Ozma saw his sister smile to him weakly and he gently smiled back but deep down he was becoming more and more suspicious of what had been going on with her since she had left the house and when he heard her mention she read the report from kikka his eyes narrowed, he too had read the reports and what he read had sickend him and hearing that his own baby sister had seen such things made his stomach sink. As Zaven returned and passed her a cup the older sibling spotted the blood on his hands and felt his temper flare again considering how it was taboo in the family to deal with death and blood, while being a healer he could understand the odd encounter with blood every now and then and even he himself was prepared to deal with it should he have to one day cut an enemy down but it none the less made him angry that the man had been so careless as to expose Hinota to such a thing.
As Hinota excused herself and then he saw her captain do the same the older Yuiee instantly became on alert and his worry for his Sister skyrocketed and he stood up before bowing slightly to the man his sister had been talking to and wrote in the air.”Apologies sir I need to check on them” he wrote with his brushed before he moved to follow but he focused on not being in sight of Zaven since he got the feeling the Captain would be less then pleased about him following them but on the same token Hinota was his sister and if needed he would do what he needed to keep her safe. As he moved to the alley he didn’t enter but he stayed to the side out of side as he listened to what was going on and he clenched his hand into a fist as he heard Hinota crying and vomiting. Clearly he had been right and something was weighing on her but as he heard Zaven crying as well and begging her to tell him what he could do to make things right and even said that he cared for her and he felt sorry but in Ozmas mind it was too late for that. The older Yuiee was struggling to stay put his teeth were clenched and his hands were shaking and clenching and unclenching into fists. Her captain said he cared in Ozmas mind that was clearly a lie since his sister was already so shaken up and had most likely been exposed to things that had scarred her mentally among other things, it was so hard for Ozma to stay where he was and not try to tear the captain apart like he wanted to.

[attr="class","glentext"] As the girl in front of him presented herself by the name of Hinota and mentioned that she was a Magic Knight from the Golden Dawn he began to see things more clearly and understand as to why she knew his name in the first place. So she read the reports on Kikka and that's how she came to know his name, his participation in the first encounter with the Daemons in that town. It made sense, though in order for her to had read the report then it was possible that she also went to Kikka. "That explains it..." Charles replied to Hinota. So this was one of the Magic Knights who served under Captain saved, as expected she was quite refined in her speech and appearance unlike him who had a rather casual and laid-back way of saying things. Unless he was talking with a superior authority that required respect, then again those were on very rare and specific occasions. The conversation later moved to Hinota stating that she met the rest of the original group, he guessed they went there for a second time except him. This was enough to confirm her participation in Kikka, but for some reason, he was able to sense and feel like she was trying to hide something, as her speech was brief and rather indirect. Perhaps she wanted to hid it from the man nearby her, but he was unaware of what their relationship would be. "You met them? I hope they're doing alright." [break][break] Charles without a shadow of doubt was able to feel and see the sorrow in her eyes. It was something unique that only the people who went there would normally feel. It reminded him of himself after getting out of the hellhole, despite the battle is won many people who went there for the first time will never see their surroundings the same way as they used to. Even though the town was finally freed from the tyranny of the Daemons things wouldn't simply be the same, for the people who went there and the ones who live there. Sven had inflicted mental scars on everyone that would be hard to erase and a lot of people would have to live with the fact of what occurred. Even though his time in Kikka was brief, he understood the mentality of the Archdaemon Sven, he liked playing the long game, toying with his enemies, his entire strategy relied on mental games in order to destroy his opposition from the inside. Healing magic was capable of healing physical injuries, but not mental ones. "It was tough." The silver mage simply mentioned, assuming those were the words she had in her mind. Even though the two didn't talk much, Charles was able to feel and understand the pain Hinota was going through without saying much, it was something that very few people would understand. [break][break] His attention from the rather unusual, but emotional interaction between the two Magic Knights would be shifted to the sound of a familiar voice that he hasn't heard in months. Charles turned to see the Captain of the Golden Dawn who he did several missions in his early days as a Magic Knight, Zaven. "Oh hey, Captain. It's been a while since I last saw you. Good to see you again." He greeted the man who handed him over a hot chocolate, and took it happily. Funny enough, he was actually considering getting some, but Zaven was already ahead of him. "Thanks." The next thing he heard before taking a sip from the cup of chocolate that the Captain handed him was Hinota's voice stating that he was injured. The silver mage noted her distress by the sound of her voice, it was only natural for a squad member to care for their Captain. Then again how come Zaven start to bleed in a place like this? Unless he did something stupid, then again the blood was something strange. Hinota stood up and bowed to three before she rushed off somewhere else. The Black Bull didn't say much about Hinota's actions, he only believed them to be justified. It was likely what happened occurred at Kikka affected her reaction to seeing her Captain covered in blood, a trauma of sorts, similar to him. "She's a member of your squad, Captain Zaven. Just do what you have to do." His reply was rather brief, as he didn't believe he had the right to comment much. It didn't take long for Zaven to dart off, followed by Ozma who apparently wrote something in the air which made the silver mage raise an eyebrow. He was unable to speak, which made him quickly realize that the man behind Hinota was mute. Charles simply nodded in response as the older brother followed behind her. [break][break] "Good grief, what a pain in the ass. Normally, I wouldn't be worried, but I'll just make sure those two are alright." From what he heard from Rosalia, Zaven also went to Kikka so he knew that said could've affected even the most veteran members from the Magic Knights. Charles was fully aware of Sven's capabilities and his ability to mess around with people's minds, a disgusting ability for sure. One of the reasons the Black Bull bothered to learn Ki was because of him. The silver mage sighed as the ring on his index finger began to glow, as smoke began to creep up into his body giving something like a second skin before vanishing from sight, unable to be seen by the naked eye unless the person with enough sensory was able to see him. Now that he was unable to be seen Charles followed the last person who left, that person being Ozma, still maintaining his distance as he didn't plan on getting involved, this was none of his business and frankly, he couldn't find himself to care aside from the fact that he knew someone went through the same hell he did, the last thing the Black Bull could do was to ensure that the person in question is doing alright.

