For a few moments, the shadow mage allowed herself to wallow in the dark thoughts that invaded into her mind. Who knew how many she had hurt, how many she had injured, how many whose lives she had possibly taken away from her impulsive decision? When had she last thought of others and their welfare? Honestly, she could not remember, unless it was linked to her own benefit. The world showed no compassion to her, so why should she care about what happened to them? Perhaps she would be better off as a rogue—if only her conscience would allow it. That is, what little that remained.
A grimace crossed her face, but it was only for one fleeting moment. Despite seeing the obvious damage she has done, the young redhead was more concerned about what her mentor would have thought if he saw her now. He would have reprimanded her of her temper, and she would have hung her head. But he was not here now, and her head was not down. In fact, her chin was jutted out, and to anyone who looked closely, her gaze was frosty. An inauspicious shade had crossed her features, and imprinted its taint upon her soul.
What was she turning into? For all she knew, there was something at work here, and not just in the physical realm. Perhaps the daemon exercised more power than what can be seen. He has done an excellent job playing with her mind so far. After all, those who lived in shadows never do escape its grasp, nor can break free from others who wield the same power.
However, a little part of her rebelled, momentarily cutting off the destructive train of thought. If she was indeed being influenced by the daemon’s tactics, whatever they were, then she would not fall into that. Genesis steeled herself. Her mind needed to be clear and grounded, otherwise she would lose her sanity and her conscience. She hated losing to others, and certainly did not plan on losing to their enemy now.
Apparently the explosions had also hit a nearby building, and one of its walls was starting to crumble. Just as it was about to start falling, golems suddenly appeared and supported it, keeping it upright. She did not see who did it, but since they were made out of water, it must be the vice captain. Civilians first, she supposed, though she was a civilian herself and the main reason why they were in trouble. Heck, most of them probably saw her and knew it was her who caused the destruction.
What an irony. A disturbing and abhorrent irony.
A blur went by her side. It was the little girl. It seemed like she was trying to help. Good intention, but there was too much at risk here, especially when she was the one marked out by the daemon and whom the group had tried so hard to save. She was their crutch, their weakness, yet also their greatest asset for information. If anything happened to her, who knows what would happen?
Genesis ran up past the child and onto her path, attempting to cut her off from nearing the hazardous structure. “Stay back.” She said shortly. For once, she would be glad if her scarred face scared the little girl enough to run back to the safety of the group. If that indeed happened, the young woman would turn around and head towards the crumbling building, clearing the rubble. She would work silently, moving some fallen debris to clear the path so the people inside could move out safely. Whether the citizens accepted her help was up to them—but at least she was attempting to atone for her sins.
Notes & Stuff
Summary: Continued receiving int healing from Seren (-5 mana), processed through some dark thoughts, attempted to stop the child from running towards the crumbling building, started clearing and helping civilians out
“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
Hans took a good look at himself, wanting to make sure that it was only part of his mana skin that was robbed, and not anything else. Everything seemed to check out, but it was still unfortunate since the merc was confident that he'd need all of his mana skin if he'd have to actually confront something.
Hearing the giggling of the little girl, Hans looked over to see her getting along well with that vice captain, and the fire mage shortly after. It was nice that they were able to save the girl...or rather it was nice that Artemis was able to save her since no one else contributed in any real way that was good, Hans included of course. The witch was of great help with her healing however, so she couldn't really be grouped up with the rest. The more these events continued, it just made Hans feel even more irrelevant and useless. Though, Hans was never really a good guy to begin with, usually only helping others for yul. He was no hero...just a lousy mercenary trying to make his way in life one coin at a time.
Breaking from his depressing thoughts, Hans looked back at Artemis as she started to speak about Daemons, and once again remind the group that this isn't a game. It was obvious that Artemis had previous experiences with Daemons before, and the fact that she's still here, alive and well meant that she knew what she was doing. Clearly the water mage was going to be their best bet at stopping these monsters.
With Artemis speaking to the child once again about these wells, Hans stepped over to Gen. With what had recently happened, the merc and Charles were no longer the only ones ridden with guilt here....
"Hey. Gen right?" the dark mage slid his sword back in its sheathe, but his grimoire remained floating beside him, now closed. "That explosion....None of us could've possibly known that would happen." He claimed, looking at the destroyed graveyard, or at least what he was able to see. He wanted to say more, return the favor of the words she exchanged with him. Their lowered visions could've played a roll in the mistake. She didn't intend for any of that to happen. The merc simply shook his head and looked at the shadow mage. "We just need to be more careful. Also..."The dark mage attempted to place a hand on her shoulder, his expression appearing a bit more serious than sincere. "All of that anger you have boiling inside, focus it all on the Daemons...not yourself." He'd then back up a bit and nod. This was a bit more sinister, even for Hans, but he was also saying this for himself.
The little girl screamed, causing Hans to instantly turn in her direction! Then she pointed at a building that was torn up and on the verge of collapsing, with people still inside! What's worse, the little girl started to run towards it, causing Hans to gasp lightly!
Hans was just about to use one of his defense spells to stop the girl from going any further, but it appears that Gen was already on it! A sigh of relief escaped the merc's lips. Again he was no hero, but the man still had a soft spot for children, and it didn't matter who really protected the girl, so long as she came out of this safe.
The merc instead cast another defense spell on himself, an armor of darkness. "Malevolent Armor." Hans headed towards the building, now being held up by the water mage's golems as well, and attempted to help Gen with removing the rubble, hoping that his spell will protect him from any falling debris.

"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
For a few moments in the middle of all this madness, Valo's mind was put at ease when talking with Nanami. He was more then happy to see her safe and sound and no longer in harms way. Her young life would no longer be in danger for now at least, they had to get her home. Her parents were probably worried sick about her, Valo would make this a priority over everything else. She mentioned that some of the people in Kikka started to talk about what he accomplished, he didn't think about this much at all. It left him feeling a little embarrassed honestly, he rubbed the back of his head. "ahaha...really?? I didn't think people would know of me yet. That's pretty cool."
He started to recall what he told her when they first met, he smirked to himself when realized that was the first times he started to get a little soft. He always had a soft spot for children and kids, never really wanting to endanger them and put them in harms way. Even when he was running his little gang, he made it clear that kids were off limits they wouldn't steal from kids there was no honor in that. But when he was finally taking off to become a magic knight and ran into Nanami, his usual rough, rowdy, and rude nature started to subside it was still there of course at times but not as much as before. She leaned in after talking to the witch Seren, she whispered something in his ear that made him quite curious. "No that doesn't make you bad Nanami, hey its ok. We all get marks, and scars from time to time being a magic knight. It comes with the job, if anything your more of a magic knight than these guys." Valo said gesturing to the rag tag group.
