[attr=id,pryHEAD] Backstory
[break]
Spring and summer have come and gone, the weather has started to be come cooler and the evenings come a lot quicker than they once did. Just looking around the normal lush area of Hage village and surrounding areas it is easy to see that winter is quickly approaching as farmers have started to bring in the harvest, trees once green leaves have started to turn red and amber. Before the first leaves fall a tradition from long ago has to take place. The spirit festival. No one is quite sure on how, when or why this tradition started, depending on who you ask will really depend on the answer you get and if you ask more than one person you could gain contradicting stories leaving a person to make up their own mind. [break][break] The most common reasoning was that due to the veil of the living and the dead being so thin things that shouldn't be in the world seemed to have been able to cross over. They envied what they couldn't have or no longer possessed and so started causing trouble for those around them. The Captain of the Green Mantis wanted to protect the people of their home from the mischief and threats of these beings and so held a festival filled with food, music and games one year. In this festival everyone was told to dress in costumes so no one would know living from spirit and that they could play harmless tricks, play games, dance, sing, eat and be merry. Children and teens could even go gathering treats from stalls and houses if they so desired. There was worry about cost but the captain said that he would cover everything and not to worry. [break][break] The first festival was hit and miss but as the years went on it seemed to get better, those who went a little too far were warned and those who did go too far got arrested. Yes, it was a festival and yes the Green Mantis were also there to enjoy themselves but they understood they also had a duty to the people of Hage and so were aware of things going on around them. Now, it is a tradition the Green Mantis have and something that the people do in the hopes to spend time with their loved ones, whether they are alive or dead.

[break]
Once again we come together to honour this age old tradition. Barron would say that the veil of life and death thins at this time and I fully agree though where we differ is I believe it is a time where the cycle of life and death meet and closure for those on each side of it can be found or given. [break][break] I welcome everyone, young, old, living and dead to this, our beloved spirit festival. My predecessor had been the protector of this time honoured event and its meaning for years and I admit, I find it daunting to be the one to take on such a mantle after such a great man had it for so long. [break][break] Nevertheless, come and celebrate the cycle of life and death as well as the cute and spooky. You never know you may even have your own brush with a ghost of the past and reunite with a loved one. Regardless of if you are looking for a night of fun or fright, I'm sure that this will be a night to remember under the light of the full moon.

Saeka yawned as she sat on her broom heading for the spiritual festival. she has not slept the best since going to spend a day out at the black market, she couldn't place why but she felt like there was something watching from behind her, along with the sudden letter of a taunt. She not a killer? they didn't know what she was and they were lucky she didn't know who they were, or she just might make them part of her kill room. Maybe.
She landed gently setting the broom aside as she felt the two pigtails holding her head hostage before feeling out the lush red dress she looked behind her at the fake wings and tail as it took awhile to adjust them to look right with her size and body as she looked around. "Alright lets go see which spirits we will see tonight."She said to herself moving into the spirit festival. stopping at the greeting of the new and even more creepy green mantis captain, why is it they always have to be creepy? They were suppose to be the faces of the military, a branch of good. Yet here they were going creepy. She sighed shaking her head as she looked forwards skipping in with a light hum and the words that escaped: "You bloomed from the abyss."

