead felt the searing heat, the sudden burst of mana that momentarily engulfed and blinded her. She had leapt back at the explosion, but still got caught in its large explosion area. It seemed like the explosion itself had scuffed her more than the burn effects. Thankfully, her mana skin had taken the brunt of it, although the fire had still hurt.
Genesis sighed in relief. She was still alive. Scuffed, but alive.
Then she felt intense heat on her left upper arm. She glanced down, and saw that her sleeve was being burned away. “Ah!” She yelped, using her free hand to pat it down and put out the flames. A wayward spark must have caught onto her clothes from the orb, and it had quickly claimed much of her sleeve. She sighed. Honestly, she was more worried about her clothes getting burned away than the skin underneath it. She was a commoner, and yul for new clothes was not something easily accessible. Guess it would be time to pick up some new odd jobs after this to replace her top.
Unbeknownst to her, the newcomer to the group had the ability to heal, and had activated one of her spells that encompassed Gen in its range. The shadow mage could now feel its soothing effects, and see a strange glow around her. There were some sort of mysterious writings or runes in the air, but it was foreign to her. She had never seen anything like that before, much less received any type of healing, so it was a strange new experience for her. She gazed in wonder as the damages were swiftly healed and repaired.
She glanced around for the user, wishing to express her gratitude at the timely save. At the sight of the witch, the redhead would approach a little closer and bow slightly. “Merci. I owe you one.” If anything, she was annoying formal when it comes to respect, but a save was a save, and she would make sure that debt was paid in full.
She also noticed that the citizen that was knocked out had also been revived, and was now standing up with a sword in hand. “Nice.” The redhead commented, briefly admiring the blade. She was always drawn to blades like moth to a flame, and loved nothing more than studying those sharp weapons.
It seemed like the others in the group had also thought about attacking the orbs, and also received similar damages. Attacking them could work, but it was risky, not knowing just how much damage each dealt. It seemed like some dealt more than others, but there was no way to tell which did how much damage. In addition, there was no way the healer would be able to keep up if all of them attacked—at least, that was what the young woman assumed, though the healer could well be some genius mage that she has yet to know.
Apparently she was. Not only had the witch used a healing spell, she had also conjured up some golems to where the dark mage—Hans, he said—was. Gen had not really noticed the brooms that had been around, but she saw them now. It was quite fascinating, really, just how versatile the other mage was. She could only wonder what other interesting spells the other had in her grimoire.
Then a movement caught her eye. Actually, movements. What? The orbs that were heading towards the mausoleum were merging together now, replaced by something else. A menacing presence, one that was now...above her? Genesis’ head snapped up, red hair whipping at the sudden movement. It was unfamiliar, yes, but unnervingly sinister. She got similar vibes like when she was in the presence of the daemon. The hushed realization of the newcomer.
Ah, so his servant has arrived. Grey-green eyes narrowed at the new danger. If only she could see it clearly, she would try to gauge its powers and abilities. She gritted her teeth in frustration. The abnormal shadows had clocked her vision and her hearing, and using her ki would limit her abilities greatly. Too great, it would not be worth using. At least, not at the moment.
So she would wait. She would bide her time. She would wait to see the enemy’s first move first, then adjust accordingly. Unless it would let her take a stab at it first. She doubted it would be so easily taken down, though.

Summary: Received junior damage from the orb she attacked in previous post (rolled 1), received healing from Seren and thanked her, admired Elliot's sword, noticed Ito (dun dun DUNNN)

Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
Valo went to go scout in the opposite way of Genesis, Hans, and Charles since things seemed to slow down now, he used this time to gather his thoughts. Every moment there was something new since this whole things started, his home covered in darkness with little to no answers. The only thing he did know was that some kind of Daemon was behind it all, and not to long ago he just looked this Daemon face to face. Whatever this being was it was dangerous, extremely dangerous and now it threatened Kikka the place he grew up. To add on top of that, it seemed the lives that were mostly in danger were actual children. Children, kids innocents that had absolutely nothing to do with any of this. Valo was full of so much anger and grief, it was starting to become unbearable. And the young knight had no answers to any of it, there was never a clear answer not once so far. Everything was an illusion or a trick, or a deal, or some kind of puzzle that would just lead to more lives lost.
Valo took a deep breath as he continued to walk and secure whatever he could see of the perimeter, his sense of sight still small and sense of hearing cut in half. He made sure not to take to many steps away from the rest of the group. But his mind was still heavy and clouded, he felt so useless now. Valo was a criminal, a thug, a member of a gang in these very streets of Kikka, now he just playing at this magic knight stuff. Of course he wouldn't have any answers for any of this, he didn't even know what a Daemon was before today. Now he was supposed to fight against one while a town was covered in darkness, how? Just how? Every move they made was just another plan or trap created by this Daemon creature. Valo was now beginning to doubt himself, his confidence starting to waver. This was rare for the magic knight, usually he was extremely over confident, cocky at times. But that was only he could just punch his way out of something, if it came down to a fight Valo wouldn't back down to anyone. But this wasn't something he could just solve with a punch, this was something different entirely.
He stood in place and looked at his surroundings, he knew exactly where he was he spent quite some time in this graveyard. Not a lot of fights happened here when he was a kid, but some did. Then something hit Valo as he remembered something, he looked towards his lower right and squinted really hard. He saw a fresh batch of flowers on a particular tombstone. "Mr. Gazelle is over there...that means he must be...not to far from my left." Valo said to himself quietly for no one else to hear. Valo turned to his left and took a few steps in that direction, he squinted his eyes passing over some tombstones. Some names he recognized, others he didn't but then he found what he was looking for. It was a small brown tombstone, made with some wood obviously not done by a professional. Valo crouched down and read the tombstone, it just read "Rocky We'll always love you." on top. Valo touched the tombstone lightly, right on a burn mark made by him years ago. Rocky was a lost puppy that Valo and his gang took in when they were just kids, Rocky was part of the family just like anyone else. Rocky was fiercely loyal and protective a little to much at times, with Valo and his gang always getting into some kind of trouble. One day they messed with the wrong guy, who not only took out on them but their little partner too. All it took was one spell for the little guy to lose his life, Valo never looked at things the same way ever again. "I promised Rocky back then, I would do a lot less hurting and a lot more protecting. Thats all I can really do now is keep that promise." Valo said starting to stand up again. But as he stood up he heard a lot of commotion, more screams and yelps of pain. Then orbs of varying sizes started to show up in the air, something was happening and it probably wasn't going to be good.
Valo started to speed walk back to where the others were, he saw Elliot on the ground right beside Artemis. A confused look on his face, the child Artemis was doing her best to comfort was not doing so well. This whole situation just got a whole lot worse, of course it did. Why would it get any better? Valo was close enough to the group to see what was happening, he heard Artemis's command to stop the orbs of fire from hitting the mausoleum. Of course it was in Valo's nature to attack at whatever threat he faced, so attacking some fire made orbs now would be no problem. His grimoire floated to his side blazing with flames as the magic knight was about to launch a spell, but he stopped himself from doing so. He saw an orb get hit and exploded right there on the spot, hitting Genesis. Valo's eyes widened as he was what happened, he ran to her quickly to make sure she was ok. "Genesis! Are you alright?!" he asked quickly. After confirming she was ok, Valo saw a spell no correction he saw multiple spells start to be activated in the area. A healing spell started to heal the wounded, the ones that had gotten hit from the explosion of the orbs. Multiple spells of defense and golems blocking the path between the orbs and the structure. He saw the witch that joined them late, was a pretty versatile and powerful to boot. She was an odd one for sure, but from the looks of it she was very much needed.
Just moments after that the orbs started to combine and slowly start to form into one, but just one orb of flames. It was a Daemon Artemis confirmed it with her shout, the next order was to hold it off and by some time. Now the group would be facing a Daemon without their strongest mage at their side. Valo looked up at the Daemon, it was powerful he could feel it. But he had no fear of the creature, his order was to hold it off and that is what he intended to do. If anything he felt a jolt of excitement in his veins. "Finally something I can hit...I hope. You guys ready?" he would ask the group around him, as he prepared for a fight.

"And~ I~ Seren~ thank you for standing with us in the defense of love and justice~ niho~"
Seren nodded with a smile.
So her name is ‘Merci’ huh~ that's very very pretty and I like it very much~ I should take the time to learn the other's names as well, but there just hasn't been a good chance. I suppose I'll have to make like a sage and make do~ niho~
Seren at first breathed a sigh of relief as the orbs receded but her face gradually shadowed as she saw where and how exactly they were. Her eyebrows rose as her smile sank into a very tired frown.
“Haaaaah~”
Seren sighed again, this time in exhaustion as her gaze followed upward. Demon. There was a demon. Seren was pretty sure that was a demon up there hovering and looking down on her.
What did he want with the orbs and the child then~ niho~ demons are very very confusing~ even though I am wise~
The witch thought as she noticed her party gazing upon what she did. ~Well niho! The only thing we can really do~
Seren glanced at Artemis briefly out of the corner of her eye.
~Is try to buy some time Niho~
Slowly, Seren recalled her three broom golems back to her side and mounted one. She also maintained her healing spell as she continued to watch the demon. Any move and a brutal fight would probably begin, and so, she held her position and remained fairly still. These were some precious few seconds of time, if they added up to even 60-fold it could very well be a godsent minor miracle.
The witch could tell little about her target, but she was certain they were outclassed. Even so, Seren knew she had no other options but to make the best of it.
A deep breath.
Seren had a spell on the tips of her lips, but now was not the time to utter it.
Soon.
Soon everything would once again be on the line once more.
*** Combat Summery and Notes: 1) Maintained Fairy Tender on Hans, Charles, Elliot, and Genesis healing them for Int Health. 2) Seren recalled her brooms, she mounted one, and she has the other two beside her and ready to defend her.

The moment his two spells hit the two orbs the exploded. This damaged his mana skin which protected him from getting injured from the explosion that just occurred. Charles flinched from the explosion even though his mana skin protected him this didn't mean he couldn't feel the pain from the attack. The black bull took a brief look around his surroundings to see if the rest of the group was doing alright. For the most part, it seemed like the rest of the group was doing just fine, at least Genesis and Valo were. Artemis was still busy dealing with the child. [break][break] A moment later he felt a gentle sensation around him. Unknown to him the mage from the Blue Rose, Seren had healing magic. This certainly made things better, as he was now aware they counted with a healing mage to help them out. "This is much better... If it wasn't for you we will be screwed, thanks..." He appreciated the healing coming from the Blue Rose, this gave them a chance to go against whatever was ahead of them. If it wasn't for her they will very well be screwed. She was also healing the rest of the group that could've possibly got injured by the explosions from the orbs. The sensation of the magic healing his body felt quite nice. It wasn't often he found himself in battles that resulted in him getting injured to the point he needed healing magic. As far as he remembered none of the Black Bulls counted with healing magic either so this was one of the very few occasions he could experience the effects of such magic. The orbs and the fired were now gone. Did they succeed in preventing those orbs and fire from reaching the child? [break][break] The orbs and fire he believed were gone were now forming into something. They formed an evil presence similar to the one he felt at the start of the attack and when they first encountered the Arch-Daemon near the hospital. The Daemon didn't seem to possess the same amount of strength as the previous Daemon. So he could only think the Daemon in front of them was the servant. Even though this was just the servant, it still presented a threat to the group and the child. The situation was now serious, Charles was about to fight someone who was well above him, the possibility of dying was real here, but he had no option. The lazy magic knight had no option, saving that child could possibly lead them to have a chance and win against the Daemon. He made a mistake which almost costed the lives of several children. If his lazy ass could accomplish something today, he was going for it. [break][break] Analyzing the situation as best as he could. He didn't believe they will have a chance of defeating the Daemon, but the best thing they could was to buy time for Artemis to get the child out of the trap. As long as Seren was safe she could keep healing them. If Seren was safe it meant they will be able to carry on fighting and buy time. If the Daemon noticed that Seren is the one healing them then it's likely she will try to target her first. After all, getting rid of the healer will make it easier for him to wipe out the rest of the group. "Make sure he doesn't get close to her..." Charles said, pointing out to the rest of the group that Seren was a priority. It will be preferable for someone like Hans to use a defense creation spell on her to protect her from any incoming attacks before the Daemon makes his move. For now, he will have to pay attention to the enemy's next movement to get a glimpse of his true power... [break][break]
“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
The two orbs that Hans targeted appeared to have been engulfed by his spell! A sigh of relief escaped the man since he was honestly not sure what to expect. Even though these were conjured up by a Daemon, it was still magic, and that meant they could be absorbed by the merc's spell. Still, this bit of knowledge didn't mean that the dark mage could relax now. He still needed to keep this up.
