“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
Despite that blow to the gut, the possessed citizen Hans was trying to take care of managed to sneak a punch in return, coated in pure aura! The attack struck Hans in the face, but thanks to the defensive spell he has up, only the armor of darkness he wore had received damage which was enough to leave some cracks on the helmet area. With that, Hans still managed to elbow the poor citizen in the nose, rendering them unconscious. It seems that Charles and Valo were also able to hold their own. Hopefully things were going well outside of this...odd building. As he caught the citizen's falling body, Hans dispersed his restraint spell from around their leg and looked down at the persons face.
"What the..."
The merc's eyes widened as he stared at the face in shock. It no longer looked like a lively possessed person anymore...but a corpse, one with a broken in nose. Then something started to float out of the corpse's eyes, and mouth, an ominous black smoke which caused Hans to immediately throw the body to the ground. This was definitely the source of what reanimated this apparent corpse, and the dark mage did not want it to try and make him its next host. With sword drawn, Hans started to calmly back up in the direction of where he sensed Valo and Charles' mana signatures, all while keeping an eye on the...shadowy abomination that took shape. But the dark mage's vision was starting to fail him, and the heaviness of this area was starting to mess with his movement.
The shadowy creature started to dark around, sinking into shadows like a phantom, a pure illusion. Maybe it was an illusion? Who knows anymore...
"This is bad..." Hans claimed with heavy breathes, and if he was close enough to the other two guys they would hear him as well. "We need to get out of here." he'd add while his eyes darted around desperately for this creature, and assuming the other two that slipped out of their hosts. But of course, they couldn't just run out as they needed to stay alert around these phantoms. This was just another ruse conjured up from that damned daemon. Those citizens...nothing but broken bodies that were being used as puppets. Disrespectful towards the dead, but of course these Daemons didn't care.
Hans then shut his eyes, trying to get a sense of these monster's mana. Even though his sensory wasn't the greatest, it would prove to serve better than his other senses. He would then sense something, not the two magic knights...and not the mana beasts either...
It was a spell cast by that vice captain! Three arrows crafted of water made their way into the building, each of them striking at the mana beasts, and taking them out of their hiding spots! Hans was able to open his eyes just in time to witness one of them getting attacked, and heard the water mage's yell. "Understood." Hans nodded, his tone not matching the woman's so she most likely would not have heard him. "We need to stay close." The silver blade of the merc's sword grew dark, being coated in his magic as dark smoke seeped from his body and weapon. "Cover our blind spots." Assuming that the mana beast that Hans managed to see was still trying to recover from Artemis' attack, Hans would horizontally swing his sword! "Flying Chaos Slash!" A sharp wave of darkness would fire from the blade, and if it made contact it would deal intermediate damage to the beast, hopefully ending it by slicing it clean in half.
After that, the merc's breathing would grow heavy as he fell to one knee, and dug the tip of his sword into the surface, holding onto the handle with one hand. The longer he stayed in this "Mana Zone" the more the pressure was getting to him. "W-Agh...We...n-need to...go..."

Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
Valo stopped the person he knocked from falling, by holding out his arm and letting them drop onto it. He kept his eyes on them though, he didn't really know what kind of shadow or parasite took over them so he stayed on his guard. There was no more room for error or mistakes anymore, they made to many of those already. "Hey? You good?" he started to ask the now knocked out civilian, he started to flick them on the forehead in attempt to wake them up. It was then he actually started to recognize the face of the civilian. "Mr. Fong?" he asked quietly to himself, Valo knew this man quite well actually. And his look of concern started to grow, another innocent person he knew wrapped up in all of this madness.
Mr. Fong was a towns guard, who was always trying to teach Valo the values of right and wrong when he was young. Of course the rowdy, and rebellious Valo never listened and got into some deep trouble anyway. But Mr. Fong never stoped trying to get through to him, even on his worst days. It was like the man always believed in Valo, from the start even when he barely knew him. "Mr.Fon-?" Valo started to say with more concern in his voice, but he was caught off when a trail of shadows started to pour from Mr.Fong's mouth, eyes, and nose. What also cut him off was a loud scream that sounded like it came from Nanami from outside the building, it was trouble and Valo's eyes widened at the thought of the young girl getting hurt. "Nanami!?" What looked like black smoke that started to form together, and create some sort of creature. Valo was given little to no time to reflect, all he knew was that he now had to face a new threat the true threat.
Of course anger started to swell up inside the fire mage, even more now. So much innocent life being taken, and now their bodies being disrespected and used for this Daemon's amusement. The shadow like monster started to blend in with the darkness around it, Valo commanded his three Hi No Tori golems to encircle him closer planning on using them as shields for any surprise attacks. It was hard to see already, so trying to fight shadow like mana beasts in a dark mana zone was going to be a challenge. Valo had trouble getting a good eye on the other two that entered the building, but he could vaguely sense their mana around him. He heard the swordsman call out stating they needed to get out of this place, and Valo agreed with him. Valo never dropped the corpse of Mr. Fong on the ground, he still held onto it. It was a dead body, but a dead body of someone Valo respected and valued he wasn't going to leave his corpse here like this. He wouldn't do it, and he dared anyone to tell him otherwise. He wanted to give Mr. Fong a proper burial like he deserved. He Gently dropped the body to the ground, careful enough to not damage it. If anything tried to attack him, his golems would take the attack first alerting him. "I'll give you a proper burial Mr. Fong...Thank You." he said to the corpse.
It was right after that, Valo saw three arrows come flying into the building and hitting each of the shadow beasts dead on. It was the arrows of his vice captain Artemis! She never failed to amaze him honestly. Even from outside the zone, she was able to strike and weaken the beasts. Truly a powerful companion and leader. But now was the time to capitalize on the attack, when the arrow hit the shadow monster closest to Valo he wasted no time firing off an attack of his own. He commanded the golem placed directly in front of him to take flight. "Niji Tenka!" he shouted while doing a roundhouse kick with his right leg, releasing a blazing arc of flame towards the mana beast. Hopefully if it hit, it should do enough damage to kill the creature and burn it. Valo grabbed the lifeless body of Mr. Fong and swung it over his left shoulder, he intended to keep his promise.
Sensing the mana of the other two that were in this place with him, he started to back up towards them. "You're right we should cover each other's backs. You dark blade guy, whats your name?" he asked the swordsman. If he was going to work together with this guy, he wanted to have his name. He still didn't entirely sit right with the fire mage, but for now they needed to work together to get out of this. But as the time passed, Valo found it harder to breathe they needed to leave this place quickly.

Charles took a step back from the civilian he knocked out with his guard up. He felt like his movement was slower and it was harder to breathe. Perhaps what they said before was true, the building inside was a mana zone which made this place more dangerous than the rest. After all this time the Daemons finally decided to begin their offensive in this game of chess, but those mana beasts were merely just pawns to the Daemon. He was annoyed about it, using civilians are pawns, possessing them to obtain their objective, but the young magic knight knew that if he didn't do anything about it, he might end up becoming just another pawn and get possessed. [break][break] It appeared that he wasn't the only one who figured out the people inside the building were possessed. Both Hans and Valo found out they were possessed and it seemed like one of the civilians Valo knocked out was someone he knew previously. Valo appeared to be from the town of Kikka and using his attachments to the civilians here could possibly be used against him. The Daemon they were going against was manipulative and this wasn't going to be the last time he was going to try to manipulate them. The area was becoming dark and darker. The darkness made it hard to spot the mana beasts who already seemed to have some sort of dark aura around them. "Tch... What a pain in the ass. [break][break] Suddenly Charles saw three water arrows go into the building, the mana signature and form of the arrows were surprisingly familiar. He then will confirm who the person who shot those arrows was, it was Vice-Captain Artemis who was able to tell they were enemies inside. Silver Magic: Silver Spike!" He said as he stomped the ground, as a silver spike will appear that was headed towards the general direction of the mana beast. It was his chance now to attack and make good use of the Vice-Captain's opening. After the attack, the silver mage took a few steps back to meet up with the other two mages. Hans had a point, they were better off together and blocking off their openings, especially with the lack of vision they had. "Y-Yeah..." It was harder to breathe, the mana zone provided a significant advantage to the enemy. The longer they stayed there the higher was the chance for the enemy to win. "Hold yourself, Hans we will get out of here soon... The lazy Black Bull tried to give some words of encouragement to the dark mercenary he previously met. "Silver Magic: Silver String Bindings..." Once again he aimed towards the general direction of the mana beast in an attempt to debuff its speed, he didn't know how fast it was and when or how it was going to attack. It was getting harder and harder to breathe, the Black Bull attempt to hold his ground while he breathed heavily. "Let's move slowly and keep our guard up, if we play it safe we will be able to make it out..." Charles advised the other two mages to move to start moving slowly while maintaining their guard up. Even he had a poor sensory ability, he might able to hear the mana beast approaching if they emitted any sort of noise. If they were lucky they could buy enough time for Vice-Captain Artemis to help them out with another attack if she didn't have her hands busy, but he or the group couldn't always depend on her. In the event, she was unable to provide the assistance they will need to get a bit more creative about their next course of action. [break][break]

The little girl looked up to the sagely witch and tilted her head unsure why what she said was bad and it was all over her face, she didn't see herself as any type of mantis, she was still a little girl so couldn't be a magic knight nor was she a bug so it was very confusing why the other had originally called her such until she had an epiphany as to why she had been called it. When she was spoken to by the Blue Roses mage she shook her head tears still falling as she pointed to the corpse that had the shadowed mana beast escaping from it. "It's not a zombie, it's a mana beast..." she managed to say holding onto the broom tighter than before her small knuckles going white due to it. The first spell was effective against the three within the graveyard itself which was shown as they started to thrash and fight against the apparent enemy. Within each of their hands differing weapons made of pure aura seemed to appear in the hopes to fight off the ones attacking them. The little girl couldn't help but bite her lip and look up to the one she was currently in the care of, due to her young age she was scared and it was fully visible in more ways than one. She needed the reassurance that everything was going to be alright and this wasn't going to end up with her being eaten by one of the corpse monsters. She listened as she was told that this was just a bad first day but that there was a magic knight that had it far worse and because of it he's now a strong magic knight. This gave her hope that because she was going through such trial now she would get strong too and that it could only get better from then on. She nodded and looked around seeing if there was something that she could do.