Valo watched as Nanami hid behind him to avoid Seren, the little girl didn't want her mana taken and that made sense he couldn't blame her. But Valo made sure she had no reason to worry about it, Seren from what Valo could tell was a kind witch a bit talkative but also very colorful there was nothing to fear. Eventually the young girl had a change of heart and let just a little bit of her mana be taken by Seren, it all worked out when she became interested in all the pretty flying colors.
Valo leaned lower to catch every word Nanami was saying, when she spoke again. The girl had a lot of information that they could use, the more they knew about this plan the better they had to start putting an end to this Daemon's plan so far they had just been playing right in the palm of his hands. But first he wanted to get Nanami home, bit it looked like she had other ideas. She started running towards a falling building, Valo tried to grab her but was just a bit to slow luckily Genesis stopped her path forward causing Valo to sigh in relief.
But now he had to focus on getting these people out, his grimoire came to his side glowing a red hue color. "Hi no Tori!" he spoke the words to his golem spell, three spheres of fire started to morph and change into three birds made of flame. Valo ran forward toward the falling building, his vice captain Artemis used her own golems to coil around the building holding it up giving them enough time to evacuate people. While Genesis and Hans worked silently, Valo did the opposite and made sure his voice was heard. "All civilians out now!!" he shouted at the people in the falling building, his voice and tone was rather aggressive but it would get the job done. "If you have children or can't run on your own two feet! Hitch a ride!" he said pointing at his three golems now flying in to carry people to safety. He himself would reach in, and help people get out with his own hands. But he was also careful enough to not get hit by any large debris, making sure none of it would hit him or a civilian trying to get out.

Artemis soon replied to his question. Which grabbed the attention of Charles. Daemons were different and it appeared like the type of Daemon they were going against was different from others. Calculative, manipulative, and playing everyone here like a game of chess. "I see..." The Black Bull nodded to Artemis. He now had a better understanding of the Daemons. He had heard of them, but this was his first encounter with them. It just resulted that the Daemon they were going against preferred to engage in mental games and psychological warfare. Tricking him and Hans into attacking a bunch of children who they believed were mana beasts was a clear example. Though some of his motives were still unknown like why he saved them. It was clear there was a good reason behind it. He had to be wary and perceptive as any aggressive move without thinking twice could result in another mistake as it happened before. [break][break] Charles continued to hear over the conversation Artemis had with the little girl after she answered his question. The little girl knew all of this which was followed up when Artemis said if she heard what the Daemons said. If she knew anything more about their plans wouldn't that mean she was a possible target? He asked himself that, still unaware that the girl was actually able to hear what the Daemons said. The Black Bull decided to remain quiet for now about the fact that she was a possible target, he didn't want to have the girl panic as she might not be able to handle the fact that she is still in danger. They still managed to obtain information about those wells that were the source of power in Kikka so they managed to accomplish something for the time being. The girl also brought up that the people of Kikka were able to see everything that was going around them without issues. That meant one thing to the silver mage. They saw how he attacked those children despite being under an illusion. This wasn't good for him, he already felt guilty that he injured children, even though they were saved by the looks of it. The villager's views on him were probably not good. [break][break] The girl will then point out that one of the buildings was about to collapse. Artemis was the first to respond and created some golems to hold the building with Valo later joining to help out with his Golems. Charles made his way to help the civilians out the building prioritizing getting out the children and women first and anyone who struggled to get out of the building. Right now they were vulnerable to attacks. He just hoped nothing else will happen as they had their hands busy at the moment. The girl attempted to get in and help out, but it seemed like Genesis already had that covered so there he didn't have to worry about that. [break][break]
Before noticing and running forward towards the house that seemed to be barely holding on to its structure, the little girl known as Nanami smiled brightly and nodded to his question "Yup!" she said grinning proudly as she looked up to him "And I get to say that I know you but some people don't believe me but I know the truth and that's all that matters." nodded her head once in a matter of a fact way. The conversation, however, turned serious when she was told that getting scars and marks were just part of what it meant to be a magic knight and that because of her own she was already more of a magic knight than many of the current company Valo was with. She was unsure if this was to make her feel better or if it was the truth so a puzzled look had formed over her face "They're scary." she whispered knowing that people would likely look at her different for something she couldn't help, she was even pretty sure her parents would have to leave town and didn't want them to do that, the entire town had been put in a situation that turned friends and family into enemies that had fought for the survival of their children. She knew that alone had caused scars that might never heal but she didn't know how to make it better, she was in that stage of life where there was only good and bad, there wasn't anything in the middle for her and she was afraid that people would see her as bad.
Although she had heard the vice-captain's question she hadn't answered it as she was to busy trying to get to the building that seemingly had been close to crumbling, the cries of injured people for those they had lost filled the air. It made Nanami's eyes water as she started to cry it was when she was about to get to close that Gen had gotten in her way making her come to a sudden stop as she looked up at the woman. "B... but the people..." she stuttered, she had no idea what was going on or just how bad the structural damage was all she knew was that there were people inside injured and crying because of actions that had happened previously. Nanami didn't see who caused it and like most people didn't care because right now there was something more important so that took priority, she did, however, know there was no way she could take out or outrun an adult so just waited where she was looking on helplessly as the grownups did their best to help everyone else as that was all she could do. She looked at Hans as he then spoke to Gen, it was like he was trying to make her feel better about the actions that she had done, it was then she realised what had happened was because of something one of the group had done "Misses lady? It was an accident right?" she asked tugging at Gen's hand, her voice almost begging the red-headed woman to say that it had been. In honesty, she didn't want to believe that those she idolized would be with people who knowingly or willfully done harm to innocent people but she wanted to ask to be sure.
Nanami had no idea about the paper slipped to Artemis from the sagely Blue Roses witch but even if she had she'd still not know what was on it though she would have been as curious as any four-year-old little girl would have been on the matter and by the point of the conversation happened between the member of the blue rose and the vice-captain happened Nanami was too far away to hear it. She watched as water and fire golems helped keep the structure standing and help those who were too injured get out of the building but something was off about this whole situation. Those who entered the wreck of a building would notice instantly notice a heavy pressure around them that wasn't apparent outside of it, it would almost feel like they were being smothered by it and would feel it quite hard to breathe due to it. What made it worse was the citizens inside seemed odd, they didn't even attempt to move out of the building even when Valo had ordered it, in fact, they started moving sluggishly towards the trio that were in or near the building.