Then a small explosions occurred nearby...
Seems that these things aren't as harmless as they look. Looking in the direction of the explosion, Hans was just about to open his mouth to say something until he felt a soothing warmth surround his body. With a surprised look, Hans took notice of the strange runes surrounding himself. For a split second he thought this was another trap, but this magic started to feel familiar. Although it wasn't particularly this kind of magic, Hans has been in the presence of healing spells before and despite not having taken any damage, the feeling of this spell has made it obvious that it was here to do more good than harm.
Looking around for the source of this spell, Hans quickly took notice of the witch landing by him as well as her strange looking broom golems. So she's a healing mage? It was someone that this group desperately needed. "Er..." The merc blinked then glanced at one of his "puffy" sleeves and was just about to pull at it before stopping himself. This wasn't the time to get caught up in the woman's nonsense! The man's suspicions of her was beginning to decrease however. Maybe she wasn't so bad after all.
"R-right....Thanks." Hans gave her an acknowledging nod before hearing footsteps coming their way. It appeared to be Gen and the fire mage, the former giving the witch a much more formal thanks followed by Charles. The dark mage now felt a little guilty for not trusting the woman, and rubbed the back of his neck, but in this situation, could he really be blamed?
The orbs and flames had started to change course, appearing to no longer be targeting the child. Instead, they all started to merge together and started to form a shape that grew more and more humanoid. "Something's happening..." Hans muttered, focusing fully on them.
The shape turned into a daemon, causing Hans to immediately draw his sword in its direction. It didn't look like the one the group encountered earlier, meaning that this must be the servant. Even though it wasn't the same one, Hans wanted to cut the daemon down just as badly, but the enthusiasm from the fire mage caused the merc to lower his blade a little. Just like with the orbs, what if...this ended up being another illusion? What if this so called servant is actually another innocent child being used as bait!? "Th-this could be another illusion...." he muttered to himself.
The more Hans thought of this possibility, the harder it became for him to actually fight. The last time he acted so rash, children got hurt. With both hands on the hilt of his sword, Hans grit his teeth. "Dammit...." he cursed to himself for feeling this weak and paranoid.
Charles would then say something that grabbed the merc's attention. He looked over to the silver mage then to the witch he was pointing at. If this was in fact the real deal, then Charles might have a point. At the moment, Hans wasn't exactly confident about attacking, but defending was a different story. "I got this." Hans claimed as he took the magic broom from his back and stood upon it, using it to float by the witch while he motioned his two black holes back to him, one floating idly by his shoulder while the other floated by the woman's. He was going to see to it that she doesn't get hurt...or at least try.
"Stay alert..." Hans said, talking to everyone within hearing distance before looking back towards the daemon with eyes narrowed.

Sven had once again faded from the vision of the trio using the shadows as a way to move quickly and silently through the town and back to the church to watch what happened next, to be honest, he could have done it from anywhere in the city and have a front-row seat due to the shadow that was wrapping itself around the entire town as if chocking it of any all life. As he appeared in the upper section of the church he'd be sat on the seat a glass of something in his hand. He knew that his servants Ito and Lilitu didn't agree with his decision on giving the group the Blue Rose mage, it had given them additional strength to fight against them which was a bit of a pain where there honestly shouldn't be any but at the same time they knew their master had done it for a reason, well, there was that and the fact that Sven was prideful but given the tactics, he had been using he had every reason for that arrogance he had constantly shown thus far to the group. "If you have any issues speak now." he said to the pair who remained silent, they knew better than to question there less than stable master. Yes, he was a daemon known for holding a twisted sense of honour, for being arrogant, prideful and toying with people but he was also cunning, deceitful and cruel. He had no problem removing his apparent allies any slower than he would enemies and they knew it, it was just in the nature of their race; if you outgrew your usefulness or even annoyed someone higher up in the food chain you were often snuffed out of existence. However, Sven favoured the pair out of all his retainers and so would take their council from time to time, this by no means meant he was going to take it on board nor did it mean they would escape his ire if they spoke out of tongue so they remained quiet, at least for the moment.
He watched the three who had previously remained, he knew that the blonde-haired vice-captain would have trained hard to get to her sensory peak and he had made it all moot in a single movement. She was a rose indeed however he was sure she had some sharp thorns that he had effectively removed. He chuckled quietly to himself, he knew that he had been intimidated to agree that he wouldn't harm them while the civilians remained in their homes but she was still an amateur in regards to putting things in her benefit. She could have changed the tide of the game or at least balanced it a bit but due to her young age and inexperience, she didn't think about every eventuality. Sure, he would keep to his words and so longs they abided by his order and remained inside he wouldn't harm the citizenry, it would make no sense to, at least at the moment as he would need 'servants' during his reign until he got bored and wanted a new domain. What she hadn't stated was that he wouldn't damage the buildings or even that anyone under his control would be under the same restraints that he himself was. There was also no mention that he couldn't order the citizens out of their homes so he could deal with them, it was a marvellous development and couldn't wait to see how things would progress as they would likely not trust their new member at least at first as a Daemon had given her to them.
"Where are you both?" he sent to his servants alone waiting for them to reply "I'm currently at the town hall, such wonderful things here my lord" Lilitu stated with a sinister undertone "I have big plans in your name my lord Sven, they will not know what hit them I assure you." she finished knowing that their lord would hear and likely be giddy at the thought of the surprise to come. "I am at the graveyard my lord. I am watching the three that had separated from the ones that remained with yourself and to call them fools would be doing fools a disservice" he said with a frustrated sigh. "One scream..." he commented his eyes looking back at the group below "Ah, they must have asked a question so I'm assuming everything is in place." Sven retorted "We've yet to fail you and we wouldn't start now." Ito replied confirming the assumption that had been made in regards to the graveyard. "It was a close call but luckily I can work faster than their minds can analyse they need to breath." he said not caring if he was putting the group down, to the noble daemon they were nothing but cattle and so below him. Very few took into consideration the views or feelings of animals or plants, there was a pecking order and to him, Daemons were by far the superiors here. Sven could only chuckle at his servants words as he knew he and his sister had a distaste for the mortal population. "Very good." he didn't say much more as he noted himself that Artemis and the others were now close to the graveyard and it was time for the show to really begin as they tried to figure out what was so important about this child without ending their existence.
Ito silently snickered as he brought his hand to his head shaking it when the Black Bulls mage claimed it to be a curse 'Is that all these fools think negative things are able to be? Curses? They're in for a rude awakening in that is indeed the case.' he thought to himself wondering how in the stream of time this race had survived so long, surely, they should be extinct with their apparent idiocy. "At least he realises they are working against time, now to see if he guesses the triggers but if I was to hold my breath I may end up suffocating." he said crouching from one of the other tombs he had been watching from, he needed to be here just in case they somehow got smart but without help, it was unlikely it would happen, still when it was triggered it would still be amusing to watch their reactions. He was salivating at the potential despair that this would cause the entire group because it wasn't a case of if it happened but when it would happen. He had taken into note that the Black Bulls mage had called for a perimeter to be made, he smiled knowing that though this place was highly trapped nothing was currently active and by the poor reactions of the group they hadn't the sensory to notice the traps that spelled their deaths once they had been inevitably activated. He smiled watching as the red-headed woman said that she would keep watch, he had to admit he found it fascinating that none of them seemed to ask each other's names yet were willing to work together.
Ito had a glimmer of delight when the redhead said that they should take the young girl back to the others of their group, he wanted to see them touch his mausoleum trap and watch as the three idiots killed themselves and their prize in one fail swoop. He deafened the girl as a second question was asked, there was no way she had heard it, it was true he wanted to see their destruction but at the same time he knew better than to upset his lord or his games so would draw it out for as long as he possibly could, it was only right after all they should all share the blame for this child's suffering in his mind. "You are serving your master well child, perhaps you will be reborn as something more fitting than an ant your next life." he said calmly, where he didn't like humans he did believe that if you died in service to someone of a higher stature you may be born again in a more worthy form. Hearing her words about a 'game' he couldn't help but cover his mouth to stifle a chuckle. No, it hadn't been the children that had been made to play anything but the parents of the towns fighting and cunning that had made her be the winner of such a fate. Humans who would do anything they could to defend their young even going against their natural personas and do things they would otherwise revile. To him, this was pitiful and made them more demonic than his own kin as at least they knew they would sell out each other to get ahead.
And then it happened the vice-captain of the green mantis, the blue rose mage and the two citizen entered the graveyard, he watched in anticipation to see what would happen next. He had no idea what his master had been planning as though he was cunning, devious and sly he was a bit on the chaotic side, he was like the shadows themselves an enigma and that made him all that much more dangerous. This entire town was nothing more than a giant chess board for the one he served and he was controlling the board masterfully but then he had been alive for so long that he had time to know what to expect for mortals to do in certain situations and used that to his advantage. That being said he had to wonder what the vice-captain had done as from his research her squad had a reputation of doing the dirty work that no other guild would do and that they would take in those who had done less than savoury things in the past. Problem was Ito believed that if a person was willing to betray once then they would do so again if the price was right and everyone had that price, even the town had shown that before these would-be heroes turned up to try and stop them subjugating this town.
The three daemons had noticed upon their arrival that there was a magic knight squad headquarters and Lilitu had even gone ahead to survey the place to see if the type of threat they would hold. There were, of course, some knights there but nothing she couldn't handle. Playing the damsel in distress she had managed to charm them into fighting each other, the loyalists she couldn't charm were then put to sleep and those under her control were then ordered to take them to a well-fortified part of their squad before she had them bind themselves and she locked the door on them. Both Ito and Lilitu had to wonder why did the citizens flee to the church instead of the magic knight squad, surely it was them who would save them and not the church. Did the people of Kikka have such little faith in the magic knight squad that were calling this place home? He found it quite amusing that they turned to faith over their protectors but for now they were out of action and so they only had to deal with the group that was still in the city and had seemed to have been in it from the beginning which was quite astounding from the get-go he had to admit as the chances of finding so many people willing to stand against them in the same city at the same time doing day to day things well he was pretty sure there was more chance of one of their books falling into one of their hands which hadn't happened in a while from his knowledge.
