In this world, Magic is Everything. All people, all races, are granted with the power to perform mystical and magical feats via grimories, mystical tomes granted to each and every child on their 15th birthday. Those blessed by the mana can have their names written down in legend.

Esart knew of the power that magic could bring and had seen some of the extravagant things it could do but it was a completely different experience for him to see such a spectacle first hand. Esart watched as the two spells clashed with each other and at first he thought that it would be a battle that Lydia's spell would not be able to handle but his thoughts would change completely as her spell cut through the opposing spell and split it in half. The clashing of the spells would then cause an explosion to erupt out that ripped the church apart around them but the duo of nobles and the citizens were left safe thanks to Lydia's quick thinking. Esart looked around the results of the spells clashing to see that half the church was gone and debris now laid everywhere around them from the power the two spells had. "That..." He was choked up on his words. "I have never seen something like that before.... I want to gain power like that.." He mumbled out loud as he stood behind Lydia. He turned his gaze to the bodies of the last two enemies he was fighting earlier confirming that they were swiftly dealt with due to what had just happened. The sight of his downed enemies brought his mind back to the present where he remembered about the citizens that were near them that they needed to help. Without a word he turned away from his partner and made his way to the hostages. He noticed that the coral that was on their bodies earlier now laid on the ground around them which he was able to figure out was due to them defeating all of the enemies in the area. "It doesn't seem like there is anymore enemies around us but this place is even more of a mess than it was before we got here. Collateral damage is what I would call it. Either way, let's get these people down." He spoke out to Lydia as he approached some of the people and removed them from their restraints on the wooden poles they were tied to. They were unconscious for the most part but after getting most of them down some would wake up from their their slumber thrashing about in fear from the sights around them. "Calm down, calm down! We are here to help you!" Esart would call out which they seemed to acknowledge but gave him a look of pure dread that he could see through their eyes alone.
Some would take up a fetal position on the floor, not caring for the gore that their bodies were possibly laying in while others would sit on the ground and pull their knees to their faces to bury their face away from anyone that could see them. ”Kill me...kill me...kill me…” They would all start to chant as if their lives were still in the hands of the daemons that had captured them. Like their lives were completely null and void even after being saved. "What the hell...?" Esart would speak out as they lightly spoke for their deaths to be dished out to them. "We saved you! You are no longer in danger right now so why would any of you idiots want to die still?!" He yelled out at them but his words would be lost on them as they continued to beg for their own demises. Esart would bring his hand up to his face and rub his eyes as anger would start to build up in him. He quickly went over his thoughts and figured if they wouldn't wouldn't listen then they would have to do the next best thing. "Lady Ravencrest. We should get these people out of here. I have no way of transporting people out all but someone of your experience and power should know of some way of at least getting some of these people out of here. I can stay here and protect the ones that are left if you cannot transport all of them in one go but they cannot stay here. This place will probably on cause them to go more and more mad." He would speak his option to his stronger companion and hoped that she was better at getting people out of areas than he was. He was still lacking in skill in power compared to others but that did not mean he did not understand tactics and because of that he knew of how to possibly be able to handle the situation but did not have the means himself which he needed Lydia to supply.

Willow was staggering at this point. She had used up a majority of her mana, wasting most of it on suppressing fire just to keep them all safe. Of course, she could sap mana from beasts whenever she landed a hit. But when she missed more shots than she fired at this point there was a fall off. By the time that Cyrus arrived and they had cleared everything from the area, WIllow was struggling with her breath. Attempting to stay standing while her grimoire sought refuge on the clasp hanging from her hip.
While Joseph was speaking, she was planting her hands to her legs, trying to stop them from quaking and tumbling over to the ground. Everyone was doing their hardest. But because of what Willow was going through she was trying to double-time it. And that was something she was paying for now!
When Cyrus arrived, she looked up at him, her eyes a little sunken, not like she was terrified, but she was exhausted. Looking to him, then to Naxel. Her breathing was heavy and she was trying to catch her breath. "I am, having the requirements for a breath catching."
When Hinota spoke to her, her gaze turned to the doll-like mage. Nodding ever so gently as the woman spoke to her. "Ynxikjhuux. O jteqq riim pa ehhinhoun wuyyjix un hti vokq. O ep un pa qejh qivj eh hti pupinh. Mqieji zi yekiwyq, O ep eqpujh uyh uw pene enx niekqa mejjix uyh. O'qq hka hu riim auy ymxehix un tik ow jti xuij enahtonv uyh uw hti ukxoneka." She nodded once more.
Making her way from where she was to one of the golems, clambering up onto it so that they could all make their way out of here. Maybe she could get some rest on the trip.
With the threats gone and the church no longer a safe zone for anyone, but as Estart was marveling at the power that Lydia had used, a crash rumbled through the waves as a ship made of carbon matter landed near the entrance of the ruined church. Lydia heard the qualms of Estart and was in agreement for the most part, the noble Silva had a point...as much as she hated to admit it, so she began to gather up the broken villagers, trying to make sure the church was at least defensible if Estart needed it, the crash bringing their attention outside the church. A man stepped down, wearing a battered priest’s vestment, his hair was worse for wear of course, and there were a few on the ship looking into the church as well. The man jumped off his spell, looking at the group as Lydia had knocked out the villagers that were muttering for their own demise. He looked like he was about to sling a spell at the two nobles when he noticed that the Sea Emperors and Tridents were dead. He instantly put away his grimoire and went to the pair and bowed. ”We don’t have much time...there were more Sea Emperors coming here and I have rescued all the souls I could...Get these villagers onto the boat so we can leave, my name is Alex…” He did not get to finish as the sound of rain began to drown out their voices...adding a rising water level as well. The whirlpool was closing on the church. They would need to move quick as the mysterious priest began to take villagers to his ship. A sinister Aura surrounded the man and the ship, but there was no other route out as Lydia looked at the man with her authoritative stare...what in the hell was going on. They were all loaded quickly and left as the whirlpool collapsed on itself, crushing the church and everything around it instantly. The Hangman’s Hill-Hinota, Willow, Naxel (Leaving the area), Joseph, Cyrus
Joseph was horrified at his senior’s actions...Naxel pummeled the corpses until the threat was no longer viable. Willow was drained and needed to steady herself, Hinota had just finished all she could within reason of healing the man, and after she spoke and the woman retreated looking scared. Joseph could see with his map what was about to happen as the blip of an enemy could be seen. Naxel and Hinota were too far away, but Cyrus, the Golden Dawn senior Hinota mentioned earlier had arrived on scene and was having his golems complete the rest of the job here, eventually saving the woman as she clung to Cyrus. There was a brief exchange as the woman kissed Cyrus’s cheek for saving him, she was soaking wet but still not shivering...which was odd enough.