The bearer need only want to vanish for this ability to take effect. When active what can only be described as a translucent mist or smoke only noticeable by the bearer of the ring that seems to creep up over their body as if giving them a second skin as it does so this seems to make them invisible to the naked eye however those with a strong enough sensory would still be able to feel their mana via sensory or movements via the use of ki if they have the amount required and the perk of the ring isn't active. In addition to this while this ability is active the bearer gains an additional 5 m/s to their speed regardless of if they are sensed or the cloaking is seen through.

When Verena asked if art was important to her, Siobhan's face beamed briefly. "It's my life."
If not for her pursuit of it, the blonde had little doubt she would have never left the forest; then again, without art, who was she in the first place anymore? Attempting to separate such a fundamental part of who she had become, who she was since childhood when looking back to how many picture books she devoured and scrawling marks she'd made with oil sticks, was a fool's errand. Siobhan interacted with the world around her through her art, plain and simple. Capturing the transient beauty of something else in the timeless beauty of paint filled her with the sort of feeling nothing else had or could. It was the simplest, most honest way that she knew how to communicate.
Flowers faded in a season's time, entire landscapes could change in the blink of an eye, and people continued to change as time wrapped it's filthy hands around them. But a well kept painting, that could last for centuries if not longer.
At her words on finding a place, Verena hung her ornament in a recession in the branches, a little enclave to shield it from the falling snow. It was her following words that gave Siobhan pause though. An offer to show her a spot to supply an overabundance of muse when it was all said and done made the blonde's ears burn, but before she had a chance to reply the brunette was already flying down to the ground.
"Oh pox." The now lone witch whispered to herself. She drifted forward in the air, the rope securing her ornamental tribute to her home now draped over the sturdiest branch she could spot, projecting outwards in the massive tree. It wasn't her best work, but it deserved to be seen. It wasn't gilded and gaudy, which Siobhan had to admit was part of the charm of the way the people of Clover seemed to celebrate Yule, but it had an earnest quality to it. She placed two fingers over her lips before then placing them onto her little collage; a kiss home, even when the distance grew with each passing day of her own will and accord. Siobhan could only hope to grow and experience new sights and things as she went, but she could never forget where she'd grown.
Verena was beating her down easily, given her little meditative moment as she hung her ornament, but Siobhan managed to make landfall near the piano-plucking woman in short order at least. Shizu was still playing through the tune, and the blonde respected her to much to interrupt as she stood there and just listened, watching the movements of her fellow witch as she wove the song into the air around them. Music was a different form of art altogether to be experienced by the ear over the eye, but the sight of people stopping to watch and listen along with the player was lovely in it's own way.
Shizu glanced up in time to see both women descending from the tree just as she was getting to the end of her set, a smile promptly forming across her lips as she closed her eyes and leaned into the music, really getting a moment to enjoy the music before finally the piece came to it's conclusion, a scattering of applause rippling around her as she promptly stood up, and waved a hand, the piano promptly rippling as it twisted into a new shape, bending and warping until it formed into three separate violins. She grinned to her two companions and tilted her head to the side.
"Welcome back to the earth! Talk about anything interesting?" She asked excitedly as she looked between her companions and tilted her head to the side. She couldn't really hear them or anything with how far up they had been, and even if she could, the music would have muffled things anyway, so she allowed them ample time to explain or....dodge the question if they so chose to do. All the same, she'd lean to the side, slyly resting an elbow on one of the floating wood-glass violins as she would consider. "Iiiiiin any case I got us some food over there on a nice platter. I wasn't sure what you either liked so I got us a bit of everything! Iiiiii was actually thinking. Since the people here arte all nice and jolly, perhaaaaps after we eat, you tqwo lovely ladies wouldn't mind....helping me out with my next performance?" She ventured with an excited mirthful smile, all the while ushtering the two of them toward the prepared platter she'd made for their little group.
True to her word, there was a little bit of everything. Meats, greens, and in betweens. Not to mention a helping of water, or wine if they were feeling parTICularly festive~

Her life, was it? That only made sense. She could have deduced that much awhile ago. In fact, the fact alone she was making things by hand to begin with was just a testamount to her own dedication to this craft. Perhaps there was something to be said about the feeling and sensation of doing something not with your own magic, but instead your own hands. It wasn't something Verena could relate to, but perhaps that was why Siobahn seemed to treasure it. Perhaps the Reinsberg would never understand; born into Nobility of Clover did have limitations on what she could really understand. At least, however, she was self aware enough to know it was beyond her knowledge, and thus there was no need to question it--she simply couldn't understand even if it was explained.[break][break]
Verena landed a little bit away from the raven-haired witch, careful to avoid attention in the process, but moved closer to the source of music. She couldn't help it, after all. Shizu greeted the two with an enthusiasm she assumed to be normal for her. Verena would let the blonde answer on her behalf; at least, in regards to the conversation had. Siobahn would most definitely respond even if she didn't.[break][break]
The cat-eared witch also revealed that she had dished them up some food. Though the heiress wasn't a big eater, she was a bit hungry. Food sounded good. She also asked that they help with the 'next performance'.[break][break]
"...Well, that depends on what you'd have me do, naturally," Verena said. "Though... I suppose it would be fair since you were kind enough to dish me up some of the food."

The doll-like mage was on the ground by the time Zaven had reached her hugging her knees to her chest as she cried into the top of them her breathing shallow as she tried to get a hold of herself but that was easier said than done. It was too much for her to handle, she remembered telling Joseph and Willow during Raque they needed to compartmentalize, that they could deal with their own emotions afterwards but there were people relying on them then and there, that if they were worried about themselves while allowing it to affect them then they would be a liability to the same people they were trying to save one way or another. It had seemed as if the pep talk had helped them and she hoped they were doing well in its aftermath. She knew that Joseph though a late arrival had also taken part in Kikka and though still unsure of himself seemed to be in a better way than he had been within Raque so perhaps that was a good sign but she wouldn't know until she saw the other again, perhaps she would go to the Azure Deer headquarters the next time she had a day off but then she would have to hope that he wasn't busy at that time or out on a mission. She remembered how she had ended up in the daemon invasion of Raque, she hadn't been sent nor did she even know there was an attack going on. She had the day off and was wanting to see if her friend Seren was free to go shopping in Kikka turned out that she would have been in a daemon attack there too, the fates really did hate her it would seem.
