Hino could only help but smile as she heard the warmth of the fire mages voice call out to her, it sent her heart fluttering as it had for several cycles of the moon by this point. It wasn't long before the summer festival they were told they could court by her father of course traditions would have to be respected but she had no issue with it, she knew that Valo was a good and honourable man as she had seen it with her own eyes. She didn't care he was a commoner nor did she care about the squad he belonged to or his less than past pristine past. What mattered to her was the man that stood in front of her here and now, the strength to her gentleness and a constant reminder that even if no one else believed in her place on the battlefield he would.

She ran over to him as quickly as she could not caring about manners or expectations, she felt normal around him and for that, she would be forever grateful to him. She didn't have to wear a mask, but then, she was quite sure even if she did attempt to he would see through her facade, something that no other, not even her own family could do. She knew that Luli and Junjie could to a certain extent as she spent so much time with them as she grew and even now, but it was nothing like the black-haired mage she had come to love could do. Then again, she never expected Valo to get concerned with her being gone for three weeks or to sneak onto her families estate out of concern but he had. It was only due to Junjie and Luli's quick thinking that nothing untoward had happened.

"Thank you for inviting me Valo, everything looks so wonderful." she looked down blushing a little "I have to confess, this is the first time I have been to a festival outside of my own traditions so I could only really compare it to those and I don't want to do that." she said honestly looking around to everyone playing games as well as doing other things. "Do you think there's truth in what Captain Castle said Valo? That we could see loved ones that have gone to meet their ancestors on this night?" she would ask him earnestly. She didn't know if it was true, they had a festival of remembrance in her own culture but it was nothing like this, also due to how her families estate as she was never sure that the boat ever left the estate and if it did she was quite sure it was thanks to Luli and Junjie.

"From what little I do understand this festival looks great and I hope to play in some of the stall games." she said holding onto her sleeves a little. It did look like a lot of fun she just felt like a fish out of water, she guessed this was how he felt at her home when he had to dress up in clothing he wasn't accustomed to. She didn't mind her dress, it was simple and beautiful, something she imagined a farmers daughter or a shop assistant might wear. She never really wore things like this, it was always a hanfu or something that showed her heritage. Kikka is a town known to be the defensive foot-hold for the Clover Kingdom, it is the town that sits in the grey area of what could be considered the noble region and the common region. It is due to this that there is a diverse range of people and backgrounds that called this place home.

A young fire mage found himself getting into trouble when he decided to steal some vegetables from a garden of jewellers. The mother of the family was the one that caught him and even told the boy and his mother that they just needed to ask due to them having more than enough. It was the beginning of a new bond between the family and the fire mage.

Over time the boy grew and where he was wanting to learn the next flashy fire move from the former purple orca. She would tell him that he needed to learn how to walk before he tried to run or those he cared about would get burned by those same flames that treasured so much. Of course, being young he didn't understand what she was getting at.

The woman's husband attempted to teach the street smart and somewhat rough male his craft. He, of course, got bored real quickly because crafting jewellery was a slow process that often was very detail orientated. Still, the man tried. On the day the fire mage was scheduled to leave Kikka for the exams the man called the young mage into his workshop.

He was just finishing up a double ring set and told him to put every wish and promise he could into a single flame and release it onto the ring. Somewhat sceptical the fire mage did what he was asked and thought it was for some sort of trinket for the woman that had helped him grow. The man placed the ring into a box and handed it to the budding mage.

"Valo, we see you as our son and we are proud to see the man you've grown into. You've helped create something that is unique and special, keep it with you and give it to someone that you believe deserves what you put into it."