"I got my grimoire. I don't need any of my items tonight. I'm fine, it will be fine."Said amaya to herself pacing in her room walking around to ensure she had everything. She loved the spirit festival. it was her favorite one form getting leone, to the costumes. It was beautiful and fun, she also knew after this festival drew her closer to the day she would visit her parents and tell them of the year along with telling them her usual feelings she always hide in her diary. She was strong and could smile through her pains of anything but when it came to them. She wasn't strong, Part of her might never be strong.
She felt the feathers in her hair as she choose a simple bird themed gown. She mimicked a lot of the feathers that were in her mother's own witch hat. the woman was someone amaya hoped to be one day, strong and brave, willing to put her life down for her childern. Amaya shaked her head getting out of her thoughts as she left her room, leaving the estate in a carriage heading to the spirit festival. She knew sol was going to already be there. he was the captain that ran this festival now. it was only proper she be there for his first speech. She hoped he did it right.
She felt the carriage stop as she got out as she straightened her outfit as she looked towards the crowd that gathered for his speech as she smiled listening clapping for him as she was happy to see him coming into his own. she could only hope she could spend some time with him but she understood if he was going to be to busy to give her time.
Post by Ryoshi Miten on Oct 9, 2024 3:30:03 GMT -5
Ryoshi arrived at the spirit festival to see what all the commotion was about and figured it was always a good chance to get some information and see who he could possibly make connections with or extract a favor from, because of the time of year he had dressed up to match the occasion with a pair of boots on his feet a pair of dark red almost maroon pants that seemed frayed at the pant ends, it was held up by a buckle as his chest was covered in a dark shirt with a dark vest over it and a matching maroon coat on that though above that was a cape with a collar that was black on one side but inside it was a more vibrant red. He had a pair of gloves on his hands and a tophat sitting on his white hair. He looked like a mix between a hunter and a gentleman as he had his sickles hidden under his cape since he never left them off his person,
as he watched the new captain step forward and give a speech Ryoshi watched with a bit of interest since he had heard that the Green Mantis had a new captain but it seemed the man was rather exotic to say the least and if the rumors about his magic were true not someone to toy with though Ryoshi had no intention of having a brush with death. Glancing around he wondered where to head to.”hmm what to try first so many choices” he muttered to himself as he debated over if he should go to the zombie event or pumpkin carving.

Sol stepped off the stage to join the festivities himself, while his squad was the one in charge of the festival he wanted to move around and see how everyone was doing, The captain was dressed to fit the occasion with what seemed like traditional clothing from the east that had various shades of white and greens with his hair up in a high ponytail and a band across his head, his robes had long sleeves and his feet were clad in geta sandals, the outfit itself had had quite a few tassels on it as well as a few gold accents but combined with Sols red eyes it almost seemed as if the tall captain looked like a nature Spirit.as he walked thru the crowd he spotted Amaya and he grinned as he would move to follow her to whatever event she was planning on doing first, in truth he was happy that they would get to spend some time together since while he kept in contact with her regularly the work of a captain kept him busy but he made sure to try and find time when he could to visit her.
He saw a few other faces in the crowd but so far none that he recognized but that was alright this was a night for celebration and enjoyment he was sure he would meet plenty of new people at this festival and make sure that it was a night to remember just like all the ones that had come before it, this was his first time running such a thing and he was determined not to disgrace barron and to make sure this went off without a hitch.
An ornate katana with a twenty-four-inch (60 cm) blade. the sheath is made of what seems to be made of marble which has been carefully carved into and engraved with what looks like ruby, the base of the sheath has a gold kojiri. Just above the midway point, there seems to be a piece of onyx that has been set around the sheath, the top and bottom of the onyx seems to have the same white marble though it has been fashioned to look almost like fur or feathers. Connected to the onyx there seems to be additional ruby fastenings with ruby chains connecting one part to the next, near the top there is a ruby set in gold that leads off to three carmine red tassels. The handguard seems to be made out of gold leading into the hilt a hilt that is just under half the size of the blade that covered in lackered red marble before being surrounded in black ribbon with gold helm and small ruby beads at each crossing pattern of the ribbon.
The corrupting shadow was made using an unknown method outside of a certain noble family within Clover. This family has been shunned by many other noble houses because of their appearances and they macabre magic that they are born with so choose to remain in the forsaken region instead of the noble. Not a lot is known about this secretive family, it's hierarchy or its family mechanics and they aim to keep it that way, it allows them to continue doing what they are without too many questions being asked. One thing people will notice of this family is that when they pass their trial of adulthood they start wielding a weapon of some sort and how the dynamics of the family will change to that person.