Story:
Nanami has stopped by Genisis and looking on as the group try to save those inside the house, due to Hans words she's put two and two together and pleaded that this was just a mistake and that genesis didn't mean to do as she did while holding her hand. Due to the distraction of the building, Nanami hasn't answered Artemis's question nor did she see the letter be passed from Seren her or the conversation that happened afterwards. Hans, Valo and Charles all feel a pressure fall over their bodies the moment they enter and will feel it hard to breathe until they exit the building. Right now moving outside the building seems to be three injured citizens and they are hobbling towards the graveyard where Nanami, Seren, Genesis and Artemis is while there are three within the building moving the same way towards Hans, Charles and Valo. There is a killer instinct in the eyes of these citizens.
Seren as you rolled a 1 other than how the citizens are acting you notice nothing out of the ordinary.
Genesis as you rolled a 3 you can feel like there's something not right about the entire situation but you aren't able to quite put your finger on it
Charles, you rolled a 1 too but since you actually ran into the building you get a bit more information than you normally would have. Since you feel the pressure around your body and feel it hard to breathe you are pretty sure there's at least one spell at play.
Hans and Valo, you both rolled a 3 and are inside the buildings so you too gain more information than you normally would, you can't tell the type of spells being used but you're pretty sure you've just entered a mana zone making anything you fight in there more dangerous putting you at a disadvantage.
Artemis you rolled a 6 you can tell the entire wrecked area is a shadow mana zone that had been activated when the explosion triggered a trap, moreover, it is one giant illusion with several debuffs in place. You can tell that no one was actually injured or killed by the explosion that had happened, you also can tell that these citizens aren't right that they've been infected by something, you can tell that they can be made to leave their hosts by taking damage but to much damage will kill the host while not harming the parasite at all.
Those in the building take a 25% cut to speed due to the pressure they're feeling and the difficulty breathing while within it. This debuff will end when you leave the mana zone.
Citizens - Int health but will die if they sustain this Infesting Mana beasts - Int health
There are six of these this round, 3 with Charles, Hans and Valo and 3 heading towards Artemis, Genesis and Seren.
[attr="class","artemistext"] Artemis would pause for a moment.[break][break]
There were citizens within the building itself. Her concentration was only broken for a moment as Genesis made her move to stop the young girl from running closer towards the broken building. It was better this way. They really can not afford any more casualties, especially another child. Artemis was sure that their previous encounter and subsequent debacle with the children illusioned to be mana beasts had affected their group. Especially the two that seemed to have done the most damage.[break][break]
“Keep her safe for now-” Artemis would speak to Genesis, before she was stopped by another presence. [break][break]
“An illusion?” She would ponder, finally seeing what the whole area looked like. “A mana zone…” Artemis turned towards the rest of the surroundings. She felt some form of pressure around them, specifically towards the destroyed building that was being kept from collapsing by her own golems. She would peer through the darkness, using whatever was left of her Ki sensing and natural sensory. “There’s something wrong here…”[break][break]
Floating slightly, she used her flight speed to make her way towards three civilians coming out of the building. From their looks, they seemed fine. Yet something was wrong with their mana. They looked slightly injured, yet that was not what was causing Artemis to make a double take on them. [break][break]
“They have been infected by something. Or someone.” She would announce, turning back to Genesis and Seren. The civilian and the Blue Rose Magic Knight would be flagged down by Artemis’ own voice carrying through the open space.[break][break] “Knock them out with your weakest spell! These people have been compromised by the Daemons!” Artemis would have her grimoire out then. Mana surged around her as she found one of her weakest spells.[break][break]
“Pleione.”[break][break]
Two water whips appeared on both of Artemis’ hands. She gripped them tight, letting the spell complete its manifestation. It took less than a second, and without pausing anymore, she lashed out at the closest one, sending the whip straight towards their neck area that would cause a small trauma just enough to knock them out. She trusted the other two on the ground to be able to knock out the last two, as she quickly made her way towards the building itself. [break][break]
Her speed made her journey almost instantaneous as she arrived just outside the building, close enough for the other three members of their group to hear her. Peering through the cracks, she found herself staring at three other civilian who were compromised by the Daemons.[break][break] “Those three have been infected by the Daemon! Knock them out with your weakest spells,” Artemis would announce, just loud enough for the rest of the group to hear her. “Single target only!” She would add, making sure that no more unnecessary damage would be done to the building itself.[break][break]
Artemis would then float upwards, placing herself at the center of the field of vision. She was at the midway point between the building and the rest of the group that stayed outside. The Green Mantis Vice Captain trusted that her companions would be able to complete such a simple task. However, the consequences of knocking these civilians out are unknown. It was best that she be able to help out the group that might need her the most. For now, she would retain a bird’s eye view as she let her sensory skills map out the whole area, making sure that every single crevice was upturned and analyzed. It was then that she remembered the Blue Rose Magic Knight sneaking a note into her pocket. She would need to read that soon.[break][break]

A somewhat familiar voice was addressing her. The redhead turned to see Hans, the dark mage she had spoken to earlier. What an interesting contrast, that he was offering soothing words of encouragement to her now. Strangely enough, their roles seemed to have reversed. It did not hit her how much a somewhat friendly word or interaction could matter so much. Until now.
She bit down on her lower lip and nodded, acknowledging that she heard his words. It was true, none of them knew what could have happened back there, but perhaps if she had stopped and thought about it for a moment longer, she probably would have thought to deal with it in a different way. For that split second, she allowed the hand on her shoulder, although her body still tensed from the physical contact. Others had not been so fortunately when they attempted to lay a hand on her person. But since he was one of the two people in the group she could rely on, she let it pass. This time.
“Merci,” she murmured, even though she suspected she may be in too deep already. Her one spell had caused major destruction to the entire town of Kikka. It was probably a good thing that she was not in affiliation with any particular group—that singular mistake would have cost a group’s reputation dearly. All those could haves and should haves...but what has happened has happened. She needed to move on from it, otherwise she would forever be stuck in the past. However, how the young woman would become is probably different from others.
It was a cold feeling that enveloped her now. Unlike the earlier episodes of fiery anger or rage, a chilling intensity now settled into the shadowy recess of her soul, spreading its tendrils of unnatural composure throughout her veins. If it was anger, its passionate fire had died out, leaving her strangely cool and calm. Her mind was clear, her breathing was regular, her hands were steady. What was happening to her? Were her shadows starting to take over their host?