She found out not long after the attack on Kikka her friend had passed away though she didn't know the details of how it happened, it was quite the blow for her as she didn't exactly have many friends, in fact, the friends she had made minus Elenor were all dead or missing in action. "Perhaps it's my magics fault." she whispered looking over the edge of her knees her hand in front of her with two effigies made of condensed miasma she watched as the female moved to the male, only to want past him and for him to drop dead shortly after her hand closed and with it the miasma dispersed. "My magic is taboo to my family but because of the oddness in smell they have been able to pass it as something different but the fact remains I'm cursed." she whispered to herself not realising that Zaven had followed her but then she had cursed him to feel the emotions she did after he had killed something she deemed as innocent due it just following its nature, he could have just chased it off but instead something terrible had happened that she still regretted and couldn't undo she just wasn't strong enough to undo the curse and she had no idea if he had even gone to see a stronger healer to see if they could do it. She honestly wished he would because she regretted her actions though she couldn't remember them for the life of her, no one deserved to feel the emotions of others to become more empathetic it just wasn't natural and in honesty, she wouldn't wish it on her worst enemy.
Hearing her captain's voice she looked up before standing quickly brushing herself off "Captain." she said trying to get herself to calm down and put everything back into her damaged boxes. "I didn't mean to affect you, I am so sorry." she said moving over to him shaking her head to his words "Captain you never dragged me into anything." she said quietly "You told me it was fine to walk off the path that was expected of me like you yourself had." she said closing her eyes "If I joined the blue roses then there might be a chance that I would have likely died in Raque." she said honestly looking up to the night sky "It's true I was there during that attack but it was because of the fates playing a cruel joke on me when I went to see my friend Seren to see if she wanted to go shopping in Kikka unbeknownst to anyone that the place was under attack at the same time." she said her voice filled with pain "I ended up on hangman's hill with your cousin and a few others, the place was littered with dead bodies that had been gutted, the water around the place was deep crimson and had organs floating on it." she explained knowing she hadn't debriefed since her senior who was now the vice-captain would have "I helped a man who was gutted right before my eyes though my healing was weaker than what was needed to heal such a grievous wound I managed to at least stabilize him though it took longer that I'd have liked to do so..." she held her sleeves "There was a woman, when we came across her she was being held by the neck by the mana beast and when she was dropped she the man ran towards her that's how he got so badly hurt she seemed unmoved by the death around her or that the man was in so much pain... she wasn't acting normal at all and only seemed to be distressed when I mentioned the vice-captain was coming to help, she actually wanted to leave the injured man to die and have us all leave before the vice captain came." she turned her eyes to the right "That's how she ended up in the water, I told her that my senior was coming and she became panicked, fell backwards and moved away from us into the water where I think she was attacked again but the vice captain saved her if I remember correctly."
"I mentioned to the vice-captain about my concerns in regards to the woman but he pretty much sent his spirit to give me a message letting me know that everyone deals with situations differently...." she looked to him "Which I can agree with but the way she was acting wasn't of that of someone in distress or having shut down, she didn't even shiver when she came out of the ice-cold water... she only panicked upon the mention he was coming." she was saddened and frustrated "I felt and still do feel as if my concerns and suspicions were dismissed because I was his junior and he believed he knew more even though he hadn't been there to witness everything where I had been, I even told the two others of my rank of my concerns and suspicions, I would have told your cousin but he took off towards the blue rose headquarters before the information could be relayed." she looked down her left hand going to hold her right arm as if to support herself, she respected her vice-captain and didn't want to throw him under the proverbial bus but at the same time she was airing everything out, her every emotion and what was eating her up at current. "It turns out my suspicions and concerns were right though... the woman was the daemoness..." she looked to him dead in the eyes "I'm not suited for battle or any conflict really, we both know it but I can read the tide of it and it is because of that I can pick up on things that just aren't right in situations that could be overlooked by others." it was something she had proved time and again "I don't know what happened as I wasn't even there when the daemoness actually showed herself, the only reason I know I was right in my suspicion was because I was notified by someone in the blue rose squad when I went to see Seren again." it had been at that time she was also notified that her friend had died.
"As for Kikka..." she paused wanting to choose her words wisely "You didn't make me sign up, nor did you drag me along on that siege." her voice was honest on the matter. "The Wizard King asked for people to volunteer and out of those that did I was selected due to my magics capabilities and my mind I would guess." she closed her eyes "So that was on me, not you..." she thought over what to say next in regards of him saying he didn't mean to cause her life to be turned upside down "I don't blame you for that, it was my decision and I knew it would come with consequences." her voice was saddened and it was clear it was a painful topic for her "You didn't cause them to raise a hand to me..." her voice breaking as she spoke "You didn't cause them to almost beat me to death..." she shook her head "You didn't cause them to heal me after the fact so there was no evidence..." her eyes were stinging from crying so much "You didn't cause my brother to verbally attack me when he saw the mantle I wore when I made my decision.... all of that was on me because I decided my own fate and what I wanted for my life." she said almost falling to her knees once more feeling weakened now she finally told him what happened on the day she became a member of the golden dawn unaware that Ozma and Charles were close by. "Every bad thing that has happened to me from that moment is on me, you aren't guilty of anything and let's face it I should be locked up for what happened during training." She shook her head "Excuse me captain, I will go get some water to clean your hands of the dried blood, it wouldn't look good in this situation." with a bow she moved towards the entrance of the alley only to stop like a deer caught in the headlight seeing Ozma and bowed "O... Ozma..." she didn't know what else to do given the situation knowing he likely just heard everything she said.

This was the worst time of the year just as it was the most festive. Saving lives in Raque hadn't changed their minds. It wasn't the only thing the junior had been involved with, but that didn't make the faces of the cold and unsaved any less haunting. It wasn't that he saved lives to change their minds, it was just a bit of a harsh reality. Most of the young man knew it wouldn't matter how much good he did, but a part really had hoped that he could change their narrow views and beliefs a little bit. It had felt so freeing for him when his own perspective had been widened. This wasn't something for everyone, but the family had been so dear to him. They had always been there for him, even when they believed that Josephs mind would never recover again. Pacifism had been deeply branded into the commoner family so entangled in the musical arts. He had on a long red hooded cape with a wide white trim. There was some simple white snowflake patterning on the item, a snowflake shaped copper clasp being the object that held it closed. The azure deer symbol was on the cape, a reminder that he was ready for work even when out to relax. This was the closest the young man had to a family at this point now. There was no happy ending with his fathers side, and his mothers was as unknown as ever.