[attr="class","raescroll"] Now that summer and spring had gone, another festive season was about to start. The Spirit Festival was always held with the going of the leaves, and as Jevi made his way to Hage he noted how the landscape was slowly changing once more. Soon the winter would rear its head and bring snow and cold to Clover, but for now Jevi enjoyed the mild temperature and beautiful colors of fall. Currently he was dressed up, as was of course tradition for the Spirit Festival so no one could see who was living or dead. He enjoyed these traditions, as they were close to mythology in terms of story. Perhaps it was all just superstition, but the idea behind it was quite wonderful. During this time of year, the veil between the living and the death was so thin that they death could cross over. At first, they wanted to make the living suffer out of jealousy for what they no longer had, but thanks to a Green Mantis captain from the past the death were more welcomed to participate in celebrations and enjoy themselves during the time they could cross over. This made the death feel welcomed, and so every year the Green Mantis hosted this festival to honor the traditions of the past, as well as the death themselves. [break][break] His costume was rather simple, yet effective. Instead of his usual blues and whites, Jevi was now dressed in black with red accents across his outfit. The cape he wore had a popped collar, black on the outside and bright red on the inside. The coat he wore was black with red accents as well, making him look like a sort of gentleman. Black dress pants and shoes completed the look for that part, though he wore an eye mask and fake teeth as well to give him slight fangs. The vampire costume was fun, and with his white hair it worked quite well. Still, due to his hair and his ice-blue eyes still showing behind the black mask it was still easy to see it was him. Not that he minded. When his carriage arrived in Hage, Jevi got out and began to walk around the area before noting a familiar face. Her white hair was unmistakable, even in her bird themed gown. As Amaya found a spot to listen to Sol’s opening speech, Jevi walked up to her with a smile on his face. “Great to see you again, Amaya. How have you been?” He stayed by her side, listening to Sol now that he started and clapping along with the rest. Of course, he knew Amaya was in a relationship with Sol, so he turned to her to acknowledge as such. “You must be so proud of him.” It was nice to see Sol taking the lead like this, though Jevi had no doubts that the man was capable after the dungeon they had been in together. “Were there any events that piqued your interest? I wouldn’t mind going together, if you’ll have me of course.” Sol also joined them now that his speech had finished, bringing a smile to Jevi's face. "Great speech, Sol. Good to see you again as well!"

This year was different from the others. He had let Lanying and Enlai go as they normally do but he stayed home to prepare his outfit and begin his prayers. He didn’t often pay homage to the “Gods” of the world. Though he knew they were most likely true and existing it didn’t matter to him. Not while Xia existed. The ancient holy words of his once mortal ancestor spoke clear: The only gods that ever existed where the one Humanity made. Either through their cultures or legends, or through the means of truly ascending to Godhood; a feat that Xia had doubted happened more then a few Dozen times. Jirou himself was sure that since Xias time more Gods had been formed, and no doubt they numbered in the hundred easily.
Xia had been tied closely to the ancient spirits of their shared homeland and so Jirou truly did worship them. But never as much as Xia and only ever once every 5 years. He falsely prayed with his family when needed and did all the steps to partake in festivals. Yet even still…. he did believe in them. He made his way through the shrines he could and prayed before finally joining the Spirit Festival proper. He smiled as he was able to properly pay his respects as well as enjoy himself. Because this world was for himself to enjoy.
Ozma stepped out of the carriage as it arrived at the spirit festival grounds, unlike some of the others years this year he took inspiration from his companion Jiayi his kitsune, he had on traditional shoes but from there he had on baggy pants that were were wrapped near his ankles and hhe also had a rope like sash on his waist from which nine black foxlike tails hung from with white tips and on his head were two black fox ears on a band that was easily hidden by his hair as were his human ears, his upper body was in a simple black silk shirt that matched his pants but it was unique as it only had a sleeve on the left side leaving his right arm and part of his chest exposed, what finished it was a cloak ontop that was a plum color that had pink flowers up on the sleeve and around six flowers near the base of the cloak.
With the outfit the Yuiee heir looked like a Kitsune in human form as he gained a small smile as he approached the crowd and he glanced around as he spotted his brother in an outfit that in in his mind was a bit too bright for such an occasion but then again his brother was a peacock and nothing would ever change that, Ozma himself was leaning into the supernatural then the spiritual for this occasion and he glanced around to spot any other familier faces and he spotted Jevi talking to the Ravencrest heiress and as the new captain of Green Mantis spoke Ozma turned his attention to him. The Prince had heard the man was unique and that was putting it mildly and from what he had heard as well he didn't get along with his brother but again that wasn't a surprise since Jirou was well Jirou but Ozma knew that if Sol had been chosen to be the new captain then he was sure that the squad would be in good hands.