He heard the woman call out as she entered the graveyard warning them exactly what his shadow mausoleum was, he had to admit he was curious as to how she knew that without even looking at it, then he noticed the bracelet on her wrist knowing it to be his master's relic. The bracelet was a double-edged sword to its wielder as it would give information but it wasn't always accurate and sometimes it gave false positives so it would be interesting to see if she could sieve through the information and pick the out true information over the pieces that were deceitful but only time would tell on that one. He did have to wonder what his master was thinking by giving such a thing to her of all people but he trusted his judgement on the matter as he had no reason to doubt him as everything had been as he had foreseen as far as he knew. He now sat watching as the green mantis vice-captain informed the others that if they dared touch the mausoleum that it would likely set off a chain reaction and was starting to hate that bracelet as much as its current host likely was as it was ruining his own enjoyment. At least she knew that it wasn't a curse on the child and so could educate the rest of them on the matter, even to the point that she told them they needed to find a way to deactivate it. "Easier said than done, but I will enjoy seeing you trying to find a way to stop something this complex. One last thing tick tock the timer hasn't stopped. Have fun because I am." he whispered into the shadow but allowed it to travel to Artemis alone just to taunt her a little.
He had watched the other green mantis member react to his commanding officer 'So sweet that I want to barf.' Ito thought to himself as he raised his hand preventing the child yet again from hearing another question, already three questions had been asked and he knew there was more to come so could bide his time. He knew that by blocking some and allowing others they wouldn't have any rhyme or reason so it would likely cause a bit of squabbling amongst the group as they played the blame game or at least leave them at a loss as they tried to make sense of why some questions affected the child while others didn't. The young girl was around four years old and so was at that stage where she wanted to be a part of the grownups conversations, due to this when questions were asked she believed that she was being asked them even if this wasn't actually the case. Sven and Ito continued to watch from their current positions as the vice-captain of the green mantis decided to tell everyone to be quiet as she studied the structure in a bit more detail, it wouldn't have been long before she would have seen the almost invisible lines due to how dark the deep purple was, in honesty without the help of the bracelet even the current holder of the bracelet may not have seen the lines so understood just how dire the situation was for herself and everyone around them. Ito really hated that bracelet with a passion and didn't understand why his master would even still have it after all this time or why he would give it to such a woman but kept quiet knowing his words would be heard loud and clear by Sven and he was the last person he wanted to anger.
Hearing the green mantis words that she was going to be okay she smiled weakly nodding, it would be easy for the blonde-haired vice-captain to see that the doll that the girl was hugging close for safety seemed to mirror the vice-captain herself. It was as if the little girl idolized her and believed that by holding onto her doll tightly that it would keep her safe much like she was told that the magic knights would do if there were any terrible things going on. It was the stories parents told their children to help them feel safe and to inspire them to one day become magic knights in their own right when they got older. It appeared that right now she hoped to become a green mantis herself, she knew it wasn't the one that was the first choice for most people even at her age but her parents had taught her that it gave people a second chance when most others didn't and that the strongest people are those that are willing to give a second chance and take it when it is offered. "Everyone deserves a second chance..." she whispered her voice still shaking but she was trying to keep calm by remembering things her mommy and daddy told her, even things that a green mantis that came from Kikka said "If people are mean... an... an.. and you need help just call for me and I'll come running as quickly as I can..." she whispered tears falling "VALO!" she called out in the hopes the magic knight who had helped her get her doll back when she was being teased for what she was wanting to be when she grew up "Pl... please help me... pretty please... come help... home... home needs you..." she begged not realising that the one she was calling for was merely a few feet away from her as she couldn't see through the darkness she was trapped within.
Ito watched as again the red-head offered to keep checking the perimeter, he also took note about how she was cautious around tombstones and other markers and was somewhat impressed by her instincts he had to admit, still didn't stop him thinking the woman was dimwitted just perhaps not as much as the others she had found herself in the company of. She had even made sure that she had remained within the limited sight of the others she had been with, he did suppose that mortals were pack animals and so relied on each other in times of great danger or turmoil in the hopes that the sheer numbers would lessen the blow. Again, he had to agree it was a wise tactic but still it would honestly do her no good if things got serious in his opinion and there was a good chance that it just might soon depending on how things progressed in the foreseeable future. He raised his hand again preventing the third and fourth questions a row from reaching the child's ears, he had made a decision that the question that he would allow the child to be heard was the vice-captain's and they could deal with the consequences as he wasn't going to baby the group much longer as technically the next question would have been the nail in the coffin for the child. He was growing impatient after all, he just wanted to end them and be done with it but he had to play within the rules and laws given to him and he would without question. Soon enough it had seemed the mercenary had agreed to check the area with the red-headed woman, perhaps seeing the child in such a manner was just too much for him after he almost killed two not long before this little meeting was taking place. He noted that he refused to get to close to the other but he too was also being careful of where he was stepping, perhaps he could see the faint lines too but that would have meant that he either had good sensory or he was concentrating on trying to find them. He watched as mercenary stopped to scan the area, almost as if he was looking for the enemy but Ito had made sure to keep his distance so he wouldn't be found so easily by the group.
Before long the new addition to the group would as not one, not two but three questions in rather quick succession followed by the black-haired green mantis member-only to ask one of his own to her in return, Ito by this point had to admit that the Blue Roses mage was just as much a hindrance as a help to the rest of the group, much like the bracelet that the vice-captain of the green mantis wore. Ito was sure that the Blue Roses mage could likely destroy the entire group on her own with how she kept talking and questioning things, normally this wasn't a bad thing but these, of course, were not normal circumstances. Ito raised his hand once more deafening the child so she couldn't hear the three questions. No. He had decided which question would be the next she would hear and even though he wanted to let them through let them all hear her suffering he remained patient and savoured the anticipation of when the next scream would be heard. It came to an abrupt end when the chatterbox of a mage kept talking and wondered if he could take her voice, he was willing to do the group that favour as it also saved his own sanity. "I'm starting to wonder if she will ever shut up." he whispered to himself "Be patient Ito before long her comrades will likely knock her out or kill her, she might be able to heal but that leader of theirs though calm on the outside has likely a storm brewing on the inside put that with everyone on edge due to earlier events and how she arrived to be with them. There will be distrust, it will only be so long before they will believe that the quiet far exceeds the need for healing." he chuckled knowing everyone's nerves were frayed and that delighted the Archdaemon to no end.
It would seem as if the Blue Roses mage had started to speak to the leader of the group to tell them that she was fine with splitting up but she was unsure if it was a good idea with how things were, she furthered it by going on about ways to bring her back like a strong smell or sending her either a blueberry or strawberry pie and though it would taste good it would still be bad news or that perhaps she should yell louder than normal. the daemon had to wonder how the new arrival had survived this long in all honesty with how airheaded she seemed to be. Then she said something actually wise, that if she didn't come she could be dead or captured and if she was captured she likely shouldn't take the deal this time but then he groaned hearing the last bit about another bracelet 'Are mortals really this ditzy?' he thought to himself knowing full well as he was the source of these spells he wouldn't be able to prevent the child from hearing any question he himself spoke. he now watched as the mage stated if the leader had any advice she would appreciate it now. It was then he noticed the spell that she had done and tilted his head as she mounted one of the brooms and rose two floors from the ground while the other brooms seemed to set up a perimeter of their own one going around fifty meters around and the other a further fifty meters from the first broom it was actually a smart move, he watches as the furthest one glided just by him, had he been sitting even three inches forwards he would have had been sensed by it and his presence would have been found out before he was ready for such a thing to happen.
Normally he would have been concerned about being seen but between the darkness that had befallen Kikka and how his lord had lowered the group's natural sight by a great deal he wasn't to bothered about sitting out in the open as the chances of him being detected was slim to none and slim had decided that he was going on vacation to the Royal Capital. He sat there for a moment and actually counted how many questions had been asked so far amongst the group to find out they had asked eight and all but one he had prevented from being heard up to this point. In honesty, he was now getting bored of waiting to let his trap spring as the green mantis member decided to follow the red-headed civilian and the mercenary to scout in the opposite direction to the ditzy witch. Soon enough Ito yet again turned his attention to the leader of the group as she began to speak once more about the lines not being connected, he smiled knowing that every mark the child got brought those lines one step closer to connecting and the traps to activating. He watched as the vice-captain now turn her attention to the little girl within the trap and start to ask her a question only to make a new mark cover her and the child to scream out in intense pain due to it. Tears were now streamed like waterfalls, she didn't want this, she wanted to be home with her mommy and daddy playing pretend with her dolly that she was saving the kingdom. The little girl wanted to help but she was in dreadful pain and was too scared to speak just in case she said something that was wrong.
Ito watched as the vice-captain now tried to work out what was going on and realised that it was an intricate double trap that had a very specific way of being activated, it had seemed as if she had also realised that the child was indeed a hostage but that was something he had added on his own for amusement. It was true his master said the child would be spared from the daemons doing damage to the child that was chosen to give the information to his soon to be toys but again it was the group that was doing the damage as they had before. He soon saw the change in tactics the blonde-haired woman had decided to do, she realised that she couldn't ask questions but if she could put it in such a way where it would entice the child to speak she could get the information without causing her further harm. "Smart move." he whispered to himself watching the slightest detail in case he had to step in to prevent his masterfully crafted trap from being dismantled. He listened to how the child was spoken to and how the child was now trying to be brave for the woman speaking to her.
"We.. we were preparing for the festival, it got cold and the sun went away... we thought it got cloudy then it went black. Everyone panicked and we ran to the church for safety..." she began her voice breaking as she fought to try not to cry "All the children were taken inside while our mommies and daddies were left outside and we were told to scream as if we were being hurt, they said they'd hurt our parents if we didn't." she tried to remember everything but it was one big blur "Soon we were allowed to go back to our parents some had even passed trying to get into the church we think... it was scary..." she started to cry again she didn't want to talk about it any more. She hugged the doll in her arms closer as if it was going to protect her from the darkness and the bad things. "We can go somewhere nice after the darkness goes bye-bye?" she said trying to stop crying but still sniffling, she held out her little doll towards the vice-captain and if she hadn't noticed it before she would have noticed the small handmade doll that looked like herself mantle and any accessories she was known to carry. "I want to meet vice-captain Artemis and see Valo again. When the darkness goes bye-bye perhaps can we visit them at the green mantis headquarters." the little girl still sniffling tried to smile at the idea of meeting her idol. The child still couldn't talk more on what she had been through just yet she was still in between trying to blur it out and trying to help the group that was trying to help her.
