The next step in achieving her dream was also the next step in achieving her family's dream. The two went hand in hand. Igor did not believe she should be the family head. And in truth, if she was to be honest with herself, she thought him correct. If she was going to die in such a short amount of time, it was for the best she have nothing to do with the Reinsberg further. But she did not want to believe she was going to die. There was a cure out there. Somewhere. There had to be.[break][break]
With the thought of her own impending death so close at hand, Verena decided to pay tribute to a place that birthed her into who she was today. No, not her family home. Not the city she was born in. No, right now the brunette found herself in the place that brought her as much confidence in herself as it inspired fear. She had returned to Kikka.[break][break]
It was in Kikka she found the resolve. It was in Kikka she found the courage. It was in Kikka where she found her sense of ambition and her earnest desire to save her family. She had entered this hellscape of her own volition thinking that it might help get her name around. The heiress left with a clear goal in mind, and the means to achieve it.[break][break]
Verena's heart was already heavy. She was worried. Was what she had enough? Would it be enough? The Royal Knight Exams were confirmed in just a few days. She wasn't as angst-ridden as she was when she had left her home because of Igor's words, but she was still worried. Did she really have what it took? Not even Renfir was a Royal Knight, and he himself was regarded as one of the stronger Magic Knights prior to his mental declination...[break][break]
Verena found herself at the Graveyard in Kikka. She had been here a few times in the past recently, though under normal circumstances to pay respects. Too many had been lost. They were not prepared for a threat quite like the daemon invasion in Kikka. In Raque and the Royal Capital, things had, more or less, turned out alright. But even then, the surprise attack was still a reminder to all the people that their own perceived safety was a fragility that could shatter that any moment.[break][break]
Verena's emotions might not have been all over the place, but she was still anxious and worried. Not just that, if the Royal Knight Exams were happening, it was because there was a matter that affected the Kingdom at large. It was a force that consisted of those that the Royal Family deemed exceptionally strong and were sent on a specific mission that determined the future.[break][break]
Truthfully, Verena didn't care one way or another for the royal family. In a way, their gift had turned out to become her family's curse. Their blood was that of commoners after all. There was no changing that fact. And yet this far in the future, they took their granted nobility as their God-given right. It wasn't until that perceived "right" was on the brink of being revoked that the family began panicking.[break][break]
Verena admittedly wasn't visiting any one person. She didn't know any of the people who died. Truthfully, she didn't even know any of the people she allegedly saved. She had no idea how they were doing. Part of her... actually did regret that, she felt as she stared at the graves. That she wasn't sure what happened to them after Kikka. She hoped they were recovering... that they had recovered.[break][break]
The femme was without her trademark white coat and didn't even do anything with her hair. Instead, the brunette's hair was let down to fall freely, reaching back down to her hips. Her preferred red-stitched black dress was worn over her formfitting dark blue jumpsuit. Most surprisingly was the fact she was without her glasses. She had received her fair share of lecherous stares as she traveled through Kikka as a result. B[break][break]
...And yet, she didn't care. She didn't care that she was being ogled. She didn't care that it might have been causing some problems. At least when she got to the cemetery, that had stopped -- mostly because there were none. Still, it was nice to be acknowledged at least. A small comfort amidst the myriad of worries she had.[break][break]
"...Am I strong enough?" she asked as she stopped in front of a large slab of stone.