Aura dropped out of the carriage once it came to a stop in Hage, her cloak settling back around her body, hood in place before hse looked up and gave the carriage man a smile and a small wave. The girl's hand rested on the hilt of her sword under her cloak passively, taking in the sights and sounds. She had been to the festival a few times with her mom, but after her death she hadn't seen the festival in person. She had liked the way they handled things, Halloween having been a long time favorite because it gave her an excuse to dress up in fun costumes, even if most of them were basically just rags. These weren't rags though, but something she commissioned for the event.
A red cloak with a hood, corset over a black and gray low cut top. A red frilled shorter skirt, something easy for the dancer to move in ultimately along with thigh high boots. Of course the only thing that didn't fit was her mother's sword but she had it wrapped once again to make drawing it a hassle that wasn't worth it unless in the most dire of situations. Really she just felt the need to be prepared for the worst of the worst, even if she highly doubted it would happen. Not to mention there were people like Sol around, obviously too really considering it was his squad's event. A strong captain in the area would deter anything bad from happening, right? Well one would hope it would but one could also never tell.
Once he finished his speech she rolled back on her heels, humming lightly as she considered what was going on. She had always enjoyed things like haunted houses as a child, but would she still like them? She mulled over a little about what he meant by a ghost of the past. The only ghost of hte past she was genuinely interested in meeting at some point would be the man she had never seen as far as she could gather; her own father. She shook her head light, highly doubting she'd meet the man in a place like this, or even know that it was her father. Part of her had always wondered if she had a sibling as well, though she highly doubted she would ever learn the truth of either. She shook off the thoughts, her attention turning towards what the events were. There were some things that made her curious, like Trick-or-Treating but she didn't want to take away from the actual kids. Sure, she remembered having fun as one but she was no longer a kid at her mother's side.
Instead the mansion caught her attention. It was something she had never remembered seeing before so she made her way there, her curiosity getting the better of her.

When these items were built they were made out of a special material that allows them to be unbreakable from any sort of attack, but does not block the wearer from any attacks. Magic Knights of the Clover Kingdom has worn these Mantles for hundreds of years. Abilities:
An elegant looking two handed sword made of silver, gold and what appears to be imbedded with lapras at the hilt and blade. It is easy to say that this blade was made with a keen eye for detail and was made as a labour of love. When held by its owner though it will glow a pale blue in certain parts of the hilt and blade while having an aura that seems to emanate from the blade itself.
Lore:
In noble and common families alike family heirlooms are often created at the beginning of the family tree and handed down from one generation to the next. This sword is no different, it does have a crest of a noble house on it however no historical books show it matching to any house common or otherwise making this blade a truly forgotten and enigmatic heirloom.

With the use of the ammo rules, additional tri-slashes can be created. As stated above the sword acts strangely, the owner will find if they are disarmed while this ability is active and the sword is still within 10m of them their strength would have miraculously increased as if those who held the sword before them are attempting to aid them.

Sumire stretched getting out of her carriage adjusting her knee high frilly dress. It wasn't something she was use too having and it was shorter and more bouncy then her hanfus but it was one time of the year she could wear something other then traditional. it was the one time her father would let them do something other then their normal.
She pulled up the red hood over her head she had put blonde fox ears attatched to the hood. She placed on her fox mask, she had her manabeasts assist in designing and coloring with the blue markings. She pulled at her dress some adjusting the nine fox like tails she and her siblings all made from left over fabrics and fillings. It was a familly project.
She wasn't sure if enlil was going to have time to come to the spirit festival but nights like this was a time she could get to know and handle. It was a night to play along with the spirits. Maybe she could find some to get some wisdom from, or find a mischievious being within the crowd.
[attr="class","Enlilimage"]❝Even a storm can be calm under the right circumstances.
[attr="class","Enlilscroll"]The weather had slowly become colder over the past few weeks, the leaves turning from a lush green to golden amber. There was one surefire way for those within the socialite circles to know that the fall social season had begun and that was with the start of the spirit festival. It was expected of them all to turn up even for a short time and enjoy the evening together, even when they were young children running around with their guards, nannies and maids. He had something special up his sleeve this time, when everyone was discussing what they were dressing up as for the festival he confessed he hadn't made up his mind. He had it just needed his father's approval as it was out of the normal limits of the family. His father wanted to see the design and the fabric being used before he agreed.
Enlil had requested Hania to design his costume, it had caught the ice mage off guard but he agreed as it was a Halloween costume and he was quite sure it would scare the rest of his circle. The entire design down to colour, pattern, fabric and accessories had been decided by the head of the Ravencrest. He knew he could trust the man and that it was his best chance to pull this costume off. When the detailed sketches were received by his father it was quickly decided that he could wear the outfit. It was made clear that he would return back to his normal clothing the day after the spirit festival, this suited the wind mage fine as he preferred his ancestral clothing over Clover's fashion, unlike his idiotic sisters who went behind their father's back and were stuck with subpar outfits for the rest of the year as punishment.
Hania had even offered up one of the Ravencrest's unmarked carriages so that the look could be complete which he happily agreed to. On the night of the festival, he arrived just before the new captain of the Green Mantis greeted and spoke to the crowed. He could tell that the man was slightly nervous and how could he not be, they were big shoes he was stepping into. He listened carefully fidgeting ever so slightly, he didn't understand how anyone could were such tight and uncomfortable clothing but he had committed to it and it was only for a night so he could deal with it. When Sol finished addressing the crowd he moved to try find the rest of his circle but knew that in this crowd this would be a task in of itself, until then he would wander around he may even come across Sumire and be able to spend some time with her.