"Fish lady!" she said pointing towards Undine, the strangest thing would be that no one else in the area would be able to see the spirit other than her current companion. It would easy to believe that it was just an imaginary friend of the girl as she was still at that point of her life or even that it was her way of coping with the stress of the situations she had found herself in that day. It was then she was pulled back to the one near her as she heard she was getting taught a second lesson and so paid as much attention as she could given the circumstances. She brought the broom up to her face as if to protect it but now she couldn't see through it, this was going to be difficult for her but she was sure she could learn such things as she grew up. It was then she felt the broom moving as the mage who gave her it started saying wiggle to the left and wiggle to the left making her giggle happily after she realised that it was her doing it, watching as she would strike twice and then protect her face again making her giggle a little more. It was what the child needed to forget everything she was going through right now, she had seen more darkness in this day than most would likely see in their entire lifetime and it was going to shape her future just at this moment it would be hard to know in which direction. She was trying to mimic what she had just been shown and so wasn't paying attention to what was going on around her which might have been for the best. That was until she felt the magic in the area perk and seen what she thought was a pretty light show and so clapped her hands giggling happily not paying attention to what it was actually doing just that it was bright and colourful.
Two of the three mana beasts that had been hit seemed to slump to the ground as they were hit head-on by both the mages spell and her brooms, leaving a single one still aiming for the red-headed civilian. Hearing the cries of the other two mana beasts the third seems to become enraged and has now dashed towards Genesis not caring about anything else that might be attacking it. As she slashed towards her it seemed to counter her and attempt to push her back, even if she was pushed back the twirling slash she had made wouldn't be anywhere near the mana beast if she hadn't been pushed back it would reflect the sword and duck swiping for the woman's leg. It would seem as if this one was more adept at fighting than the last two had been and wasn't prepared to go down without a fight. The next strike she made did connect making the beast howled in pain but it was still on its feet and wasn't showing any signs of slowing. When she crouched it took a few paces back but it was clearly on guard watching and preparing for what the other was about to do, it waited until she burst into a run holding its ground until the very last moment when it sidestepped and slashed at her back attempting to slice down it whether it did or didn't it wouldn't be fast enough to get a strike in as she had dropped to the ground and slashed for its legs slowing it and making it stagger a bit but it still wasn't brought down to its knees. This, however, didn't stop her from pouncing on its back dealing the final blow as her daggers sank deep into the spinal collum and left-hand side of the beast, with its size, weight, how it was stumbling and her own weight it fell backwards onto her before she could jump off trapping her underneath it dead carcass.
While all this was happening on the outside the leader of the group had released a second spell right into the mana zone, it had been rebuffed but it was still strong enough and accurate enough to not only hit all three mana beasts but seriously wound them to the point had they been outside of the mana zone then they would have been destroyed in a single hit of the water arrows. As they were hit they all released a blood-curdling screech of pain which would have come out loud and clear to not only those inside the mana zone but those outside of it, there was now a possibility that there were any others like it in the area they would be making their way to the site to defeat their enemies. The first to take the offensive was the darkness mage who had backed away towards the others that entered the trap so they could come up with some sort of plan to deal with the enemy they could see, his breathing like the others was still heavy of course. His blade soon be coated in his element and when the slash was released he would find it moving faster than is normally possible for an element like his but also seemed to be stronger; could it be that the mana zone was actually buffing his own element? As the beast was still in pain and a distance away it couldn't dodge the hit or strike back to prevent it so was hit for a second time full-on and dropped in two pieces the instant the spell hit it though its glowing eyes were still blinking as the brain hadn't quite caught up with what had happened to it.
The next person to see what happened would be Valo, but he recognised the man as one of the guards that had tried to be a mentor to the youth and tell him he was meant for more than a petty thug. Mr Fong had attempted to teach him right from wrong and help him understand why a life of crime wouldn't be the best one for him and the potential outcomes people that have that life meet. Valo, of course, was a rebellious teen and didn't want to hear the wisdom of the man he now held in his arms believing that he knew what was best for him and that no one would be able to defeat him. It hadn't stopped the man from trying to help the youth see sense and had even been proud when the young Valo had told him he was going to take the magic knight exams and change his life around so he could make a difference for the better. It was a normal reaction for the green mantis to feel anger swelling up not only for his home town, the dead but those whom he had grown to respect. Even with the three golems flying around him it barely gave any light so little help on seeing where the mana beasts had been, the arrow had hit the one closest to him, he carefully allowed the body of Mr Fong to fall to the ground but in such a way that no damage would happen to the course nor any disrespect caused to it. Before the shadowed mana beast could get its bearings after being hit, it and its friend were being hit by Valo's arc of fire which hit them both square on, setting them and the building on fire. The first mana beast fell to the ground soon after screaming in agony at being burned alive before the fire mage picked up the corpse of Mr Fong and put him over his left shoulder before talking to the mercenary that was in the current trio.
The third still on fire ran directly towards the silver mage, it was in agony and afraid, it would do anything it could to survive and that made it that much more deadly as it had nothing left to lose. The silver mage was still quicker as he seemed to work in tandem with Valo so the spells seemingly hit their targets near the same time, without much effort the flaming mana beast was impaled on silver spikes. Due to one of the spikes seemingly coming through its throat no sound came from the mana beast as it died. It was silent now except the dull crackles of the building that was on fire due to Valo's attack. With that, the enemies destroyed the mana zone seemed to end and what was left was a building burning the pressure on the trio would be lifted and their breathing seeming to be eased except from the black smoke. It had seemed however that the winds of fate were changing for the group as a downpour of torrential rain seemed to roll in which was taking care of the flames allowing the group to meet up again.
It was then an all to familiar voice was heard through the shadows "Well that was reckless of you wasn't it..." it was Sven almost taunting Valo for the property damage "What happens if there were actually people inside that building?" he asked mocking the green mantis, a chuckle heard in his voice though it came to an abrupt end. "Enough of that however I have a question to the one who is baring my bracelet." he seemed quite happy as he turned his attention towards the leader of the group "Aren't you sick and tired of babysitting these children?" he asked with a genuine tone "I'm getting bored so I've decided to make things more interesting. You have a single day to defeat myself, my children and destroy the five wells you are aware of or I will blow the town up." he said his tone showing he was serious with what he was saying and would follow through with it "There is an easy solution for this puzzle but I suggest the children you are babysitting take the one they are babysitting home." he said calmly "Oh and be careful as you move around the town... there are surprises awaiting you." he said chuckling before going quiet allowing the group to take in the challenge and information they have been given by the archdaemon.