This stone seemed to be the Kikka memorial site, honoring those who had died, disappeared, and any other sort of untimely end that separated them from loved ones during the initial attack, two months of isolation, and the final reclamation effort.[break][break]
Verena wasn't asking anyone near her. As far as she knew, she was the only one at this memorial right now after all. This was a once-in-a-lifetime chance. The Royal Knight Exams didn't just happen unless there was a major crisis. Of course, even if she was accepted, that meant there was going to be even more dangerous work that could easily have ended up being far above what she could handle.[break][break]
Verena let out a frustrated sigh. She had come so far. So why was she doubting herself right now? It wasn't as if she was weak, but... but...[break][break]
Here in Kikka, she was weak. So impossibly weak. So much so that she simply couldn't accomplish anything on her own, not even with her golems. Whatever the Royal Knights were being made for, it likely was for something even bigger than Kikka. Not even the Royal Knight Exams were started for that -- though that was likely with the intent to preserve some level of discretion from the daemons... not that it mattered.[break][break]
Whatever was going to happen was likely even stronger. She had heard rumors, of course, of what to expect. But ... she didn't want to believe it true. If that was the case, then the only option she really had to consider was going after...[break][break]

Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
To say what happened Kikka left quite the impression on Valo, would be an understatement. It quite possibly changed him for the rest of his life. He still remembered the day it happened like it was yesterday, a simple visit to feed his mother's pet raven. Turned into a night of horrors and sorrow. So much had happened and so much was lost. But that didn't stop him from paying his respects when he needed to, this wasn't his first time back in Kikka. No not at all. He had returned a few times already, to pay respects to the fallen, visit graves of ones dear to him, help good people get back on their feet and back to a normal life. He also visited his mother who had come back to home when he deemed it was safe to do so.
The town was getting back to a normal state, it was difficult but it was doable. Some people still traumatized after all that happened needed a little bit more time, and that was fair. They would have all the time they need. Valo was walking through the roads of Kikka casually, he had a destination to the gravesites, but he was in no rush. A long green cloak draped over his body with a large Green Mantis symbol on the back. As he walked through the town, nearly everyone knew who he was at this point. Do to many reasons, his own fame had grown quite significantly. Some people in Kikka already knew who he was since he was raised here, and if they didn't know him then they know him now. Especially as one of the magic knights responsible for ending that never ending darkness.
Most of the folk would turn to him and nod with a sign of respect, children would wave with enthusiasm. Others not so much, some had last to much to ever get over the fact that things were somehow supposed to get back to normal. Valo understood that, all he could do was try his best to bring those people some kind of comfort.
"Valo..."
"Hmmm?"
"It's nothing never mind."
Agneya Astra Valo's fiery spirit was on top of bushy brown hair laying on her stomach. She knew visiting Kikka was important to him, so therefore it was important to her. Though she wasn't exactly present for everything that happened, her being connected to Valo allowed her to feel those emotions that he went through. Paying his respects was important to him, and she understood and respected that. She was like a new member to his family, they were still getting to know each other but the bond was there. It just had to be worked on a little.
Like Agneya there were others that were now part of him, soul bound. The parting gift 'Last Wishes' given to him by the daemon Lilitu gave him access to summon four very significant wraiths. "Charlotte, Nanami, Anata, Kiyoshi." Valo called their names out softly. From the orange and white colored pendant started to glow and within a instant four wisps flew out from the pendant and formed four separate wraiths. The first one was Charlotte a beautiful young women with long lavender hair, dressed in a all black dress. The second was her daughter Nanami, a young girl no older than five years old with short silver hair. The third was another young women, with long black raven hair wearing crimson and gold. And lastly was her twin Kiyoshi same colored hair also dressed in red and gold.
The last two wraiths had a puzzled look on their face as to why, Valo would have summoned them here in Kikka. The first two wraiths were just revisiting an old home to them, Charlotte picked up Nanami and held her in her arms with a delicate smile on her face. Mouthing the words "Thank you." to Valo, who just returned the small smile and nodded. But he then looked back at Kiyoshi and Anata his face still welcoming.
"Young Master...why have you summoned..."
"Master!...There is no reason as to why me and my sister have been called out here. There is no battle or fight going on at the moment, and did you forget what was asked of us in this very place?" Kiyoshi interrupted his sister and spoke to Valo with a bit of frustration in his voice. Which made sense, the last time the two set foot in this town they were responsible for lot's of it's destruction. Which is exactly why Valo had brought them out in the first place.
"I didn't forget...and that's exactly why we are here. To atone and to pay respects." Valo replied to the frustrated warrior wraith. The fire mage wasn't surprised by Kiyoshi's frustrations, him and his sister had caused quite a bit of damage to this town and it's people. They practically destroyed the Purple Orca's base and then some. But they were just following the commands of their master Lilitu, Valo wasn't trying to put the blame entirely on them. But that didn't mean they didn't have to pay their respects.