When she had stopped the little girl from running towards the crumbling building, Genesis had not expected her to talk to her, much less grab her hand. Two physical contacts in one day. She must be going mad. Or senseless. Possibly both.
The little girl was responding back to her. An accident? “Yes, it was an accident.” She said slowly. A mistake of her own hands. Genesis bent down until she was on eye level with the child. Clear grey-green eyes took in those shadow brands on the innocent skin, and something seemed to loosen within her. They were not too different. The red-haired female had been shunned from birth because of the cursed scar across her face, and now this young girl would possibly be subjected to the same shunning because of the daemon’s marks on her.
“Even if you are marked or cursed like me,” here she pointed to the scar across her left eye, “find ways to become strong. But don’t be hasty like me.” She offered a small, if not pained, smile, not knowing what else to say. The shadow mage was never good with words, especially those that were encouraging or wise. She nodded back to where the Blue Rose knight was. “Go back to the nice healing lady. She’ll keep you safe until this is all over.” Before moving on, she would watch to make sure the child was under the care of the said witch.
As Genesis cleared the rubble on the outside of the building, she felt something amiss. She could not exactly sense what it was, but something was wrong. She looked up to see three injured citizens making their way towards her. She frowned. Why were they not evacuating, running for their lives? Something was definitely wrong here.
The vice captain had flown over to the three people in question, and...whipped one into oblivion? At this point, whatever was going to happen should not surprise her. Then she heard the order, which she was only too happy to oblige. She was glad to hit something. Anything. Anything to bring her back to a slice of normalcy. Then came the warning. Of course. She would not be making that mistake again.
The shadow mage ran towards the remaining two citizens. Upon nearing one of them, she could see the unnatural and feral look in his eyes. Though he was injured, his countenance said nothing of the pain he must be feeling. Nay, it seemed like the opposite. He looked like he was about ready to kill her. Immediately her mind flashed back to earlier, when the children had been disguised as mana beasts. Was it a similar situation here?
Without slowing her speed, Genesis ran straight up to the one closest to her and immediately brought her fist down on the man's stomach. As he reeled back and recovered his balance, she would throw a punch on his temple with her other hand, knocking him out. Then she would turn and run towards the other one, ready to also knock them out if the witch had not gotten to them first.

“Ehhhhh~ really~ niho~? They’re puppet people~ niho~? Why is nothing normal here niho~?! I would like to file a complaint with the demon office niho~! Well whatever~ order received~~ Dropping field and beginning supporting fire~! Ethercanon Magic~ Ethershard~ Niho~! Take one and call me in the morning~~~!”
The radial healing field dissipated as glowing shards of Ether began to surround Seren and charge. The witch held her position as she observed her targets. Seeing Genesis send the baby mantis towards her, Seren gave the woman, “Merci”, a nod. Well~ it’s not like I don’t have experience watching baby humans~ niho~ well then in these sorts of situations baby humans just need a little structure~ niho~ something to focus on and to make them feel a little special~ in that case~ niho~~~
Seren dismounted the broom she was riding and set boots on the ground. She was still monitoring the enemies as the child reached her.
“Welcome back little mantis~ niho~ you are looking very very energetic~ which is very very good~ because I have a little project for you~ niho~”
Seren nodded as she gestured with her chin. The broom the witch had been formerly riding was guided toward the child, and Seren waited for her to grasp it. Seren pulled her other two brooms closer to her, one of which entered the witch’s own left hand.
“Nihaha~ today you are a very lucky girl~ niho~ because today you will receive your very first lesson from the great sage of The Witches' Forest~”
Seren looked at the girl out of the corner of her eye.
“This is a broom~ there are many like it~ but this one is mine~ niho~ a real~ true~ witch's broom made from a love of magic~ Learn the feeling of it in your hands~ and someday you may yet be graced with your very own~ Take it niho~ and keep your breathing calm and steady~ yes just like that~ now I want you to imagine yourself at your strongest~ not just at this moment~ but in the future~ the place where you will stand one day~ because you are fighting for that future~ niho~ and a true broom is a bridge to a great many things~ What is strength to you little mantis~? Is it the power and discipline of Vice Captain Ar-Ar ~? Niho~? Or does it look a little more like your special love love friend who never says quit~? For me~ it is in the courage to take another step~ one journey in front of the other~ toward my very best self~”
Seren guided the girl so they were standing back to back, each with their brooms forward. The little mantis’ form was far from perfect, but she would feel Seren guiding her through the golem.
“A magic knight is someone who fights to protect~ usually others~ sometimes ourselves~ niho~ protect what matters and you will never have to worry about anything else~”
Seren nodded once more.
“Today~ you will be watching my back~ and you must stay at my back niho~ or we will both be in very big danger~ alone we each have two eyes and one back~ together~ like this~ we have four eyes and no backs~ I know this because I am wise~”
Seren’s ether shards began to glow even brighter as they began to rotate around her right arm.
“Are you ready niho~? Let the broom guide you~ this is your first assignment as a deputy little mantis magic knight intern~ the very first in history~ your very first step to a great many things~ Today you are my shadow~ and in the future~ a mountain~ niho~ let’s take the next step forward~ together~”
Seren took a deep breath.
“CITIZENS OF CLOVER~!!! GRIT YOUR TEETH~!!! FOR HOPE HAS ARRIVED~!!! NIHO~!!!”
Seren fired, the ether spark made its way toward the possessed citizen that Gemini had not yet struck. Streaking forward, it struck the puppet civilian right in the jaw for junior damage knocking him or her out. Seren also sapped 5 mana from this target for analysis, similar to the little girl from before.
“How are you holding up little mantis~ niho~? I want you to keep talking~ no matter what~ niho~ this is very important~! ~~~Nihaha~ if you have nothing to say i’ll teach you a fun witchsong instead~~~~”

Drained 5 mana from target to study their mana.
“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
The moment Hans entered the collapsing building, the atmosphere started to grow heavy. "So-something's not right..." he grunted, his body struggling some while continuing to stand! The merc's breathing started to grow heavy too, and he was beginning to sense a heavy mana signature from all around. "A Mana Zone?" Hans looked around and grit his teeth. This was definitely another one of the Daemon's tricks, but he was going to have to bare with it to get these trapped civilians out as well as have Charles and Valo's backs! "Stay alert." the merc said towards the other two, assuming that they would be feeling this same pressure as well. Hopefully his defensive armor will continue to hold up since he'll need it on top of staying alert for any more trickery!