Story:
The group managed to take out the enemy but in doing so they set a building on fire, luckily it started to downpour right at that time which is quickly taming the flames and given the enemy the citizens would be understanding about the property damage done by the group. Valo has Mr Fong and is able to find a place to put him before Sven starts speaking to the group by starting to taunt and mock the teen before asking Artemis a question. It is then he gives an ultimatum the group has twenty-four hours to not only defeat him but Ito and Lilitu while also having to destroy the five wells or he would blow the town up. He also suggests taking the child with them back to her parents and to watch out because there were traps littering the place before once again falling silent.
Hans spells speed has increased by 25% and has also gained +6 power to them for the remainder of the thread. Genesis has taken intermediate and Junior damage. (Intermediate from the slash she took and Jr from the mana beast falling on her.)
Artemis watched the result of their fight. [break][break]
Recklessness. Utter and complete tomfoolery. Artemis shook her head as the building started to go up in flames, and was about to move towards it, hoping to douse the flames with one of her less destructive water spells, yet it was unneeded. It seems as though Mother Nature was at least looking out for them at this point. Rain. It was the last thing Artemis thought would happen today. Yet, while it was a downer for some people. Rain always invigorated Artemis. There was something about water that just gave her a form of inner strength. A familiarity. A close bond. [break][break]
“Child, something is coming.” Undine would warn her young charge, as she glanced at the little girl that seemed to be able to see her for some reason. The spirit would nod, before turning her attention towards where the spirit felt what seemed to be a manifestation of sorts. [break][break]
Artemis herself would turn. She would hear the voice first, before seeing the figure that robbed her of a portion of her sensory skills. [break][break]
Mockery. [break][break]
The Daemon came here to bring down their morale. To dampen their already beaten up spirit. Yet, Artemis would listen. There was always some form of information that she could glean from a person’s speech, and the same can be said about this Daemon. There was always something, a little piece of information, something that could help them.[break][break]
A time limit.[break][break]
When the Daemon disappeared once more, Artemis turned to the group. She would float down, her mind running a thousand miles a minute. A time limit. They needed to be quick. They needed to be more efficient. Divide and conquer? Yes, that would be their option. There were two obstacles to win, however. The wells and the Daemons themselves. The wells and the Daemon’s servants were likely linked together. How could they not be? They were the ones doing the ground work, while their leader gloats and observes. But, where was this Daemon, the leader located.[break][break]
“....the church.”[break][break]
Artemis turned to Valo, eyes hard as steel as she asked, “Which direction to the church?”[break][break]
When Valo responds, Artemis would cease all of her spells save her Transformation, before casting her Moonsong to her hand once more. She would look around before starting, “We are on a time limit. The Daemon expects us to divide and conquer.” Pausing for a moment, she would glance at the young girl that they had saved, “And while it might be playing to the Daemon’s plans, it is inevitable. We will not have enough time to stick together as a group. Instead, I will head towards the Daemon and take the fight to him. The rest of you need to decide to either take the child with you, or take her home. Time is of the essence, however, and we need to destroy those wells as soon as possible.”[break][break]
The Vice Captain of the Green Mantis would kneel in front of the young girl now, giving her a soft smile, “You have been very brave, little one. We will make sure you get home safe and sound, hm?” She would then tenderly lift the young girl’s chin, “I will need you to continue to be brave, okay? Help out my comrades as best as you can, and they will take you home without delay. Keep your chin up and a put on a brave smile, I promise, we will make this right.” [break][break]
Artemis turned to the sky, starting to float upwards. “Do not dally, make a decision and start moving. We have a single day, and that’s it. I will distract the Daemon, kill it when I get the chance. Be safe, and remember that it has its children out and around, possibly attached to the wells.” She paused however, just barely above third floor level to give them one last piece of information, “I sensed a well in that direction,” pointing towards the direction that was opposite the child’s home, “at least, I would start there, and then move according to what the child might be able to tell you all. I leave everything on the ground to you five.”[break][break]
Reaching the zenith of just above the buildings, Artemis would fly straight towards the direction of the church itself. She was just high enough to see the church’s steeple, a feature that all the churches shared around the Clover Kingdom. She would use her sensory skills, trying to map and avoid the traps that she might encounter along the way. Her Ki as well would play a part in this, keeping both at the ready as she made her way to confront this abomination of mana. Undine, for her part, stayed quiet. She would follow her young charge, trusting in her decision to take the fight to the leader of this whole mess.

[break][break] TL;DR Artemis has War-maiden: Lady Sif, and used Moonsong. She separated from the group, heading towards the church where Valo pointed, while leaving the wells to the group. Divide and conquer. [break][break] Spells Used:
Name of Spell: War-maiden: Lady Sif[break] Elemental Type: Water[break] Rank & Spell Type: Grand | Physical Reinforcement & Transformation[break] Range & Speed: Self | 40 m/s[break] Mana Cost: 50 | 25[break] Stats Effected: +30 m/s[break] Applicable Perks: Full Blitz, Predator's Mutation[break] Description: Calling upon the mythological war-maidens, Artemis conjures water and surrounds her whole body, transforming her into the visage of an mythological warrior. Her whole appearance changes, hair turning into fully blonde, her clothes replaced by warrior-garb made of silk and iron, with the most prominent feature of the transformation being the two feather wings on her back. This transformation allows Artemis flight, and the combination of both Physical Reinforcement to the Transformation allows her to move at a faster speed than normal. Her flight speed is at-rank 40 m/s following Transformation rules. Growing 35 inches in size, Artemis is able to carry at maximum 5 people on her wings and back, though why she would do that, she did not know. The spell allows Artemis to weave in and out of combat, unhindered by ground speed. [break]
Name of Spell: Moonsong[break] Elemental Type: Water[break] Rank & Spell Type: Grand | Attack Creation & Physical Reinforcement[break] Range & Speed: 150 meters | 85 m/s | 115 m AOE[break] Mana Cost: 50 | 25[break] Stats Effected: +30 m/s, Blinds[break] Applicable Perks: Area of Triumph, Quick Shot, Full Blitz, Apex Predator[break] Description: A manifestation of a stronger mana, the bow is made to be the successor in power and speed of Aphrodite. The bow itself is made with water, though its wings are as sharp as a sword's blade. The bow is used in long ranged combat, the wings of the bow, however, can be used as pseudo blades. A manifestation of Artemis' mana, the string only shows when she makes a "pull-back" motion of drawing and aiming. This makes the bow into a pseudo double-bladed short spear when needed for close quarter combat. The bow itself can shoot more than one arrow, following ammo rules. The arrows can either pierce through enemies, or be used as an AOE attack by letting it burst in a shower of sharp dagger like water droplets, causing Grand level damage. At first hit, opponents are blinded by the water that hits their eyes. The blind effect only happens once per opponent. The bow also increases the speed of the user.[break]

The red-haired woman thought she was able to get away from the falling body, but it seemed like she miscalculated. The mana beast fell backwards before she could jump away from it, and its entire body fell on her, pinning her lower half body to the ground and dealing more damage to her mana skin. “Oomph!” She grunted, the fall momentarily knocking her breath out. She may have killed this creature, but she had not escaped unscathed or unmarked. Its blood had also splattered all over her, giving the red-haired mage a fearsome look indeed.
“So freakin’ heavy...” This carcass was surprisingly heavy as well, even though it was made out of shadows. It took her several tries and some intense wiggling to get out from under that dead weight, but she finally did. Her legs felt like it had been smashed somehow, even though no bones seemed to be broken. Nasty bruises were sure to be darkening on her skin, but at least her knuckles and legs would match in color. She got up and stretched it out, wincing in pain when the injury on her shoulder throbbed. She had not been quick enough to dodge its slash earlier, but at least she was still alive.
Then she felt a now-familiar wash of magic, easing the pain on her shoulder and other bodily injuries. Without turning her head, she knew it must be from the broom witch. She really was something, powerful not only in healing, but also in attacking. Why the daemon decided to let her join must have been an oversight on his part. Or perhaps he was just confident enough that he would win...
Burning smell. Ashes flying by. Her head whipped back to where the crumbling building was. Or rather, where the huge fire was. It seemed like her friend had lit it up with his fire magic. It should have been the Eldritch Home, like she had suggested to him before while in the dungeon, but she supposed he was just practicing his bonfire skills. One day, she would convince him to burn that abominable house down. One day. But not today.
The burning seemed to have caught the attention of another. The overwhelming presence of the daemon reached the shadow mage, and she clenched her eyes and fists shut. Breathe in. Breathe out. Repeat. She had to keep her fiery temper in check, especially after the brief adrenaline of battling that mana beast. Then a few drops of rain fell on her. What a stroke of luck. It seemed like nature had decided to douse the fire for them, cooling down the immediate danger and a certain person’s temper. After a few steadying breaths, she trusted herself to turn and look at their enemy, grey-green eyes now cold and calculating.