"Pay respects?... We was following..."
"Understood. Young Master Valorisse." this time Anata stopped her brother mid sentence. Which was rare for her to do, but if Kiyoshi and Valo were going to have words little could be done to stop it.
Valo took a deep breath in and let it out. He didn't want to argue at least not here and not right now. He proceeded to head towards the large grave site for the Kikka Memorial Site, with each of the wraiths following behind him closely. Charlotte and Nanami weren't much for words but they were at peace currently as if they had never left home. Anata looked as delicate as always with a small smile on her face, Kiyoshi whose face was always stern had a sliver of a moment of shock when he saw the Kikka Memorial grave site. And just how many lives have been lost. But his face quickly reverted back to it's usual stern stare. Valo noticed this though, he was going to speak up before he saw a familiar face.
"Verena?..." He said looking closer at the summoner, he noticed it was her indeed. But she was dressed differently and she had her hair down with no glasses. She almost looked unrecognizable. "That is you right?" he asked again just to be sure, and if he got it right he would follow it up with another simple question. "W-what are you doing here?"

Verena offered a smile to the Green Mantis when she saw him. She had to admit, she wasn't exactly expecting to see him here, and yet at the same time, she almost felt as if she knew he would be here. A set of contradictory feelings when she saw him. She had to admit, given her attire, it was strange being seen like this at all. "...Well, I was here for the Kikka Reclamation Effort too, wasn't I?" she inquired as she stared at the memorial.[break][break]
Silence fell after that, Verena not having much to say. After all, it wasn't as if she was able to contribute much to it. She just did what she could. She was weak. Powerless. Powerless to save anyone without some degree of negotiation, in a bid to have a mutually beneficial agreement between a Daemon. An enemy. The fact it was so completely out of her hands was ... frustrating, to say the least. So that was why she didn't say she helped. Because she felt she didn't. She was simply there for it.[break][break]
Even when she saw the people who had come with Valo, she still managed to keep silent for a moment. Wraith spirits. She could tell that it was mana that was keeping them alive, and having met Chi and Ko before, she was already familiar with the sensation of Wraith magic. To that end, it wasn't a surprise. However, what was a surprise was that he had it at all. Turning from the memorial to face the group, she placed one leg over the other, dipping ever so slightly so as to perform a curtsey before the group. Befitting of her noble heritage.[break][break]
"I must say, Wraith magic is a new one," Verena noted as she looked at Valo's necklace. It was certainly a brand new item, and she could feel the mana coming from it being identical to the feeling that came from the group that came with Valo.[break][break]
Of course, she wasn't going to hold it against him. Whatever or however he had managed to get it, in the pit of her stomach she felt it best not to ask. It was likely a painful story if the rumors were anything to go by, at least. Not least of all if he had brought them all here to the Kikka Memorial in the cemetery.[break][break]
"...But no, I'm truly just here because I'm reflecting and thinking. I've only got a single chance to pass the Royal Knight Exams, after all. If I do succeed, then my family will have no choice but to accept me as the family head. It has been the family dream for a couple hundred years, after all. But I don't know if I'm strong enough. There's going to be plenty of powerful mages coming. And so I'm worried that I might not be up to par. So I hoped that by coming here, I would be able to steel my resolve..."[break][break]
Verena let out an awkward laugh, rubbing her neck. "...Sorry, that must all sound silly."[break][break]

"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
"...Well, I was here for the Kikka Reclamation Effort too, wasn't I?"
Valo chuckled when she spoke, she right she was there as well. It probably was a silly question to ask but now he couldn't take it back. But he was more surprised to see her here at this point, from what he knew about her she wasn't from Kikka. But it spoke a lot about her character if she was here to pay her respects as well.