Things moved quickly at this point. Willow and Hinota exchanged some words as the man Hinota was healing had finally opened his eyes, they were bloodshot and he looked in pain, but he did not make a sound as the female was about to move over to another golem. Naxel said a few words to his junior before summoning his chariot to get back to the Blue Rose Base, leaving Joseph with a bit more than a muddled brain over this entire situation. However, it seemed as though the group was going to move on from here and plans were made. They were off
The Blue Rose Base-Naxel….entire party.
Naxel was the first to arrive at the base as he found the female knight from before as he reported to her and asked for the priest that was there earlier that Cyrus had brought into the base. The woman looked scared but nodded before quickly taking Naxel to a small dungeon that was in the basement of the base, and as he arrived he saw that the priest...was no longer there. The ropes were there, nothing looked as though it had been disturbed...but there was an orb sitting there. It emanates a strong magical power, an attractive...yet cold aura. The female magic knight looked worried as she ran to go grab more knights as the base was placed on lockdown. The orb held an immense power...that much was for sure, but for what use…
The rest of the party would arrive at the same time. Cyrus would immediately notice the priest that he had tied up before with all sorts of villagers and Lydia and another mage on a carbon matter ship. The people, a total of 50 began to run for the base as they reached the shore. Lydia approached the priest, the sinister feeling still lingered.
Cyrus’s group would arrive as they would all be received by a small band of blue rose knights that were there to receive them...but something was amiss. The air felt stale. Their bases had been covered, but still a feeling of dread hung in the air.
Then the man whom Hinota was healing opened his eyes and sighed happily as he looked up at Hinota and Joseph who were riding with him and then...the realization.
A multitude of voices all spoke at once, the Blue Rose Knights that received them...the man that was healed...and the refugees now inside the base all said in unison.
”Htenrj wuk hti koxi!” Only the two with the man would know what this meant as the woman with Cyrus and Joesph began to cower behind him.
A single sentence...When translated into the language that Willow and Hinota both understood would have the biggest impact on the group...Thanks for the ride! And not only one person spoke...hundreds spoke. A mysterious orb left where a priest once sat unconscious...and a mysterious artifact with Cyrus. The priest showed up to save those at the church and now was indifferent that Cyrus knew who he was...Was a bigger plan about to unfold.

[attr=class, cyrustext]Cyrus smiled as the woman accepted his offer to help her stand up, only for his face to flash red a=when she clung to him and kissed him on the cheek. He certainly hadn't expected a reaction like that, to say the least. Given the situation that the town was in however, he decided to just rationalize it as just her relief at his assistance. He gave her another smile, though he noticed that she wasn't shivering despite being absolutely soaked.
Once his golems had dispatched of the Lurker who had been attempting to ambush the poor woman, both Naxel and Hinota approached the sap wizard. So the monsters were hiding among the bodies of the deceased, then? At the very least it explained why Naxel had been doing what he was. And he seemed remorseful about committing such a display in front of the civilians and younger knights. Cyrus put a hand on his friend's shoulder. "You were right to prioritize safety over decency in this situation." He shared his own thoughts on the matter; even if it was quite the sight, it was better than being killed in an ambush for sure.
Naxel explained that he planned on heading back to the Blue Rose's headquarters ahead of the rest of the group, wanting to investigate the priest that Cyrus had informed him of over their call earlier. Cyrus nodded. "Understood, but be careful; his words before he passed out were definitely suspect. 'I did what I had to do', I believe. I'll take care of things here and get everyone else there shortly."
Hinota chimed in next as the Azure Deer member left, filling him in on the situation with the injured man and requesting assistance in moving him. It was then that she whispered something to her superior, expressing her suspicions about the woman's behavior. Her concerns weren't ignored; the kiss still seemed a bit excessive to him, and he doubted that his junior would lie to him about something like this for no reason. Cyrus spoke something to Hama, asking her to relay a message to the younger Golden Dawn mage since he was with the woman.
Hama hovered over to float near Hinota's shoulder, covering her own mouth as she whispered. "Cyrus says he understands; he's going to keep an eye on her personally as we ride over to the base. But he also says that you should consider that different people handle situations differently; if you were caught up in this mess and not a trained knight, how would you respond?"
Message delivered, Hama returned to Cyrus' shoulder as he took better notice of Willow's heavy breathing. "I hope it is alright if I ask you to try and rest as we ride. I'd like to get off of this battlefield as soon as possible." Hama meanwhile was looking at the girl clinging to her partner. "Might be a bit difficult to climb on board the golem like that, ya know." She said, intending both to tease and maybe inject a little levity into the grim situation. Cyrus smiled a little at this, patting the girl's arm. "Would you mind telling me your name? If you're scared once we're on the golem, you can hold onto me. I don't mind."
Hinota requested that Joseph and Willow give her assistance in getting the man onto one of the wyverns, who heard their dilemma and lowered one of its wings to act as a ramp. "Probably best to sit him between you." Cyrus offered as he lead the woman to one of the other wyvern golems, helping her get seated. "Once everybody is on board, we're going to follow Naxel to the base. Let me know when everybody is ready!"