The monster had finished his speech, and she was still level-headed. That was a small progress. But now it seemed like the daemon was done playing around, and wanted to get down to business. One day, he said. Her jaws clenched. It seemed like the leader of the group was going to take him on, all by herself. She had bent down to talk to the child, then passed along some directions to the group before flying off. Guessed they were now on their own, but her move made sense. She was the only one who could deal with the daemon, after all.
After wiping off the creature’s blood from her as much as possible, she headed over to where she assumed the group had huddled, around the little girl and Valo. The former appeared to be talking to the Green Mantis, and the redhead would hang back. That is, until the knight started sharing what he had been told. Genesis would nod, engraving those three locations and their descriptions into her mind. It would be very helpful, and she only wished she had a paper and pen to write it down.
She was not usually one to take charge, especially since she had committed such a big blunder just now. But since the group seemed to have fallen silent, glaringly lacking without the vice captain, she injected her thoughts. “Splitting up would be the most beneficial. Like the vice captain said, time is ticking, and we need to destroy the wells fast. But first, we should bring her home.” She said, referring to the little girl. She walked over to the child in question and bent down until she was eye-to-eye with her again. “Ready to go home and see your parents?” Assuming the little girl would give her some sort of answer, Genesis would smile and get back up, addressing the group again.
“I can go for the wells. It would be good to have someone escort her home.” Then the shadow mage would walk away from the group, leaving them to decide who would escort the little girl home, or whatever they decided to do with her. As she got her broom ready for the trip to the well, she heard a voice, apparently coming from the Blue Rose knight. It seemed like she would not be going alone. Then she would catch the sight of the dark mage. Somehow, his aura felt more...powerful. Interesting. But now was not the time for studying.
Nodding at the dark mage to acknowledge his presence, the redhead then realized it would probably be helpful if she and the witch exchanged names, at the very least. “Erm, I’m Gen.” She would stick a hand out to the Blue Rose knight, then realizing it was still streaked with blood, pull it back sheepishly and wipe it on her pants, smearing it even more onto the fabric. Looks like she would need a new set of clothes after this.
Hmmm... She caught sight of the broom that the mercenary was carrying, and the broom golems that the knight had… A plan quickly formed in her mind. “The daemon mentioned surprises on the way. I’m guessing flying would be slightly safer.” She already had her magical broom out, and hopped onto it. “Perhaps your brooms can scout along ahead of us? My broom can carry two.” She cocked her head back, indicating the space behind her. “But up to you.” Then she would throw the dark mage the beginnings of a smirk. “Sorry, no guys allowed on my broom. Nothing personal.”
Assuming that the witch had made her decision, Genesis would take off. She would look back to make sure that Hans was also now in the air, and they were off. Steering her broom upwards, the redhead would attempt to fly as high up as possible, while still being able to see the buildings and their current locations despite the heavy smog. She headed towards the direction where the water mage had pointed to earlier, and with any additional instructions that Valo had provided. Extending her ki, she tried to sense out any of those mentioned 'surprises' as best as she could.
The trip to the first well was not easy, perhaps with some scratches and damages, but they made it. The location matched Valo’s description, and there was an overwhelming sense of dark mana. The same type she has been feeling all along, although much stronger. She circled around carefully. “Where would be a good place to land?” She muttered, then chose a spot not too close to the mana source. She did not know what would happen as soon as they landed, but she would be ready. As ready as she could be, anyways.

“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
"Hang on..." Hans mumbled to himself right after he fired his spell at the ghostly mana beast. There was something...different about his spell. His slash traveled much faster than usual, and there was also a certain force behind it now which he was now starting to feel flowing through his body. The pressure from the mana zone was still negatively affecting Hans, but it was also resonating with his mana, strengthening it. The darkness here...It's merging with the mercenary, making him feel dizzy.
'The darkness...the darkness is...here.' Hans repeated in his mind. His thoughts were a bit cloudy as he continued to take deep breaths. It was then he heard the flame mage speak up, that Hans was able to focus some, his blurry vision beginning to focus. "H-Hans..." Breathe in...and out. The merc had already caught the fire mage's name earlier. Valo if he remembers correctly. This is his hometown, and with that, Hans could understand why Valo was so determined and angry. This wasn't just him fulfilling his duties as a Magic Knight, this was personal. If this was Aries Garse...then the roles might've been in reversed.
The dark mage glanced towards Charles who exchanged a few reassuring words to him. Hans gave the silver mage a nod, and started to struggle back up to his feet, using his sword as a way to help him up since it was still dug into the surface. Breathe in...and out. Hans was still holding onto his sword for support, but was now on his feet. This zone was taking a toll on him...until he noticed the flames...
Fire was starting to engulf the building, courtesy of the hotheaded one! Luckily, the fire burned through the mana zone, causing that dreaded pressure to subside. Hans could feel his physical strength coming back to him, and lifted his sword from the ground. He was now throwing a coughing fit as the smoke from the the fire, seeped into the "helmet" of his armor spell! Some debris had started to fall from the ceiling due to the fire! If the three men weren't in danger before, they most certainly are now!
Or, at least that's what Hans thought...
"We need...to.. get out...of-" Before he could finish, a drip of water had landed on Hans' head. After that a few more drops slowly fell and in mere seconds, a downpour has descended onto the land! It made quick work of the growing flames almost like a miracle! Hans looked up surprisingly at the exposed ceiling. "It's...raining?" Was this really rain? How was it able to pass through the barrier? It didn't matter now, especially as a familiar, menacing tone slipped through the rain...
It was that daemon again, Sven...
Hans was once again on high alert, shifting his furrowed eyes, ready to strike if needed. Sven was at it once again, taunting the group, especially Valo. The daemon had a point despite how loathsome it is, had a point. If there were actual civilians in that building, they might've been done for, but it was obvious that the fire mage didn't mean to do this. It was just another mistake which has pretty much been going around now. "Don't let the daemon get to you..." Hans said, looking over to Valo if he was still by him. He probably didn't have to tell the flame mage that, but with all that's going on, it would still probably be nice to hear.
The daemon now spoke to Artemis while also throwing another underhanded insult the group's way. At this point, Hans just wanted this monster to be dealt with, and was not going to continue to entertain his shit talk. As someone who doesn't talk much, Hans feels that its better to settle these sorts of things with action instead of childish insults.
An ultimatum was given and the daemon vanished. Defeat him, his servants, and destroy these wells within twenty-four hours...or the town goes up in flames...
Hans slowly stepped out of the building. He deactivated his defense spell, but there was still a faint dark smoke like aura surrounding him that others would be able to see if they looked close enough. Hans slid his sword back into its sheathe before looking down at his palm, noticing the darkness. That power he felt back in the mana zone...it was still there minus the pressure. He looked quietly back at the building while Artemis spoke. Hans wasn't sure what to think of this. On one hand he felt stronger now, but he was also drawing power from an unholy source. His mana felt different, but not his person...or at least he hopes not.
The merc slowly turned his attention back to Artemis as she spoke. The group needed to split up if they wanted to put an end to all of this quick enough...and the vice captain wanted to take the fight to the daemon herself. There was a sense of uncertainty in Hans' expression. She definitely is the strongest one of the group, and has taken care of a daemon before...but she has been handicapped thanks to that bracelet. Sven made it sound like that it is only hindering her sensory, but what if there's more to it...something that the daemon hadn't told her?
Still, Artemis seemed very adamant about doing this, and Hans was in no position to disagree. Even with the bracelet, the water mage still served a far better chance than the others who would only get in her way. After instructing the group to take the little girl back and the direction of the nearest well, the group's impromptu leader was off, soaring through the skies.
Crossing his arms, Hans glanced over at Valo. He had a strong feeling that this wouldn't be sitting well for him out of everyone else here. Then Gen spoke up, catching the merc's attention. She suggested that the group should split up a bit more, one group to take the girl home, and the other to tackle the first well. "I'll head to the well too." Hans said, nodding towards Gen before glancing over to the girl. As much as he wanted to make sure she'd get home safe, Hans had a feeling that out of all of the people here, she might find him the most scary to be around. Hans didn't exactly have an appearance that screamed "Friendly!" and of course there's his magic that would probably just remind her of the darkness plaguing this town...
Assuming that it's Valo and Charles that are going with the girl, it's safe to say that she'll feel safer around two Magic Knights, especially the fire one. Appears that the witch will be going with the dark and shadow mages...which Hans wasn't exactly sure how he felt about this. "Hans." the merc followed Gen's lead and introduced himself to the blue rose knight but kept his arms crossed. It was probably wise to learn everyone's names during all of this...Would make calling out to others easier after all.