Again the blonde-haired woman took on the leadership role and gave instruction to the others, it was clear that she was the strongest out of the group and likely had dealt with daemons before which Ito found both impressive and yet at the same time pathetic in regards to the ones she herself had defeated. Oh well, survival of the fittest or so they say as far as Ito was concerned anyway, to him if you were dumb enough not to pick your fights then you were dumb enough to die as only the strongest and most cunning survived, this was the truth in pretty much every races as far as the daemon could tell. He flicked his attention back to the trio that had moved off to secure part of the perimeter and it had seemed one had finally introduced themselves. The red-head had introduced herself as Gen and had even tried to help the mercenary find peace with his earlier folly, if he had a heart for humans he might have found it a heart-wrenching moment but it actually made him feel nauseous at how sentimental they were getting on a battlefield, eventually, the man she was speaking to would introduce himself as Hans so it seemed they were starting to do the most basic of things now. Ito allowed the first question to go through and so another mark was added and another death chilling scream would be heard from the little girl due to it, he did, however, raise his hand preventing the child hearing the second question and so no marking or scream would come of it. Soon enough a 4th question would be heard by the child which came from Seren and the fourth mark and another scream swiftly followed she now clutched her doll close to her once more crying and whispering something to it though it would be to quiet for anyone to know what was being said by the little girl.
It was then that the mage started to sing a song, the daemon had no idea as to why it was happening just that it was, he now found himself wishing that he was born with wind magic so he could make an air bubble around her head so he could drown out her incessant yapping if not knock her out, to be honest, he would have preferred the latter over the former if he had to choose. After she stopped singing it seemed like she had happened upon the conversation Gen was having with the leader after reporting in, he again raised his hand to prevent yet another one of her questions getting through 'That would have been at least the fourth she alone would have asked.' he thought to himself with a silent groan, by this point he would have thought it obvious that questions meant marks and that there was something off that only certain questions were being reacted to but nope, it seemed they were completely oblivious to that fact. Then it happened, the long-awaited moment finally came the quiet little mouse of a boy asked a question to the witch and a final death scream happened, filling the entire cemetery. The vice-captain had moved as quickly as she could and knocked the boy out but it was too little too late as the damage had been done. The child was now covered entirely in shadow, it was now as if she was encased in a shadow golem, the lines that were all over of the mausoleum had now connected and bright vibrant indigo lines would be easily seen by the entire group. They started at the shadow mausoleum and spread like veins all over the graveyard, it was a glorious display in his honest opinion, a beautiful piece of art of his own design. It was then that the Black Bulls mage added to the conversation that the group had previously had been having about one of the veins being the source of the traps, it normally would have been logical and likely would have been the case but Ito wouldn't allow something so simple to derail his ever so delicate plan. No, the lines were all traps in their own rights, of course, they all had different effects as it would be boring if they all do the same thing after all.
The young girl though had been engulfed by this gods forsaken golem was still fully aware and fighting against its control, if it was going to take her it wouldn't be an easy fight even for the daemon. This actually surprised Ito that a child had so much will and determination that it was able to protect itself even if he could feel it quickly faltering. "There... there was three at the church... three bad people..." she managed to get out to the others, she was breathing hard as she tried to recount more to help them "Two of them were covered in shadow.. but sounded like a man and a woman... um... um..." she closed her eyes trying to remember more, "The first person said that um... um.. they'd spare one child... that our parents would have to decide... lots of people got hurt for that reward... I.. I... I'm the child..." she said meekly "I overheard them speaking, they said.... something... I... I can't remember... it's... it's important though... I... I'm sorry... I... I'm tr... trying" she started sobbing again as she thought she was letting them down, the stress of the spell that was pushing again her weak defences and her fight against it was taking everything she had and it showed but she was doing her best, she wanted to survive, she wanted to see her parents and one day become a magic knight, she knew magic knights fought with everything they had even if the odds were against them and she was going to fight she was sure it was the right thing to do even if it was hurting to do it, the young girl encased herself in an ice shell with water swirling around it her hands together and eyes closed as if praying.
It was now Ito decided he would make an appearance and so transformed himself into colourful orbs and flames, the child could feel it "Don’t...touch...the orbs or flames...please…don't let them touch my tomb..." she called out to the woman who had been trying her best to keep her calm. She was completely unaware of what was going just outside of her tomb but she was glad that her message was being told to the others so they could be better prepared, she, unfortunately, didn't know what the flames or orbs did just that they were bad news. "um.. five wells... there are five wells over town... um... um.. um... they're making the darkness and making the bad people stronger." she finally remembered the important thing she wanted to let them know, it was still difficult and her ice shell was now showing cracks as the shadow started to squeeze against it "The man in the church said I was safe... but this isn't safe...." she whimpered "there's a safe point on the top of the tomb I think the solution is there, I... I'm not sure..." she said breathing heavily now she had no idea how she was even doing what she was, it was like her magic was reacting to her emotions.
It was then that the bracelet would show a strange pattern in the centre of the tomb, cutting her hand and allowing a few drops to spill on it would allow her entrance although it showed that if she touched anything else it would still blow, to touch the golem would activate it and do serious harm to the child but then it gave no more information than that once again going dormant. It was almost as if the bracelet was toying with the one who bore it, either that or it believed that with the hint it had given that they would be able to figure out the rest on their own only time would tell on that one.
It would now seem that the group would do as ordered while their leader would try to disarm the trap but little did they know what they currently facing wasn't the true threat. As Gen cast her spell it did indeed touch the shadow of the orb she was aiming for and was knocked back. It knocked back more than one however causing a chain reaction making everyone within its range takes a good amount of damage, but a shadow shield appeared around each of the weaker members bar the one who cast the spell who started the chain reaction believing she needed to learn a lesson. The shield was just strong enough that the rest of them wouldn't be knocked out but they still took a heavy amount of damage for the actions of their teammate "Aren't I merciful... I give you this one small reprieve stop being so stupid or you'll kill yourselves before the game is over." Sven's voice hissed out in frustrated anger, he wasn't happy with this turn of events, it was true they hadn't known just how strong this attack could be but still, it was always better to dip a toe in when dealing with the unknown rather than jumping in and drowning because of it.
It was because of the shield that the rest of the group could continue dealing with the orbs and flames in question. Though they had been close enough for the chain of the orbs and flames when their own attacks had hit there was nothing to chain against and overall four orbs were removed. It was then that the flight attendant of a witch decided to start healing the rest of the group while avoiding the orbs and flames that were still around before landing and using her brooms to make a makeshift picket fence to protect the dark mage.
Before the eyes of those actually conscious the orbs and flames started to come together and before them would now stand a man, it was clear by his appearance that he wasn't human by any stretch of the imagination. He had ashen skin, clawed fingers, a tail and a single horn, by how he was dressed it was easy to see he was a noble which was only made stronger as he put his hand to his heart for a moment and gave a slight bow as Sven had done previously as he lowered himself to the ground "Mortals are such fools and you are lucky master Sven spared you from my attacks." he said coldly looking at the entire group, his eyes going to Artemis for a moment before heading back to the group "Fighting you outside your best would be little challenge for the likes of me and if I were to end you now my lord would be furious at me." he said with a sigh rolling his eyes as he thought of his next move "Heal yourselves up." he said turning his back to the group walking away "Next time we meet will be our last if you don't wise up regardless of what my lord wants and forewarning my sister is less forgiving than I." he said walking towards the shadows not expecting them to attack him as he currently hadn't actually attacked them. He stopped for a moment "My name is Ito, I would say it was a pleasure to meet all of you but that would be a lie now wouldn't it." he said before closing his eyes thinking for a moment "I will give a piece of advice since it seems you don't have a brain cell between you, which is surprising as one of you is a darkness mage and another is a shadow mage, it is clear you need training in your elements." he almost seemed disheartened at that thought. "Shadow and darkness were not as fast as light is just as tricky as it if not more so. Don't always trust your senses, question everything and don't jump in blind if you want to survive." he said to the group but more specifically to Hans and Genesis.
Ito once again began to walk off leaving the group to their own devices, as he moved into the shadows the spells he had active deactivated. The tomb dismantled, the golem faded making the child fall to the floor just as her fragile ice shell broke and the purple veins that had been marking everything were gone. What two of the group hadn't noticed was they had been stood upon the magical veins and it had reduced their mana shield by half for their stupidity. The child was breathing but it was laboured, her eyes barely opened with tears falling "I could hear everything clearly my tomb, your every word was as if it was being whispered into my ear but there were times that I could hear nothing." she whispered alerting them that there might have been a reason that things might have happened in a certain way, she tried to sit up but her body was still sore, her body was still marked by the magic that had been used on her. It was quite possible this would be something that she would have to live with for the rest of her life and it scared her as she was afraid others would avoid her "I can still become a magic knight right? even though I'm marked by a daemon right?" she said more to her doll than anyone else.
Story:
The group has now received information not only from the child but from the daemon who calls himself Ito. The child notified them how it had all started and how she ended up in the predicament the others found her in and even the wells that were causing the darkness that was spread all over Kikka and how it empowered the daemons that had subjugated them all. She had even shown some of her potential when she was fighting and how she hoped one day to become a magic knight but was now scared because she was marked by the daemons magic due to current events that she would be shunned for something she couldn't help. Ito himself informed the group that he wasn't alone, that he was here with his sister and out of the two she was more ruthless than he was. He also gave the group a reprieve after Sven had pretty much made sure that most of them didn't get knocked out and gave Hans and Genesis some words of wisdom when dealing with elements such as theirs before leaving the area.
Take the child to her parents and form a plan with the information you have received from the child and Ito. You now know at least one of the two servants can use shadow and pure aura elements, that they can form intricate traps that can layer and cause chain reactions as well as constructs and transformation.
OOC:
Elliot has been removed from the event due to missing two round deadlines
Hans and Valo you've both missed one round so have both lost 50% of your mana shields for the remainder of the event, if you need more time and have a legitimate reason for needing it then contact me so I know what is going on so I can work with you.