Once everybody was ready, Cyrus commanded his golems to take off and head towards the base. The Heliades and unmanned Falernum flew on either side of them just in case more threats appeared. Specifically the Heliades was watching Hinota, Joseph, and the injured man, while the other wyvern was keeping an eye on his group. As they flew, Cyrus glanced back at the woman he had rescued. Her apparently strange reactions, the way she seemed unbothered despite being soaked, and that Hinota said she had asked them to leave the man behind. Certainly strange behavior, and not the first he had seen today.
"Are you not cold, ma'am?" He asked her, adopting a conversational tone as he lightly tugged on the front of his shirt; the artifact tucked into his scarf fell down into his hand, as he offered the cloth to the woman. "If it helps, you may wear this. Though I would like it back once you are warmed up; it was a gift."
He also held up the artifact to the woman, wondering if perhaps her odd behavior and that of the priest were in some way connected. "Does this look familiar to you at all, miss?" He asked, careful to keep a tight grip on it. The fact that she seemed untroubled by the water soaking her clothes, plus the fact that this artifact was Atlantean in nature, gave him a theory. After showing it to the woman he would stow it away within his shirt for the time being.
It wasn't long before their group arrived at the Blue Rose's base, but... something seemed off. Very different from the vibe it had given him earlier in the day. A group of the squad's knights were there to greet them, and the man with the others seemed to have awakened. A chill ran up Cyrus' back as they spoke; all at once, the knights, the man, and even the other refugees taking shelter within the base. Immediately Cyrus was on guard.
Cyrus' grimoire opened, and he looked behind him. Unlike the rest of the people present, the woman he had saved had not spoken with the others. "Everyone," He said, his golems flanking him in a wall of sorts between the crowd and the others. His Heliades, after a mental command, knelt down. "Be ready to get moving; I recommend boarding my Heliades."
It was then that Hama called out to him, having spotted something. "Cyrus, look! It's Lydia!" He looked off to the side and saw something else that struck him; Lydia, along with a large collection of civilians including... the priest?! They were all riding on a ship that seemed to be made of carbon. The people from the ship rushed towards the base, though why he wasn't sure.
For the moment he simply waited, wondering where Naxel was since he had come here before them to interrogate the priest. He released the defensive effect protecting the injured man, but kept it up on the others. "What did they all say?" He asked Willow, recognizing the language that they were speaking as the same one she used sometimes.
If they had decided to accept his offer to board the Heliades, the golem would rise into the air after everyone was on, leaving Cyrus on the ground with the other golems. If not it would only remain standing there with the others, the wyvern that had carried the old man to the base watching him carefully.

It was confirmed, Hinotas senior saved the woman with flying colors. Joesph couldn't help but to admire that capability. Their magic use was clearly very different, so the admiration wasn't in hopes of the impossible. Instead, it was the strong desire to be equally capable and reliable one day as a magic knight. Their pale pink eyes with the slight orange tint in the darker areas watched Naxel approach the junior azure deer. He didn't want to be upset at the brunette, it had nothing to do with what happened to the bodies. That was disturbing, but preventable death was still worse. These negative emotions were over Blake going ahead, leaving one less route of communication. It wasn't a way they wanted to feel, just as Joseph had hoped that a voice would erupt from him each time that it was attempted during the chaos. Each time had been a stab to the young mans self esteem. It didn't even seem like they could understand sign language at this time. It was understandable with the madness and death that had loomed around the hill, his mind knew that. The heart didn't always listen to rationality though, and for someone so near the edge? It was like everything mattered more than it would have otherwise. Still, the pale peachy skilled person waved to the senior azure deer member before going back to other things.
The words the dark haired girl had signed were nice. The hands felt a bit heavy signing this information, but at least it was something he didn't need to rely on memories for. ~I don't know of her ancestors, but nothing could save her.~ That probably made the loss all the more worse. There had been many doctors that had tried, but none of them had been able to figure it out. His father had repeated that information enough times for it to be burned into the marrow of their bones, even with all that had been blocked and forgotten. She had started off having delicate health, so she didn't have a lot of stamina in fighting the sickness in the first place. Would that have even saved her when professionals couldn't even figure out what she had before her passing though? But he didn't expect the young woman to touch one of his hands, no matter how briefly it lasted. It was a strange reminder that the two were standing close enough to reach out and touch, if one so desired. Would things be alright? It was the magic knights that had to work to make sure that it would when it could be done. He didn't expect her to be able to sign such profound words. It was enough to get him to forget all the frustrations and upset they had been feeling before. This didn't mean everything was okay, but at the least he had regained a lot of themselves.
This was likely only a temporary boost, but confronting those shadows would certainly be a good start. Such thing were for another time, but at least he understood. Was he strong enough to though? Even if they are unchanging things, the past can be terrifying. If he could face it, would that mean he could remember her again? The ones that had been good enough for his father to have fallen that far without her beside him. Then again, did want or not want really matter in this case? As a magic knight, it was ones duty to self improve. ~Maybe after the source of this disaster is found and we can be sure the surviving people are safe, I will try to find ways to face my aggressive shadows. Past a certain point, the good and bad are knitted closely together inside. Those dark shadows are why it took me so long to learn how to speak, why I still have trouble with it despite having a voice.~ His shadows weren't just fond or not fond. They felt more like the good, then the bad that was armed with bladed weapons. He wasn't going to pretend like confronting it would be easy, or that it hadn't been hard on him, or that he hadn't been trying already. Would it be easier to confront it with someone elses help? That could be considered another time and place. Back home, family had wanted to help him forget and move on.