"E-er...right." Hans was not sure how to reply to the shadow mage's broom comment at first, being taken off guard by it. He just rubbed the back of his neck and glanced to the side. "Don't need your broom anyway." the guy returned a smaller smirk of his own before taking out his broom and started to stand on top of it. As it started to float, the merc looked back at Charles and Valo, assuming they were still there. He did not need to tell them to be careful or make sure that the girl is safe. It was obvious that they were going to do those anyway. He instead gave them a nod, a silent trust between "bros" some people would say before flying off with the others, ready to tackle this well....

“The way you look at that building…~ I can tell~ niho…~ you’ve suffered the hat-house too…~”
Seren said as she floated over. She had the child with her on one broom, and the other two… she was keeping them at a distance until they could be sanitized from monster juice. The witch’s face was shadowed over a shade far deeper a hue than any demon could muster, whether in the air or over its own visage... the things the two must have seen… the crawlies and the skitterers, the screechies and the sticky wood floor, the eye-eyes and the smoogly wooglys that flapped about in webs, it was enough to turn even a demon back to the nether to keep from having to deal with it.
“Those who have seen hat-house are forever marked~ niho~ and may recognize their comrades in arms with only a glance under a certain light~ like~ for instance~ in the glimmer of that house that is on fire and totally the demon’s fault~ niho~”
Seren nodded.
“How are you feeling niho~? ~Is the healing working~ niho~?”
Seren asked as the little runes continued to dance. She then reinforced that spell with the lesser version known as Fairy Wink. If the witch were being honest, she would happily state that she did not very much enjoy this role, it was a magic she practiced to help others which she was fully pleased with, and yet, at times she felt bound to it. Like a dog walking on two legs, or a tunneling bird, both could make progress but each was out of their respective element, so to speak.
Seren fell quiet as the demon spoke again, and she more or less just nodded along.
“That is a very lonely demon with very very much to say~ niho~ I hope this whole ordeal wasn’t a ploy for attention~ because there are faster ways~ niho~”
She would mutter with a shake of her head when the dark presence had finished. The child, perhaps looking for better reassurance than a witch who often acted half her age, or perhaps just to get an autograph, would make her way to Artemis as the vice captain gave them their next standing orders. Trusty notepad in hand, Seren scribbled shorthand notes for herself until she had the whole situation nice and tidy on a piece of paper.
“Just be careful niho~”
Seren would wave Artemis off before turning her gaze back over the group.
A time for decisive action~ niho~? Can’t say I disagree~ so three teams~ niho~ hmmm~
“Hmmmm~! niho~! Merci seems to walk very fast~ so I will talk quickly as well~ niho~! After some preliminary analysis ~I~ Seren~ great sage of the witches forest have deduced that I must follow her on the following qualifications~~~ First, that her track record with explosions is less than great~~~ Second~ that the demons seem to think she is very very neat~~~ and third~ that I’m probably going to have to be the one do some well poking~ niho~”
That last one made the witch grimace.
“~As we have a green mantis with not only a familiarity with our charge~ but also a homefield knowledge on the lay of the land~ I think you should see baby mantis home~ niho~”
Seren was jogging in place as she looked between the group and the departing “Merci”.
“Ah~! I have a bit of a funny story~ but I don’t really have time to tell it niho~~~”
Seren scuttled over and gently slapped a piece of paper on Valo’s chest. She assumed he accepted it, if not, she would probably annoyingly tuck it into his collar with a ‘here~!’ ‘here~!’ ‘there you go~ niho~!’
“It’s a bit of an adulty sort of story~ niho~ if you catch my drift~”
Seren winked a few too many obvious times.
“Read it when this is all over~ then decide whatever it is the main character should do~! Good luck~ let’s maybe all meet again alive maybe~! Kobayashi Sun-Moon to you all niho~!”
The paper was the other copy of the document she had given Artemis. The witch would rather have given it to the young man after this was all over, but now their very reunion was put to question. As the self-declared principle well-poker, Seren knew that her life had no guaranteed tomorrow. The idea didn’t bother her, in fact it didn’t feel all that strange to her to NOT be bothered by it. Now was simply a time for living in the moment, which meant saying what needed to be said.
Saying her partings to that portion of the party, Seren took off after Genesis with her arms raised and waving. She almost appeared like a child wanting to be picked up.
“Merci~~~~! Haaay~ take me with you~!”
Catching up to Genesis, and taking her gore-smeared hand, Seren was plopped behind the cool dark and mysterious and yet kind looking woman. Wrapping her arms around her middle, Seren held on tight.
Eh~ her name is Gen~ niho~? I was wrong~?
Leaning in, Seren whispered in reply.
“Okay~ Gen it is niho~~~ ah~ and I feel like I should apologize beforehand~ niho~~~~ Though I can heal you~ the smell~ er~ you know niho~ unless it’s a curse my healing~~~~ well~~ let’s just say you may just want to just buy some new clothes later~~~~niho~ yeah…~”
With a nod, Seren directed her three broom golems into formation well ahead of Genesis and her broom.
“We should fly in a column~ niho~ the less wide space we cover the better. This is a sage’s guesstimation~ niho~ but does this seems like about the distance that the orbs from before would detonate~ niho~? ~Sorry if that’s a sore subject~ niho~ but all knowledge is valuable~”
Regardless of if she heard Genesis’ reply of the explosion radius of the orbs from before, Seren adjusted her three brooms even further outward… and began to spin them like propellers.
“Okay Genny~ and Hans the master of defense who seems to be getting cool unfair uppities from demons which I’m ALSO not jealous of~ niho~ let’s fly well above the houses so that if we set off any traps~ only WE will maybe die~ niho~! Silver linings are everything in this line of work~! ~You guys should think about becoming magic knights some time~! Niho~! It's pretty much always like this~ and now you've got the experience~!”
Seren pointed up like a diso dancer. Her three brooms were spaced as a propellor wall about 100 meters ahead of them, and Seren was using their vision to attempt to fill in for her own.
“I’d don’t think anything’s exploded yet~ niho~ which might be a very good sign~!”
She tittered while looking behind her.
“Hay~ dark master Hans~ do you think you could shield us~ niho~? ~With your shields and my healing~ and Genny’s weird non sensy sensory~ I’d be feeling pretty confident that we couldn’t do any better~ niho~! It’s not like there’s some secret solution we’re missing or anything~!”
Leaving it at that, Seren waited for Genesis to head out. Seren would focus on maintaining her healing spells and distant broom golems as they went.

Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
Valo's spell connected with the shadow like mana beasts, in fact it was able to hit two mana beasts in a single swoop. Getting a good sight was next to impossible in the town and even more so in this mana zone. He wasn't expecting to hit two of the mana beasts, when he only aimed for one. But not only that he didn't control the output of his own flames, a misjudgment, a miscalculation, perhaps his overall anger was causing him to make mistakes. "Tch. Fuck." the fire mage said when he saw his own fire start to climb up the walls of the building and spread even further. His back was facing Charles and Hans making sure to that no other surprise attacks would catch them off guard, and they needed to work together in order to get out of this place. Now with Valo's fire spreading throughout, it was becoming more and more apparent that they needed to leave and quickly.
He finally got the swordsman's name, Hans. He wondered what it was for a while, but now he finally had one. Valo saw how Charles silver spike spell pierced the other mana beast right in the throat giving it a silent death. With all the threats seemingly taken care of, there was no better time to leave then now. But it seemed Valo's fire spreading did a little good, it was now much easier to breathe then before and the sense of uneasiness was starting to wither away. Without wasting anymore time Valo started to run at a decent place outside of the burning building, the body of his old friend Mr. Fong was still on his left shoulder. Valo made his way outside and took a deep breath, now his breathing was back to normal or as normal as it could get with the town still covered in darkness. It was a reminder that his home was still covered in a deep, dark and engrossing shadow. It weighed on his mind heavily, but he could take one step at a time in order to save his home. The first step right now was, giving Mr. Fong a proper burial. He wanted to check on Nanami, but from the looks of the others had her protected and well guarded. Unfortunately Valo didn't have the time to give his old friend a true and proper burial, but he did place his body underneath a nearby tree. "I promise I'll be back Mr. Fong." Valo said after taking a moment of silence for the fallen man.