Hans went through the rubble and looked around until he came across three citizens. They were all making their way towards the three mages...and they appeared to be out of it, but Hans didn't pay any mind to this at first as he was more concerned about getting them out. "Come this way! We'll get you out!" Hans yelled, gesturing them to come, not that he needed to do that anyway.
"Wait..." The merc squinted his eyes and slowly stopped gesturing as the citizens drew closer. He now had a proper look at their faces...noticing the looks on their faces. They didn't seem distressed, nor relived. The look these citizens were giving the trio was one Hans was all too familiar with...killing intent. The dark mage's hand hovered to his sheathed blade's hilt, a similar expression crossing his face as well out of instinct. Hans stopped himself from grabbing the sword as he heard Artemis speaking behind him. "Right...of course." he muttered, shaking his head as if to snap himself out of a daze. Of course they were possessed. The armored merc wasn't thinking straight a few seconds ago. The moment he saw those murderous eyes staring back at him, it triggered something in the merc. He was raised to be a ruthless soldier, and despite trying his best to deviate from that, his crooked past still had a habit of creeping up on him.
Gathering himself, Hans looked at one of the citizens, assuming Charles and Valo would handle the others. They're just innocent people being used as puppets against their will...not the enemy. He pondered over using his black hole spell again, to absorb whatever was possessing them...but that might prove to be risky since this was something Hans had never tried before. Instead, he decided to try a more hands on approach...
"Vincula." A dark aura surrounded Hans' armored body. Stretching his arm out at the citizen, a chain of darkness manifested from the aura around the merc's arm, aiming to coil it around one of the citizen's legs to lower their speed! With that, Hans would rush at the citizen, and once he was close enough, the dark mage would ram his fist into the citizen's stomach then follow it up with an elbow to the nose! "Sorry." If successful, he'd catch the citizens unconscious body, but kept the chain around their leg in case they'd try something else.
Their nose may not be pretty after this...but at least they were still alive.

Charles entered the building that was collapsing to help out whoever was inside there while Artemis and Valo's golems held the building to avoid the entire building from falling on top of them. The first thing he felt upon was entering his body began to feel heavy, it was harder to breathe. It felt like a sudden pressure and as if he was placed a bunch of rocks on top of his body. He couldn't understand anything, but he looked around and it seemed like Valo and Hans seemed to show similar struggles. "The hell..." Something was off about the place, did they fall into another trap? That something that crossed his mind after all everything felt normal just before he entered the building so. A moment after he heard Hans say Mana Zone which made him question if the place was a mana zone. This seemed possible due to the fact the entire building felt strange and the air around it felt heavy. [break][break] The dark mercenary called out the civilians that were stuck between the rubble. Something felt off, the civilians showed no signs of distress or any sort of panic. Which was not normal considering a building almost collapsed on them. Their first thing in mind will be to get out of that place as soon as possible. Their movement was also strange, were they injured? Even so, if they were injured they will ask for help. Charles looked at Hans who seemed to have felt the same thing after seeing the civilians. Something was off without a doubt. [break][break] Suddenly he heard the voice from Artemis from outside the building. She explained how those three civilians they saw were infected by the Daemon, somehow. This explained their surprisingly strange behavior. The Vice-Captain of the Green Mantis also pointed out to use their weakest spell. That was something the silver mage was already planning to do before she even mentioned it. After all, he wouldn't want to gravely injure or even possibly kill any of them. Hans ran up first and restrained one of the civilians. The mercenary did exactly what he just had in mind. His grimoire came alight and floated right beside him. Silver String Bindings..." A thick thread of silver was sent towards one of the citizens. If successful the citizen will be restrained and his speed will be reduced. Soon after launching spell, the Black Bull ran up to the citizen. Punching the citizen on the stomach and then hitting his back with his elbow. If successful the citizen will fall just to get grabbed by Charles before hitting the ground and gently placed him down. "Sorry..." He said as he sighed, it was likely he will have some minor injuries, but they had a healer outside they could rely upon. The silver mage then took a step back, unsure if there was anything going on his surroundings and trusting that Valo will get deal with the last remaining citizen. Things seemed to be going far too well and he was sure the Daemons weren't going to simply leave him and the rest of the group off the hook the easily. This was a possible distraction to prevent them from reaching those wells. [break][break]

Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
As Valo entered the building he felt something was definitely off and not right, it was as if the air itself was different. Of course nothing was going to be simple, with the town covered in darkness how could he expect it to be. The only thing he could do was give it his all and try to save as many people as he could. Valo turned his focus to the three civilians in the building, they didn't look normal not at all. Valo took a breath and noticed the air was different indeed, it was harder to breathe in this air. "Tch it's always something." Valo said to himself looking around the room to make sure nothing else would catch him off guard.
Valo never taking his eyes off the three civilians, noticing their killer like intent. The magic knight wouldn't feel a certain way about putting down a fellow resident of Kikka, if he had to do it for he would. But he was at least going to make the attempt not to. "You stay alert." Valo responded to the swordsman, he realized he still didn't really know this guy and didn't have a name for him either. But he wasn't completely fond, of fighting beside him or Charles. For the most part he let their mistake from before go, but he didn't forget it and he wouldn't either.
"Hey!! You guys alright!? That look on your face is making me a bit uneasy!" Valo said towards the three civilians, hoping for some kind of response. Valo started to take a few steps forward noticing something else was off about his body and this room. He moved his right leg back and forth with a confused face, and followed that up with a couple of punches not hitting anything but air. "Am I slower?" he asked himself, Valo noticed that his overall speed was a bit slower than usual now in this building. Valo was more fighter than mage, so strange effects on his body he would notice rather quickly. Especially speed and how he moved, quick fast movement was a priority to him and he didn't favor being slowed down. His grimoire strapped to his leg started to glow a red hue color, as he activated another spell. "Fureaakuseru V two." he said the spell would not boost his speed so he was now twice as fast as before. The building still slowed him down, but now he was at least a faster.
It was right after he activated his spell, his vice captain Artemis would appear at the building entrance she informed the three that the civilians were infected by the daemon. And they were to knock them out with their weakest spells. "Easy enough." Valo said cracking the knuckles in his right fist. This would be the first time he would be on the offensive since this whole madness started, but it was against daemon corrupted innocents. This wasn't really going to be an enjoyable fight, the more he thought about it the more he wanted to get his hands on the Daemons themselves.