They hadn't wanted to hear about the light that had been snatched away. There was no talking of her allowed, nor was any of her items ever displayed. Nobody wanted to hear about the person that could never return. ~Thank you.~ If Hinota was trying to help him in the middle of such a horrifying mission, maybe it meant that he could seek help facing those shadowy blades in the mind after this was all over. What would that even look like? Help that involved confronting the shadows, rather than pretending they weren't there in hopes that it would make them disappear. Then the golden dawn junior spoke of her family and parents. Tradition was important to them? ~Thank you for helping me understand better. Tradition being important to family is common, but what that means depends on the family. I will try to keep this information in mind.~ If this was a moment that didn't involve a corpse strewn island, the young man would likely be blushing ear to ear. It was strange just how strongly the situation can effect a persons reaction to words. Safe to say, there was no redness on these cheeks at this time. Maybe there were other things, considering how filthy the water had been that most of the group had to go through in order to get on this hill in the first place, but not blushing. ~What is your brother like?~
Joseph was more than glad to help lift the man. While not exactly a weight lifter, there was experience in lifting and moving heavy objects. There were many instruments that weight more than just a little. Helping to move a piano was a horrible experience he didn't wish on any person. This was exactly why he knew how to lift heavy things carefully. That didn't tell Cobborn how to perfectly lift an injured man, but the young man did their best to do so. This lead to him ending up watching over the man with Hinota, sitting on the opposite side as golden dawn junior while on a golem. The majesty of the magic had no room in the young man to be properly appreciated, as the peachy haired person let themselves become fully occupied in retaining his own spell and in helping to make sure the man was fine during travel. Arriving at the base felt a little strange. So many were arriving the same time their group was. A ship of carbon matter... could he do something so mighty one day? Maybe it was conceited to hope for it, but it was hard to not admire the more senior magic knights. Cyrus was also amazing with the golems and it was thanks Naxel that they survived so many attacks, even if he ran off ahead of the group. The overwhelming awe was replaced with a bit of relief once he saw the civilian awaken, giving a smile towards the person.
The voices from inside the base was a bit startling. It wasn't the voices themselves, one had to expect a bit of chaos and a lot of voices when it came to a building full of refugees. The alarming thing was how many were saying the same thing. He looked to Cyrus and Willow, seeing the woman that had been saved from the hill now hiding behind those two. Did she have an idea of what was going on, or was she startled as well? Should they not move the man inside yet? Something felt a little more than off about this. ~What are they saying?~ This was signed to himself more than anything else. There was something particularly strange about many voices all saying the same thing.

Esart did not know exactly how they were going to transport all of the civilians with how frantic they were being but then Lydia took it upon herself to figure out a solution that the noble found to be a bit vulgar but would definitely get the job done as she went around knocking out each of the civilians. He decided to not question her actions at all and just shrugged it off. He did not know how much time they had before anymore enemies would show up so the possible trauma those being knocked out may have would be worth their safety or at least he thought so. Lydia had then started to look around the area to make sure that it would serve as a good defense which Esart picked up on quickly but then both would react as they would hear the crashing of something near the entrance of the church. Without speaking a word to each other and instead using their eyes and gestures to speak to each other, they would move to the entrance of the church to see what was going on. They did not have much cover from due to the clashing spells earlier so they both made sure to ready their spells just in case a fight would be started.
They would see the battered priest heading towards them who at first started to create his own spell but then stopped as he realized who they were and the dead daemons around them. He called out to them quickly to have the civilians board his ship before anymore enemies came. He managed to introduce himself as Alex just before a heavy rain would start to fall around them which quickly started to raise the water level around them. Esart quickly picked up as many of the civilians as he could and got them to the priest's ship. They managed to get all the civilians out of the church and onto the ship which Esart could tell was some sort of spell that Alex could manipulate. "Thank you. I am Esart Silva. We fought against those things in there to save these people but this rain would have completely ruined what we achieved without you. So thank you is what I should say here." Esart seemed to have trouble saying 'thank you' but forced himself to anyways. That Silva pride was a rough thing for him to get over. He did not fully trust Alex with how he showed up suddenly and they had already dealt with someone who was being manipulated by their enemies earlier. He gave a look to Lydia that he hoped she picked up on to tell her that they should keep an eye on their new priest 'ally'. "It is good to have a ride to the Blue Rose base and not having to swim there or something worse. I am fairly new to the world so I am not equipped for traveling with my magic yet." Esart spoke out as he looked over the ship. He was making sure to be in a position on it where if he had to abandon it that he could do so quick.
The trio with the civilians would arrive at the Blue Rose base sometime later which caused Esart to gain a bit of trust with the priest who had saved them but he still wanted to keep his eyes open over the man as they continued forward. "We should get some help with these people. I'm not a healer in any way and they would probably need more than just some physical healing either way." He spoke as they got off of the boat and moved their way to towards the Blue Rose magic knights. He noticed that a group of Blue Rose magic knights had gathered near some others who had just arrived. He paid them little attention at first but noticed that they were from different Magic Knight squads. "Excuse me but we have some injured civilians over here that need to be brought to safety." He spoke to the Blue Rose knights but did not get the response he thought he should get. They spoke something in some weird language that he did not understand at all. What made it weird was that they all said it at the same time along with some of the others that were with the different magic knights. He looked towards Lydia hoping that she knew something. "What did they say?" He questioned aloud for anyone to answer. His stance did not say that he was ready for much but he was mentally ready to jump into a defensive stance if needed. He then heard a voice speak out about seeing Lydia causing him to look where it came from. "Friends of yours, Lady Ravencrest?" He asked another question of Lydia while also making sure to keep his eyes on those near them. He felt like they had walked out of a kettle and found themselves inside of the fire that was around it suddenly. He did not want to look like he would be the aggressor in the situation so he made sure to not pull his grimoire out even though some others had theirs out.
As the doll-like mage moved away from her senior she blinked seeing his companion come to her seemingly to deliver a message, she didn't even hesitate in her reply "I would act the same way any normal person faced in such a situation would. I wouldn't be apathetic to the pain, suffering and death of those around me. I wouldn't claim to leave someone behind when they were stable and I wouldn't start to panic when being notified that help was coming, I would be relieved." she said her tone was showing that this statement was resolute to her. "I might not have taken part in something like this before it but I was alive during the shattering and that alone was terrifying, not knowing if my mother and father would return to my brother and myself. Not knowing if the magic knights would defeat that terrible threat or what it would mean for everyone in the kingdom if it actually did come to pass." she said holding her sleeves looking down. She could still remember that fear of not only herself but of her brother who tried to be her rock during that time, promising he would protect her and even increasing his training. The servants of their household weren't much better in their fear, neither her brother nor herself were even allowed outside of the house let alone the estate during those turbulent times. She could understand what her senior was getting at though, she had just never witnessed someone be so indifferent to the death and pain of others yet be scared at the mention of support it was beyond odd for her.