Taunts. Purely malicious. Taunts that would try to get under her skin. To undermine her efforts. To make her fail. [break][break]
But she would not.[break][break]
Artemis would continue to do her work. That was the only thing she could do at this point. The little girl and her doll. A doll that looked like herself. A Green Mantis Magic Knight. White haired with a blonde streak. The Vice Captain of the Green Mantis, Artemis Somerset. She would give the young girl a small smile, a rare touch of affection, before she continued her work. Everything that she was saying, everything that she recounted, they were all vital information. Artemis did not have any sort of pen and paper to write the information down, but her memory was quite sharp. She took in everything that the young girl said, and made sure to remember specifically some of the key information.[break][break]
It was then that she felt mana build up. [break][break]
Artemis had hoped that her group mates would see reason. That they would understand just how imperative working together was. However, she had not taken into account that they were seemingly mismatched. Of course, her confidence had been boosted, especially since three of the members in the group were Magic Knights. If there was one thing she trusted Magic Knights with, it is the fact that they should know how to work together. Team effort. Team building. They were the core message that most Magic Knights Squads would teach their recruits. But apparently, she had been mistaken. [break][break]
An explosion.[break][break]
The Vice Captain of the Green Mantis would turn just in time for her to conjure up a spell.[break][break] “Warbringer!”[break][break]
A wall of water would surge up from the ground, its appearance would take its usual form. A large ship, a Galleon, made of water became a wall for Artemis and the mausoleum. It would be up just in time as the wave of explosions hit the spell itself. While her own water ship acted as a wall, and basically took on the explosion without a budge, she knew that her teammates would not have been so lucky. Artemis let her spell continue to protect the, as she finally was nudged by the bracelet.[break][break] “Now you talk…” She would whisper, as the bracelet relayed information. The little girl as well talked of a safe spot on top of the mausoleum. “On top.” Artemis would fly up now, heading towards the supposed weakness of the structure itself. A possible opening that Artemis can exploit to release the child in all intent and purposes. It would be dark, but the mausoleum’s haunting and eerie glow would be good enough for her to see. As well as the fact that her sensory would guide her properly. Even no, weakened as she was, she could at least trust her sensory magic with something as close as this. [break][break]
Reaching the supposed spot, Artemis got further information.[break][break]
“A drop of blood.” She would shake her head. “A sacrifice.” Clutching her bow, she would use one of the sharp ends to prick her finger. There was no question that she would pay the price for possibly saving this child. The drop of blood would drip towards the spot on the mausoleum, and an opening revealed itself. Small enough just for her to get through without touching the structure.[break][break]
She fell in gingerly, making sure she had not caught herself in the mausoleum’s walls. She also made sure to float, keeping in mind that the floor itself was most likely a part of the trap spell. [break][break]
“But how…” Artemis would hover her hand over the child clutching a homemade doll of herself. She was still trapped, yet the golem has not come to life just yet. Her heart would thrum as her mind went overdrive. At this point, all she wanted was for the bracelet to give her an indication on how to save this child now. But then, everything disappeared.[break][break]
The Vice Captain would catch the young girl as she laid her down onto the ground. The daemon seemed to have disappeared, something along the lines of taking pity. Yet, Artemis gave no more attention to the petty words of a creature, instead focusing her entirety upon the child. The marks on her were still visible. A reminder of what she had gone through. She would sob. Speak. And then try to get up. Artemis could see the effort she put into her actions, and heard her concerns.[break][break]
“You were very brave, little one. And brave women tend to become Magic Knights, as long as they work hard.” Artemis would smile kindly at the little girl, brushing her hair as she would do when her siblings were sad. “If you work hard, and keep true to your dreams, nothing will stop you from becoming a Magic Knight.” She would help the girl up now, “You can even find me. I will make sure you are well trained when the time comes. Of course, this is after you get your grimoire.”[break][break]
She would then turn to the group. They all seem to be battered, but still alive. Artemis was at least glad to see nobody had been taken by death’s embrace. Now, at least, they all should understand the danger they are in. This was no game. A wrong move can cause them to lose their life.[break][break]
“We will pause for a few short moments. I hope you all finally realize the danger we face. This is no game. There are no winners here, only pain and suffering if we fail.” Artemis would announce. “Please heal the little girl as well if you can, Blue Rose. She has been very brave, and gave us more information than what we had previously. Two servants and five wells of power.” She would ask their healer, before turning back to the young child.[break][break]
“Little girl, what is your name? I would like to take you back to your parents now. I’m sure they are worried sick. Where do you live? Close-by, mayhaps?” She would ask the young girl, before letting her sensory and Ki come to life.[break][break]
Artemis would mull over the information she got from the little girl as well. Wells. Five in number.[break][break]
There.[break][break]
One of the Wells was close by. Though, instead of focusing on it, she would first try to figure out where the young girl lived. She needed to be brought home before anything else. [break][break]

[break][break] TL;DR Artemis still has Moonsong, The Captain's Map (with the other group, still within range) and War-maiden: Lady Sif. The child has been freed. There are 2 servants, and 5 wells of power. [break][break] Spells Used:
Name of Spell: Moonsong[break] Elemental Type: Water[break] Rank & Spell Type: Grand | Attack Creation & Physical Reinforcement[break] Range & Speed: 150 meters | 85 m/s | 115 m AOE[break] Mana Cost: 50 | 25[break] Stats Effected: +30 m/s, Blinds[break] Applicable Perks: Area of Triumph, Quick Shot, Full Blitz, Apex Predator[break] Description: A manifestation of a stronger mana, the bow is made to be the successor in power and speed of Aphrodite. The bow itself is made with water, though its wings are as sharp as a sword's blade. The bow is used in long ranged combat, the wings of the bow, however, can be used as pseudo blades. A manifestation of Artemis' mana, the string only shows when she makes a "pull-back" motion of drawing and aiming. This makes the bow into a pseudo double-bladed short spear when needed for close quarter combat. The bow itself can shoot more than one arrow, following ammo rules. The arrows can either pierce through enemies, or be used as an AOE attack by letting it burst in a shower of sharp dagger like water droplets, causing Grand level damage. At first hit, opponents are blinded by the water that hits their eyes. The blind effect only happens once per opponent. The bow also increases the speed of the user.[break]
Name of Spell: The Captain's Map[break] Elemental Type: Water[break] Rank & Spell Type: Senior | Sensory[break] Range & Speed: 75m + (Artemis' Sensory x 2)[break] Mana Cost: 30 | 15[break] Stats Effected: -9 Sensory[break] Applicable Perks: Area of Triumph[break] Description: A water made map is created in front of Artemis, which becomes a three dimensional representation of the surrounding keeping in mind the range of the spell. Mana signatures are all located in the three dimensional map, while those hiding their presence using an illusion would follow the Tracking mechanics of Sensory vs Control of the one hiding. While the map itself is a representation of the surroundings, the true nature of the spell are the minuscule droplets of water that appears all around the area of effect. The droplets of water debuffs those caught in the area of effect, lowering their sensory stat, while it bypasses allies through ammo rules.[break][break]
Name of Spell: War-maiden: Lady Sif[break] Elemental Type: Water[break] Rank & Spell Type: Grand | Physical Reinforcement & Transformation[break] Range & Speed: Self | 40 m/s[break] Mana Cost: 50 | 25[break] Stats Effected: +30 m/s[break] Applicable Perks: Full Blitz, Predator's Mutation[break] Description: Calling upon the mythological war-maidens, Artemis conjures water and surrounds her whole body, transforming her into the visage of an mythological warrior. Her whole appearance changes, hair turning into fully blonde, her clothes replaced by warrior-garb made of silk and iron, with the most prominent feature of the transformation being the two feather wings on her back. This transformation allows Artemis flight, and the combination of both Physical Reinforcement to the Transformation allows her to move at a faster speed than normal. Her flight speed is at-rank 40 m/s following Transformation rules. Growing 35 inches in size, Artemis is able to carry at maximum 5 people on her wings and back, though why she would do that, she did not know. The spell allows Artemis to weave in and out of combat, unhindered by ground speed. [break]
Name of Spell: Warbringer[break] Elemental Type: Water[break] Rank & Spell Type: Grand | Attack Creation & Sensory[break] Range & Speed: 150 meters | 85 m/s | 115 m AOE[break] Mana Cost: 50 | 25[break] Stats Effected: Power +12, Blinds, -12 Sensory[break] Applicable Perks: Area of Triumph, Battle Knight, Master Illusionist, Quick Shot, Apex Predator[break] Description: Warbringer is an ethereal ship made of water. At 75 meter's, its colossal size is both ghastly, and intimidating to look at. The ship itself looks like an old Galleon, though it has no cannons to its side. Instead, it it has a singular cannon in the prow of the ship. While the ship itself can be manipulated by Artemis to ram into enemies, she can also shoot out water cannon balls from its singular cannon on its prow. While Artemis cannot make more than one Warbringer, she can instead create more cannon balls in accordance to ammo rules of a Grand rank spell. The ship itself can be hidden from sight, hearing, and smell, and mana sensing, though Artemis can allow her enemies and allies see the ship itself for intimidation purposes. Using her proficiency in Sensory magic, she is able to make the cannon balls seek its target. Those hit by the spell will also have their sensory debuffed, following on debuff rules, while the blind effect only happens once per opponent.[break]
Name of Spell: Apropos: Broom, “Hollow Furnace”[break] Spell Element: Ethereal (Oddity- Explosion)[break] Spell Rank: Intermediate[break] Mana Cost: 20, 10 (sustained)[break] Type of Golem: Scout[break] Applicable Perks: Lightfooted Golem[break] Description:[break][break]
Grimoire flashing with a mysterious glow, Seren conjures forth an odd broom-like golem composed of ethereal energy. Capable of emitting explosive thrusts to propel itself, Seren enjoys riding this broom around, zipping this way and that, while leaving trails of aurora in the sky. A mode of transport as well as a last line of defense in emergencies.[break][break]
Striking or ramming with this golem will attempt a knock-back effect of 4 (+ 5 for every 10 power) meters the golem possesses.[break][break]
Seren may create 1 additional golem for every 30 control she possesses. These additional golems will typically follow the original like train cars but may serve additional functions as needed.[break][break]
As an Ethereal Spell, each target affected will lose 5 mana which will be granted to the caster. Each target may only be affected by this spell's drain once per round. (In the case of this spell, this effect is optional)[break][break]
Ethereal Spells have the unique power to bypass any objects or structures in their path, though the spell drops a tier in overall power and strength. This can be thwarted by spells whose power or durability stat (depending on the spell in its path) is +5 than the user of this magic’s power stat. These spells cannot bypass structures or creations that are of higher rank than the spell itself.[break][break]

*** A lot had happened, you certainly don’t need me to tell you that. And at the moment, Seren was struggling to process it all as her broom came to a skidding stop after a massive explosion, sudden water boat, daring rescue, demon soliquey, and anything else I might have missed.
Since arriving Seren had been figuratively thrown in the deep end, and it didn’t look like that fact was going to change anytime soon. Artemis was the first to break the silence, causing Seren to turn in her direction from where she was hovering low on her broom. The witch listened intently, mulling over the valkyrie’s words.
Nih~no~ this is a game alright~
Seren thought, while holding her tongue.
If it weren’t we would be beyond dead niho~ any number of times~ but now is not the time for semantics~ we take what we are given and use what we get~~ though I would very very much like to have a turn dealing at least once tonight~ the initiative isn’t in parity at all~ niho~
Seren smiled at Artemis and the girl in her characteristic good cheer. It was the bedside manner she offered the world, smiles were always free on the menu, and she typically had plenty in stock.
“Nihaha~ she was indeed very brave~ I know this for I am wise~ but even if she weren’t I would of course happily heal her anyway~ bravery is a very fine virtue~ but keeping oneself safe and healthy is its own special wisdom~ our lives are not just our own after all~ and I can think of at least one person who is very very happy to see you safe~”
Seren winked.
“Nihaha~ you know~~~ were the claims not already set~ I would have scouted you for the Blue Roses myself~ niho~ but oh well~ we’re all friends anyway~ Now then little mantis~ Let’s me see~ Let me see~ show your lovely Fairy Witch Doctor where it hurts niho~ and she’ll have you right as rain just as soon as you can say sage’s insight~! Niho~”
Seren took a deep breath as she focused. As she did so, a pair of spells manifested.
“Ethercannon Magic~ Fairy Tender and Inspiritus Faefield~ niho~”
From her grimoire was a flash the color of aurora as mysterious runes began to hover around the girl. Then, similar runes spread throughout the area around them. Observing the spells beginning to work their, well, magic, a thought suddenly struck Seren, and she opened her mouth one more.
“Now how does that feel little mantis~? Good I hope~? Niho~? No new ouchies~? Now I want you to listen very very well niho~ like I know you very well can~ What comes next is an important part of your checkup~ niho~ Okay~? Okay~ niho~ let’s begin~”
Seren nodded at the girl with a gentle smile.
“I’m going to test just a little bit of your mana~ just a little bit~ niho~ just to make sure you feel all better by tomorrow~ can you take a deep breath little mantis~? Like this~ niho~?”