Maybe this was how he ended up in the town of Babel. Gloves covered the hands, the plain white dress shirts sleeves covering evidence of how long or short those gloves were. His clothes were mostly every day, despite the time of year. The days were getting colder as well as shorter, with the night stretching just a bit more as time went on. This was the time of year people celebrated with joy and lights sparkling with light in order to chase the night and sorrows away. For those who had nobody to chase the dark ghosts with? It made the winter season harder to bear. The mind was haunted by the horrors of the year, as well as the joyful Christmas times of the past. A thick scarf was wrapped around his neck a few times, covering the neck whole as well as some of the bottom of the face. The reminder of the face was covered by the hood that was pulled down. Just because he had decided to come, didn't mean he wanted others to see his face. With him was a bag in one hand, which was holding the ornament meant for the mighty tree at the destination. The bases warp gate was an easy way to arrive at certain places without much travel time. His riding gloves were also in the bag, taken along to help get him home after everything was said and done. It's spell was his only quick way to get anywhere without using the bases gate.
Cobborn wasn't sure what to expect when arriving. There were a lot of people as well as places set up to sell foods and things to all those visiting to see the tree. There were lights and festive ornaments in celebration all about, on buildings, people, and even the massive tree. It was supposedly the biggest in the kingdom and certainly looked big enough for that to be the case. He had worn so much to cover his face to not be noticed, yet their pale pink eyes scanned the surroundings for anyone familiar. There were a few, but no blood family. It was a bit of a relief to not see that. Others that he did know but had spotted? This was the sort of celebration that seemed was typically included only for those close to your heart. Wouldn't it be rude to approach them? And yet his feet carried him towards a familiar tune that lead to the sounds of a very familiar voice. Just because Joseph knew what he should do, didn't mean he would do it. This wasn't strange for someone who had been tugged around by sounds in some of the earliest memories that could be recalled. What he found was quite a scene, one that they didn't walk close enough to become part of. This wasn't a space he belonged in, not one that involved such an out pour of emotions and events.
~Raque certainly had been blood soaked. Hinota and I were the only ones that hadn't vomited from the sight of the corpse coated hill surrounded by water. She saved more than just the one person, but every person that she helped escape from near the blue rose base before it exploded. The survivors that were already inside had been sealed in until it had stopped exploding, it's probably better that she didn't see the building go down. I only met her in Raque, but she did amazingly.~ His hands had moved instinctively, talking meant only to be seen and known to himself. It was a force of habit, being used to most people not even knowing sign language. Most didn't even realize the hand movements was a way of speaking at all. ~What she gave me was the ability to clear my head better during critical times, not just shoving emotions back.~ He wasn't expecting Hinata to see his hands moving and she was the only one there that he knew understood sign language. The idea that anyone might see, look at, and understand the words made by his hands never crossed his mind. He had been told her older brother was mute, but that didn't mean he even knew what they looked like. Zaven was nearby but the red head was pretty certain that Blake didn't know sign language.
It always felt like a way to talk privately in public. He didn't have any desire to soak up and stuff away the emotions that made vocalization impossible at the moment. He wasn't working, this wasn't a mission. Off time was meant for trying to relax and unwind, the young man wasn't even sure if they could even muster the energy to even pretend to care about what others considered of the silence.

Siobhan waited for a beat or two after Shizu's question, intending to let Verena speak up. When the brunette didn't, the blonde merely offered Shizuyoru a small grin.
"I told her an old story from back home to go with the setting sun." Her explanation was simple and succinct, yet she turned her eyes skyward briefly, looking past the glitz and glamour of the celebration around her. "The one about how the ancient witch Tamine spun the stars into the sky. It was one of my favorites when I was a child. The collection of stories it was in was done by a paint-witch far before our time." She sighed briefly as in her mind's eye she saw the ghost of the old illustrations against the night sky.
She shook out of her reverie when her black-haired compatriot brought up the subject of food, the sound of her stomach growling briefly in protest. Oh bother....when was the last time she remembered to eat? Not that day at the least, with her scramble to create her ornament. She'd slept in too late for breakfast or even lunch; she'd spent too much time watching the streets at night as varying people went about the final stretch of time before the official celebration had begun.
"I'm utterly famished Shizu." She admitted with a soft groan, placing a hand over her stomach briefly as a look of meek shame crossed her face. The scents coming from the platter enticed her, and Siobhan spared no time before unceremoniously shoveling a few chunks of cheese into her mouth alongside a massive bite of a surprisingly sweet apple.
As the question of helping the other witch was raised, the blonde continued biting and chewing, pausing for a moment as the other finished. She swallowed her mouthful, washing it down with a quick swig of water. Something felt lodged part of the way down, unpleasantly so, but the liquid seemed to do the trick and give her a reprieve from the painful discomfort she'd wrought on her self. She really did need to eat slower, regardless of how hungry she let herself get.
"What do you need me to do Shizu?" Unlike Verena, Siobhan was naturally inclined to help Shizu out; it didn't hurt that they'd grown up together admittedly. She couldn't blame the other woman for being cautious around the two of them in truth. For the paint witch, it merely felt right to assist however she could. Witches were family, and though she wasn't raised to merely do everything asked of her by another one Siobhan would entertain their requests at least. Shizuyoru was a special case even there, for beyond being a fellow witch she was a fellow artist. The line between familiar affection and professional courtesy was braided for the black haired woman who'd so graciously acquired Siobhan her only meal of the day on top of everything else.