With the help of Joseph and Willow, she managed to get the man onto the sap golem and nodded to what her senior had said sitting at the opposite side of the man than Joseph had sat on, her eyes went to the man every now and then checking his vitals and making sure he was breathing comfortably until they could get to the Blue Roses headquarters. She watched as Joseph spoke to her and tilted her head before starting to sign in return believing it be better than disturbing the sleeping man that lay between them ~I am so sorry to hear that, perhaps in time you will discover the solution to the mystery on your own and lay the matter to its final rest as you would have closure.~ she signed in return to the other, she had no idea what darkened shadows laid in the past of the peach haired, soft pink-eyed male and it wasn't really her place to pry on the matter but would offer to help the best she could if he asked for it. She did bring up her sleeve however and chuckled lightly before once again signing ~You say you don't know about her ancestors but wouldn't they be yours also? You are her child and that would mean you are a part of her tree and so share the same roots, to say you know nothing about her ancestors is to say you are missing a lot about yourself or your origins. I would suggest taking the time to get to know both better as it could help you with your shadows and strengthen you as a person.~ she had a gentle smile on her face as she went back to checking on the man once more.
She looked up seeing Joseph signing again about how if they lived through it that he would try to work through his aggressive shadows. She started to sign once more in return ~I don't want to assume anything but if I was to wager a guess I would say those are the shadows that stole your voice from you.~ she had heard the other speak quietly before but it had been clear he was struggling and so that was the reason she had started to sign with him in the first place. It was then he confirmed her suspicion on the matter and more ~Good and bad come in equal amounts throughout our lives, without the darkness we don't really cherish the light we are given so even in the worst-case scenarios like this current one I know there is a light at the end and I'll savour it all that much more because I managed to help dispel such an evil darkness.~ she signed to him hoping he would understand where the doll-like mage was coming from "To put it another way, if you are a prodigy of music, for example, you, of course, take to music like a duck to water but because there's very little challenge so you grow sick and tired of it but also don't go looking for something that is a challenge because you believe yourself the best at it. Now, what if you came across or were given a song that seemingly made no sense and was difficult to play? You would, of course, be frustrated and upset in the beginning because it would almost seem like there would be no way to master it, but then think of how you feel when you keep practising hard to master it. Are you not proud of yourself for going through the struggle of learning it and actually seeing how beautiful the melody really is at the end of the journey?" she said quietly before looking to him "I'm a prodigy of healing, it's all I am really capable of doing but right now I feel myself as a bandaid at best but work hard so I might be able to heal wounds such as what this man received easier. Life is a good teacher, it gives us lessons we need to learn and hardships we need to overcome." she finished saying once again checking on the man.
[break][break]
She shook her head seeing him give thanks ~There is no need to give thanks, if we can not support each other when it is needed then we are no better than the enemies we face and are doomed to fail.~ she said with a gentle smile still present on her face only to get a saddened look again when tradition and such were brought up ~Ozma?~ she signed thinking on her brother ~My older brother is a devout person to our family, he is like a younger version of our father so uptight and strict at the best of times. He is a member of the Crimson Lions and often says he joined them so I would never have to fight. I'm a pacifist and see no need for all the loss or pain that people inflict upon each other. He wants me to keep my gentle soul.~ she told the other but things weren't so easy after she had given her oath of duty to Zaven and the Golden Dawn, by tradition she couldn't leave her squad unless she married, got relieved of duty from her captain or died and she wasn't a big fan of option number one or three and Zaven had already said he wasn't releasing her so she was stuck as a member until something changed. She looked down to her own hands as they continued travelling forward wondering how someone like her could make a difference in a world of war and turmoil, she had regretted joining the Golden Dawn after the severe punishment she received at the hands of her parents and that was only made worse with what apparently happened when she was requested by her captain to train with him but those were darkened thoughts for another time.
[break][break]
She jamp as the man between them started to speak the moment they entered the blue roses headquarters suddenly, it wasn't something she was expecting as he had been soundly asleep her eyes widening as she shook a little in fear. She saw Joseph sign from the corner of her eye but she was far too much in shock as the man spoke in a language not many knew. Her eyes moved from the man to those around her as she continued to shake trying to find her words but nothing was coming out. She knew she needed to get the information out to the others but it wasn't coming at first. After a few minutes, she looked to Joseph "They're saying Thanks for the ride" she whispered "I don't know what they're talking about." she said her eyes looking over to the golem with her senior, Willow and the woman who was now cowering "CYRUS! THEY'RE SAYING THANKS FOR THE RIDE!" she yelled over to him before jumping off the golem but condensing her mana enough that she made a bunch sakura petals below were she intended to land that was big enough to prevent her taking to much damage. It was something she had learned thanks to Zaven and that unholy well they visited together. She wasn't too worried about the man as members of the Blue Roses were already getting him off the golem so that Cyrus would be able to continue with whatever was happening. Hinota herself had no idea if Cyrus had even heard her but Willow was with him and they said this in her native tongue so he would be able to translate for him but Naxel needed to know what was said as she was unsure if he was even close enough to hear her yell, problem was she'd need to find him if he wasn't or hadn't heard her.