Some silence was in the air for just a few moments, Valo had closed his eyes and dropped his a little to pay respects to the grave he was standing in front of. Charlotte, Nanami and Agneya who was still on top of his head did the same. Kiyoshi struggled at first but he did eventually close his eyes and bow after seeing his twin sister do the same. Kiyoshi and Anata were new to Valo's life, they were slowly beginning to understand him and he was slowing starting to understand them. It was going to be a road ahead for the everyone involved, but the potential for it actually work was there. And it started with Anata, she was more gentle and understanding then her brother Kiyoshi who seemed to always bump heads with Valo.
Eventually Verena had turned to face the group, and did a small curtsey with one leg in front of the other. Valo raised an eyebrow when he saw her do this, with a small surprised look on his face. He had seen curtsey's before but they were rarely ever for him, and he had to remember Verena did come from a noble background. Seeing her curtsey Charlotte the motherly women holding her small daughter giggled with her gentle hand over her lips. Nanami was back on the ground and was trying to mirror Verena's curtsey. "I can do that too." she said cutely trying to put one leg before the other. Charlotte did a small bow. "My names Charlotte and this is Nanami." she said gesturing to the little one.
Anata the younger female wraith spirit, did a gentle small bow as well. "I am Anata and this is my brother Kiyoshi." she said referring to the only male wraith who just closed his eyes and nodded. "It is a pleasure to meet you."
"Everyone this is Verena, she's a friend. And yes the magic is new...for me. They are a gift. Oh and Agneya." Valo said pointing to his head to the small female sprite. Agneya stood up and starting flying around. "My names is Agneya Astra, flame spirit! And don't you forget it!" she said proudly crossing her arms.
"Mmmmm this is boring. Master I would prefer to be unsummoned here. There is no reason for us to be out here."
"Fine Kiyoshi."
"Come along Anata."
"I-I would like to stay...if you...if you don't mind brother."
Kiyoshi looked a little annoyed and was about to decline her request, but a hard look from Valo was enough for him to say nothing and disappear back into the necklace. Anata looked at Valo with a small smile, and he nodded to her. "Sorry about that, this is all rather new to me. I'm still learning how to balance all this haha!"
Verena then spoke of the real reason's why she was here, with Valo stepping beside her to hear her more clear. Charlotte, Nanami, Anata and Agneya started to walk around the memorial site. Leaving the two to talk for a little while. Verena's words went on about how she was nervous about the upcoming Royal Knight Exams, and how it tied to her family. It was important to her that she not only participate but also win, so that it could help become the family head. Valo knew very little about noble families aside from what Hinota has told him, so he couldn't really give any advice on that front. But what he did now was strength, resolve and seeking power. "That doesn't sound silly at all Verena." he said quickly after her.
"What happened here in Kikka was very tough for everyone involved. But we made it out, and we won in the end. Despite all those horrors, we made it out and became stronger because of it. There aren't a lot of places in the world that can steel your resolve like Kikka. Trust me I know, because I grew up here." he said with a smile.
"Your gonna crush the Royal Knight Exams! Your probably one of the most talented and level headed mages I know. You can use a ton of different elements to create all types of golems! and not only that it's the way you create and use them. I thought my golems were impressive, but they pale in comparison to what yours can do. Have some confidence! Steel the nerves and the resolve! And you'll be fine!" Valo said to her with a bright smile on his face, and he meant every word he said.
"Is there anything I can do to help you out? Just let me know!"