[attr="class","zavenreescroll"] Listening to Hinota he finally understood what was going on, she was shouldering this all on her own shoulders. He understood this feeling and when she finally realized he was there with his exasperated pleading she addressed him again, causing Zaven to stop the waterworks as he listened to her. He wanted to interject, but he felt the familiar mana signatures of Ozma and Charles he even gave a slight sigh. She had said enough now that there was likely to be fallout from this...but at this point things had already accelerated past controlling the situation and he now felt that he had to at least soften the blow. He wanted to stop her from continuing on, to reach out and hug her, reassure her but he did not. ”Damn it Zaven! Stop her, it is not her fucking fault...she truly means well and she needs to know she is not alone in this. Hug her, you know she acts, you have seen it yourself...her other side, she doesn’t know or want to know still. She thinks she is a liability. DO SOMETHING YOU FUCKING DOLT!” Zaven growled inwardly at himself before finally taking action, she had already taken off past him to go grab water to clean his hand. ”Hinota Yuiee, stop please.” He did not care that her brother was there at that point or Charles for that matter. ”That is enough, you have been through...so much, enough that even I have to admit that I was wrong to try and force combat training upon you. However, I do not mind the eyes upon me at the moment. Stay and hear me out...please.” Zaven would ask, borderline demand as he looked to Charles and Ozma who followed him, there was a rage in his eyes, but it quickly cooled as he became compassionate. [break][break]
”I cannot stand idly by any longer on this matter. What had happened during our training was an accident of which was my own fault. You becoming a member of the Golden Dawn was your choice, but it was one I had influenced as well. However, the Wedding Well incident was not aimed to hurt you in any way, and I remember how you were injured. I took you along because I thought the dungeon would actually be less of a slug fest and more of a chance to talk, yet at any turn I could I protected you or tried to shield you from that harm, I even ruined an outfit of yours which I have yet to replace. Then you were in an unfortunate event that became the Raque incident and later Kikka...you have seen things that...no magic knight should have to see. However, it is enough there is nothing wrong with you or your magic. You are STRONG, you are BRAVE, and most of all...you are IMPORTANT to me, and I value getting to see you grow. You are suited to be a tactician and on the field that is more important than the soldiers that you control...I cannot let you carry that burden alone. That is why I wanted to spend time with you here at the tree decorating ceremony...yet even now it seems that we cannot run away from this.” Zaven said as he just laid his card out on the table, he did not yell these things, but Charles and Ozma would most definitely hear him as he looked to Ozma. ”As for what I have heard, and even if I do not understand your family, I grew up in a split family and was raised to be an assassin...being a tool is what I am good at, but I made my own path...left my past behind and looked for something better, if your sister chose to do the same...then you should be happy for her, and lift her up. I held my tone earlier, but you do not know anything if you stick to a chosen path that is decided by your elders...you are your own being. Charles...I know what you went through at Kikka...and I am sorry for all that has happened, you know as well as I do the atrocities that happened there. These experiences change you...battle changes any human that has a soul...I am no exception. None of you are broken, and none of you have anything to be sorry for. You have strengths and weaknesses….I apologize for not cleaning my hands, but I am not sorry for what I have said.” Zaven looked so sure and serious at that moment, his stance was guarded and pain could be felt in his eyes, he stood in the alley.
Shizu smiled warmly as she made not of both girls eyeing the platter. All the more they seemed to enjoy her performance as well. Still, she relaxed, giving Sio and Verena time to enjoy some of the food as she considered things. Verena definitely seemed to be a bit hesitant to be involved in the production. Naturally that was to be expected she supposed, after all the girl seemed..... a bit resistant to the notion of opening up. She HAD hoped the girl would relax a little with the conversation with Sio, but it seemed this girl was a lot more guarded than she'd expected, and if she went a bit too hard that might backfire. She hummed just a little as she took a sip of her wine, swishing it around her mouth a bit before she swallowed and took some mashed potatoes, pouring a bit of gravy over them and taking a few bites. Once she had swallowed, she shook her head.
"Of course his is entirely voluntary, don't let the food make you feel like you're obligated. Buuuut, I was thinking of playing something else in a little bit. I COULD just summon extra instruments to play alongside me. But well, it still doesn't quite have the same charm as multiple performers, yes? So I was curious if either of you would want to perhaps be in the next act? My magic can handle the actual playing if you're not that confident with your skills, but if you DO have a bit of instrumental experience I can help keep us in synch." She noted cheerfully, smiling as she took another bite and then paused, drumming her fingers. "I thought it could be fun! Of course if not thats fine, there's other things we can do. Lots of food. Lots of wine. And of course a pretty tree to look at." she reasoned, drumming her fingers as her attention shifted briefly to Verena, who happened to be between her and the tree.

The truth was Verena was just creating an excuse for herself to help Shizu out. It was a habit of hers now; creating excuses to help others, instead of "out of a sense of compassion or just because". The last time she had acted for such a reason, it was Kikka. There was an aspect of her that just did not and could not let herself do something as foolish as that again.[break][break]
Even still, the crimson-eyed beauty couldn't outright tell a stranger no. She longed to be relied on in any form because there was so little that she could do. If she could be helpful if she could be useful, she wanted to--no, had to. If for no other reason than to prove to herself she was not someone to be pitied. At the end of the day, she was still a Noble and carried the pride that came with it.[break][break]
"...The story of Tamine is a lovely one. Your culture is as rich as I imagined," Verena added to Siobhan's own explanation of what the two had talked about.[break][break]
Verena, meanwhile, had found a spot on the ground as she began taking small bites out of the meal prepared. Even eating, there was still frailty mixed in with grace. Yet it seemed mechanical; as though she was eating not because she enjoyed it, but instead as though it was practiced a hundred times. The way she moved her arms, gathered her hands--even down to how she chewed--it was as if she had practiced this sort of thing time and time again, and her motion was the result of some sort of fear of punishment. This in truth had nothing to do with Kikka, but rather it was just how she was raised. She had to be more perfect than the others in her manners and etiquette to compensate for the Reinsbergs image.[break][break]
"...I see. I apologize," Verena began to say after taking a momentary break from eating. "I have no musical talent to speak of, so I'd only ruin the performance..."[break][break]
Verena had tried. She had tried as best as she could, so she could do something with Suna. She didn't want to just share in conversation about music and sound, but to be able to play a song with her one day. But she had no skill for it. Despite how much she practiced, it just always fell flat. And thus, the woman simply stopped.[break][break]
A pause.[break][break]
"However, that doesn't mean I can't memorize the notes. If you have a score you could show me, I could create a golem who could do so for me. Is... is that acceptable?" she asked.[break][break]
In truth, the idea of having so many people stare at her, to watch her, to observe her was unthinkable. Uncomfortable. It always caused a reaction that she didn't know how to describe, and it wasn't as if she could play the instrument anyway. She had no place on a stage like that to begin with. Not with an actual Sound Mage. Not with an actual artist.