Iji put the finishing touches on his outfit as he headed out of the ravencrest estate and into a carriage that would take him to the Spirit Festival grounds, he always enjoyed the time of year and especially some of the plants and products he could get his hands on that were only available at this time and at the best quality, adjusted his hat as he was dressed in darker colors and had a good number of belts and straps on it as well as boots and some gloves for his hands, on his head was a wide brimmed hate as he looked like a marksmen or a bowman on a stealth mission, he would reach the grounds of the festival and as he stepped out he saw quite a few faces in the crowd, he saw his sister as well as the second son of the Yuiee family who was dressed so brightly it was comical, he listened as the new captain give a speech and while it was clear he was a bit nervous Iji thought he did well, he was going to move to see his sister but when he saw Sol step down from the stage and go over to her he decided to let his sister and her suitor have their moment and he decided he would go and find something else to look into.
He knew he likely would meet up with his sister later on but for now he glanced around to see what he could do and he saw the costume contest and he smirked. “perhaps that might be a good option wouldn't mind getting some opinions on my outfit” he says to himself as he headed in that direction.

It was the first year since the auburn haired woman was able to settle herself down after detaching from her main house for the most part. She let herself work like a commoner partly for the better part of six years, wanting to not fully use the money her father sent her monthly, but she couldn’t say she never touched it at all. She was still an Amriu and she had an image that was still required of her despite herself being out of the running for it. She let herself have a break for the first time and decided to splurge on a costume with the money she had saved up now.
She approached the festival grounds wearing a rendition of an oriental outfit that she had fallen in love with and had custom made for herself. She heard that there would be a costume contest at the spirit festival, and simply donned a headband with ears that hid into her hair and a belt she managed to slip on under her skirt. She enjoyed dressing up for the festivals, and decided that this year she would do it and actually enjoy the festival for herself. She had approached the festival just a bit after all the festivities started, and began to walk around the grounds to see what she wanted to do.
The weather had once again turned from the refreshing spring to the warm summer, now standing within the cooling autumn. Time had certainly moved quickly, as it had been around this time the previous year that she had taken her first steps onto Clovian soil. The land was still so strange, with how much freedom people had. Her guard ensured that she remained true to her father's expectations and loyal to her homeland's traditions. She had a small rundown house within the village of Hage, it wasn't much but she understood there were people far worse off than herself. As soon as she settled she started growing her own vegetables and herbs so she could survive. Every three months her father sent her a small allowance so she could get clothing and food, her father could afford her a better life but this was so she understood her privileged life while away from home.
It was a hard yet simple life but she was happy, she had even started acting as a doctor for some people and had helped deliver a few children. She didn't understand what was being said to her but she was happy to know she was helping those who otherwise would suffer. As the year before she watched as people started to decorate the spirit grounds, she understood that this was something that must happen yearly, she enjoyed festivals but this one scared her due to the experiences she had the year before. She wanted to try again, last year she noticed many people had dressed up and wanted to try but she didn't have anything to dress up as. She had spoken to her guard Hua about it when she had noticed and he had told her not to worry.
In the evening of the festival he brought out a box and handed it to her with a smile, she seemed surprised and confused asking what it was she was met with being told to open it as it would be her costume. She carefully opened the box to find a beautiful red hanfu, clearly made for a lady of means. She thought it was an everyday hanfu and was curious about how he obtained it but as soon as she brought it out of the box she noticed it was a wedding hanfu. she was dressing as a bride for this festival? She thought he was insane, but then he noticed everything. This wasn't a design of the current style but of the ancient imperial court many dynasties back and understood why he believed it would make a good costume. She bowed and quickly went to dressed.