Seren filled her lungs and demonstrated her own version of a quiet, calm, and meditative breathing.
“Mhm~ that’s it~ just like that~ what a smart girl~ niho~ ms witch is very jealous of the future mantises right now~ niho~!”
Continuing to heal the girl, Seren used the innate properties of her element to sap an extremely minuscule amount of the girl’s mana. This was a spur of the moment test and her reasoning was as follows:
I don’t know what I’m looking for niho~ but I don’t think demon mana is very much the same as people mana~ niho~ and much less cool than witch mana besides~ niho~ but if I feel something wrong from this that could be important niho~ and if I don’t~ I’ll just have to up and hope that there wasn’t anything to find~ at least~ until we can get her to someone better qualified~~~~ I wonder why everyone thinks I’m a healer~ niho~~~~ it is a lot of pressure for a well-maintained but nonetheless spare broom from the closet~
“Ah~ by the way~! Everyone~! What you are in is one of my very very neat healing spells called Inspiritus Faefield~ niho~ it has another version but we can worry about that later if at all~! An~y~way~s~~~ niho~ I’m going to borrow a little bit of mana from all of you except the little mantis~ just so I can be sure you guys don’t suddenly become tricky tricky no bodys~ niho~ that would be a very big headache~ but don’t worry~ you shouldn’t feel a thing~ If I borrow any unusual mana I’ll be sure to let everyone know niho~ and if you suspect ~I~ am an illusion~ Nihaha just ask me to sing a witchsong~ ”
Seren nodded at their leader.
“Nihaha~ none of this will likely work but it's better than nothing~ ahhh~! Also~ this spell array has left me defenseless aside from my brooms~ niho~ so don’t expect any coverfire while I operate~~~”
Seren laughed in good cheer as she gave another wink.
“Now if it’s all the same to everyone else~ I’d very very much like to get out of this place that is sure to make my stomach churn just a little every time I fly by it for the rest of my life niho~ we have much to do and the day or night~ I can’t tell niho~ still has a ways to go~ we’ll need to maybe set up a vantage point somewhere~ even if it’s dark~ and start to chart our course niho~ Ar-Ar can you carry the baby mantis~? She'll be safest with you I think~ niho~”
Seren nodded.
“Nihaha any~way~ looks like the spells have stabilized all nice and peachy niho~ I’m going to start on everyone else now~ hang tight~!”
And so, Seren completed the array by using the ammo on fairy tender to spread additional healing to Genesis, Charles, and Hans who she guessed may wind up needing it the most. Such were the pains of triage.
*** Combat Summery and Notes: 1) Cast Fairy Tender on Girl, Genesis, Charles, Hans (+Int Healing) 2) Seren sapped a miniscule amount of NPC girl's mana to try and see if it's corrupted or something. 3) Seren cast an Aoe Healing spell (Inspiritus Faefield) and is sapping all targets except the girl within the area for 5 mana. (+Int Healing ALL) 4) Seren is riding one broom golem with the others flanking her for defense or other utility.

If she thought she messed up before, she really blew it up this time.
Her spell did indeed hit the flaming orb, and it exploded. However, she had failed to sense that it was not the only orb around her. Until it was too late. Merde. At its sudden detonation, it also imploded on a nearby orb. Then another. And another. And another. It was as if she had stepped on a minefield, triggering all the bursts and setting off a chain reaction.
Screams. And shadows. Lots of shadows.
That was the last thing she remembered before something blew up in front of her and darkness slammed into her.
Warmth. Blessed warmth.
Grey-green eyes fluttered open, then blinked, trying to clear the haze from her vision. What? She rubbed her eyes. Why was everything so dark? Then everything flooded back to her. The daemon. The shadows. The graveyard. The little girl. The orbs. The explosion.
Immediately she scrambled to her feet, and instantly regretted it when the pain assaulted her all at once. “Enghh...” The redhead bent over slightly, and her knees threatened to buckle. Her hands were on her knees now, supporting her up. Breathe, Gen, breathe. Whether there were others looking at her or not, she was not one to show weakness. Not in front of strangers, at least.
She bit on her lower lip, trying to control her features. All her muscles burned and ached; everything hurt. She had been caught in the explosion’s full force. With a chain reaction like that, she must have wiped out the rest of the group, right? A groan escaped from her lips. She did not want to look up to see what her actions had resulted. That is, until she heard a sinister voice.
"...name is Ito, I would say it was a pleasure to meet all of you but that would be a lie now wouldn't it."
Only now did she look up to assess her surroundings. Her eyes narrowed when they landed on the voice’s owner. She recognized it as the daemon from before. Not the main one she saw at the hospital, but the new flying one. She gritted her teeth, quickly taking in the others and their positions. As she had feared, they all showed signs of damage from the explosion. From the explosion she triggered.
It was surprising, however, that they had not been knocked out like she had. Was she really that weak, to be knocked out so cleanly and completely by an explosion? She cursed herself inwardly. What she did not know was that her comrades had been shielded, so that only she took the full brunt of her consequence. All she knew was that she was at fault, and the whole group had suffered for it.
Wait, how about the little girl? She whipped her head back to see that the vice captain was still standing. The little girl also seemed to be okay. The mausoleum, not so much. Much had seemed to happen in the time when she was knocked out, and just as well. How long had she been knocked out anyways?
"I will give a piece of advice since it seems you don't have a brain cell between you, which is surprising as one of you is a darkness mage and another is a shadow mage, it is clear you need training in your elements."
Her eyes flew back to the monster. She would have sputtered some sort of insult back at the daemon if her injured body had not reminded her of his power. Obviously, there was more she needed to learn besides training her element. Something like controlling her temper, for one.
"Shadow and darkness were not as fast as light is just as tricky as it if not more so. Don't always trust your senses, question everything and don't jump in blind if you want to survive."
And he walked away, seemingly deactivating his spells as he left. It was clear some of his words were addressed to Genesis specifically. For all she knew, he could have tagged her name at the end of his speech. Despite the simmering rage she felt inside, the shadow mage had to admit that he was right. She had been too hasty, too eager to jump into action without thinking everything through. In fact, it sounded eerily familiar to what her old mentor used to say to her.
Again, she had let her rashness take over her reasonings, and it had dire consequences that affected not only herself, but the people around her. A cold facade fell over the young woman’s facial features, locking up whatever emotions she had been feeling before. It seemed like she had yet to master control over her own self. But no matter. She would not make the same mistake again.
Notes & Stuff
Summary: Knocked out by grand damage from the orb she attacked earlier, received int healing from Seren (-5 mana), received advice from Ito
“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
Hans braced himself for the incoming explosion, shielding his eyes with his arms, the dark mage was fully expecting himself to be thrown back by the blast, but surprisingly he wasn't. He still let out a groan, feeling the force of the explosion, but the fact that he was still standing there and hasn't moved an inch caught the guy off guard. Slowly removing his arm from his face, the merc took notice of a dark shield of some kind protecting him. This was definitely not his darkness, and could feel the sinister mana coming from it.
Did...the daemon protect him?
This was something Hans couldn't ponder on for long as the main Daemon's servant introduced himself to everyone. The monster did nothing but spit out insults after insults, including one that was obviously directed to the merc and the shadow mage. As much as he hated it, Hans knew that Ito had a point, that he was still leagues away on controlling his dark magic. Hans was already getting the picture of needing to be more cautious. It was clear that not everything was going to be as it seems here...especially with what happened with those children.
Hans held up one of his palms and looked at it, conjuring a dark aura within it before clenching it into a fist. He was practically in his element...yet he's one of the weakest here. It infuriated him, but there wasn't much he could do, and so he sighed, lowering his hand.
The daemon then left, not laying a finger on anyone here. At this point, the only damage that these creatures were doing involved the mind, having yet to do anything physical. The blonde green mantis said that this wasn't a game, but with how the Daemons have been acting, they seem to be treating this as such.
Fortunately, this didn't end all bad. The girl was saved from her prison and healed up by the witch. The same witch then sapped a bit of mana from the others here in an attempt to make sure that no one here was shady. Hans would've protested this, not feeling comfortable of having a stranger touch his mana...especially since the last time a witch tried messing with his mana, it was for more nefarious reasons, but he wasn't in a position to do so or else it'd make him look suspicious. Plus the witch has been helpful so far...despite her cooky personality.
What mana was taken from Hans was instantly replenished and the witch started to heal him along with some of the others. It was then he noticed that his mana skin hadn't fully returned. "Huh?" It felt like half of it was drained, and it couldn't have been that witch. Looking around himself then to the ground, Hans took notice of the vein like thing under his foot. He could feel it, sapping away at him, causing him to quickly back up off of it. "Shit..." Just what he needed, a handicap....Coming off of it didn't seem recover any of it.
The merc was just going to have to be extra careful then...

An explosion occurred from one of the nearby orbs. This was problematic, Charles braced himself and covered his face with his arms trying to avoid getting hit by the explosion. He closed his eyes and prepared for the worse. A few seconds later he opened his eyes to realize he was covered by a shadow shield. The Black Bull still sustained damage from the attack, but he felt like if it wasn't for that shadow shield he would've probably got knocked out or even have died by such ferocious explosion. The silver mage was confused as to who did that. Until he heard the voice of Daemon saying he was merciful. Did the Daemon just protect them from an explosion that could've possibly knocked or even killed them? Why would he do such a thing? Charles still got hit by the explosion, but the shield reduced its lethality. The appearance of the shadow shield was surprising to him, but the fact that the Daemon just saved them was even more surprising. For a moment he thought everything was over. [break][break] The servant presented himself properly to him and the rest of the group, his name was Ito. As Ito explained that his lord will be mad if he finished the entire group while they were hit by the explosion of some of the orbs he will be mad at him. So that's the reason why he saved them. For his entertainment after all the Daemon could've easily finished everyone off during that exact moment. Maybe not everyone knew this, but they were close to death and luckily that Daemon was kind enough or it was convenient for him for the entire group to remain alive for now. Ito instructed to heal the group up, which didn't take long after all Seren was already healing them this entire time. For the most part, Charles's lazy behavior hasn't been seen and as much he felt they were more suited people to deal with this current situation than him. The Black Bull had no other choice, but to suck it up and deal with the issue at hand which was to get rid of those bloody daemons that were infesting the town of Kikka. [break][break] Another thing Ito mentioned is that he had a sister, so that meant they were two servants aside from the Daemon. Even though he hasn't met his sister it was likely Ito's sister was as strong as he was. This made things slightly more problematic. Shortly after talking to Hans and Genesis about the use of shadow and dark magic referring to how it was slow compare to light magic it had to be used in different ways he walked off somewhere else. As Ito walked off Charles looked back just to notice that the prison of the tomb was deactivated setting the child free. The behavior shown by the Daemons so far was strange, he made sure to take note of that. This was his first-ever encounter with the Daemons and their behavior was somewhat odd yet unpredictable, but this was a game of chess, after all. [break][break] Charles's attention will then be focused on Artemis as she announced that this was no game and that lives were at stake. This was already clear to him at the start when he almost killed those children by accident which was something that still crossed his mind. She also announced that she had obtained information from the girl, which was good news and that's why she was placed there in the first place. Two servants, the Master and five wells of power. "...So those wells are what giving the Daemon so much power in this town?" The black bull asked as he slowly walked up to the Green Mantis Vice-Captain. "Are all Daemons like this?" He asked referring to the strange behavior the Daemons showed, it seemed like some sort of strategy, but he wasn't sure this was his first encounter with Daemons. By the looks of it, Artemis seemed to be quite experienced with Daemons, out of everyone in the group she knew how to properly deal with the situation at hand. It was clear to him she had faced them before. [break][break]

Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
It happened in a instant, a large explosion would hit the majority of the group hard. Was it the lack of vision, the lack of hearing, the nervousness, the dread? How did this happen, and how did Valo not see it coming till it was to late? He heading towards Genesis, someone he considered a friend and a good one. She wasn't someone he wanted to lose, especially in Kikka his home. With everything going on, Valo was just unfocused, distracted and just plain ol foolish and now he was paying for it. He saw the explosion happen within the last few seconds and did his best to brace himself for it, but oddly enough he did get hit by it but it wasn't as painful as he thought it would be.
