House Gwynbleidd has a very rich history going back to a time long ago, one very few actually remember to this day. Originally created when the heir to the elven kingdom of the west married the heiress of an underground dwarven kingdom and chose to live out their days in peace and quiet. It was said that when they abandoned their families during a time of great upheaval, it was a massive white wolf radiating light that showed them the path through the wilderness and warded off hungry beasts and monsters. After all was said and done, it was thanks to this creature that they found their home near the basin of Aristaeus. Whether this was true or just delirium could never be proven due to the hundreds of years that have since passed. In time, various members from other elven and dwarven families and clans came with them, forsaking their lineages and claims.
Most of this history is remembered by few, least of all the scholars of Clover. Some believed that the origins of the family having gotten lost was due to it predating the formation of Clover, while others believe it was lost due to the family making sure no traces remained to be studied and learned from. Because of the decision that was made for the progenitors of the family to live in self-imposed exile, their descendants have since followed up on that tradition albeit unknowingly. Many of them had chosen to live in enclaves within the forest regions to the north while others had instead created fishing communities along the eastern shoreline. One thing they all had in common however was that none of them knew they originally had blue blood running through their veins.
Due to how scattered the family has been for entire generations, most of the family eventually forgot they had any relatives existing outside of their own communities, knowing of one another only in the sense that one might do a distant acquaintance. Through it all, the communities did remain in contact, though mostly for the sake of trade. Where the enclave in the north had an easy time producing vegetables and fruits in the rich soil of the basin of Aristaeus, the fishing settlements often kept livestock in the rural area that surrounded them. However, in recent times, the enclave near the basin was eradicated due to the seemingly random incident that swept it all from the face of the earth, leaving what was believed to only be a single survivor. Growing up to become a magic knight in the Black Bulls, Griswold established what could be considered the foundation for the house's revival in modern times.
Twenty years after the northern enclave incident, disaster struck again when Villtsung raiders from the distant island archipelago of Skjaergard murdered and pillaged along the eastern coast, looting whatever wasn't boarded down, taking the women and children as slaves and setting fire to what remained. While some managed to avoid the slaughter by being away or having had a very good hiding spot, most were taken off to Skjaergard to work themselves to the bone and in most cases die under the yoke of the Villtsung they were sold to. To this day, it is believed that there are still members of the family being held as slaves on the archipelago, though this cannot be verified as 100% true or false. With the destruction of the enclave to the north and the fishing settlement to the east, what remains of the family is scattered across the continent and potentially even beyond. Due to this, it is not likely for current family members to even be fully aware of their roots at all.
Only the former head of the family and survivor of the enclave's destruction knew most of what remained of the family's history, passing what little he knew down to the current head before leaving the country, never to return.