Naxel had asked the Blue Rose Knight about where the Priest, Cyrus had brought back early, was located. It came across him that the woman wasn’t really in the most calm of moods. The look on her face seemed as if there was something that had scared her. Naxel didn’t really know what to think of the way she was acting. Him coming back to the base when he did was a good choice for him to make though. When she nodded her head, as a response to his question, she began heading towards some stairs off to the side. The Noble Followed on behind her to notice that it was stairs that led down below the squad base. “Did they have to go to this extreme by placing a Priest in a dungeon?” Thinking to himself while he continued to follow behind her. When they reached the bottom he looked around the area to see where the man was located. It was only when he noticed her looking over at a single spot that made him follow her view. Ropes were just lying on the ground along with a mysterious orb just floating there. Naxels eyes grew curious when the orb had struck his vision. The Blue Rose Mage was obviously scared by whatever this thing was before him. So, the Noble walked over towards the orb to see about getting a better look at whatever it was. The orb was giving off a curious aura that made him not know how to feel. Then, he noticed as the Blue Rose Knight had turned around to run back up the stairs from where they came. “Hmm...” Saying to himself before turning his attention back towards the orb. When his sight was back on it he would place his hand in front of the orb to release some of his mana around it. Doing this would allow him to see if he could figure out what was causing this thing to be here. All that he knew what that the Aura of the thing was as cold as a lifeless body. It caused shivers to run up his spine, but that didn’t stop him from continuing on.[break][break]
After a few moment Naxel had heard a loud noise that sounded as if it was someone talking. His attention turned towards the stairs as that was something weird. He was the only person down here now, so that noise must of came from up above. Not really wanting to leave this orb down here he decided it would be best to check out whatever it was up top. He ran upstairs as quickly as he could with his dual scythes within each hand. Once he made it up top was when he heard Hinota scream out that someone said thanks for the ride. Naxel noticed that, not only Hinota, but the rest of the group had made it to the base. He didn’t think they were ready to leave whenever he did, but he was glad that they did. Naxel would then run over towards Cyrus, Hinota, and Joesph while looking at the priest and others. “What in the hell is going on up here? Who said thanks for the ride Hinota?” Saying to the Golden Dawn mage as he kept his eyes onto the Priest as he was now up here. This situation had become quite worrisome since the priest was supposed to be locked up downstairs. Now he was with a group of people. They must of been what he had heard from all the way downstairs. He wasn’t going to assume that it was them until Hinota had said otherwise. Regardless, he would grip his scythes tightly as he didn’t know what was about to happen here.[break][break]

Willow was more than exhausted at this point. There was just something about this scene and all of the mana she was burning through for the sake of just making sure she could get her allies out of this safely. Was it the tainted water magic that was plaguing the city? Was it her rapidly depleting pool of mana she was struggling to keep her grasp on?
She couldn't tell, but while riding on the golem, her eyes were closing and she was taking her time to catch her breath. Thankfully they had it in them to recharge mana after getting into the thick of it. Willow's people weren't the best when it came to the regeneration of mana, but they sure could sap it from other people when they were in a fight.
She was vulnerable at this moment. Her breathing was ragged and she was just doing her best to keep awake. While everyone spoke, she just hardly listened in. She had no means of understanding what Joseph was signing while her eyes were shut. But there was just one thing that stood out to her the moment she heard it. A voice that she did not recognize that spoke in the language of her people.
When Hinota had spoken to her native tongue she was surprised, to say the least, having grown up knowing every Havenite of New Haven, and knowing the faces of everyone that spoke it.
But this new person? She just opened her eyes quickly and spoke out suddenly, "There should not being many people that are having the knowledge of Haven's Chaos Tongue. I...I am demanding to be knowing where you have been gaining the knowledge of such things!"
She had a panicked and angered look on her face. How could anyone know that language?
Just before the group left the Hangman’s Hill Cyrus asked the woman for her name. The woman sat down and was silent for a moment until she was offered his scarf. She took it and wrapped it around her neck before looking up at him. ”My name is Serena...and the reason why I am not shivering is I usually feel at home in the water. Sorry if I spooked any of your friends…” She said as the trip moved just as stated in the last post.
As the group would all hear the words being said Willow and Hinota would immediately know what was said. Hinota jumped down from the golem and began to warn Cyrus. Leaving Joseph there with the man on the Golem as the Blue Rose Knights stepped forward. Willow however, looked angry and demanded an explanation as she looked shocked. Cyrus was a bit confused as he would hear Hinota’s warning, Serena on the other hand would move with a deft hand to grab the piece of Orichalculm that Cyrus had.
Serena would smile to whomever caught her, and then lash out with her claws to deliver [SENIOR] damage before diving back into the water with a laugh. Next round there will be a mass of monsters attack the Blue Rose Base
Serena would pocket the piece from Cyrus and would continue to play ignorant as she wove her spell over all the “infected” like a puppet master. A large mass of her minions would move towards the Blue Rose base for an inevitable clash.
However, the trap had been sprung, and the Orb of Souls inside the Blue Rose Base had finally reached the point it needed for consumption...all it needed was the right people in the right places.
Lydia would use her ability to see a situation with a clear mind and notice not only Serena’s mana, but also her illusions that she was weaving on those saved of the ones saved and even more inside. However, it was too late. The Orb of Souls power exploded as Lydia ordered the others to get the civilians out as quickly as possible. Lydia would jump to move to where Serena was regardless of if she was caught or was not. However, stopping her from getting into the water was priority. Lydia would do just that but that same rush also had Serena think quickly as she summoned a water golem to take Lydia’s first hit as she attacked. Estart would be left on the ship with the priest as the man would actually pull himself out of whatever illusion has taken hold of him. ”DON’T LET HER ESCAPE! SHE IS THE DAEMON!” He said as he cast a Spell, just a moment too late as Serena and Lydia would clash.
The Orb’s power was a Grand Hex, that would decrease everyone’s movement, and at the same time with each passing round 10% of their mana skin would automatically begin to be sapped, once mana skin was run out then the health of those affected would start to drain. This was happening to everyone within the AoE’s radius.
This round is a toss up. You can get ready for a fight, or try to make your escape out of the hex, the problem is that you feel weaker with each passing moment...you don’t have much time to act.
The Tridents: Intermediate The Lurkers: Senior Sea Emperors: Grand
If you have to get into the water or are thrown into it, you will suffer half movement speed decrease and a possible chance of being attacked.