After that Valo started to walk back towards the group, and that familiar voice returned. This time mocking Valo for his previous actions in the building, but Valo was completely unfazed. The fire mage only rolled his eyes in a response to this Daemon's words. This whole time his words have been nothing but mockery, and Valo felt it was getting way to old. He's been mocked before, threatened before, previous encounters have promised to end his life before as well. The only thing he thought was that this Daemon did a lot of talking and mocking without showing it's face, it only made a appearance once before and made sure it was well protected. "Yeah. Yeah. Bite me." Valo replied. But he did know he made a miscalculation, releasing a spell like that could have proven very dangerous if innocent life was in the building luckily there wasn't any. And rain started to comedown to put out the flames. "Trust me that ain't happening." Valo replied to Hans, to reassure him that the Daemons words were not getting to him.
The Daemon continued though, giving them a time limit on how long they have to defeat them before Kikka was done for. But it almost sounded like it wanted to be defeated, like it wanted to be put out of it's misery. Even going so far as to suggest to take Nanami home, that thought was in Valo's head for a while now. He would have taken her back home sooner if the building didn't start falling down, but now since that was over it was time to get the young one to proper safety. Valo would walk towards Nanami, a small smile was on his face he was honestly glad to see her unharmed. He wasn't gone long, but it was long enough for him to worry. He thought lives were in danger so he had to jump into action it was his job after all, but he didn't intend to leave the young girl alone without for long.
"Nanami are you ok?" he asked the little one, going down to meet her eye to eye. "Have my friends been keeping you safe?" his followup question. Once he knew she was safe and unharmed, he would begin to ask the tough questions. Given what the Daemon had said, and what Nanami may know it was up to him to get this information from her. They needed the locations of all five wells, and right now none of them had a clear idea of where they were. There only chance was Nanami, but Valo had faith in her he believed she would be able to come through. This little girl had been through a lot, a lot more then any little girl should have go through in their whole life and it was only one night.
Valo heard Artemis's question for the location of the church. Valo pointed in the general direction of the large church in Kikka he stretched out his arm pointing east. "Head east its not to far off. With your speed you should get there in a few minutes and you can't miss it." Valo replied to his Vice Captain. "I know you'll win, so no luck is needed."
He still remembered what she told him too, about hearing the Daemon's voice in her head. He has yet to have the chance to tell the rest of the group, and with Artemis taking flight to face the Daemon he didn't get the chance to tell his Vice Captain. Speaking of Valo wished he could have went with her to face the Daemon, but as he was now he would only get in the way. Knowing this fact, he vowed even more to get stronger.
Valo looked at Nanami and met her little eyes. "Nanami I need to ask you something. The Daemon mentioned five well locations, it is very important we get to those wells and get rid of them. But we can't do that without your help. If you know where these wells are, please try to remember and tell me. If we can get to them and get rid of them we could possibly save Kikka. And we can't do that without you." Valo said to Nanami, hoping she would be able to give him the locations of the five wells.
If Nanami was able to provide the locations, Valo pat her on the head softly with a big smile on his face. "Nanami you are the best! I'll be waiting for you in Green Mantis!" he said proudly, after that he would turn and face the group and begin to give them exact location of each well with the info provided by Nanami. Giving them a detailed and thorough location for each one just in case things went wrong. Now was the time to split up, Valo would stand right beside Nanami he would be the first one to vote himself in getting her home. Out of the group there was no one better for the job then him, plus he wanted to make sure personally his little friend got home safe and sound. "I'll be taking Nanami home, makes sense for me to do it. Drop off the little one first and head directly to the next well."
The group was left with no choice but to split up for now, they had to cover lots of ground and fast now that they were on a time limit. Valo using his mana tether called his fire golems to his side, he kept this spell active just in case he needed it and now he would. The witch that was keeping Momo safe approached him, and slapped a letter to his chest informing to read it after all this was over. He was confused at first, but he took the letter and slipped it in his pocket he guessed it had to be important and he wouldn't forget to read it after all this was over. "T-t-thank you." Valo said to Seren, still a confused look on his face. So much was going on Valo didn't want to question it for to long. The group consisting of Seren, Genesis, and Hans would start to take off. Not a lot of time to say anything really, but he was going to keep the hope that they would see each other again. But then he remembered something really important. "Seren!! Take care of Momo!!" if anything happened to that bird, Valo's mother would kill him even if he survived this whole ordeal. After that he returned Hans headnod, and give the same one to Genesis as they headed off.
Now that left him, Charles and Nanami. Valo would reach out to gently take Nanami's hand. "Now its time to take you home." Assuming Charles would create a transport spell, Valo would help Nanami up on top by lifting her. "I can use my golems to fly ahead of us, hopefully they can triggger any traps we might run into along the way." Valo said to Charles ready to head out.

The mana beasts were successfully killed thanks to the assistant of the Vice-Captain of the Green Mantis that made things easier for them. God knows what will be of them if it wasn't for her assistance, nonetheless, it made things easier for the group of mages that were stuck inside the building. Hans pointed out something strange which was that there was darkness here. Charles couldn't exactly understand what the mercenary was talking about, but it seemed to be referencing to the magic he possessed rather than the place itself, because other than that it was quite obvious the place was dark. While Valo seemed to annoyed over the fact that he had to attack someone he knew. He understood his position, after all the town of Kikka was filled with people he knew since he was a child. So the possibility of injuring anyone he knew was hard. If anyone had it the hardest, it was Valo. [break][break] Due to the side effect of Valo's spells, the building began to catch fire. This made things problematic for them as they had to get out of the building as soon as possible otherwise the building will collapse on them and all of their current efforts would've been for nothing. Y-Yeah..." The black bull agreed with Hans. Suddenly something unexpected happened. "Is it raining?" He questioned what was going. For a moment he thought it was a spell Artemis used, but it was actual rain, by the looks of it. The silver mage sighed of relief. It appeared that even after having a streak of bad luck, the rain showed as if mother nature was at least on their side. The black bull proceeded to carefully walk out of the building with his guard up. At this point, he could not lower his guard. He was getting tired of this. It felt like a nightmare, everything was dark with their vision reduced the entire time. There was no better way to define it, but as a nightmare that didn't seem to end. [break][break] As soon as he walked out of the building. The young magic knight will hear a voice, a familiar voice that was hard for him to forget. It was the voice that has been treating this entire situation as a game, the Daemon Sven. He began by first pointing out Valo's recklessness by using his fire spells that would've most likely burned down the building if it wasn't for the rain. The Daemon will then refer to Vice-Captain Artemis that was pretty much leading the group. His eyes will widen to the comment from the Daemon was he threatened to blow up the town of Kikka in 24 hours if they didn't manage to destroy the five wells, his servants, and himself. The situation now was different, not only were they facing against an extremely powerful enemy, but they now had 24 hours to defeat them otherwise Kikka will blow up resulting in countless civilian deaths. Not only were their lives at stake but every one the lives of everyone in Kikka were now in the hands of the group. "This Daemon is seriously a pain in the ass if I'm honest..." He stated, as he was getting tired of his games, but getting mad and frustrated will only lead him to fall into despair and that's what the Daemon wanted. [break][break] Artemis now stated the situation to the group. Being the strongest member of the group, she was going to fight Sven head-on, no tricks, nothing else. It was for the best for Artemis to fight the Daemon alone, after all, if they went as a group they will do nothing, but be an annoyance and might even force the Vice-Captain to limit herself in an attempt to not kill them. It was clear the battle between those will be chaotic. The group now had to split, divide and conquer as the Daemon was expecting. The group was now going to divide itself with a group that will deal with the first wells while the other got the girl to safety. It was for the best that the Blue Rose Magic Knight to go with the group to deal with the wells, it was more likely for them to encounter the enemies on their way there. Especially with the two other Daemons roaming around they had to be careful, even though they weren't as strong as Sven. They posed a threat to them, especially with Artemis dealing with the main boss. With the two groups being organized it was best for Charles to accompany Valo, after all, flying all the way there should make things easier. It could also reduce the chances of them triggering traps, but it's likely the Daemons already knew some of his spells and prepared beforehand in case he decided to do that. Nonetheless, flying was the fastest way to get there and they needed to get there as soon as possible to help out the rest of the group in taking out the wells. [break][break] As Seren, Hans, and Genesis departed to look for the wells after receiving the information. Charles returned the bro nod to Hans. Mutual trust between the three mages that just went through hell a few moments ago. Right now everyone had to trust each other that they will do their jobs accordingly. The Black Bull's grimoire came alight as he created an owl made out of silver to take them all the way to where the girl lived. "Hop on in..." Surprisingly enough, for a commoner the sign of an owl made out of silver could be considered to beautiful or elegant, which was ironic because the user of said magic was the opposite of that. The silver mage hopped in, followed up by Valo and the girl. "Got it, hopefully, they should trigger some traps before they hit us." Valo's idea was solid, after all it reduced the chances of them getting hit by any nearby traps. If anything the safety of the girl was their top priority. As soon as Valo and the girl were on top of the owl. The owl will take off and take them towards that the direction of the girl's home. [break][break]

With Sven giving his deadline it was up to the group to decide what to do, the impromptu leader of the group decided that it would be best to divide and conquer and decided that she would deal with the archdaemon and his spawn leaving the others to deal with taking the young girl in their care home where it would be safe before dealing with the wells. In retrospect, it made sense as they could cover more ground doing it. The Green Mantis vice-captain asked for directions to the church from the other within her squad and would head south-east towards it allowing the rest to come up with a plan of action of their own which ended with them splitting into two teams to continue the divide and conquer.