Valo wouldn't be the first to make his move though, he hung back just a bit and watched how the other two in the building with him handle their threats. He started to dash in moving in towards the last one, his Hi no tori golems flew behind him just in case he needed them for back up. Valo would use his increased speed, to close the distance between him and the target. Valo didn't plan on hitting the target with a spell, his physical attacks should prove to be enough damage to knock out the civilian. When he was close enough, Valo would aim to punch the target straight in the gut once and using that same arm to stop the guy from falling to the ground. Valo's three golems landed on the ground in a circle around him, just as he commanded via mana tether.

The little girl remained with Genesis listening to her words as she said what had happened was indeed an accident, she kept her own small hand in the hand of the elder woman and smiled squeezing her hand "Then don't worry, people will forgive you." she said with an innocent child's tone, to her it was very cut and dry and so the adult should see that too "Everyone deserves another chance if it's an accident besides, the bad people are far worse so no matter if you were naughty you are not the worst naughty person in Kikka." she said trying to help the red-headed woman feel better about the situation. Where it was true the group might end up causing destruction of property, injuring or even killing and where it wasn't generally looked favourably on especially from magic knights this was an extenuating circumstance where things could be overlooked by the people for the most part. Kikka was now a battlefield of war against not one, not two but three daemons and their minions so collateral damage was likely going to happen as it did in all cases so in that case the group would indeed be the lesser of the two evils and forgiven their slights. It wasn't like anyone in the group had been sent there or taken it upon themselves in the case of the citizens they just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time (or the right time depending on how you looked at it.) and were trying to do their best to get ahead of a daemon that always seemed to be steps ahead of them as they could see everything happening in Kikka through the shadows that engulfed the town.
It was clear the group was underprepared for this as there was no clear method in any the daemons madness and any strategy they openly spoke of was seemingly countered. Sven was like a cat playing with six mice and he was quick to administer punishment for those who messed up as was shown when he protected everyone but Gensis allowing her to take the full force of the blast her folly had created while allowing severe damage to the others from what the friendly fire had created. The entire group would have known if he hadn't she would have single handily knocked them all out and possibly had allowed Kikka to fall on that mistake alone. That was in the past and they had all survived it with their lives and limbs intact... at least for now. The little girl blinked as Genesis started to come down to her level and speak to her, she listened intently as if taking in some lost secret knowledge from the elder woman "You're cursed too?" she whispered tilting her head to the left in confusion as she watched Genesis point out her own mark on her eye before she continued to talk "Only fools rush in where angels fear to tread, that's what mommy says." nodding "Daddy says even in dangerous and chaotic times a person must be like the calm in the centre of a storm. They must be focused, aware of their surroundings and most of all they must be patient or it could cause catastrophic things to happen. I don't know what it means but daddy is really smart." she said happily hoping she was helping the other as well with the words of wisdom she was spoken to by her parents. She looked to where Genesis was pointing and nodded before running over to the member of the blue roses almost stumbling over rubble created by the tombstones, walls, mausoleums and statues that were now on the ground.
Due to her running towards the one she was instructed to the young girl never actually seen Genesis run-up to the man that had been closest to her and not only punch him in the stomach but the temple. It might have been for the best as she knew the man and would have tried to have stopped her from doing such a thing causing her to get hurt along the way most likely. She looked up to the magic knight who she had been instructed to go to, and where she seemed to be saying a lot of things it mostly went over the little girls head because she had no idea what most of it meant "I'm not a little mantis..." she said suddenly thinking that she was talking about the insect and not the squad. She took the broom that was handed to her and look at what the taller woman had been doing to make sure she was doing what she thought was being asked of her since she wasn't one hundred percent sure as it was too much to take in for someone her age at once. It was when she was called a deputy little mantis magic knight intern that she kind of understood that right now she had to stand up to the darkness much like a magic knight would even though she was scared as seen by her previously shaking hands but she managed to steady herself and nod. They were going to protect her and her home and it was her duty too to try and protect them and her home in return, she knew she couldn't do much because she still didn't have a grimoire but she would try her best as that was all she and anyone else could do in this situation. Her back was to the Blue Roses mage so she again didn't see the ether sparks that had been sent towards one of the other citizens and striking them thus knocking them out causing them to fall to the ground. That was two but there was four more to go.
As the little girl had been distracted by Genesis and the mage that she was currently standing by that she didn't even realise that Artemis had instructed Genesis to keep her safe or that she had ordered the group to knock the citizens out with their weakest spells because the daemons had done something to them and it was far different than what she herself had been though due to them. She had missed the creation of the water whips and their masterful use to go around one of the infected citizen's neck causing them just enough of a trauma that they were knocked out and slumped to the floor due to the injury. That was now three out of the six infected citizens now taken care of but those inside the apparently damaged home had no idea of the order as they hadn't been close enough due to the reduced hearing that had been impacted upon the team. Within seconds, however, Artemis was near the second group giving them information they hadn't really known fully. They all knew something was wrong they could feel the heaviness of the air and the reduction of their speeds, she told them that they had been infected by the daemon and that they should use single spells only and they should be the weakest ones they have as only to knock them out and not kill them. It honestly wouldn't be a good look for anyone if they ended up murdering innocent civilians trying to defeat daemon spawn after all.
Before Artemis had turned up they trio inside the apparent crumbling building had all came to the same conclusion, something wasn't right about the building. Hans and Valo both a bit more in tune with the surrounding area both realised the same thing, they had entered a mana zone but couldn't really tell much more than that. The three felt the pressure but it seemingly didn't phase them as they noticed the civilians coming towards them acting strangely after they tried to get them to leave. It was then with the look inside their almost feral dead eyes and Artemis's information everything seemingly clicked into place and the trio jamp into action. Hans was the first that seemed to take the offensive against the internal building enemies creating a darkened aura around his hands only to form a chain from it and have it wrap around the citizen's leg making it slower which was successful due to their own slowness before rushing forward and hitting the civilian in the gut but not before they had put a pure aura, aura around their fist and landed a blow no Hans at the last second as he was running towards them and so would have been at point-blank range. This would be their one and only hit however as Hans quickly knocked them out with a punch to the gut before following it up with an elbow to the nose. Strangely a sickening crunch could be heard from the second strike Hans had landed on the man.