[attr=class, cyrustext]Cyrus frowned as Hinota translated what the crowd of people had said for him, his already bad feeling intensifying. Willow chimed in, noting that it didn't make sense for so many people to know and be able to speak the language of Haven. Chaos Tongue, she called it. Naxel arrived on the scene and asked to be filled in. "Naxel! Did you go to the priest's cell before or after he escaped somehow?" He asked, since the priest was clearly out and about right now and seemed connected to all of this.
Internally Cyrus cursed, blaming himself for the situation since he had been the one to bring the man to the base. But he thought back to the conversation with the woman, whose name he now knew was Serena, about how she felt at home in the water. They were surrounded by the seemingly possessed people, and he was unsure of if there were any threats still in the water nearby. He had his ki senses up, trying to focus on anything that seemed irregular.
It was apparently a good decision, as he sensed movement from Serena behind him. Aggressive movement in his direction. He held his hand to the artifact hidden in his shirt and twisted, receiving a harsh cut across his arm from the claws she now possessed as he grabbed her hand. "I noticed you didn't say anything about the relic when I asked you earlier." He stated simply, and at his command the wyvern by his side moved to strike the woman.
She managed to avoid his attack however, and Lydia jumped into action to try and stop her. She managed to prevent the woman from getting to the water, which appeared to have been her destination, while the priest called out that Serena was the demon.
Cyrus felt a powerful pressure on himself, and could tell that his mana skin was weakening gradually. He hadn't seen Serena cast a spell though, so what was it? Whatever the case was, he ordered his Heliades to take a look around and see if it could figure out the source of whatever was affecting them. The angelic knight let out a metallic groan in response and rose looked around, eyes turning towards the Blue Rose's HQ. "Everybody get on the other golems if you want to try and get out of here!" He advised the other members again. "I don't know what's going on, but there's something weakening us here."
He never took his eyes off of Serena, feeling to make sure that the relic was still in his shirt. It was, and he was determined to keep it that way. "She's after a relic that the priest gave me!" Cyrus called out to Lydia, Esart, and Naxel since they had not been with their group when he asked the woman about it.
His grimoire glowed as he prepared a spell. They couldn't let Serena... no, the demon, escape. "Hydra Hitching!" He called out, sending his strongest Restraint spell at their target. Three tendrils of sap formed around him and launched towards the woman, each tendril splitting into a two-headed serpent as they lunged at her.

The Silva noble had no idea what was going on at all. He had not met any of the other group at all and then an additional man joined them putting the Silva more on edge. Lydia had not responded to anything he had said either which added to his paranoia. They had dealt with the little girl being manipulated by their enemies earlier causing him to be very cautious around those near them. He only really knew that Lydia was not being controlled in anyway but did not know anything about the others around them. This paranoia would intensify more when suddenly one of the women in the group lunged at one of the magic knights at a speed that regular people would not be able to move. The magic knight was able to quickly retaliate to the attack but missed her. Lydia would then quickly move into action against the woman and Esart would summon up a mass of mercury along with his grimoire to assist her but with the speed the two were moving at he felt that he would only burden his ally in her fight. He had seen her power first hand so he knew that she was beyond powerful but this new enemy had not shown anything to them yet which was a disadvantage to them.
Esart would be attempting to take aim at the woman who Lydia was engaging when suddenly his body would feel drained causing he to stumble forward. "What the hell...?" He would blurt out as he stumbled and then regained his footing. He would feel slightly dizzy also which caused him to clutch at one of his eyes. "What is this? That is going on? This was all a trap?" He would get out just before the priest would yell out to not let the woman get away. Esart would move himself over to the priest and continue speaking. "She is the daemon? The one that caused all of this?" The magic knight who had been attacked would then call out that the daemon was after some relic. Esart guessed that the relic was on the magic knight's person which caused Esart to feel better about trusting the man. He did not wait for the priest to answer and approached Cyrus and the others. "I'm hoping I am right about this but you are friends of Lady Ravencrest, right? If you are, I want to help with whatever you are doing to help her. We worked together at the church after she saved me and now I feel that I need to help more. I am Esart Silva and I hope my status will not cause issues with the current situation." He thought twice about introducing himself as a Silva to avoid any problems but decided to do it otherwise so that everyone knew just who he was. "So in short this is me wanting to get onto one of your golems and fix as much as we can." He was able to get his little speech out while still suffering the effects of the area around them but knew that they had limited time so he had managed to say everything as quick as he could. If he was given the okay he would find his way onto one of Cyrus's golems but if not he would jump onto one anyways and force his help onto the group.
While on one of the golems Esart would take aim again at Serena and fire off a few shots of mercury her way when he saw an opening to fire that would not get in Lydia's way. "Nice to meet all you by the way." He would speak out as he took his shots at their enemy.
[attr="class","florencetext"]Lydia managed to stop the deamon from getting into the water. However the creautre also managed to stop her attack with a golem which was a pain but the vice captain had fought a deamon once before and knew she would have been lucky to get in a attack that easy. As the hex went into affect Lydia's recative body would active stopping the hex from affecting her. However it seemed the others weren't as lucky nor did they have powerful enough healing magic to get rid of the hex in all honestly Lydia couldn't get rid of it with her healing either. Cyrus was quick to get to work casting his own spells while also offering the others a way out. The spell is affecting us is a hex I have some of my own however mine work differently. It seemed that the golden dawn mage wanted to stay and fight and while Lydia had worked with him before and knew just how skilled his was with golems and defense the others needed him more. Cyrus go with the others and help get the citizens out of here. [break][break] After all if you golems get destroyed while you are here helping me the others are stuck in the water with no real way out. I still have a few tricks left so I should be fine on my own. Lydia wasn't sure how well the sap mage would listen if he even heard her at all to be honest but they couldn't leave the citizens here and fight a deamon that seemed to be just as strong Lydia. Regardless if the others listened or not Lydia would go on the offensive again after all if she was aiming for whatever the golden dawn mage had the deamon wouldn't let the others get away without trying to stop them the glass mage just needed to not give the women that chance. The vice captain would then let go of the spells in her hand allowing them to float next to her while casting another. Glass Magic: Gandiva As the bow appeared in her hand along with an arrow the vice captain would pull the bow string back aiming at the deamon before letting the arrow lose. If the arrow hit Serena it wouldn't deal in damage to the deamon but it would leave a rune like marking on her body while lowering her power by nine. Lydia however wouldn't stop there and would also send her glass spear at the deamon leaving her light sword by her side to counter whatever spell Serena might throw at her or the group trying to escape.