[attr="class","glentext"] Charles managed to reach Hinota and Zaven as the two saw each other. Of course, the silver mage was still invisible to the naked eye, but it was possible Zaven already felt him by the time he arrived there. Hinota was of course under a lot of pressure, it was hard to simply shrug off an experience like Kikka, the Black Bull had already gone past the worse, but every once in a while he still had nightmares about what happened in there. He just got used to it and learned how to cope with such nightmares. He knew it wasn't his fault and to ensure that he doesn't fuck up next time he was learning new abilities and techniques to make up for such weaknesses. [break][break] Hinota said a lot of things, to which he paid attention to, such as not being suited to combat, her magic being a curse, and such. For some reason, he felt he didn't have much of a right to say anything about this due to the fact that he barely knew her. The attacks of the Daemons affected everyone, especially the Magic Knights who took part in those battles in a personal way. A lot of them had never experienced war, no amount of training could compare to the desperation one could feel when civilians were running trying to save themselves. Fear is powerful, but unexpected fear was far superior. It was something that caught off-guard even the most experienced members of the Magic Knights. Thanks to the help from both his Captain and Vice-Captan he managed to pull through and gain the motivation to become better, he owed those two and he was going to pay them one day. It was now Zaven's turn, judging by her choice of words the Captain already knew he was there without even seeing him. Charles wasn't particularly the one to judge unless the Golden Captain decide to step the boundaries. He understood his situation and considering the amount of time he spent with Zaven at the Archaeology expedition the Black Bull found respect for him, even though he was the Captain from one of the most respected and adored squads in the Kingdom. It felt quite nice to talk with him and he didn't have any particular issues in getting along with Zaven. [break][break] The Captain carried on, he clearly had a lot of emotions inside him. Charles didn't consider stopping him, he wanted to hear him out until the very end. The silver mage heard things about Zaven he heard before, he was raised to be an assassin. He noticed the similarities between him and Malcolm, the two were different people that ended up becoming Captains who now serve the Clover Kingdom. It was amazing how things changed for them. It wasn't surprising he knew about his participation in Kikka as part of the original group. He was sure he read the report and likely that Captain Malcolm told him a thing or two. [break][break] As the Captain pretty much acknowledged his presence and finished his talk. Charles was now visible as he was leaning on the wall looking at Zaven, proving that even though he wasn't fully visible he paid attention to what he had to say. The silver mage was to visibly his pain in his face and inside. "I appreciate your words, Captain. I wasn't expecting this to happen at all, but I already went through the worse. As you said, we all have strengths and weaknesses. It's all about reinforcing our weaknesses and improving our strengths. Kikka was a hellhole and anyone who was there knows how bad it was. No one is exempt, we are all humans. Kikka is the entire reason as to why I learned Ki." The Black Bull shared the sentiment with the Captain, but Sven was now gone for good. Charles gave Zaven a smile of approval, there was no point in carrying on. They were at a festival, they should enjoy their time here and the peace after liberating Kikka. "Anyway, I think you should get that blood cleaned off. I'm sure anyone would be worried if they saw the Captain of the Golden Dawn with blood on him, especially in a festival like this." It has been a while since he last saw Zaven, when the two first met Charles simply a Junior ranked mage, but now he was more experienced.
Ozma stayed quiet by the wall near the alley and listened and the more he heard the angrier he got which just got worse as he heard that she had been surrounded by dead bodies on what was called hangmans hill in raque which nearly had his hands bleeding from how tight they were bound into fists, he knew how strict there family was about blood and death and while he himself could be a bit more lenient considering his sisters more pacifistic nature the fact that she had been surrounded by such things was something that never should have happened. She told her captain that everything was on here but Ozma knew better then that and that if Zaven had never put the idea in her head to walk so far off the path then this wouldn’t have happened, in the elder Yuiees mind the captain of the Golden Dawn was responsible for every bad thing that had happened even if his sister didn’t believe that.
As they came out and Hinota saw him and bowed Ozma bowed back before he signed and it was easy to see from his motions that he was angry but his eyes showed he wasent angry at her.”Dear Sister I believe your Captain can clean his own hand he doesn’t need you to do it for him” he signed and even though he couldn’t speak the venom present when he signed the word captain was clear as day. The mute mage then turned his attention to Zaven and his eyes were instantly cold as ice and he pulled he brush before he flicked it to make words appear, however unlike normal where they would shift between color instead they were angry plusing red and jagged as If to show just how enraged the young man was at the captain. “Respectfully and I use that term bearly because I now hold none for you. You Captain don’t know a thing about our family and the rules and traditions that we have if you did then you would have thought twice about your suggestion that my sister walk so far off the beaten path , she wanted freedom I understand that and while I feel guilt about my words toward my sister every strike and every wound she had inflected on her I hold you accountable. Under your command she has no doubt seen more horrors then she ever should have and its wearing on her for gods sake she cant take much more!”
Ozma flicked away his message before he made another.”She isn’t a front line fighter and she is better in the back ranks she shouldn’t be near any kind of fighting. You say you care but make no mistake if something terrible happens to my sister I will personally make sure you are held responsible and I will see you wallow in despair for the rest of your life!” he wrote before he took the crest Zaven had given him and he dropped it before he destroyed it under his been with one powerful stomp. “consider this my refusal to work with any of your squad with the exception of my sister and if it is a problem ill respectfully tell my captain my reasons for such a refusal” he wrote as he waited for the captains response, his stance was slightly on guard incase the captain decided to attack but at this point Ozma didn’t care he was breathing hard and his hands were shaking as he vented just how angry the Golden Dawn captain made him.

After the next few exchanges Zaven had seen a few things...rage, growth, stupidity, and...laughable retaliation. Ozma’s furious rebuttal was fast and fueled by a rage that was fueled by a shallow vision of a fool, and while he had taken the kindness and returned it with a disgusting display of defiance he took his eyes from Ozma and looked to Hinota. Had he been a few years younger, even if he was a magic knight, he would be a corpse before his foot came down on that token. The Shadow of Dawn held a gaze for a moment, sadness never turned to rage...even with the crunching sound of his token, he just stood there before finally revealing a soft smile.