Honestly the green mantis thought he was going to die, even with his mana skin he doubted that would be enough to protect him completely from facing such an attack. The reason why was the explosion itself was blocked from some kind of shadow barrier. If it wasn't for the spell Valo was certain that would have been the end of his life, he wanted to be grateful but when he saw where the spell came from he couldn't. Valo would be looking straight at a Daemon, the one who conjured the spell and protected them. Why? Valo had no idea, nor did he care for why? All that came to mind when he looked at this Daemon was that it was the enemy nothing else. Valo was face first on the ground, struggling to get up to stand up to this creature.
He wanted to fight it, beat it, kill it and end this right here and right now. "AAaarrrgghhh, get the fuck up Valo." he said to himself, still looking at the Daemon. He heard every word this being said too, it was insults after insults not a lot directed towards Valo specifically like the others. But that didn't matter to the young knight, he still took every word as an attack a verbal assault. This was one of the beings responsible for endangering his home, his memories, the place he grew up. He hated it, he hated looking at this creature, he hated listening to it and he hated that he couldn't do much about it.
This Daemon had a name, Ito. Valo didn't give a damn what it's name was, he wasn't going to use it. This thing wasn't natural it was evil, twisted and diabolical. It didn't deserve a name in Valo's mind. "I don't give a damn what your name is..." Valo said out loud, he was getting back up from the ground slowly. He winced in pain for a bit though, he had to take his time getting back up fully. But that didn't stop his tongue. "We're going to kill all of you...Your ugly ass, your leader who smelled like shit. And I'm sure your sister is an ugly fuck face too." Valo said with an angry tone, but focused one he meant what he said. Only thing was the Daemon probably didn't hear it at all, or maybe he did Valo hoped he heard every word as the Daemon made his exit.
He insulted Genesis and the swordsman he still didn't have a name for, they both used dark colored magic. He knew Genesis used shadows, and from he saw from the other civilian he used darkness magic. The same kind of magic that his good buddy Augustus used, it was interesting magic but the Daemon was right. It wasn't known for it's speed, it was tricky and required a different way to use them. But why was this Daemon giving them tips and helping them so much? It didn't matter, they were going to find it and kill it thats all that mattered to Valo.
The Green Mantis knight finally got back up on two feet, standing up entirely he stretched out his limbs. He got a good look at the graveyard now, most of it was destroyed and in shambles. Tombstones with heartfelt messages engraved on them, broken and shattered. For a moment took the time to put his mind at ease, it was horrible but it could be fixed. When this was all over Valo planned to do just that, he wouldn't be able to sleep at night without doing something. He wouldn't leave the graves of his neighbors loved ones like this.
But Valo's personal thoughts were interrupted with a sort of announcement from the Blue Rose witch that joined them late. She was a very intriguing one Valo had to admit, but she proved her usefulness and then over. So far a lot more then him, seeing her at work made him appreciate just how useful healing magic was. So much so he didn't mind the fact that she tended to speak a lot. She announced that she would be using a tiny bit of mana from everyone, and that was fine. Valo had mana to spare so taking just a little wouldn't bother him at all. "That's fine...I have some mana to spare actually if you need it." Valo would say towards the witch, volunteering to offer more mana if need be. "Who is this little mantis you keep referring to?" Valo said with a confused tone of voice, the only ones here that were Green Mantises were Artemis and him. But a little one, nor Valo or his vice captain were little. Valo peaked over Seren his eyes widened with shock, he couldn't believe who he saw.
"Nanami!!!" Valo shouted rushing towards her to grab the little girl, and embrace her. He knew this girl, very much so in fact. He held onto her and squeezed the little girl in his arms but not to tightly. How did he not know? How did he not notice?? Many thoughts were rushing into his head, some more negative than others. "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! You were probably calling for me...and I didn't..." Valo started to say, but couldn't finish his sentences. He was feeling a little overwhelmed with emotions at this point, but he was glad she was safe. Thats all that mattered to him at this point. Not to long ago actually right before Valo would leave Kikka to become magic knight, he helped the little girl get her doll back from some bullies. He even stayed and played with her for a few hours before he took off, he knew the little girl was a huge fan of Green Mantis and always carried that Artemis doll with her. A light chuckle escaped Valo as he looked at the doll and back towards his vice captain, the doll was a decent replica of the real thing. "So you still have your doll? And still want to join Green Mantis? After the courage you showed, I'm pretty confident that will happen. You remember what I told you?" Valo asked the little one, holding out his pinky finger so they could do the same pinky promise they did when he got her doll back. He would recite the words with her, if she said them. "If people are mean and you need help just call for me and I'll come running as quickly as I can" He meant that when he said it way back, and though things were drastic at the moment he intended to keep that promise.
A few moment later Valo would feel a very quick shock, he did his best to hide it but he felt like some of his energy was sapped away. It felt weird then Valo realized it was his actual mana skin that took a hit, and they way it felt it wasn't coming back anytime soon even with healing. He heard a similar reaction coming from the swordsmen, perhaps it was only the two that felt it.

WORD COUNT: 1,322 TOTAL WC: 6,601 ITEMS IN USE: Magic Knight Mantle & Kolivan's Lantern BATTLE NOTES: - 5 Mana from Seren. Mana skin cut in half for the remainder of the event. Valo embraced the little girl he knew. The girl's name is Nanami. SPELLS USED:
It had been true Ito had taunted their actions but he cared the little for their somewhat overly sensitive feelings, this was a battlefield and if they hoped to survive it then they would have to toughen up, after all, if their mere presence and spoken truth affected them in such a way. He had to commend them, they didn't act on their anger or wish to attack him, not that it would have ended very well for them, their powerhouse, after all, wouldn't have been able to step in and save them as she was busy trying to figure out the dual-layered trap that he had set for them. It took a while to set up but it was a beautiful piece of work and would have created an amazing piece of destruction had it went off, as where there once would have been a graveyard there would have been a chasm. It spoiled his fun when he knew he had to retreat, but, they were a unique set of daemons with their own twisted version of an honour code. They were injured and were too naive to fight him right now so killing them now would mean little to the noble daemon. Sure, to their master this was a giant game but even he had a method in his madness and even though neither servant knew what the end game was they still followed obediently, that wasn't to say they wouldn't try to usurp their lord if he showed weakness as only the strongest and most cunning survived in the daemon ranks.
The daemons were trying to wear and tare the group down, physical damage could easily be healed and forgotten, mental damage... well... that was a completely different story, such things healed slowly if they healed at all as it was something that stained the soul and often remained for a lifetime. The daemons were acting within their natures showing just how easy they could not only destroy this town but end them all at the same of time so could afford to play with them like a cat did to a mouse, but through this, they were also showing just how weak the group were, it was more than that though it was almost like they were showing them their own individual weaknesses. They wanted them to grow and quickly, that left two questions for the group; Why didn't he end them and why are they trying to show them their weaknesses. The answer to that was simple at least in their eyes, they wanted to destroy worthy opponents, not snivelling children there was no challenge in that. At this point, he was willing to let them destroy themselves and actually found that more amusing than anything else as it had almost happened just moments before. Right now they were toys on his master's board but eventually, even his master would want to end the game and would destroy them whether they were ready for that battle or not and Ito knew for a fact that that blows would not be pulled at least from their side so hoped their leader and their own help managed to shape them up but he wasn't about to hold his breath.
"The information has been given my lord." he said to Sven as he moved out of the shadows to a new location the stakes had now been raised. Normally now would have been a time to up their own game while preparing for the up and coming assault that they should be expecting from the small group trying to regain control of the city, the problem was not one of the three took them as a threat as they were sure that they would end up killing themselves before they reached the finish line by how they had been acting up until this point. The first attacks Hans and the Black Bull mage showed hints that they would attack anything they seen as an enemy without thought to if it was really an enemy. While Genesis herself had proven that she would attack without thought of the consequences of what that action might cause to herself or others around her because the damage had exceeded the graveyard and hit a few of the nearby building killing some civilians while injuring others. "Excellent, continue to the next step." Sven ordered Ito who merely nodded knowing his lord had seen it, the shadows were his domain after all and everyone including himself and his sister were merely guests within it. Ito still had a single question he wanted an answer to, that question being how in the great devil's name did any of these six make it out of childhood because they seemed like the types to run out in a storm in full plate.
By the time the Ito had left it would have seemed as if the little girl had been saved by the Green Mantis Vice-Captain and was even being praised for how brave she was through the entire ordeal, she was even told that it didn't matter about her markings but that if she worked hard then she would make her dream of being a magic knight real one day. This made the little girl smile from ear to ear. It was when she was helped up she realised who had been helping her the entire time she was inside the shadow mausoleum and fell back down again her eyes as wide as her mouth as she found herself starstruck more so as her very own idol had told her that when she got her grimoire when she was older that she would personally get trained by the vice-captain and she was sure one day captain of the very magic knight squad she adored. Eventually, a happy grin moved across her face as she stood up and hugged the vice-captain's leg "Thank you, thank you, thank you..." she started to say over and over again looking up and going quiet as the vice-captain now addressed the rest of the group about the dangers of what they faced, how this wasn't a game and how they had pretty much been lucky this time around but the chances of lightning striking twice was non-existent.
She again praised the little girl for her actions and told the Blue Roses squad member to heal the child, she nodded "I live nearby." she commented pointing in random direction it would seem after she took a long moment to try to get her bearings. She was about to answer the question about her name when a familiar voice called out to her, making her let go of the vice-captain's let and go hug Valo "You came!" she announced hugging him tighter tears falling down her cheeks "You kept your promise and came Valo" she nodded to his question about still having her doll and showed it to him, it was clear that the doll meant a lot to her because it was still in the same condition he had last seen it in all that time ago. "Yup! Green Mantis is the best magic knight squad Valo! You know this!" she giggled it was almost as if the horrors she had just been through didn't matter to her at that moment "They give second chances to those who want them and do jobs that other squads won't because it might make dirty marks on reports and make them look bad..." she said smiling "You said sometimes dirty marks are needed for the greater good." she nodded remembering some of what she had been told when she had asked Valo why he was leaving home and what he thought of the squads. He had likely been politer on some for her sake most likely than he would otherwise have been if he was talking to an adult but it helped her understand in only the way a then four-year-old could have about magic knight squads but he made it clear to her that regardless of the squad they had all made an oath to protect the Clover Kingdom and its citizens regardless of personal cost.