The second person to leap into action was the mage from the black bulls who had seemingly the same idea as Hans had, as his grimoire floated beside him he stated the spells name and before the civilian could even move he was bound by a thick silver thread, again this was successful and the citizen seemed to be slowed and confused for a moment but that moment of confusion is all it would take for Charles to gain the upper hand, he landed his first strike to the gut but like Hans when he had used his elbow on the woman's back a sickening crunch could be heard. The last person to act was Valo, it was, of course, to be expected as he grew up around these people and so would be a bit more hesitant in attacking them. He had noticed more than anyone inside that this wasn't right to the point the gazes of these people made him uncomfortable. It wasn't that hard for Valo to realise that he had been slowed and had a way to combat against it by casting a second spell to improve his speed making him not twice as fast as he originally was but it was enough to negate the effect and make him slightly faster than he normally was. The quick single hit was more than enough to knock the man out before falling onto his arm.
It was then it happened, the true enemy started to show their faces as they escaped through the mouth, nose and eyes of the civilians, leaving the group to deal with six shadow mana beasts that had now formed by their former hosts making the little girl in the graveyard scream, something that they all would have heard regardless of how far they were from her.
Story:
You have knocked out the six citizens afterwards there was a scream heard from the little girl, it would be in this instant you would understand why that would be, Hans and Charles more so than the others as the citizens they knocked out had their illusions dropped and what would be left were decaying remains that would have come from the graveyard. Valo would recognise the person in his arms as someone he once knew and likely respected but none would have a moments peace and Valo wouldn't have his moment to reflect as the shadowed mana beasts were now on the attack and looking for blood.
Those inside the mana zone with find it harder to fight these enemies with your eyesight so limited and with them almost blending into the shadow and will be tougher to defeat while inside the mana zone.
Hans also takes Junior rank damage from the hit he received from the citizen
Artemis would close her eyes, getting a feel of the area as she found herself the recipient of a small burst of mana. To her left? No. Right side. She would open her eyes, only to find herself looking at Undine, her figure more of a haze than anything. She looked beleaguered, yet still powerful in her own right. And the look she was sending Artemis spoke of just how irritated she was.[break][break]
“I leave you for a few days, and you get yourself in this mess.” Undine would shake her head, though she could feel that her mana was still recovering. “Child, what is all of this?”[break][break]
The Vice Captain of the Green Mantis Squad shook her head, “Daemons decided to finally launch an offensive, something that had been unexpected.” Artemis knew that it was something that had been at the back of all the Magic Knights’ mind ever since the incident within the Witches’ Forest. The deaths of countless Magic Knights is something that is never forgotten, and always left a scar on the survivors. “And it seems that I had been in the wrong place at the right time.”[break][break]
Undine nodded. She had heard of Daemons before, something that is almost kin to the Calamity, yet more destructive, and even more malicious. “So it is a Daemon’s magic that was blocking me from getting to you. How quaint indeed.” The water spirit would look around, though weakened, she can still be an extra pair of eyes for her charge. “The barrier that kept this town had drained most of my mana, and it’s taking quite a bit just to be visible to you.” She would sigh, “Though I am here as your extra pair of eyes and as an advisor, as a spirit ought to be for her charge.”[break][break]
Artemis felt a calmness she did not know she longed for. The presence of Undine’s mana right beside her gave her a sense of peace, if only for a fraction of a minute. After gaining her allegiance and patronage within Atlantis, Undine had been a mentor for her, teaching her how to control water at a greater capacity. In the short time that they had been together, Artemis knew that it would be debilitating to not have the Great Spirit by her side as her champion.[break][break]
“Mana beasts, child. I suggest you weaken every single one of them, while you stay here in the middle to be the eyes for everyone else. I am guessing that they are all adept enough to handle them when they are weakened.”[break][break]
The plan was sound. Artemis knew that her companions were strong enough to handle their own, but weakening the mana beasts should be a boon on their side, expediting this whole mess as they finally get their chance at destroying these so-called wells that is keeping this whole town trapped.[break][break]
“Purgatorio.”[break][break]
The area of effect spell would be sent straight towards the shadow mana beasts that was with Seren, Genesis, and the little girl. It’s spell effects would not affect the three, while the three mana beasts would not only be subjected by an illusion that would make them think they are being attacked by phantoms, but they would also take damage as long as they remain within the area of effect.[break][break]
“Aphrodite.”[break][break]
A water made bow would materialize in Artemis’ hand. With quick successive shots, Artemis took aim at the three mana beasts that she felt through her sensory. The arrows would be homing, their intended targets would be their prize while they weaved in and out of obstructions. The arrows, however, were aimed through one of the windows at the floor where the mana beasts were located, for easier access.[break][break]
Artemis would then speak out loud, “My spells are intended to weaken the mana beasts! Destroy them when you get the chance!” She would stay at the midpoint, the scout of the group as she trained her eyes around the area, while using her natural sensory awareness to keep track of everything that was happening. They would not be caught off-guard. Not again. [break][break]

[break][break] TL;DR Artemis still has War-maiden: Lady Sif, and two other spells. Undine was able to break through and get to Artemis, but she is weakened and can only advise Artemis. Artemis then used Purgatorio to weaken the three outside mana beasts, while using her Aphrodite arrows to home in and weaken the other three inside the building. [break][break] Spells Used:

Her flight speed is at-rank 40 m/s following Transformation rules. “Nihoooow~~~ I know I told you to keep talking but that was very very bad for my witch heart and ears niho~~~ I know this because I am wise~”
Seren glanced behind her at the little mantis with tears in corners of her eyes. The girl seemed okay, physically, so... what was it?
“Is your spooky meter maxed niho~? Like delayed fright niho~?”
Seren looked from the girl to all all around her…
“Ah~ zombies niho~ well that’s good bad news~”
Seren closed one eye as she tilted her head in thought. Between her own sensory and her brooms’ she was pretty sure she had a bead on her enemies, Artemis’ support fire further served to calibrate the witch’s aim. And so, after aligning her trajectories, Seren rotated her repertoire into a stronger spell.
Taking a deep breath, the witch looked over her shoulder at the little mantis.
“Okaaaaaay~! This is a pretty bad first day~ niho~ but hey~ it isn’t a first~! I once heard of a very very unlucky magic knight named Leon who went through something very very similar~ niho~ and now he’s a top class magic knight~ really~ one could say that the more traumatic one’s first day is~ the better niho~ because the rest of your life is just coasting downhill from here~~~~ anyways~ what i’m trying to say is~ the worse it is the better it gets~ niho~”
Seren nodded.
“Lesson 2 is a simple one~ niho~ and probably the most important little mantis~ ~~~and you are a little mantis silly~ I’m never wrong~~~~ niho~ Lesson 2 isssss~ protect your face~ niho~”
Seren nodded again.
“All fighty fighty times start with the protecting of the face~ niho~”
Seren gently manipulated the broom in the girl’s hands.