Post by Joseph Ravencrest✾ on Sept 3, 2020 23:25:22 GMT -5
Joseph had left the golem once the man had been received by blue rose magic knights. The civilian likely would have been fine even if the young man hadn't been there, as they were already at the base. It really felt like the first person the azure deer had helped in such a direct way. There was something different in doing missions knowing that they will help others, and trying to work with others to ensure that someone wouldn't end up in the maws of something unspeakable. It had only taken one swipe on that hill of corpses to open the stranger up. Without Hinotas magic, that man would have become another cold corpse on that hill. It was amazing what a good healer could do. That location had felt akin to being stuck in a graveyard with a refusal to rest that included killers coiling in every which direction. Even then there had been something strange. A woman that had been seen being held by the throat, but never harmed. From the beginning it had been strange that even at that point, she was never hurt. She only started showing fear when one with more experience than Naxel showed up. The senior had kept them alive, but the enemy still hadn't feared the brunette. It seemed that the dark haired girls theory had been right. The strange woman had been something terrible. Their group had brought a beast to the one place that civilians should be able to feel the most secure.
Cobborn wanted to help, but something was definitely strange. Cyrus was saying to escape, but how could anyone justify fleeing when there was still so many lives at risk? What if something happened to those civilians? It would feel like they lost, even if the city was regained and repaired. ~Stop panicking, think.~ He signed this to himself in order to regain focus. What was needed? Healers and attackers. Everyone knew where the deamon was now, right? Peachy pale fingers reached to the temporary map, bringing it closer. This spell was certainly being used far more than the young man had expected on this day. Nothing was predictable during such mad times. Pale pink eyes looked over every detail. Had the woman called those things here? That was a worry that wrung through their head, a frown on his lips. No, a knight shouldn't let themselves frown like this. It might lead to darker things and thoughts. Think of less pressing and terrifying matters than the monster of a woman that the more powerful people were dealing with. “Thank you Hinota, you're right. Maybe her tree could explain my magic, or why I felt called to join the magic knights.”
The idea of feeling whole had been a comfort, as did the thought of all the fresh magic knights here one day becoming masters. Nothing was alright, but for now his heart was calm. When emotions didn't overpower, his gentle voice could ring out. Now that the calmness had been successfully forced by himself, what should he do? Fighting was not an option, but there was still a lot of people here. If junior magic knights were having trouble, most citizens must be far worse off. How would it feel to be one of them? Having survived the initial assault and to be saved, only to die in the very place where you should have been most safe. Cyrus had already called for people to get onto his golems to escape, so that was what Joseph ran to help with. With a smile and a sweet tuned voice, the peachy colored man begun to lead people there. “We're looking out for all of you the best that we can, you will be taken to safety.” Cyrus was undoubtedly an amazing mage, but their words to get people to get on the golems hadn't sounded all that convincing. It was like giving out the information without trying to make a chaotic situation sound or feel less so. What he did likely wasn't helping much, but it was better than not at all. At least helping those who were having trouble walking or moving was something?

She had been caught, how cute...The slash seemed to affect the little Golden Dawn mage, but not near enough to really do anything serious...typical. However as she went to retreat she found herself caught and then the Crimson Lion woman that just showed up seemed to see right through her even before the priest spoke. When she was finally able to break free she retreated to the shoreline, the mages seemed to have a plan of escape as the Golden Dawn mage focused his efforts, along with the junior Azure deer to get civilians out of there as soon as possible. Estart jumped from the priest’s ship and introduced himself and offered to help in any way that he could possibly do.
With civilians being moved onto the sap mage’s golems, Hinota was rallying the people inside to get them to exit as fast as possible. However, in the commotion there were two mages that were seeming lost, the first was Willow. The poor witch was tossed into the water during the small scuffle and would begin to feel the effects of the magic spread across her body as she began to sink in the water. The predicament would be would she make it to the surface with her decreased movement speed or would she run out of air. The other was Naxel Blake, the mage would have been near Hinota, but was left outside as the daemon made her move. Summoning another grand predator golem, its shape looked like a coiled serpent about to strike, and it did indeed do so. [The speed would be the base movement speed of a grand golem] and it would knock the mage back ten meters, slamming him into the wall of the Blue Rose base without any effort. That is when Serena transformed into her true form. ”YOU FOOLS! YOU WILL NOT ESCAPE!”[/b] She yelled out as the small approaching army of her minions moved through the water, and would reach them the next round. Cyrus’s Hydra Hitching caught the female daemon, but she just sighed and watched as the arrow would strike her chest. The small rune mark was an absolute eyesore on her perfect skin and she hissed at Lydia before she broke free just in time to evade the spear. The daemons would then send her predator golem back at Cyrus and Lydia if they were still in the same place.
The orb began to ebb and the power held within swelled with the deaths of those less fortunate that were being held in the base. Back at the golems the directions that Hinota gave and Joseph’s guidance and calm exterior were moving more people over to him as if the civilians thought the man to be their absolute savior.
TLDR The fight has started and the group is caught in the middle, with Willow being thrown in the water, and Naxel being knocked back the two attacks she received from the Crimson Lion mage with a combo assist from the Golden Dawn senior it was irritating to her that they were trying to escape. The other Azure Deer and Silva noble were trying their best to direct civilians onto golems to get out of the AoE, but those with pre existing injuries or severe wounds subsumed and death awaited them. There was not much time left.