”you are still the elder brother of Hinota so I will treat you with dignity, but...you are a fool for not understanding, I admitted my mistakes and I agreed she was no fighter destined for the front lines...yet you think I am going to continue putting her in situations that require her to fight.” The captain shook his head before continuing, however he did not forget Charles in the slightest. ”Ozma, you care too much for tradition that you can’t see with your own eyes, and you will not budge. Therefore I will not waste my time trying to mince words with you. I have no qualms with your tantrum declaration to never work with the Golden Dawn except your sister, but remember...that would again see your sister on a battlefield, our missions are not always diplomatic. Do not forget your duty as a knight because you have a problem personally with me. As for that...you are welcome to hate me, to want to kill me as I see it in your eyes...but I have nothing left to hurt, seek me out when you are stronger and use your actions, because you do not yet have the capacity or the diplomacy required to speak for your family or how you will do your job.” There was no venom in his words, just a practiced monotone voice that showed Ozma had already outlived whatever interest the captain held in him due to his shallow words and thinking.
”Charles, I am happy for your growth and that you have found a peace in what you have done. I wish to catch up at some point my friend, but at the moment, Ozma, Hinota, and yourself are right, I should tend to myself and so I will dismiss myself and see to my hand, it is a pleasure to see you again, and I hope we get to talk more.” he then walked forward from the alley, clutching his chest as his scar burned. ”Hinota, I will still be around if you wish to find me, though I may stay in Babel tonight, I will see you off at the portal nevertheless...and Ozma...I’m sure this won’t be the last time you and I cross paths, please take care of yourself.” The Shadow of Dawn had no more words to say to the male Yuiee, and he could not talk to Hinota with him there, and even though he wanted to catch up with the once lazy Charles...it seemed that fate had other plans that night as Zaven disappeared into the crowd...not saying a word more…
A few moments later…
He had found a place to clean his hand and he took care to do so, but he wondered a moment about his spirit companion...that creature had not shown up for some time…The captain’s mana would surge a moment, his anger now made him see red as he flexed and gripped the sink, causing it to crack and flake off as the shadows around him flickered a moment.
From Hhraban…
The raven shadow spirit had found Hinota and while she was still near her brother the little spirit transformed and actually sat on her shoulder before whispering in a lighthearted tone. ”my master is sad...yet you didn’t do anything to make him this way...why is that?” the spirit asked Hinota in an innocent way, before finally speaking once more. ”He did not wish for any ill will and yet it followed him, he believes he is cursed...even now I feel his emotions and he is conflicted about what to do, yet he just wants to be with you…” The Spirit finished, almost starting more trouble with the elder brother, but it did not

At the time the doll-like mage was requested to stop she still hadn't seen her brother or had known of Charles and Joseph's presence but that came to a difference at least when it came to two of the three men as Charles was still under the effects of his relics abilities. She stopped hearing her first and last name being spoken and gripped her sleeves listening to his words quietly but turned quickly to look at him her head tilted to the right a little "I told you upon the start of that training I was not equipped for battle and yet you insisted, you forced me to train and even though now I hate the fact I was made to do it forbidden to leave I can understand and do not hate you." it was as simple as that for the young woman, in this line of work she would end up in situations where she would be on the front lines like she had been in Raque and Kikka and like those places, she was unable to run from them or people would have died. "It, however, doesn't mean I have to like it either captain but I do understand it given my current line of work." her voice was stoic and not at all how it normally was it was clear she was compartmentalizing like how she had in the past when things needed clear thinking. She went quiet once more as he asked for her to hear him out and would do so dutifully he was her captain after all and it would look terrible if she would walk off.
Upon him bringing up what happened at their training session she felt her legs wanting to run, it was still a wound that hadn't started to heal because she still found it surreal as she didn't have offensive capabilities. "Captain, I almost killed you..." she said clearly she wasn't wanting to hide that fact any longer "Not once but twice during that training session." she was gripping her sleeves harder her head turned from him her voice shaking as she spoke it "I have no offensive capabilities but I have no reason to doubt your word if you said I done such a heinous crime..." she was still trying to come to terms with that situation as a whole which was far worse on her than Raque or Kikka had been because she almost killed not only a person but one of the squad captains. "I know you said it was a rarity that such things happen allowing a mage to touch their full potential briefly under certain circumstances but if my potential is to harm and kill things I don't want it." this was a sentiment that she had told him all those months ago and it was clear it was something that she still stood by. "I'd rather be taken to the forsaken realm and ended before I ever reach those abilities." It was clear to see she was far from comfortable with herself and her magics future capabilities.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath "Yes, it is true you influenced my choice but had my family given me the same freedoms as my brother then I wouldn't likely be in the Golden Dawn in all honesty, I am best suited to the Coral Peacocks but you were the first to tell and show me I could make these decisions and gave me an invitation to join your squad and so I joined the Golden Dawn." it was true had she been given the chance she would have attempted to join the squad best known for healing and seeking knowledge, it was also true due to her tactical mind and advanced healing capabilities she was suited to the renowned magic knight squad she currently found herself a member of. She couldn't help but sigh when the wedding well was brought up "I don't blame that on anyone such things are just a hazard of the profession and we managed to help put those in that infernal place to find some extent of peace and for that I was happy." she explained to him. When they had returned back to the Royal Capital she had sought treatment from a high ranking healer so there were no scars on her body and the outfit that had been ruined was thrown out after all possessions could be replaced there where things like lives that couldn't be. "Again, what I have been through in regards to Raque and Kikka are part of the potential parcel in regards to being in the profession we are in.." she paused for a second to think "If I was able to go back and change my course not to take any of the moves I have done in the last year..." she opened her eyes and looked directly into her elder brother's eyes a serious look in her eyes "I would take the exact same movements without hesitation, it is an honour to serve the kingdom and its people regardless of the danger or harm I may obtain due to it and nothing will sway me from that path." her voice was filled with conviction daring her brother to speak out against her words.