~~~~~~~~~
Artemis:
The green mantis vice-captain moved towards the rest of the group and asked Valo for the directions towards the church before turning her attentions to the small girl that they had saved giving her a few words of encouragement and reassurance that she would be taken home and the group would take care of the threat. She was then asked for her to help the other five of the group to the best of her abilities which made her smile and nod before she took off in the directions given to her by Valo and heads towards the church with her own sensory and ki she is able to feel and see the traps and avoid them with ease, she is able to tell which buildings have citizens in them, how many and just where they are located. It was clear this town was in dire straights and they knew it as Sven had let the entire town hear his words and the ultimatum that came with it. It hadn't taken that long given the woman's speed before she was close enough to the church to see the steeple but within her sensory range, she would feel a well around forty-four meters north of her current position. She would need to decide whether to take out the well before heading to the church or deal with the archdaemon and then take out the well if the others hadn't done so by the time her fight with Sven was done.
~~~~~~~~~
Valo, Charles, Genesis, Hans, Seren:
Hearing Valo call her name Nanami nodded running towards him smiling after dropping the broom golem and hugging her Artemis plush once more. "I was safe! I got to play with a broom! and... and... Vice-captain Artemis told me I have to help you all to the best of my ability." she said excitedly it was then when Valo stated that they needed her help in locating the wells Nanami put her hands out as if she was holding an open book she managed to make an unsteady two-dimensional childish-looking map made of water "This is Kikka..." she then started to point making five x's appear on the map as she stated where the wells could be located "There's one a little ways away from the church, one in the park near here, one in the centre of town, one at the purple orca's headquarters and one in the mayor's estate." she said calmly looking up to Valo to see if she had been helpful enough information for the group to help or not, his approval meant a lot to her and it showed. "Is this good?" she asked tilting her head to the left a smile on her face but it vanished as she remembered something "I remembered something Valo..." she said tugging on his sleeve "I'm the safest person in the whole of Kikka, in fact, they can't blow Kikka up while I'm in here." she said tugging a bit more "They said they would allow one child free of their game but allowed the adults to choose which child would be safe... there was a lot of fighting but mommy and daddy were the most cunning and I've been spared. They won't harm me, they can't by their weird code thinger." she finished hoping it would relieve the stress of the group about the town going boom, of course, there was nothing saying that they wouldn't remove her from the town but she still at least for now Kikka was safe because she was in it.
She giggled when she was praised by Valo and was told he would be waiting for her inside the Green Mantis for the day that she became a member of the squad herself. She heard the pride in his tone and that made her happy as she dispelled the basic map allowing him to give them the information they needed before they decided who was going into which group and which group was doing what. It was decided that Genesis, Hans and Seren would be in one team and they'd head to the well in the park while Charles and Valo would take Nanami home before going to the well in the middle of the town since it would be the closest to where she stayed. After quick introductions and silent nods, the teams would separate and head towards their intended destinations.
~~~~~~~~~
Hans, Seren, Genesis:
On your way to the first well you can sense a lot of traps around you, a few of them are a little to close for comfort with how many there are. You do however make it to the first well safe and secure however Seren ended up with two less brooms as they would hit traps, luckily they were in the air and were meant only to damage a single target for senior damage each. When they get to the well it was eerily quiet, it was almost as if they couldn't hear their own thoughts, the sound of their own steps or breathing. The well seemed up protected however both Seren and Genesis would know that wasn't the case. There were three traps on regards to this well. A large one around it on the ground, one on the base of the well and one on the top of it. What they did for the moment was unknown but it was clear to destroy the well the traps needed to go first.
~~~~~~~~~
Valo and Charles:
The team of Charles and Valo boarded the construct of silver with Nanami and headed towards where the young girl stayed, they weren't so lucky in the regards to their sensory so did bang into a trap but all it seemed to do was take junior damage and slow the construct down but they did eventually manage to get her home. Upon landing the door opened and Nanami's mother ran out hugging her in tears looking up to the two magic knights "Thank you... thank you for bringing my little sea treasure home." she said looking to the pair before she really noticed Valo was one of the two "Valo!" she said moving forward and hugging him tightly "My husband was killed in to get her free of all this but she ended up remaining in the town anyway. I do hope you make them pay and that you'll come to the funeral before heading back to duties after this is done." she said it was clear she had been crying for hours. "Wait here a moment." she said moving back into the house with Nanami before coming out with what seemed like rings of crystal ring but inside seemed to be raging fire and wind. "These aren't much and likely won't last too long but long enough to help you in the endeavour against your current enemy." she said putting one on Valo and Charle's index fingers. "I'll take care of Nanami and you both go deal with what you need to but please your group needs to come back for dinner after this." she said with a quick wave before closing the door knowing she would be in danger if she stayed out any longer.
Story:
Nanami has been returned home to her mother and Valo has been told that to save the youth her father passed away, the pair have been given a reward that won't last forever but that would last at least until their group saves Kikka from the darkness that enshrouds it currently. The second group have been found there first well but it is heavily trapped and it is almost as if their hearing is completely removed and Artemis has found her way close to the church but is faced with a decision on whether to head directly to the church or take a detour to deal with the well that is close to her.
OOC:
By taking Nanami home the mother has given a ring that gives 30 temp stats to its wielder additionally once every other round, these rings can give its wielder a glimpse into the future allowing them to avoid a danger that might affect them. This only lasts until the end of the thread then the rings will shatter.
Hans spells speed has increased by 25% and has also gained +6 power to them for the remainder of the thread due to his exposure to the mana zone.
[attr="class","artemistext"] Her speed was almost a blur to those looking outside their windows.[break][break]
Artemis knew that time was of the essence, which meant that she could not dally any longer. Not only was her transformation giving her the ability of flight and augmented speed, the Moonsong bow as well supported her in the same regard.[break][break]
“This Daemon’s mana leaves a sour taste to one’s sensory.” Undine would comment as she flew beside her young charge. She would glance at Artemis, seeing the determination in her eyes, the same steel that she held while fighting the Calamity. The spirit knew that the coming fight would pit her young charge against this being of massive power, though she was confident that the Lady Somerset would win. She chose her as her partner for a reason, after all. [break][break] “It tries to fool. It tries to hide. It tries to play as though it is a chessmaster.” Artemis would shake her head, noticing that just somewhere close-by, there was another well. “It also tries to distract.” She would turn her attention back at the church, with the steeple already visible. “We must cut off the head of the snake first, before dealing with the rest of its mangy body.”[break][break]
Without so much as another thought, Artemis pushed towards the church. Her sensory skill set was being put to the test, but she would dodge and weave through the traps laid about against her. [break][break] “This bracelet has sapped me of some of my power, yet it has also helped me through what would have been easy to solve puzzles if I had my full sensory capability,” Artemis sighed, glancing at Undine, “Let us hope it would help us once more.”[break][break]
With that, Artemis hoped to have arrived at the church and face the Daemon, Sven.

[break][break] TL;DR Artemis has War-maiden: Lady Sif, and used Moonsong. She ignores the well for now, and heads towards the church to challenge Sven.

“Is everyone still alive~ niho~? Because I’m sensing what might be the well we were told about ahead~!”
Seren pointed into the bleak nothingness of the darksmog.
“I wish I could say I was surprised~ niho~ but the well is also covered in traps~ business as usual right~ niho~?”
Looking at her last remaining broom, Seren made a face. Flying through such hazards really wasn’t good for the nerves.
“I sense three traps niho~ a very scary one on the floor~ one less scary one on the well~ and one equally less scary one above it~ hmmmm~~~~ Well first thing’s first~ niho~ I’m going to replenish my broomies~ then we can think and do~ niho~!”
With a flash, the last remaining broom golem faded, only to be replaced by three fresh ones.