She didn't quite understand the last part and when she had asked about it was told she'd understand when she grew up and they were working together. That had seemingly made her happy enough at the time not to question it. "You didn't do this Valo, you've got no reason to be sorry." she said almost nuzzling his cheek to cheer him up. This was something that her parents done with her when she was sad and so hoped it would cheer him up too "Home needed help and I called and you're here and you'll protect home... and... and..." she was doing everything she could have thought of to try to make Valo feel better about himself and the situation to their home problem was she wasn't too sure if she was but still wanted to try. She nodded to his question "All I need to do if there's trouble or if I need help is to call your name and you'll come help like you did now." she said showing she remembered everything she was told by him "You know people talk about you Valo and what you've accomplished!" she said happily, it might have not been a big deal for people as strong as the vice-captain nowadays as everyone around the Clover Kingdom now knew of Artemis Somerset the powerful daughter of the sea but surely she would have remembered when her hometown started speaking of her deeds as a magic knight.
It was then she finally noticed the witch "That daemon didn't like you much, he thought you talked too much and wished he was a wind mage so he could have put you in an air pocket." she said holding onto Valo still but she then leaned in and whispered something only he would hear before asking "Does that make me bad Valo?" she looked to her marking again and poked at them wondering if she would ever be able to get rid of them her eyes going back to Seren "I'm don't like the blue roses, they hate half the people in the world unless they're very girlie... it's a naughty way of thinking." she said in a matter of a fact way "Everyone should be accepted and loved for who they are, that's what mommy and daddy say." she finished, she was a blunt four-year-old with an eidetic memory who was raised that everyone and everything bar naughty people should be treated equally regardless of their looks, gender, opinions or backgrounds. She did, however, smile when she was called a friend of the witch and was told she would be as right as rain in no time. She watched as a mysterious light and runes appeared around her, she was amazed and even squealed in excitement at how pretty the spells were. "Pwetty!" she declared almost bounding due to it.
It was when she mentioned about taking some of her mana even for a check-up she hid behind Valo, it was a scary thing to her as she was always taught that no one should ever touch it, that it was special for each and every person. It was even more daunting for her given the ordeal she had just recently been through "No!" she said bluntly "My mana is mine and your mana is yours... it's special... no touchy." she said shaking holding onto Valo tightly shaking tears falling from her eyes again, it was scary for someone her age to be told such a thing but more so by a complete stranger especially just after being held captive by a daemon. It wasn't until the others in the group had their own manas tested she would reluctantly let her own be touched by the sagely witch. Seren would find that the girl's mana was tainted but the taint had seamlessly fused and as it stood it was well above her abilities, in fact, she would be pretty sure that there was no one that could undo what had happened to the girl's mana.
It was then that the girl would reveal something else "None of the children are affected by the darkness really, It's like we're walking around with nightlights" she said with a small smile "Also, while people are in their houses they can see past illusions and they have the same sort of nightlight vision... the bad people have done this so they can see all the bad things... they're setting up so if they do lose so do you" she informed them of what she had heard when her parents won the right to keep her safe. She wasn't too sure if they had won anything at that point as she knew she had been close to being used to activate a golem that would have done some serious harm to the group that had saved her. It was then she scanned the area her eyes going wide as she saw the wall to the north blown out and ran off towards it. "The... the building..." she stuttered as she heard crying and people calling for help, the building was barely standing but it was clear that it would topple at any point. "Help them... please.., please help them..." she cried not passing the wall of the graveyard at first as she wasn't sure if it was safe enough for her to do so but eventually she did, not caring if she was hurt as she wanted to help her friends and neighbours.
Story:
The child has been saved by the group, when asked where she lived she pointed in the direction she lived but Artemis would know the nearest mana well is in the opposite direction. She has given additional information to them about how this darkness affects children in general and adults while they are in their homes. It is clear that even if the daemons are ended the want to ruin everyone's reputation as such things will spread like wildfire throughout the kingdom and the group knows it, the magic knights especially. The group now sees the collateral damage of Genesis's spells, the survivors will, of course, be angry and upset about the loss of their loved ones but will not blame the group fully for what had happened.
Seren now knows that the child's mana is now permanently tainted by the daemon and there is nothing she knows of that will ever purify it. Seren now needs to make a decision on whether to tell the rest of the group what she has discovered and if she does the group, in general, must decide what to do with the child as she could possibly grow up to be a threat to the kingdom.
Valo is given some personal information by the girl when she whispers into his ear, he is told that she can still hear Ito's thoughts unless Seren gives the information as to what is going on with the little girl he will only speculate why that is. He too has to make a decision to let the rest of the group know as to what was said to him. The girl being able to hear the daemons gives an advantage as the group would know what they were planning but her being around means the group would have to protect her as her death could be avoided otherwise.
The child lived nearby, yet it was in the other direction of where the closest well was. [break][break]
Artemis would ponder their conundrum. There was the fact that their first and foremost mission should be the safety of the little girl. She had been through so much already, and Artemis was sure that her parents would be worried sick by now. Any parent would be worried sick if their child had been missing during this calamitous time. Artemis could only imagine just how much her parents were frantic about the matter. There was also the fact that the child had been a target. They needed to get her back inside, safe and sound. The Daemon, after all, had told her that as long as the civilians were inside, they would be safe. While the Daemon’s word was poison, she had no choice but to trust blindly for now. What could she do? No, it was better to keep those thoughts out of her head. [break][break]
“You’re welcome, child.” Artemis would pat the young girl on her back. The last time she had to comfort such a young child had been with her younger brother and sister. And her younger cousins as well. Storms were a constant in Hapshass, being a port town. Children scare easily, though Artemis is less so. So, whenever there was a sleepover, and a storm visited, she would be on babysitter duty. “Be brave. Be strong. Push through any barrier that may come in between you and your dream. Never let anything stop you.” She nodded, before getting up.[break][break]
The conundrum was still there.[break][break]
The child would now go towards Valo, and speak to him. It seems that she knew the young man. Good enough that they were friendly. A friendly face was a good thing to have in a situation like this. Of course, Artemis being here gave the young girl some hope, especially with the hand-crafted doll of herself being clutched by the young girl. That alone would be enough to soothe her. However, having Valo here as a friendly face made this easier.[break][break]
“Daemons. They are all different.” Artemis would turn to the Black Bulls Magic Knight. “Some of them are known to be cunning. Smart. Like this one we are facing. Masters of half-truths. Deceivers.” She would sigh. “Some, yet, are more brash. Strong. Bull-headed. Effective in combat, and very dangerous when cornered.” Turning around, addressing those present, she would continue, “As I said previously, this is no game. This one is a trickster. It is a forked-tongue creature that will twists its words to play with you, with us. Stick together. Work together. And most importantly, do not do anything brash. Be smart. Be calculative. Listen to orders.”[break][break]
Artemis would look towards the young girl once more, “You mentioned wells, I wonder if you were able to hear the Daemons talk about where they are?” The Daemons were not careless. But they seemed to have bestowed some form of information to this child. It was better that they can use it now, gleaned from the young girl as much as they could, before they took her to safety. “Any information at all. A rough estimation of where they are. It would help dearly.” She gave the young girl a nod of confidence.[break][break]
It was then that the young girl would point out a building. Broken. Blasted. Almost crumbling.[break][break]
Artemis’ own instincts immediately kicked in. Her bow spell and the map would would disintegrate into nothing, being replaced by a different spell that Artemis quickly cast above the building itself.[break][break]
“Nereids!”[break][break]
Immediately, three Nereid golems appeared in front of Artemis. All of them quickly went to work with a simple command from Artemis' mana tether. All three of them would wrap themselves around the building that was about to collapse. They would all be the support that the building needed to keep it from falling. The golems' sturdy body, made of coalesced water, would act as a scaffolding of sorts, hopefully just in time before the building collapsed. They also had standing orders to grab as many people as they could if the building does start to collapse. [break][break]
“Quick! My golems will try their best in holding the building, keeping it from collapsing.” Artemis would yell out, getting the group into gear. “Get as many civilians as you can out of the building!” One problem solved, another pops up. This was the game of the Daemon.[break][break]
“Save as many as you can. Do not use any spells that might hit the building nor my golems. Concern yourself in both the citizens’ and your safety,” she would warn, hoping that no more brash spell use would be seen. Artemis would not tolerate any dangerous acts, no matter how noble the intention.[break][break]

And while that was happening, hovering next to Artemis, was Seren. She was standing on her broom and leaning forward, squinting against the darkness as she assessed the situation. Truly, she would have rushed in first, or as first as she was able, if Artemis had not secured things. Seren was extremely thankful Artemis had.
Niho~ I don’t know how many I could have helped by scrambling~ but now we we’ve got a shot to gather everyone~ though with the way things have been going tonight we might save no one instead~ hmmmm~ niho~
Seren’s mind continued to race as she imagined options, discarded, and ordered them like a poker hand. As she did so, she equipped her notepad she always kept on her person and began to scribble like a woman possessed. Sheets would crumple, fly out left and right, and be caught in her open bag held aloft by one of her spare broom golems. This may have been a crisis, but littering was still no good. In the end two documents were produced by the witch: A schematic, and a letter.
Seren began with the schematic.
“Hmmmm~ Vice Captain Ar-Ar~ I have an idea niho~ why not remodel the building instead of bringing everyone outside niho~ maybe like this~~~? Wouldn’t it be better than having everyone wander wander wandering outside~? Niho~?”
It was hard to tell if the witch was serious, but what she had doodled was a method to collapse the building into a one bedroom shack with a makeshift roof. It involved using the nereid golems, liberal safety barriers for small loose debris, and a gradual controlled disassembly process to slowly remove the other floors by having them fall outwards at a slope away from the shelter room on the first floor, very much like rain hitting upon a peaked roof. It would probably work, in theory, so long as it worked.
As she showed Artemis this, probably to her great displeasure, Seren would give a playful but rather serious wink as she slid the second document into one of Artemis’ pockets.
“Nihaha~ I was always a pretty strong contender at witch blocks~ niho~ because I am wise~ I always came in third place~!”
The second document was titled as follows, ‘A Witch’s Diagnosis’
As she did so, Seren muttered uncharacteristically quietly.
“-----and some stories are better saved for the epilogue~ niho~ for now~ give it a glance when you’re alone~”
Perhaps surprising to some who may eventually read it, the report was an intricately detailed list of findings on the girl’s mana. It contained plain clovarian at the top, went into greater magitific detail in the middle, and at the end contained three similes describing the girl’s mana from Seren’s own firsthand perspective.
---Her mana smells like oiled eels. ---Her mana tastes like spicy eggs. ---Her mana feels like muddy sand bubbles.
Seren had listed no known cures, that she, well, knew of. But she also detailed that she had little knowledge of demonification in the first place, so that was very little cause for despair. Finally, Seren had been tempted to put the Witch Queen down as an obvious source of a cure, but with the forest sealed as it were, Seren omitted that for later.
“Niho~ so is it witchstruction time~?”
Seren asked enthusiastically as she slid a copy of the diagnosis report into her hat.
Hang on to that for me niho~ kay Momo~?
“Either way~! I volunteer for entry~! If there’s people hurt~ we will need a first responder niho~! Who wants to clear my way~?”