She was in fact not from Kikka. Born and raised in a small town (or what would constitute for such within the Noble Region, at least), Verena never really had much reason to ever leave the region, let alone the permission. Her entire life was spent in those borders and she never questioned it. She simply silently obeyed whatever was asked of her, as any noble daughter would do. That is until she was nearly killed by her own father and put on a timer.[break][break]
Taking note of the silence, Verena returned the gesture, head bowed and hands clasped in prayer to show her respects to those who had died too soon. Those who shouldn't have died unnecessarily. Those who died because of the foolishness of others and those who died because of the wickedness that was the archdaemon, Sven. It was over. But the pain and damage that was caused during this time had not healed; nor would it any time soon. There was still a long way to go.[break][break]
Once that that was finished, introductions were due. Of course, she was the first one to take the initiative. Ordinarily, as a "guest" within his hometown, he should have been the one to make introductions first. However, Valo didn't strike her as the sort who was familiar with the courtesy of the Noble region, and honestly, she didn't think it mattered right now, especially due to the surprise on his part with her presence. It seemed as though he didn't recognize her at first, too.[break][break]
"Those are lovely names," she said as she looked to each one as names were being introduced. Kneeling down to Nanami, patting her head with a gentle smile. "You certainly can."[break][break]
The brunette glanced up to Valo at the sight of the child, however. It seemed she had some questions, but felt it inappropriate to ask right now of all places. Especially with the young child present. It wasn't hard to figure out what was going through her mind though; any normal person would wonder the same if they saw a child being summoned through Wraith magic. Verena didn't express a look of disgust; there was a real concern though, however.[break][break]
Agneya rose up, flying around as if on cue from the other introductions. Verena couldn't help but smile softly as she saw the spirit. "We've only just met, and yet I'm getting a similar impression from you as I do with Hama, a Spirit of Sap. Hama gets along well with Cyrus, so I assume that you and Valo are good friends as well."[break][break]
Perhaps the most surprising thing was that Verena didn't even so much as show the slightest bit of surprise, but rather, she seemed genuinely happy to meet the spirit. She didn't show any real shock when seeing the Wraiths or surprise at a Lesser Spirit. For her, she was able to take all of these things in stride, capable of accepting most things before her. And that was why she didn't express any real surprise or shock despite all the strange and amazing things present right now.[break][break]
"It's a pleasure to meet all of you," she said, though it seemed Kiyoshi didn't seem too interested in staying around. Unfortunate. She did wish she could have gotten to speak to all of them a bit more.[break][break]
"It's all right. It seems as though everyone has managed to retain their sense of selves. So it seems you simply have valuable allies you can call upon at will. Treat them as such and I'm sure everything will work itself out just fine," Verena said, her voice as calming as could be despite her own anxiety.[break][break]
Valo offered her words of encouragement, catching her off guard. There was no way she could compare to someone like him or Cyrus. They were simply too strong. That was why they had automatically qualified as Royal Knights, after all. She still had a long way to go. She had already heard of a number of powerful mages who would be participating, some of whom she had heard about. She wasn't too sure... but it seemed as though Valo still seemed to hold some degree of confidence in her. She didn't quite understand why, but far be it for her to question it.[break][break]
"...My magic is one that benefits not just from training, but from quantity. Versatility is everything. I might have learned fire magic, but..." her eyes glanced over to one of the Wraiths. "...If any of them would be willing to teach me magic, that would be ideal. It's probably draining to have so many out at once. Water magic or some method to put out flames would be ideal. It would also work nicely to create steam that could physically hide others or myself."

Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
Valo listened as she explained one of the benefits to her magic, and it made perfect sense. He wasn't going to argue with her at all, he knew full well no one knew their own magic and bodies better then themselves. Everyone needed different ways to get stronger, some needed more physical training others needed more mental. Valo's own strength came from relentless training, and more physical hard work. But his style of battle and magic was entirely different from Verena's. His style was more simple and straightforward, overwhelming power and speed with suitable counters when needed and golems for support. While Verena was all about golems, versatility, support commands and multitude of different elements to switch into.
She then stated a solid idea involving the wraiths. She asked if any of them had elements to teach her, which they did! Valo's eyes widened at the thought of it. "Oh yea! They do! Charlotte uses permeation and fire, Kiyoshi uses sword and also fire, Anata has access to world tree and water! I'm sure Anata would be willing to train you in water, she's kind and patient unlike her brother." Valo said with a laugh. "Anata! We need your help!" the fire mage suddenly called out. Causing the young royal wraith to start walking towards them. "You asked for my assistance, young master." Anata asked him a light interest in her eyes. "Just Valo is ok Anata, but anyways. Would you be willing to to teach Verena your water magic?" he asked her nodding in Verena's direction. Giving her the time to speak her case.