“Now then my merry companions~ I~ Seren~ great sage of the witches forest have a grand suggestion~ and my suggestion just may be in the form of a plan~! Niho~!”
Seren nodded from where she was hanging on to Genesis from behind.
“Because traps seem to tend to explode~ niho~ I have deduced that we should rain many great and beautiful magics from afar~ niho~ as the range of magic is quite great~ coming in at a Cloveraian range of some seventy score~ niho~ I feel very suited to this task~! ~And through this bombardment~ it is my hope that we are able to disable the weaker two traps with wise and judicious force~! Niho~! But this is not all~ niho~! We are also blessed with master of gut feelings and a defensive expert as well~ niho~ which is very fortunate~! So~ after I fire~ do you two think you would be able to cover us~ niho~? Even with my broom golems forming a small shield in front of us~ I feel that even that may not be enough~ niho~ but with your barriers and black holes Mr. Hans~ and Genny’s exploding daggers~ I think we just might be able to poke the great and scary magic array with some small degree of safety~ niho~! ~But we need to hurry~ niho~ are there any objections~?”
After laying out her brilliant plan and listening to the replies of her two bonnies companions with a series of ‘humus’ and ‘I sees’ and ‘niho’s as well, Seren would assume that things would proceed as she described.
***
Putting it into layman’s terms, Seren suggested that the group continue their aerial approach to the well but pause at 70 meters out, which is the maximum range of her spell, Ether Spark. Seren would then arrange her freshly summoned broom golems as a fence shield in front of them and fire upon the upper trap, well trap, then the well itself in that order. Seren trusted that Hans and Gensis would be able to handle any additional defensive needs that might crop up in the process.
Seren trusted their judgement with her life, just as she asked the two unfortunate civilians to do the same. All in all, it was one heck of a team building exercise. No ball to pass around needed, they had already become acquainted with one another’s names and magic.
“I’m assuming that I am saying ‘~here goes nothing~’ right about now~ niho~! ~Ether Canon Magic~ Ether Spark~!!!!”
And so, we assume she fired.
Three streaks of pure ether launched at her targets, and the fourth, she saved to see what would happen. If something flew at her or her companion's faces, she would attempt to shoot it down with this last remaining ammo shot.
*** Combat Summery and Notes: 1) [maintained] Fairy Tender on Self, Genesis, Hans (+Int Healing) 2) Resummoned Broom Golems and had all three form a fence in front of party. 3) Cast Ether Spark at: Upper Trap, Well Trap, Well itself. (Int Damage?) 4) Still on Gen's Broom. 5)
“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
Hans was in the air with his two party members. The witch ended up sharing a ride with Gen while the dark mage tagged along on his own, getting in a column like formation as Seren suggested.
Hans winced a bit at the comment Seren threw his way regarding his...boost in power. So she was able to sense it. Everyone who was close enough to him were probably able to. Having this darkness inside of him made the merc feel uneasy. Hans' darkness felt warm, comforting...and oddly chilly at times to him, but darkness from that mana zone that managed to sink its way into the man's mana, it felt strange. Hans once again looked down at his own body, seeing the faint dark aura still surrounding him. He hoped that nothing bad would come from this...
Now flying above the buildings, Hans looked over to Seren before glancing elsewhere. "Not interested..." he'd say regarding the talk of becoming a Magic Knight. There was more to it than him just being 'not interested' however. Since he was born and spent part of his childhood in the Diamond Kingdom, Hans never truly felt that he belongs in Clover, in return making him feel like he isn't worthy to be among the Magic Knights. Even with what he has been doing right now, and some things he has done in the past, Hans does not believe himself to be a good person, thanks to his father. He despises the man with a passion, but deep down, Hans believes himself to be more of his father's child than his mother's...
"H-huh?" Hans was once again snapped out of his angsty thoughts by the bubbly witch's voice. "U-uh yeah...Yeah, sure." Hans blinked a few times before shaking his head like he were just waking up. "Barrier..." Hans' grimoire flipped a page and a dark aura radiated off of it. Two glass like barriers of darkness. One floated beside Hans and the other by the two women. "...and Black Hole." Another page turned and two black holes were conjured. One floated near Hans' shoulder and the other floated between Seren and Gen, specifically by their shoulder. The dark mage would make sure that these spells keep up with the group, and maneuver them around when necessary. The dark smoke around Has' body was also on the spells...furthering Hans' uneasiness.
As they got closer to the well, Hans perked up a bit as he noticed two of Seren's brooms getting obliterated by what he assumed to be were traps. He wasn't sure about the other two, but the merc wasn't even able to sense those traps. It was like they didn't exist. At least it was the brooms and not the trio that took the hit, but this also served as a reminder to not let their guard down.
The well was now within visual distance, but as they grew closer, things started to slowly go quiet....
Hans didn't notice the sudden quietness at first once he stopped along with the others. He had his attention on the well, not noticing Gen's question. The man didn't need to have good sensory to know that this well would be booby trapped, especially with what they've been dealing with so far. Only problem is knowing how far the trap reaches out to, how powerful it is...how to not trigger it. As he pondered, Hans heard some muffled speaking, as if someone were whispering or talking from far away. The guy confusingly looked around before settling his eyes on Seren. It was coming from her, but...she wasn't far away at all, nor did it look like she was whispering. "Another one of his tricks..." Hans quickly deduced, looking annoyingly down at the well. Seren had some sort of plan, but Hans found it difficult to understand.
The dark mage looked over to Seren once again, trying to get what she was saying through lip reading, but it all looked like nonsense to him, but then again that wouldn't really come off as surprising...
"The daemon cut our hearing again! I can't understand what you're sayi-" Hans tried shouting it out, but all Seren did was nod and such it seems. The dark mage closed his eyes, and pinched the bridge of his nose in an almost comical and annoyed fashion before shaking his head. Hans peeked an eye open a few second later as he heard more muffled speaking, followed by Seren...launching that strange magic of hers at the well!
"..." Hans was visually shocked by this. He couldn't hear the sound of the spell being cast clearly neither. Either way, this was...a thing now, and the merc needed to keep on his toes, making sure to stay on alert! If anything dangerous started to come the trio's way, then Hans will make sure to adjust his defensive spells to protect them the best he can!

The silver construct eventually arrived to the house of Nanami. They triggered a trap on the way there, but it didn't do anything significant to any of them. Just slowing down the silver owl, but they managed to reach their destination safe and sound. Upon landing, someone opened the door and woman came out with tears falling from face. Charles witnessed how the woman ran towards Nanami to hug her. It obvious to him who she was, it was Nanami's mom. She seemed worried as she looked up to him and Valo. Nanami's mother appeared to have recognized Valo and gave him a hug. "Not a problem..." The black bull replied as she proceeded to hug Valo. She began to talk about how her husband died trying to free Nanami. It seemed like that little girl they just rescued was everything left for that mother who already had lost her husband. The silver mage couldn't help, but smile, a rare sight from his part for sure, but he felt slightly better after what happened in the past. [break][break] The woman told the two of them to wait for a moment. For a moment the young Magic Knight thought that she was going to bring money as compensation for bringing Nanami back. He was wrong, as Nanami's mother came back holding two crystal rings, but looked strange to him in the inside. Charles raised an eyebrow as she placed the ring on his index finger, he didn't know what the ring was capable of, but it looked strange to him. "Hmmm?" He looked at the ring curiosity, it was different from the other ring he was wearing. Whatever it was, the silver mage gave a reassuring nod. Seems like he will have to figure out the abilities behind the ring, but he hoped that they could at least help turn the tide of battle and save Kikka. This gave Charles some determination to get rid of those Daemons. An extremely rare case for someone like him. "Got it, thank you. That sounds great..." Once they destroyed those wells and the Daemons going to eat dinner seemed like a good idea. After doing so much work, it was obvious he was going to be hungry. She also mentioned the group, it seemed like Nanami's mother has been watching them for a while. So she was aware that they needed all the help they can get. [break][break] After Nanami's mom headed back inside her home and closed the door. Charles turned to Valo as he created another Silver Owl after the previous one was damaged and slowed down due to the previous trap. "Seems like we are done here. We don't have time to lose..." He hopped on top of the silver owl and waited for Valo to hop on. Once he got on it, the owl will take off and fly towards the direction of the closest well. He had Valo who knew the town very well, so locating the well wouldn't be an issue with him on board. "What do you think the rings she gave us capable of doing?" He was curious about the abilities those rings had, but they will have to find out what they are capable of doing when the time is right. As the Black Bull asked that the silver construct continued to make its way towards the next well... [break][break]