“Wiggle to the left~ wiggle to the right~ strike~ strike~ annnnd~ protect the face~ niho~”
Seren chuckled.
“Now where was I~ ah right~ niho~ Ether Cannon Magic~ Ether Spark~!”
The spell was of similar make to the one from last round, but even the most sensory deprived of individuals would be able to tell that it was a stronger version. Blue green orbs began to circulate round and round the witch’s right arm, her eyes darting to and fro like cat clock’s.
Create a matrix niho~ follow it in an outward spiral~ imagine the most effective angles~ account for a counterattack~ I needn’t be the eye of the storm~
The Witch would raise her voice.
“Haaaaay~ Merci~! ~Niho~! I’ll lay some covering fire~ so eliminate the one closest to you when you have the opening~!!! Here goes~!”
The orbs elongated like rubber bands and seemed to propel themselves off of themselves becoming thick beams. Three streaks were fired, one at each of the shadow adversaries Seren had identified in the area, and the fourth shell, the witch held in reserve as it continued to circulate. Should they strike they would clock in at intermediate damage at base.
Seren then turned her focus to the two beasts closest to her and furthest from Genesis, and launched one broom each under the shadow of the earlier shots. Should those brooms hit, they too would register for intermediate damage at base and attempt a knockback of 9 meters.
Not knowing the physiology of these creatures, ultimately, Seren had opted to aim at each of the 3's respective centers of mass for accuracy.
“Are you still there little mantis~? Don’t let go of that broom niho~”
Seren glanced behind her with a smile, and nudged the child closer behind her. Then, the witch began to sing…
A lost witch~ must go on further~ Proud of my~ witch's wonder~ Flight~ fight~ I'm a little bruised and battered~ Oh mom~ I'm coming home to you~
Day rise~ just a little colder~ Pull my hat~ just a little lower~ Broom life's made me~ a little bolder~ Oh mom~ don't know what I'm gonna do~
I see my messed hair, messed bed, tear shed, home out of reach~ New smells~ new tells~ new spells~ Knocks me on my knees~ Ice cream, candy, cake, and~ sleep on a tree~ Countdown~ three rounds~ hot chocolate with~ good company~
A lost witch~ must go on further~ Proud of my~ witch's wonder~ Flight~ fight~ I'm a little bruised and battered~ Oh mom~ I'm coming home to you~ Niho~ I'm coming home to you~

"People will forgive you. Everyone deserves another chance if it's an accident besides, the bad people are far worse so no matter if you were naughty you are not the worst naughty person in Kikka."
The redhead gave the little girl a slight smile and squeezed the small hand in return. If only things were that easy. Unfortunately, certain things in the world were not as black and white...though it would be nice if it was so. However, she did nod at what the little girl continued on to say about remaining calm in chaotic situations. It seemed like everyone knew about her glaring weaknesses, and was nice enough to point it out to her. “You’re smart, too.” She bopped the child on the nose before allowing her to go back to the healer. Thankfully, those young eyes did not witness the brutal way the group knocked those civilians out, otherwise she would have misunderstood...or worse.
And the physical pain.
What a relief.
Genesis exhaled slowly and relaxed her fists. Amazing what punching the guy did for her. Feeling the sharp pain of the connecting hits had done wonders in bringing her back to reality. It certainly worked off some of that edge she had been carrying around. She glanced down at her knuckles, dark bruises starting to form on both hands. It would take a few days for the discoloration to go away, but she was hardly concerned about that. Her form had been far from perfect, but the strange man was down, and that was all that mattered.
She exhaled again. It seemed like the Blue Rose knight had the other citizen under control. Under control, as knocked out. As she turned to go, she heard something from behind her, and turned to look. Her eyes grew wide when she beheld a shadowy form emerging from the unconscious man.
Of course. The enemy would not have made things so simple and easy. What was it that he said to her before? "Don't always trust your senses, question everything and don't jump in blind if you want to survive." Grey-green eyes narrowed. Well, it almost sounded like a challenge as much as a piece of advice. Then she heard a powerful spell whizzing by her, and looked up to see the Blue Rose knight, damaging the three mana beasts that had come out of their unconscious hosts. Another spell was cast, again from the healer, and it seemed to wipe out the two shadowy forms furthest from her. She was a healer, yet still had such powerful attacks...
‘Merci’? ‘Thank you’? For what? Realization dawned on her, and for the first time, Gen let a tiny smile, a small quirk of amusement. Names were unimportant though, however. They never had a proper introduction, and unlikely to do so until this was all over. Since her back was to the speaker, the young woman raised a hand, indicating that she heard the call.
As she brought her hands down, she grabbed onto nearby shadows, forming them into a pair of knives on either hand from her Couteaux spell. She jumped towards the mana beast closest to her, who also leapt to meet her in the air. It was an ugly beast, wavering between form and shadows, all the while exhibiting its dark mana.
Her right hand thrust forward and to the side, meeting and slashing at one of its outstretched front legs. She immediately twisted to her right side, barely dodging the other sharp claws. Barely. It grazed the top of her left shoulder, leaving a thin trail of blood. Her blood. It stung, but she did not look at it. Ah, so it was using its shadows to blend in, making it harder for her to pinpoint its exact movements. Well, why couldn’t she do the same? The red-haired mage let some of her mana out, making her visage slightly marred and smokey, hopefully making her exact movements a bit more blurred to the demonic predator.
It had growled, feeling the sting of her blade. But the first strike had only wounded it, provoking it. The shadow beast quickly twisted its body around and came back for another strike, its eyes glowing with a killer’s intent. The same look as what the civilian had earlier. She crouched down, and when it leapt again, she was ready. The lithe form burst into a run, aiming to slash at the beast from its underside in midair. Then she would drop to the ground and roll to the side, missing its hind legs. She jumped back up to her feet again, and hopefully the creature would be down on its knees now. Before it could twist and face her again, she would aim to leap on its back, bringing both knives down. One on the back of its neck, one from the side, aiming for its lungs...if it had any.
It was a good thing that the blue knight had crippled the beast from before, otherwise her mere blades would do very little damage to it. As the beast reared, Genesis leapt off its back and away from the crumbling body. It seemed to be down for good. Thank goodness.
The young woman’s breaths came out in short pants, and now she felt the full sting from the slice on her shoulder. However, her mind was elsewhere. The first thing she had thought was about the little girl, praying that she did not witness all the ugly brutality and gore. Hopefully her shadow-filled battle looked hazy and unclear to any possible onlookers. Hopefully.