Anata would look at Verena for a moment, before answering. "I don't mind teaching my water magic at all. If my mast-Valo asks I will do my best to teach. But I do require some proof that you are worth teaching at all Verena. Not that I doubt you or your abilities, but I need let's say a visualization." Anata said with a polite tone of voice. Valo was already tapping his chin pondering how could Verena show off what she was a capable of, and how it might be enough for Anata to train her in water magic. Then an idea popped in his head!
"I know! Since Kikka has been in this rebuilding stage, I have been taking care of any incoming bandits or freeloaders when I can. Perhaps thats a good way for you to show off what you can do!" Valo said with a grin already moving towards the exit of the memorial. "Summon a golem and follow me!" he said now in a shout waving for Verena, the fire mage then would moved with about half of his actual speed toward a location.
If the summoner did follow, in just a few minutes they would arrive at certain part in the woods. Where a few campfires could be seen from a distance. "There should be about three small camp sites of bandits in these woods, I was going to take care of them on my way back to Hage. But they could be used for Verena to show off her skills and her golems." Valo said crossing his arms. Anata nodded in agreement. "If you show me what you can do here, I will train you in water magic." she said simply. Charlotte and Nanami behind them nodded as well. "Good Luck."
Valo smiling at the summoner with his thumb up. "You got this."

Those were all useful elements that Valo had access to. It was obvious that she wanted nothing more than to stop what she was doing right now and learn all of them. But that wasn't realistic. Not with the time she had. Nor was it fair to ask this of all of them, nor was it fair to Valo. She wished she had been a bit greedier, but she also knew that she needed water magic so that she could counter the inevitable fires that could be caused. [break][break]
The magic she had managed to obtain via Echo not too long ago was best used as a sort of trump card. It would without question catch people off guard. So it wouldn't be wise to use it here. Ideally, the less people who knew about the extent of her abilities, the better it was for her. If anyone was familiar with her, it likely began and ended that she possessed a rare type of magic that allowed her to conjure a variety of elements. But it was unlikely that any of them would actually be able to predict what types of elements she had.[break][break]
"After the Royal Knight Exams..." the brunette began to spoke as she addressed the Wraiths before her eyes settled on Valo.[break][break]
There was almost a sparkle in her eye. Her curiousity had been peaked. She absolutely had to have all of this. Needed all of this. She was clearly having to actively use a type of self control that she was not used to performing. It was if she was ready to jump out of her own skin like a snake shedding from it's previous shell-- ready to jump right into the future without any reason or necessity than her own self interest.[break][break]
Verena had to take a deep breath before she began again. Clearing her throat, she tried again. "After the Royal Knight Exams, I absolutely must talk to you and see what else is possible," she said, genuinely needing to compose herself. Her mind was racing through possibilities of what else was possible.[break][break]
Verena was still quite surprised that these Wraiths referred to him as "young master". She knew that the Stark family from which he belonged was a Noble Family like her own... or rather, a proper noble family. However, with how he had always carried himself, it was hard to remember that sometimes, even despite all the success, he was supposedly related to that family, and it wasn't just some sort of convenient family name. It just happened to be that way.[break][break]
Anata was on board to teach her the magic, thankfully. However, it seemed that she wanted some sort of demonstration. That was fine. The woman was more than confident in her ability to provide ample proof she was worth teaching. Despite her... earlier antic, even if she had managed to keep it somewhat in check.[break][break]
Verena did follow, conjuring up some sort of golem that would offer some sort of help with the mobility to keep up as best as she could. This bandit camp was broken up into three different areas. "Is it acceptable if I try to detain or incapacitate them?" she inquired as they arrived at the site, her tone hushed. "It's very possible that they might have knowledge on some other, larger groups. It might be more beneficial to take them into custody. Bandits tend to hear a lot after all."[break][break]
There wasn't any doubt in her voice. In her expression. She could already tell she was much stronger than any other bandit here. There was only "she would" because she could. Once given the say so.[break][break]
Three different types of golems, all different elements. The first golem was capable of flight, which she would use to keep an eye on any possible escaping bandits. She made sure to summon as many of them as possible, thus giving her a total of three. These three were ordered to soar and encircle the camp, keeping an eye on the bandits and not to allow any to escape.[break][break]