If she hadn't known any better she would have believed this was once an imperial dress but that couldn't be the truth, after dressing she came out of her room with everything as it should be. Hua was dressed as a member of the imperial vanguard of the same era. With that, the pair made their way to the festival grounds. Even then it was full of life and laughter, she stood by Hua as someone different from the year before and gave a speech welcoming everyone to the festival and explaining his point of view. Hua translated for her which she was thankful for. Once the speech was over she began to walk around remaining close to Hua for support soon enough she stopped finding something that took her interest and walked closer. Hua explained that it was a costume competition and perhaps she might find it fun, she decided she'd watch a few rounds before deciding.
It had been over a month since the spirit festival, and the blonde-haired tailor was still at home. This was a rarity in itself, as usually, he was only home for two to three weeks at a time before once again being on the road for yet another music tour, but it had been almost two months since his last one. The servant that was his father's voice while away from home was extremely concerned by this, he had previously attempted to push Akihiko back on the road with a tour he hadn't agreed to and as far as he knew his father knew nothing about and so demanded that the servant cancel it. It was clear he had been less than happy at what the servant had tried, still, he hadn't brought it up after he showed his displeasure but made sure that if the servant attempted to pull anything like this again he would regret it.
He had heard of the star festival from the people who worked at his family's store and decided to go. Not as himself as he had built up a reputation of being a shy, introverted clutz so such a function wouldn't suit him, so he went as the idol Liqin. He had met quite a few people and though he didn't like making judgements on people the two imperial princes made him uncomfortable but he had remained respectful even as he had given backhanded compliments as the tailor in him just couldn't fathom why they believed dressing as they did would be a good idea. To him, they seemed like those 'pick me' nobles of Clover who want attention so dress little better than clowns to make a 'statement'. Oh, he got the statement alright, they had more money than sense.
Unlike last time this was a festival where people could dress up as things they were not and play pretend for an evening, he remembered such festivities from home and wanted to take part but not as his other persona, but as himself. He watched as his siblings and even the two mana beasts helped Sumire create her costume, he quietly worked on his own within his room. This was nothing unusual as he tended to remain recluse while at home. He did his duties to the family and the business but this was out of the sight of everyone because as much as his father hated it, it was understood that he needed a way to be left alone and due to being deemed as shy, clumsy, tone deaf, musically inept and couldn't stitch to save his life this was all but assured.
He found it amusing as out of everyone even in his family he was the most efficient when it came to embroidery, of course, he could do patterns as well as anyone in his family it just didn't overly interest him and so left it to his elder sister Sumire as she could look at patterns for hours while fangirling over them as if she was one of his fans. He, himself had committed to dying his hair white and using make-up to make his skin seem fairer to the point it almost seemed to give him an ethereal beauty, The outfit he designed was simple silk that was pure white but it had some delicate embroidery that only showed if hit by light correctly making it more elegant if not dignified without drawing attention. He got a thin shroud and embroidered around the hem in the same method he had before.
Within his white hair, he had entwined silver silk thread, used a delicate over-cuff silver earring, and finished by placing a silver huadian on his forehead. Completely dressed, he looked otherworldly, which suited the aesthetic he was going for. He left a little later than his sister as he wanted to surprise her but promised to bring things back for the two mana beasts and his younger siblings who weren't allowed to go. He had arrived on the grounds in the middle of Sol's speech but he wasn't paying attention as he glanced around to see if Sumire was around, it wasn't until he noticed the crowd dispersing he realized that he must have missed her, he decided his best course of action was just to walk around looking for her.