All she could do is shake her head on how she was called strong and brave, she wasn't either in her mind she just knew when to lock parts of herself away and deal with the situation at hand albeit, it ended up in situations like the current one she found herself in. "I thank you for the vote of confidence captain but I am neither I just lock the emotional parts away when needed so I can get the task at hand done." she said honesty "As for my growth it is happening but slower than I would like to admit, I have done four dangerous things since joining the magic knights and my healing has been left wanting." It had been true, in the fire temple she could only heal the group against the damage of the place and not much else, in the wedding well she had been of no use at all, Raque she had managed to stop a man from dying but it took her a long time to stabilize him and Kikka she had been shown just how weak her healing was in the face of people like Jett and Charlotte who had honed their healing magic to the point they could resurrect the dead. "I have a tactical mind due to tutors, parents and not being allowed off my family estate until it was the day of the grimoire ceremony when I was fifteen." It was clear as day she had lived a very isolated and bubbled life through no fault of her own she honestly if it was because her family were overprotective or if they were ashamed of her, either way, it was the reason she was as educated as she was and could read the tide of battle, as well as she did.
She stood silent as Zaven now spoke to her brother her eyes widening as he told a truth about himself that most likely wasn't known widely. He was born and raised in a broken home only destined to be a tool of that family in the form of an assassin but that he had changed his own path, it put into perspective what he had told her on the day that they first met in the royal gardens by the gazebo. He told Ozma that he should be supportive of her decision and that he himself was his own person and should start thinking for himself instead of doing what was expected of him all the time. It was then she looked in the direction that her captain was realising that when he mentioned Charles's name realising he was using some sort of illusion spell to hide himself from people. She didn't believe that he was eavesdropping but given how she had brought up three people from the original Kikka group he was more concerned and wanted to make sure that everything was okay. She couldn't argue with his words that battle changes people and that everyone had their own strengths and weaknesses but to her, the true strength was recognising this and building on it. She saw no shame in her weaknesses but also knew that there would just be ones that she couldn't get over so knew she would have to make up for those weaknesses by enhancing other things that she could and hope that was good enough for whatever may come her way, so far it had worked at least in her mind.
It was on scanning the area she seen Joseph and smiled a little before waving to the peach haired man, she knew him from Raque's invasion and later found out he too had been inside Kikka but within the other group. "Hello Joseph, I'm happy to see you again." she called over to him, she honestly didn't want to drag the other into whatever mess this was but she had caught the last part of his signing and knew it was already too late for that. She had done this as Charles was talking to Zaven and although she wasn't giving the pair her, full attention she at least gave it enough that she could take everything in as she knew at least some of it would be important to her. Her eyes soon went to her brother as he began to sign and sighed seeing his words ~Ozma stop it, you are overstepping your boundaries.~ she signed back quickly ~You don't get to tell me if he can or can not and if I should or should not do something, we aren't at home.~ she continued clearly frustrated at her older brother for what he was saying to her. It was what he did next that left the doll-like mage speechless for a moment, she was stunned at what he had written not able to believe that he would dare to do that. "OZMA!" she yelled angry at his words it was clear that he overstepped a line, it would actually be the first time that Ozma would have ever seen his younger sister angry she closed her eyes feeling that same feeling she had way back when the training session with Zaven happened 'Not now, it's too dangerous... please sleep... don't fight or argue... I don't want to harm.' she internally begged with the unknown side of herself. Feeling it subside at least for now she opened her eyes "You are disgracing our family with your words and actions, I'm ashamed to be your sister due to this." It honestly wasn't words she expected to say to him but she just couldn't remain quiet on the matter, this was her captain and squad he seemingly was holding a grudge with due to her decisions and she wouldn't allow it.
"Ozma, it's true he may not know of our family or the traditions that come with it, however, I do and it was I not him that took the actions so stop acting like a brat and blame the one at fault." she shook her head "He has been nothing but kind to me even if it is unusual he's never done it in a callous or malicious way he did his best with the understanding had." it was as simple as that to her, she had made her own decisions it was true she wouldn't be in the golden dawn had he not encouraged her to take her own path instead of one of the ones laid out for her but she was the one who had taken the advice. "He isn't accountable for it, I am a magic knight Ozma so I will be in danger at times and I will get hurt that's unavoidable. It would be the same if I had joined the Blue Roses, it might have been worse because of where their headquarters are..." she moved her hand to her hairpins and started taking them out of her hair allowing them to drop on the ground with little care her hair falling loosely on her back before bringing her sleeve to her face wiping the makeup from her face, even without being done up she still looked like a doll but the change was there. "If this is how my family act to my captain and squad I want nothing more to do with you or it, you should be ashamed of yourself Ozma." she shook her head for a moment looking down at the pins, she remembered the last time she did this act of defiance before looking at him once more signing ~You speak of how he took my innocence but that was taken by my own family... which includes with your harsh words.~ she looked to the side a little ~had I been allowed the same freedom as you this could have been avoided and even you know that so no the ones to blame for this are mother and father first for trying to force me to marry or be under mothers ever-watchful eye and second for almost beating me to death. I wonder how their captains would take that news, I have held my tongue and been dutiful as a daughter but I can no longer do this.~ she moved forward and stopped just by her brother's ear "If you refuse to work with my squad then you are also refusing to also work with me, I as I am also a member of the golden dawn and wear my mantle proudly. I want no preferential treatment so until you stop your tantrum and make peace with my captain we aren't siblings and you can consider this my refusal to work with you." her voice was low and colder than it had ever been to his knowledge.
She had walked off shortly after not hearing the next part that her captain had said in the hopes to get some water to help clean her captain's hand but watched as he seemingly walked off, she decided to remain in the line nonetheless because perhaps there was something that she could get the small group that they would like to eat and drink. She had to admit she felt kind of bare having nothing in her hair, moving her hand into her sleeve bringing out the flower Zaven had given her and moved to entwine it into the left side of her hair before making shimmering petals appear within her hair of different colours and type almost making them appear like gems under the light. Just as she was near the front she heard a voice she had never done so before "Who is your master and why don't they ask me this themselves?" she asked the spirit not knowing what to make of the shadow spirit "Your master isn't the only one who believes themselves cursed." she said honestly with a sad tone it was now she realised that her first question had been answered, this spirit was partnered with her captain "I think those emotions may also be mine, I am sorry about that.. it seems like that is a very strong curse and I am wondering why he hasn't requested it purified yet." she knew there were medics strong enough to undo it she was sure of that unless this was something that only she was meant to undo but she had never heard of curses work that way, then again she honestly didn't know much about curses perhaps this was something she could talk to Elenor about as many of her family specialise in but that wouldn't happen until she went home.