Harp'ee was also summoned in its maximum number, and it's purpose was to lure the enemies straight to Terra. If this camp was the made up of three smaller camps, then there were any number of escape routes. Kikka would eliminate that, and then they would all meet the last of their freedom in the hands of her colossal golem.[break][break]
And so, her golems all moved out. It didn't take a lot of effort on her part. Everything went exactly as she thought. The chaos of the situation was already enough to give her golems an edge, but combined she had also used her relic prior, allowing her to keep a more accurate eye on the battlefield, and it allowed her to anticipate the actions that the bandits might take, thus allowing her to use them to attack when they were about to be attacked themselves.[break][break]
Kikka did it's job flawlessly, her flying golem diving down to cut off the paths of any retreats and offer backup as needed. And finally, the Harp'ee and Kikka golems alike were able to bring the bandits to the only remaining path available to them:[break][break]
into the giant hands of terra, striking them down and then picking them up as though they were twigs.[break][break]
Verena glanced over to Valo and the others. "Do you need me to gather any injured bandits here and use Terra to use his weight to keep them sustained till they can all be properly arrested by the Magic Knights?"

It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
The fire mage simply folded his arms and stood watch as Verena got to work. He had seen a few of her summons on the past, so he was pretty confident he knew what she was capable of. But like him Verena skills and abilities didn't stay stagnant, she was constantly improving and sharpening her skills time and time again. They way they used their magic was very different, but the thirst for strength was the same. That's what Valo admired about the summoner the most. Her hunger for improving, for getting better and stronger nearly matched his own. So a wide smirk was on his face as he watched his friend summon her golems and put them to use with quick and efficient fashion.
"Young master. I mean Valo. If you don't mind would you giving me a better arial view. Just so I can see what Lady Verena's golems are capable of." Anata asked the fire mage with a light bow. "Sure." Valo replied quickly with a snap of his fingers, his grimoire shot out five individual flames that formed into large birds. Creating the Hi no Tori. Each bird allowing a person to ride on, when Anata hopped on one. She was taken up into the air giving her a nice bird's eye view of the forrest. Charlotte and Nanami followed suit and did the same. Valo though did not, he didn't need to see the display his confidence in Verena's was enough. But Agneya also took to the skies to watch it all play out, the fire spirit was hard to impress. But she had to admit Verena's spells were absolutely nothing to scuff at.
They watched as Verena's three different variants of golems each one given a specific instruction, and executed that order in precise fashion. It was an amazingly efficient display of control, magic and order. Which in comparison to Valo whose ways were more destructive and physical than most. It was a rare sight for them. During this time Valo would ask Verena a simple question. "Verena. Why aren't you a magic knight? Any squad would be thrilled to have someone of your capabilities." Soon after that the display was all over, Valo's fire bird golems floated down to the ground with each person on top of one gently stepping onto the floor. "Thank you, young master." Anata bowed in Valo's direction. Who was about to attest to being called master again, but he was slowly giving up that fight. "Yea thats a solid idea Verena." Valo answered her question about gathering all the bandits up.
The beautiful female wraith then faced Verena. "Lady Verena your display of magic, and your control is certainly impressive. Very impressive. The use of different elements and different commands all executed with precise instructions. I do believe the element of water would serve you well. Our methods are similar, as in we let our precise control of magic do the heavy lifting for us. Unlike young master and my brother Kiyoshi who are more...hands on." Anata said walking towards the summoner while holding her hands out and forming a small ball sized water bubble.
"Water is the element of adaptation." Anata then had the water bubble float into the air and burst into small light rain. "It can be gentle and soothing. Used to put out destructive flames. But it can also be hard and full of force and become nearly unstoppable." she continued creating another larger water bubble that turned into a torrent of force that was shot into the distance. "You understand yes?"
And if that was enough for the summoner to understand, Valo would continue his duty as a magic knight by gathering the bandits for arrest. Him and his fire spirit Agneya would make their way back home to Hage.

[attr="class","verenaver2scroll"]
It was a simple question. Why wasn't she a Magic Knight. She supposed it was a fair question given the performance she was putting on, but truthfully she wasn't all that impressed. The level she was picking up from these bandits was junior level, an occassional intermediate based on the resistance she could pick up. Nothing about these bandits was impressive or reason for her to doubt herself.[break][break]
Even still, even if it was a simple question, the answer wasn't so simple. But if she was to simplify it by omitting some details... "I simply wanted to take the Exams. Though with the Royal Knight Exams coming up, I'd say that was a far more valuable cause to try out for, wouldn't you agree?" she rhetorically asked, momentarily looking up at him before returning her gaze to her golem. "Though of course, I also fully intend on becoming a fully fledged Magic Knight as well. But it's been my family's dream to make into the Royal Knights since our founding. I couldn't well pass that up."[break][break]
At this point, Anata and the others had returned. Anata had little issue with training Verena, something the brunette was quite grateful for. In fact, she couldn't tell if she was belittling Valo and Kiyoshi or if she was offering a different type of praise. Impressive. Whoever she was, she would have been formiddable in the political scheming that dominated the Noble Region.[break][break]
Verena had her golems bring the incapacitated bandits and brought them towards the remaining members of the camp as she listened to Anata explain just what to expect from water magic. Water magic, like fire, earth, and wind magic, was something she had extensively studied so she was familiar with the applications. But without being near the actual source of mana, it was much harder to actually do anything. After all, she needed to be able to befriend the mana itself.[break][break]
Even still, she extensively listened to Anata's words. They were vital. It wasn't just what information was said -- it was how she said it. Her body language. Her tone of voice. It was everything she wasn't saying about the magic that was just as important. Because the mana she was capable of calling upon was just as likely to think and feel the same way, something that she had confirmed when she took notice of that water bubble.[break][break]
With a deep breath, Verena closed her eyes as she outstretched her arms. That brief, ephemeral moment of that bubble's "life" had spread a small portion of the area with water mana. Between that and the initial instance of it's usage, the brunette had managed to get a read on just what it was water wanted. What it valued. What it embodied.[break][break]
It didn't just want someone who was "adaptable". It wanted someone who was decisive. Who could make calm decisions and could stand by those decisions. If fire magic was an unstoppable beast of desire, then water magic could be a cold and calculating machine. Yet it did not wish to sacrifice anyone or anything. She could tell that this type of magic -- especially from it's user -- was calm and collected, but not truly cold. No, this was an especially compassionate mana that wished only for the best for those around it. Depending on the user, however, it certainly had that possibility of being cold and self serving.[break][break]
"You don't need to worry," Verena began to say within her mind's mind, communicating with the mana the way only summoners were capable of. "I won't let anything bad happen to innocent people. I won't let anything bad happen to Valo, either."[break][break]
"...You find it strange I picked up on that? It's not so surprising. Valo is a charismatic young man. The fact he has a spirit means that mana itself trusts him. It's not so strange to me that even if he uses fire magic, you'd view him as a reliable ally, even if a human. He's earnest. He's not an idiot, nor is he a master tactician. He's himself. He's true. I won't pretend I can understand the feelings of a primordial force older than man itself, but... I imagine it's tiring seeing so many fake people."[break][break]
"...Am I fake? ...Perhaps at times, yes. Sometimes, lying to oneself is necessary to grow stronger. People need something to believe in. I don't particularly believe in religion, but I do believe that if I become stronger, I can save many more people. By becoming stronger, more pathways are opened to me. That flexibility is both my greatest strength as a Summoner and as a human being. I don't accept only one answer; I seek all answers. And then the one that I like the most is what I accept as my resolve without looking back. That's who I have become. And who I will remain. Does that answer your question?"
Unlike the other instances, Verena did not actually recieve an immediate response. This concerned her for a moment, before a great maelstrom of mana all poured in all at once. And yet despite the overwhelming pouring of mana into the area, it was just as Anata described -- gentle. Soothing. And those same feelings all poured into her grimoire.
